Pad Thai is a dish of stir-fried rice noodles with eggs, fish sauce, tamarind juice, red chili pepper, plus any combination of bean sprouts, shrimp, chicken, or tofu, garnished with crushed peanuts, coriander and lime, the juice of which can be added along with Thai condiments (crushed peanuts, garlic, chives, pickled turnip, coriander, lime, spicy chili oil, chili powder, vinegar, fish sauce, sugar). It is usually served with scallions and pieces of raw banana flower.
It is listed at number 5 on World's 50 most delicious foods readers' poll compiled by CNN Go in 2011.
I am not sure about this being a top 5 food for me, (steaks, fried chicken, tom yum, fries, bacon are top contenders... lol) but it was soooo tasty! And a huge portion too, for a price of US$6 in a nice restaurant.
To all the meatheads out there! It's not the best carpaccio I've ever had (the dressing is kinda too much) but I love the generous amount of cheese. I can't wait to try more, but I'd rather have a steak tartare than carpaccio because I'm greedy like that.
