I feel sad about a friend of mineToday I visited my friend that I have met from the social group I used to go to, and saw the care facility he lives at for the first time. We played a fun game together and had a snack, it was a good time and I was at least glad to see him in a place unlike our usual spot. He feels so normal in many respects, he does have some body coordination problems and does have mental health issues, but because of his condition he is under court order to live where he's at and can't leave.I feel sad about a friend of mine in Personal More Like This
He apparently has lived there for over ten years because of his disability and it feels sad people have to live there under a set of rules that I would go crazy with and can only leave with permission. He told me that he might be allowed to go to a less restrictive place in the future, which I hope happens because he has needs he will never fulfill where he's at now.
In a way though, it has me afraid of where I might end up if I can't improve my own life. God knows my parents won't live

Say what you will about Anita Sarkeesian, you gotta admit that people do take note of what she says for good or ill. In this piece of news, it's for the good.
As you might already know, in her latest video she outlined a simple "damsel frees herself" video game. Nothing too spectacular but it showcased how one can subvert the typical trope and make a strong female character out of it. While many were quick to criticize her for not making the game herself (given her kickstarter success), others took a more direct approach and actually made a game in 2 weeks.
The game is called "Sorry Mario Bros," and the plot is that Princess Peach decides to rescues herself by leaving Bowser's castle in world 8-4. You progress right to left through familiar, but slightly altered, original Mario Bros. worlds working your way backwards towards world 1-1. Along the way you can take detours and use Peach's float ability to reach hidden areas and collect "princess coins."

1) Price: Flat rate of $30 per page. I'm at liberty to add an additional $5-$10 if I feel the work is more ambitious than the flat rate. For example, don't expect to commission me to draw all 600+ pokemon for $30, that's just silly. We'll discuss prices more in e-mails if it comes up, but for the most part $30 should cover just about everything.
2) No fetish stuff.
3) I'm only going to accept digital commissions. I'm absolutely awful at sending original artwork through the mail, and I don't want to keep people waiting for their work. Wh

Derpy Hooves vs HasbroSo it has come to my attention that recently Hasbro has (possibly?) ordered a cease and desist letter to WeLoveFine.com for selling Derpy Hooves related T-shirts. This, coupled with the mysterious disappearance of the episode "The Last Roundup" (which is the one where Derpy talks) from iTunes has gotten fans freaked out and panicky. The general belief is that Hasbro wants to stop the cannoning of internet named Derpy from the MLP series due to the backlash of people getting angry for them for doing so in the first place. Nintendo STEALS Money!Since this has been going around lately, I should probably give my two cents. Basically what it amounts to is that Nintendo has filed Content ID info of their games with YouTube. What this means is that if you upload gameplay video of a Nintendo game, YouTube will automatically monetize that video, put ads on it, a link to where to buy the game, and take the money generated from that video and give it directly to Nintendo. People who do "let's play" videos are, naturally, pissed off because they want to be earning money off their videos, so they're calling Nintendo "thieves" for doing this.Nintendo STEALS Money! in Personal More Like This
I can see both sides to the story. I can see Nintendo as a corporation wanting to exercise control over their properties. On the other hand, "let's play" videos can often help new gamers find games they otherwise wouldn't have tried.
But here's the thing: Nintendo isn't the first company do this. Both Microsoft and Ubisoft do it already. YouTube has also had a long history of having music videos and

To be fair it's a perfectly good movie, above average in a lot of ways... but since it was framed as a sequel to the original 1970's Pooh, I felt that overall it was lacking something.Winnie The Pooh 2011 Movie Review in Personal More Like This
This is the hardest part to explain. I don't know what exactly didn't catch me the same way other Pooh related stuff has in the past. Even the 1980's TV show "Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" felt more connected to the original movie than this one did.
Part of it is probably the animation. While Disney animation is always phenomenal, as they are one of THE best animation studio in the whole world... something about this movie felt very... cheap to me. Some of the animation felt very floaty to me, an issue I have only previously encountered with Dreamworks.
There were a lot of sight gags that flash by pretty quickly too. I remember reading that they wanted to "modernize" Pooh for
Disney vs Lucas ArtsIf ever you bring up Disney in a conversation, people immediately recite tired old issues with the company that haven't been true for a long time. For example, complaining about the excess of half-assed sequels. That was part of Michael Eisner's regime. When he left the studio the quality Disney was producing suddenly skyrocketed considerably. Likewise the excessive merchandising and branding of Disney related products has also ceased to be as all-consuming now that Eisner is gone. In fact, a lot of the main issues people had with Disney during the 90's and early 2000's was a result of Eisner.Disney vs Lucas Arts in Personal More Like This
Since Eisner left, the Disney studio has done a REMARKABLE job in clearing their name of many of the atrocities they had committed during his regime. They promptly turned the animation department around and have even begun doing 2-D animated films again after Eisner said "no." Granted, at the moment 2-D is still in hiatus, but the situation isn't as dire as it use to be and there's still promise

But you know what? It's actually a lot of fun. The action is intense, the special effects are top notch, the acting isn't too corny or eye-rolling, and it pretty much delivers on everything that you'd expect a board game inspired movie would feature.
What I liked most was how the special effects were actually on display. It wasn't like Transformers where you can never tell what the eff is going on. While there are some odd camera zooms during the action, the action itself is always framed in such a way that you can tell what's going on at all times. I like action movies like that. Hi everyone and everypony! I’m finding it difficult to believe that in less than a week we’ll be waist deep in the Friendship is Magic season finale. It seems like just the other day we were fangasming over the season premier. Now, here we are, 24 episodes down and but a pair remain. This season has been amazing. So much more than any of us really expected. The return of Luna, tons of Derpy, Lyra and Bon Bon hanging out, an unexpected Trixie shout-out, Dragons, more griffins, Time Travel, masked crusaders, self-help minotaurs, and plenty of incontrovertible proof that all the ponies in this town really ARE are crazy.
It’s been a brilliant season and a wonderful experience. We’re awash in conventions and gatherings; we have show-accurate toys and favorite background characters to look forward to. Derpy’s name was spoken and she was given voice.
Save Our DerpySave Our Derpy in Personal More Like This
No doubt you’ve all seen or heard the hullabaloo around Ye Olde Intertubes in the days and weeks following our beloved Derpy’s named appearance in the FIM episode The Last Roundup. What began as a campaign by trolls wreak havoc was soon picked up by well-meaning-but-misguided bronies and fans. The controversy stems from the mistaken belief that the word “derpy” is synonymous with mentally challenged. Obviously, it’s not. Rather it means clutzy or accident prone. Further, fans maintained that her slightly-husky voice in the episode was an attempt to mock people with learning disabilities. Again, untrue. Voiced by actor Tabitha St. Germain, Derpy was mistakenly thought to be a boy pony and was based on a young boy who lives next door to Ms. St. Germain.
This tempest in a teapot stirred up around the fandom has now exploded into what seems to be a PR-pushback by Hasbro.

CharismaI just read this and I think it is so true:Charisma in Personal More Like This
Here are the 10 habits of remarkably charismatic people:
1. They listen way more than they talk.
Ask questions. Maintain eye contact. Smile. Frown. Nod. Respond--not so much verbally, but nonverbally.
That's all it takes to show the other person they're important.
Then when you do speak, don't offer advice unless you're asked. Listening shows you care a lot more than offering advice, because when you offer advice in most cases you make the conversation about you, not them.
Don't believe me? Who is "Here's what I would do..." about: you or the other person?
Only speak when you have something important to say--and always define important as what matters to the other person, not to you.
2. They don't practice selective hearing.
Some people--I guarantee you know people like this--are incapable of hearing anything said by the people they feel are somehow beneath them.
Sure, you speak to them, but that particular falling tree doesn't make a sound i

Happy Holidays!Ohh it's been a looong while. No I'm not dead, but I almost did lose my drawing arm. Around Thanksgiving I somehow got a severe infection on the left forearm. Next year I have a resolution to keep updating this page with art.Happy Holidays! in Personal More Like This
I was bad. I couldn't finish The Lounge yet. I had all the time too. I was too busy working on Salamanstra. I should've finished The Lounge first. Both comics will resume next year!
As of now I'm still recovering. I have tubes connected to me at the moment and I can't wait for them to be gone. I've been getting back into the groove of drawing. It feels so weird when you don't draw for so long.
Thank you for all the love and support. I definitely will give the love back somehow. <3

Let's Talk About It - Patrickman!Welcome to my new segment (that I might turn into videos) called Let's Talk About it, where people keep asking me to review episodes that aren't bad enough to be atrocities or good enough to be admirable, but still deserve a few comments. Today's episode is Patrick-Man! People keep wondering why it wasn't on my Worst Patrick's a Prick list, along with Driven to Tears, Rule of Dumb, and Patrick Smartpants... for some reason. I like all of those episodes, except Driven to Tears, which left me more conflicted than anything. I also like Patrickman, which really seemed to surprise a lot of people so let's talk about it.Let's Talk About It - Patrickman! in Personal More Like This
What separates Patrickman from episodes like Patrick's Staycation, Yours, Mine and Mine, and The Card? It's really simple, for the first time since, I can't even remember, Patrick's stupidity felt genuine. It didn't feel malicious or even hedonistic. The basic plot is that Patrick is fe
Weirdness....Alright, awhile back I did a review on an absolutely terrible book entitled "1001 Video Games You Must Play Before You Die," a book that was riddled with errors. Table of contents directions lead to wrong pages. Some titles in the table of contents used one regional name, while the actual entry used a different regional name (Freak Out/Stretch Panic). There were also typos and spelling errors. Sometimes games like H.E.R.O. and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. would be at the top of their letter section, and sometimes they would be where they would if they didn't have any periods. Not to mention that they didn't know how to alphabetize at all. This book is probably the only place in the world where Super Mario Bros. comes in between Super Mario Bros. 2 and Super Mario Bros. 3. And that's in the table of contents.Weirdness.... in Personal More Like This

My Top 20 Least Favorite PokemonSince I'm pretty deep into Pokemon right now and I'd like to give my opinions on some of them, I thought I'd do something a little fun giving both my favorite and least favorite Pokemon, 20 of them (each). I did something like this before, but that had a bunch of filler-entries. Bronzong may be my least favorite steel type, but I don't have any dislike for the bell-thing. So I figured I'd give you my straight up, 20 least favorite Pokemon. And my opinions have changed a bit with me using more of a variety. These are straight up opinions and Pokemon that aren't good at battling, like Tropius or Dunsparce can be saved by their designs. Unfortunately that cuts both ways and some of the Pokemon on this list I hate for appearance alone. I'm also judging the Pokemon based on what they add to the game... you know like how zubat and tentacool adds a shit ton of annoyance (although neither of them are on this list because crobat is awesome and I've got nostalgic attatchment to tentacruel, it beMy Top 20 Least Favorite Pokemon in Personal More Like This

Animation Retrospective - The 1970's (Part 1)People have asked me why the 1970's is my least favorite decade in terms of animation, and since it'll take quite a while for my Eras of Animation to get here, I thought that I'd go over it in one of these retrospective journals. Keep in mind: all of this is in hindsight. I was not actually alive during the 70's. Also, if there's a decade (excluding ones I've already done, or the current decade) or a more specific genre you'd like me to do a retrospective of, please let me know.Animation Retrospective - The 1970's (Part 1) in Personal More Like This
The 1970's finds itself right smack dab in the middle of something known as the Dark Age of Animation. In the 70's many things of the previous couple of decades compounded. To produce a weekly television series, instead of having theatrical cartoon shorts as things like the Looney Tunes had done in the past, you needed to cut corners or risk not getting a profit at all. Most shows got around this by doing two things:
Number one, they used a technique called limited animation. Like flash animation that came late
I don't even.... this is... bad...It gets worse. Recently I've criticized Autism Speaks and their dehumanizing ad campaigns, and I thought that that was as deep as the rabbit hole goes. But today I've learned of... something particularly disturbing. And what I've learned today may or not come up in my Mary & Max review, so I want to get the horror and the disgust and most of the disturbance out of my system. At the very least, I don't want to rant for 15 minutes what should only take up a few seconds in a cohesive review. Autism Speaks in the world's largest autism-focused charity on the surface, but deeper down they're kind of like PETA with a good reputation. I originally thought that that comparison was a little hyperbolic (non-sarcastic on "little"). What they essentially do is create dehumanizing propaganda towards people with autism(1) using rhetoric that, while it may not cause filicide, it at least empathizes with filicide* of disabled

World War 3 may just be months away, with much of the middle east currently being blown apart by missiles and the locals setting their neighbours on fire, but the real news is that the Twinkie, the USA's primary contribution to world cuisine, could cease to be.
"You eat those?" I hear people ask. Hell no. Never eaten one in my life. There's something about their unnatural, chemical-yellow colour and that they have a half-life rather than a use-by date that just sets off one too many alarm-bells.
In fact, I'm pretty sure that if you read the print on the pack, you'll find asbestos to be a key ingredient.
Even John McClane can't keep one down, and he took out a building full of terrorists with nothing but his bare feet and a Santa hat.
Which leads to my point: Without the Twinkie, there are SO many lines from SO many classic movies that future generations just a
Lara's Adventure on QTE Island. For how many more years am I going to have to put up with new titles pretending that: a cutscene, which you have to watch again and again if you don't press a button at the right time, constitutes as "gameplay"?Lara's Adventure on QTE Island. in Personal More Like This
It never has and never will.
It doesn't make a game more cinematic. It doesn't add a sense of thrill. It simply makes viewers (I can't call them "players", as that would imply they are actually permitted to DO something) dread cutscenes, because they have no idea if they're going to be allowed to enjoy them or if they're going to have to watch them 5 times in a row because they fail to hit the random sequence of buttons indicated on the screen.
A game is thrilling ONLY when the player uses the control scheme effectively within the game environment. If the game needs to take control away from the player and lead them by the nose through a cutscene, it's been lazily constructed and as a result: isn't fun.
If you are a games designer and you have proposed a Quick Time

Evil Dead RemakeIf an original film has a splendid core concept, but a budget too low or a director too inept to do it justice, I don't mind a remake. I'll applaud it.Evil Dead Remake in Personal More Like This
The most toxic remake thus far has been "Total Recall", which was terrible simply because it used the original as a crutch at more than a few points and, despite having a massive budget and 20 years of technological advancement on the original: felt less exciting and epic.
Closer to the book, sure, but just not as much fun.
And now they've turned their gaze upon "Evil Dead".
Now, I'm not going to try and defend the original Evil Dead, because it's not actually that great a film. This is proven with "Evil Dead 2", in which the entirety of the preceding movie's plot and purpose is successfully reduced to an opening act. Something that wouldn't have been possible were the movie, y'know; good.
"Evil Dead 2" is awesome. It's called a "cult classic" for a reason, and, in my eyes, should have rendered the whole franchise "sacred", meaning you

The list is not so much what I think are good games – games age and some of them now play like a dog – but they are titles that most inspired me. They either introduced me to new concepts or changed how I saw things.
I won’t go into detail on why each was important to me (that’ll take too long to write!) but if you’re familiar with both my work and these titles, you’ll probably spot where I picked up certain things from.

Let's just go over what I posted yesterday: I voiced that I have no opinion on guns in America, because I don't live there and as such; don't care. I said that I, personally, am afraid of guns and think they're industrial killing machines. And I posed a vague, hypothetical question that could have been applied to any situation where an old law/doctrine is in effect.
That's it. Nothing more. Harshest word in there was "change" followed by a question mark. Not "ban", not "make guns illegal" and certainly not "outlaw free speech and trial by jury", which some people with a slightly looser grasp on reality seem to think go hand in hand with owning the firearms I said I don't care about.
Well, today, I am going to post an opinion: if you're the kind of insecure, paranoid little twit that flies off the handle when someone poses a simple question, and who holds weapons and the laws that permit them with such religious reverence that you perceive that question as not

As I predicted; there was quite a bit of content that just had me squirming in my chair, thinking "No! NO! Why did you do that?!". The absurdity of the nod to the NHS, for example, and the sudden appearance of various storybook villains, which felt (for lack of a better word) "Disney".
