VinashukaThe cloud that forms above the burning wastesVinashuka in Free Verse More Like This
Hints to many that the dying world breathes.
Beneath the empty morrow that holds the shattered
glass, I see myself whispering 'Vinashuka'.
Cold muttered voices tonguing the edge of my sanity
The creeping walls denote the loss of my inner being
Lick the paper that cuts the tongue into a myriad
of pieces and once again whisper 'Vinashuka'.
But my words will fall on deaf ears and I'm tempted
to once again open myself for torture. For perhaps
the endless grief with which I give myself meaning
will form into the bloodied words of 'Vinashuka'.
This single whispered temptation, a solitary lie
amongst thousands of truths, a comforting security
that tells me I'm alive-
Is simple called 'Vinashuka'.
Now I feel like biting this flopping tongue
This worthless condemnation of meat and drool!
It gibbers endlessly and drives me to madness
A madness known as 'Vinashuka'

The Dark Age of EquestriaThe Dark Age of Equestria:The Dark Age of Equestria in Free Verse More Like This
Long ago, when the stars were still young
The kingdom of Equestria burned in the fires of unholy war
For the Earth ponies, opressed by the noble unicorns
turned to the darker forces for aid and assistance
It began with a young Earth Pony, Rosenheart
Who was told by the Unicorns to pay her taxes on time
The Pegasi were sent to enforce this and she refused
"The taxes are too high!" she pleaded
sweat trickling down her face
"I cannot pay these taxes or my babies will starve!"
but the Pegasi cared not and simply took what they came for
They left her home a broken and cold place...
In desperation, she begged to the shadows that lurked around her
she asked them to help her and for this she would pay
she would pay any price that they asked
but the price they asked for was terrible indeed...
He came as a cloaked figure, standing on two legs
He was not like everypony else, instead he was something more
His eyes glowed red, like burning rubies
wreathed in malice

a horror beginning its birth. The serpent will slither
into a moistened cave and the blood will spill from broken lips
The secret was hidden beneath the trees, where the lovers
were kissed and never told. Yet the stains remain upon the grass.
Never to be erased...
How many times will I return, to a place I wish
I'd never see. Perhaps it is a way for me
To think of that which I regret...
But the man would never remind himself, of the horror
unleashed beneath falling leaves. The petals bear witness
to the struggled screaming, muffled by hands and feet.
A choking embodiment of sweat and tears and the final
release of a beating heart. The act is done and motion
has stopped, so now the vomiting begins...
An act of purity, to cleanse and expunge. It is
made to deny the gnawing guilt, for all that remains
is plain to see: a puddle of red on a sea of green.

Cold and arrogant slithering beast, your tongue is forked with lies
Do you intend to take my dignity or perhaps to sully my eyes?
No matter how much you speak of warmth; affection, care or love
I know that you are simple twisted; an assassin from above
Did you think I would not see the truth, or perhaps you thought me blind?
Perhaps you felt you could deceive this man, for he is simply kind
Woe is me the naive fool, taken in by your stories of harder times
Sadly my dear, I'm an utter sadist and the punishment will fit the crime.
I will lash your body, with the best of whips; let the leather bite in close
And then I'll let you hang for awhile, whilst you stare at me morose.
Why so serious, do I frighten you badly, is this not what you want?
When you slithered into my happy home, it was a vicious seed you sought to plant
But frankly I'm evil, much more than you are, I am the darkness beneath your bed
I'm afraid that when you close your eyes, it's me you

The roaring wind was quick to die
As the fog began to form.
Silence soon surrounded us
Like a calm before the storm.
In the darkest distance; against the light
I could hear a haunting melody.
It seemed to sound like a Siren's call
Coming from across the sea.
Immediately my crew reacted
As we dove beneath the deck.
Wool and wax to plug the ears
And ropes to tie me back.
As a Captain of this Pirate ship
My duty was plain to see.
Tied to the mast as a sacrifice
Was where I soon would be.
For one alone must endure the call
Else the Siren would not sing.
This had been a long tradition
Since the time of the Pirate King.
A swig of rum would steel the soul;
With a prayer of mercy from the crew.
Left alone upon the deck
It was like a private dinner for two.
'Come with me, my little sailor,'
Her voice did whisper in my mind
'I alone will give you pleasure,
For I alone am kind...'
Indeed she was an enchanting creature
Soft and warm with the promise of

But if we chose to hold the rose

Its thorns would simply press our skin
Not pain or poison laced
If we could learn the simple lessons
of looking at all the good things in life
Then food would be the only object
to meet the edge of my knife
I see so many different ways
to enjoy the life that I have today
I could go to the store and buy a snack
A treat for me I say
Perhaps I'll choose to walk the distance
or maybe I'll take the bus this morn
But none can take the simple pleasure

The simple things are what I wish to share
For like my heart, they are always true
and if you were here, sitting beside me
then I'd share this sunrise with you

Jef was waiting alone in the living room while the guardians, including Jack Frost and you, were talking to the Nightmare King's daughter. Your son have been thinking about what Ashen had said lately. About the name and everything. Suddenly, Jef realized that she mentioned his name. Jef Wynter, and didn't know how she knew that.
"I have to clear my head…" he whispered and took a stroll around the place. As usual, the yetis are busy making toys and presents for boy and girls around the globe. Jef grinned as he observed them and the annoying little elves.
The winter spirit's son took out his flute and stared at it. He tried to see his last name but he can't. It was still blur. He groaned and put it back in his shirt.
He now has doubts about his name. Jef Wynter Frost. The dream he had last night was not the first. It was always the same dream but he didn't tell you that.

He went unseen, unheard for three hundred years. I haven’t had quite that lengthy existence, but it has felt like an eternity. Nobody believing in him. In me. That’s us. Alone in the world.

“Present!” the Doctor said, flinging his hands into his pants pockets, staring down his metal addresser with a twitch of a smile on his lips. “Quite the welcome party you’ve got, I’m flattered.”
“Your efforts are useless, Doctor. The future cannot be prevented this time,” continued the CyberLeader, unfazed by the Doctor’s banter. “We have predicted every possible route you could take. You will not hinder us this time. You have walked right into our trap.” It seemed like he didn’t even realize Jack was there. Or, if he did, he chose not to acknowledge him.
“Oh, a trap, eh?” He leaned on the broken weapon, crossing one ankle over the other. “Well, you didn’t predict everything, my thickly metal-headed friend. Take a gander at her. Bit quiet, don’t you think?”
CyberLeader shifted his dark pits used as eyes from the tall, slender man to

I think it was poetry. “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock,” I believe. But I’m not too sure.
You see, I was too busy daydreaming to really pay attention.
Or, should I say, “lost in thought”?
Anyway, my brain was so preoccupied with other thoughts that there just simply wasn’t room for even the discussion going on in one of the two classes I didn’t absolutely despise—English. The other was Calculus.
Oh, my brain.
Engineering? For NASA, so I could send rovers and shuttles into space and be the first to see new pictures of the Great Beyond that I had grown to love and gaze up at so much? That sounded wonderful. But, as much as I sincerely loved math, it didn’t like me back. That, and I had recently learned that you don’t actually get to see pictures. You slam into cold, hard metal, sharp decorative points on the boxes painfully digging into multiple parts of your flesh.
You aren’t given any time to recover whatsoever.
You quickly begin to slide down the pile, the slick boxes unable to stay in place with the extra weight and force of your impact.
You struggle to stay as close to the top as possible, not wanting to sink into the dark depths below. You grab onto the moving boxes as if they were rocks on a climbing wall, your feet constantly giving out from underneath you in your effort.
Thinking quickly, you scoop a few boxes aside, forming a makeshift ledge for you to perch on. With something of an empowering grunt, you leap up to the step that you have created for yourself, jamming the tops of your feet into the pile and standing securely on the boxes, the very things tha

His eyebrows raised one after the other and shook his head.
"Well the only way you could be seeing me right now would be if you believed in me, and if you're talking to me right now then I suppose..." he was motioning his hand,as if he wanted you to complete his sentence.
Your eyes grew wider and wider, knowing the rest of his unfinished sentence but too stubborn to believe it.
"Wha-...No. No no no no! You're telling me I...believe in you? But I...you...what?"
He grinned and shrugged.
You put your hand to your forehead and leaned your back against a nearby tree.
"Tell me this is not happening, tell me a branch fell on my head and I'm currently just laying on the snow, knocked out." you could feel your whole world turn upside down.
Since when do fairy tales come to life? Since when do I believe in them?
Jack tousled his hair, he seemed worried.

He shook his head, like waking up from a daydream.
"Oh,right! This is actually just some place I like to visit whenever I'm feeling lonely. It's an untouched part of the forest.I don't think a lot of people have been here before. So can we say this is my secret hideout?"
You nodded while looking around. He was right, it looked like this place has never been visited before. No animal tracks could be found in the snow and not a single sound could be heard neither. You then suddenly noticed a lake.It looked frozen solid. You got closer, wanting to see more but Jack's arm blocked your way.

Jack and you spent the morning laying in bed, talking about everything and nothing. He explained how his powers worked, basically. You talked to him about your life. Your school, your friends and your family.
You grunted and buried your face in your hands. You completely forgot about them. They would be back in 4 days, and you thought about what would happen with Jack and all. You couldn't just walk around the house talking to an invisible being, well invisible to them. You'd be obligated to whisper. And if you wanted to spend time with him, you'd have to go outside. And plenty of other things you didn't want to think about. You sighed heavily and looked up at the ceiling, praying to the gods. Or whoever was up there in the heavens.
"Why all that grunting, snowflake?" he seemed kinda concerned, like if he had said or done something wrong.
You locked your gaze with his, but no smile came to you.

You could feel his presence near by. You knew he must be confused by your sudden confession and he probably thinks you're even weirder than before. All you really wanted right now was for Pitch to abandon the fight so you could go back home. You didn't want to do this sh-t anymore. Whatever decision you would make, somebody would always get hurt.
At that exact moment of hopelessness, you felt his hand on your shaking shoulder. Refusing to look up, you simply managed to not move under his cool touch.
"Y-You thought I...left you?" His voice was high pitched and shaky, like if he was just moments away from breaking down like you.
Slightly raising your head so he could see a small part of your eyes, you shot him a death glare.

You lay in your bed that night, staring at your white and boring ceiling while you overheard your parents's discussion downstairs.
"But don't you think she looks... different? I mean, she was so gloomy not too long ago and now she seems almost..." Your mother's voice was barely a whisper, but still understandable.
"She's a teenager, dear. These kind of things happen. They'll be sad one day and cheerful the other. I'm afraid there isn't much we can do about it right now."
There was a pause before they both sighed.
"Come on, let's get to bed. It's almost midnight."
You listened to their footsteps walking towards their room, followed by a gentle door closing.
You smiled, finally feeling safe for once. But the pain in your lower abdomen made you wince and turn over.

But at least it was only temporary.

Suddenly you weren't in your room anymore. But in a rather dark and gloomy forest. Tall and majestic trees surrounded you. They had no leaves and seemed lifeless. You couldn't see any light and had a hard time walking.
There were so many leafless branches above your head you could barely see the sky.But you were still able to define the moon among the starts.
You tripped over tree roots and branches, your vision a bit blurry and unclear.
You felt as if someone was watching you. You turned around several times but saw no one.
The forest itself seemed dead. Until you saw the first sign of life.
The breathe of an animal. You also saw a pair of golden glowing eyes. At first you thought it was a wolf or a bear. But as it approached, you saw a mare. A mare black as cole and at least 7 hands tall. She was panting hard, scratching the hard ground with her hoof and staring deeply at you.
Your first instinct: Run.

During the following weeks, Pitch had given specific missions for you to accomplish. You were a bit like his spy, because he sometimes needed information from the real world that he could not gain unless you helped him a bit.
He would come and visit you after nightfall, sitting on the other end of your bed. You'd try and talk as quietly as possible, trying to not alarm your parents.
Although it was a thrill being the villain here, you still felt a part of you refusing to accept your current reality.
So far, you hadn't done anything bad yet. You basically just had to go around a few places, eavesdropping at a couple conversations and come back with some stuff to tell Pitch. You still had no idea what was the meaning of this. Until one night.
Emerging from the shadowy part of your room, the dark villain sat at the other end of your bed, as usual.

It wasn't morning yet, but you could see the sky become lighter through your window. During the night Jack had fallen sound asleep in your arms. You ran your fine fingers through his messed up hair, sometimes checking to see if he was awake.
But no. He was asleep. Sound asleep, like a child. He was in a curled up position, and his arms were slightly around your waist. His grip was loose, but it had been tighter earlier during the night. You didn't mind at all.
You just kept running your fingers through his hair. That perfect hair of his. Never in your life had you met someone with gorgeous looking hair all of the time.
You caressed his cheek, which you had expected to be cold at first, but was warmer to the touch.

Right now, you were mad. Mad at him for leaving like that. Without at least a warning? After all he had just said to you. About you being "so beautiful" and "life would be pointless without you" and a big fat "you gave me a true reason to live".
Now back to Pitch. When you touched his hand, everything suddenly vanished. Your room and the moon's beams all disappeared within half a second. You were on the edge of panicking because of the loss of your senses. You could no longer hear, see or smell anything.
But after about 5 seconds, you began to see objects again. And the echos of dripping water could be heard. The smell of humidity also invaded your nose.
Rubbing your temples, you groaned at the sudden headache that had taken place within your head. You took a peek and opened your eyes.

A soft groan escaped your lips as you trudged into the large room. A long, dark wooden table stretched across the floor, polished shiny and new. Soft piano music could be heard from another room, sending the hum of it into the silent space. dog on a leash by an overwhelmingly happy Kamina. The kunoichi, seemingly oblivious to
how much discomfort her wolfen companion was in, happily burst through the restaurant
doors, grabbing everyone's attention instantly. 'Look who's here to help us kick Steiner's ass!'
The whole room turned around to that sudden burst of noise, then an immediate wave of
excitement swept across it. 'JJ! You actually came!'
Before he knew it, JJ was surrounded by what seemed to be a group of fans. The people who
had been majorly critical of his efforts to conceal information only a week ago sure had
changed their tone. JJ wasn't usually the type of guy who would forget a grievance easily, but
this time, he decided to let it lie. After all, how were they supposed to have guessed that he
was, in secret, a feisty teenage werewolf?
Once the euphoria had fizzled away, JJ sat down to eat

The night was bitterly cold, as it started to snow again. The wind was blustery as the last remaining sliver of light slowly faded away, surrounding the land in winter darkness. Through it drove a black Land Rover Defender. As the tough little 4x4 bounced off of the roads and off the beaten track, it threw up a rooster-tail of powder. JJ, given his particular background, was never one to panic when driving off-road. He effortlessly weaved deeper and deeper into the woods, until eventually, the brush became too thick for the car to proceed. He switched off the engine and sighed, before slumping into the seat. He thought about the Alliance for a minute. How could Voidgazer turn on him like he did? Had he become so focused on his quest for power that he was willing to throw away friends? Or was there something plaguing his mind, causing him to act irrationally? Either way, JJ knew he had to save the alliance from his tyranny, as well as his family and friends.
Let Me Teach You "Hiccup, what are you doing?" I heard Jack ask as he peered over my shoulder. We were inside the Great Hall, alone for the most part. Or I hoped, I really didn't need other villagers to see me seemingly talking to myself. The winter spirit hadn't been in here when I entered, but I'd grown accustom to him randomly popping in whenever he wanted; with a hand on my shoulder as always, not that I minded at all. His touch wasn't as cold as it used to be.Let Me Teach You in Romance More Like This
"I'm reading," I replied, tilting my head down at the book on the table. "It's a very good book."
"Oh," Jack's voice dimmed, and he stepped back, only to jump over me and land effortlessly on his toes on the table. "Why don't you stop reading and we can go outside and have a snowball fight? Or build a snowman, or ice over a few walk ways to watch some good wipe outs? Or-"
"Or how about we stay in here and read?" I cut in, smirking a bit. "There's plenty of books in here I'm sure
You Only Live Once I sat up suddenly, breathing harsh and uneven. The nightmare had returned, just like it had for the entire summer. You Only Live Once in General Fiction More Like This
Trying to calm myself, I turned and slowly got out of my bed, feet lightly gracing the warm wooden floor of my room. I looked up at the only window, and saw the moon, full and still shining in the dark, early morning sky. I inwardly groaned and collapsed back onto the bed, a feeling of exhaustion overcoming me. I was unsure of how much sleep I had lost to this god-forsaken nightmare, but it sure had taken its toll on me.
I hadn’t told mother or father about it yet, and I didn’t plan to. I did not want them worrying about such a silly thing as a bad dream. Winter was coming soon, and everyone was getting prepared. I hadn’t even told my little sister, for fear she would too start having nightmares.
After lying on the bed uncomfortably for a short amount of time, I re-adjusted my body under the covers
Remembrance It wasn't hard to figure out the rest of my memories after Tooth gave me full permission to keep the box. I, I had a feeling she wanted me to share what I saw but...I told her I wasn't ready, that maybe another time. Honestly, I don't think I'd ever be ready to tell her or...or any of them what I saw.
It's not like it's a common thing to tell someone you died saving your little sister. That you drowned giving up your life for another. I didn't even know how the others became Guardians or what they were like before. I, I guess part of me wanted them to share their stories first, maybe it'd make sharing mine a little easier. Perhaps I could try to tell them about my death around the date I actually died, maybe it'd just push me to talk about it.
But when that date rolled around, I couldn't bring myself to even bother to come face

The winter spirit sighed as he walked along the dimly lit sidewalk, thinking about what had happened earlier in the day. For the first time, the Guardians had welcomed him to the North Pole- well, rather kidnapped him and then welcomed him. Needless to say, the whole situation was new and strange to him, and he was conflicted on how to react to it.
Am I happy the Guardians were finally acknowledging his existence? Definitely, overjoyed actually. But the thing that keeps nagging at me, is why now? Why now, out of the blue, when I have been around for three hundred years?
After the confrontation with the Guardians, Jack flew out of the North Pole as soon as possible; he needed time to think. He flew to his favorite town to visit, Burgess. Why was

North led us after the footprint trail in the snow, tailing after the kid. Jack had been acting...odd, and well, cold for a few weeks now. Not like himself at all; no smiles, no pranks, and very little snow days were made worldwide. North, Tooth, and Sandy were all extremely worried, mostly because of how they found the kid and I last time he was acting strange. I however, knew what today was...
I didn't really want to follow Jack. Today was a day he'd told me he wanted to keep to himself; a private "day-off", as he called it. Why? He didn't really need to say. I was able to figure out with just the help of today's date Today was February 17th.
Jack really wanted to be alone today.

Sandy had continued to glance back at me throughout the trip, taking notice of my discomfort. Thankfully, he did not notify Tooth of it; he only shot me expressions full of concern. I would smile at him weakly as if to say Don't worry, I'm fine, really. I could tell he did not believe me.
By now all of Tooth's mini-fairies had calmed down, no longer attacking my mouth. They ceased their loud squeaking at everything I did, and that helped my headache just a little. A few sat on my shoulders, some resting on my head. I couldn't help but laugh when their

No matter who they are or what they believe in, there comes a point in their lives where magic and the world I live in slips from their minds, replaced by the life ahead of them, whether it be discovering who they are, chasing their fate, or making history. It's happened before, and I know it'll happen again.
But that doesn't mean it hurts any less.
Each time, I should be ready for it. I should be expecting for the feeling to come back, the loneliness, the pain. But I never am, and each time one walks through me, I still feel like breaking.
When someone walks through you, most people think it would hurt. But they think it's this simple, short pain that only lasts seconds. They think it's nothing bad, like walking through a wall of cold or hot water.

That’s all he’d wanted to do. Get a fire going, tidy up their home, get everything neat and organized…Well, as organized and neat a winter spirit could make a pair of Vikings' home. Get the house warmed up, as it had definitely lost any heat it may have held at one time, especially with the special house sitter that resided within the wooden walls.

"FROSTBITE!" I heard the kangaroo before I saw him, and once he came into view, I could barely contain my laughter from where I hid in the bush.
It seems my prank worked, for Bunnymund was covered in pink, blue, green, and purple dye; staining his fur to make him look like a "true" spring spirit. A few dozen eggs trailed behind the Pooka worriedly, trying to console their master. He simply shooed them away, and continued to look around in rage, more than likely trying to decide how he'd kill me.
So, I decided to high-tail it out of there, letting the wind sweep me up and out one of the tunnel's. I floated around for a bit, (hopefully) letting the Pooka calm down a bit before he found me. I grew bored of simply hanging in the breeze how

North chuckled at the familiar phrase; Jack always managed to run into the yeti he had deemed as Phil first at the pole, it was almost as if it was a rule for him to annoy the poor beast before carrying on with why he came. Not that the yeti exactly minded, over the years after Jack had become a Guardian, Phil had grown fond of the kid.
Truly, all the Guardians had, and each fully enjoyed whenever the winter spirit paid them a visit; which, to their great pleasure, was nearly becoming a weekly thing.

The boy smirked, hopping down from where he'd perched on the railing of the Globe Room. This bonus material is a sort of 'relationship map' illustrating the interactions between the heroine and her fellow characters through a series of shorts. I've also taken the liberty to format these one-shots by crossing over the Social Links system from the well-known Persona series.
The concept of 'Social Links' was taken directly from Persona 3 and 4, and refers to the relationship-building system that both games are well known for. 'Social Links' are essentially a wellspring of power for the main character, who becomes stronger and comes to a better understanding of their own self the more they bond with particular characters. One unique characteristic of these Social Links is that each particular relationship to a certain character falls under one of the cards from the 'Major Arcana' of the Tarot Deck. The particular '

Jean stubbornly refused to accept it.
"This has a mistake," he insisted, glaring at Eren. "There's absolutely no sense in sending her directly into battle with her wrist injury. The officers should know this."
You and Marco watched helplessly as Jean launched himself into a tirade. Given the look on his face, it was clear that there was no stopping him whatsoever.
"Why the hell are you looking at me?" Eren demanded in a bewildered voice. "I didn't screw around with the squad roster, Jean! These things happen. My guess is that they're desperately short of people fighting at the front-lines."
"Didn't you hear what I said?" Jean growled, looking ready to seize Eren by the collar again. "[First] is physically incapable of killing Titans! The front line is a position that's rife with danger. Exactly what use would she be there?"

In the evening following the conclusion of their exam, the other trainees gathered around a crisply burning fire. Nowhere to be seen, you were off visiting the medical office to tend to a slightly sore wrist.
Your rivals - and comrades - had quite a few things to say about your performance during the exam that afternoon. Most of them were of differing opinions. Not all were of praise.
"I have to admit," Reiner said, frowning his thick brows in thought. "While the use of stealth and pseudo-invisibility is nothing new in on the battlefield, she's taken it to an entirely different level. It's what makes her unique and valuable as a soldier."
"Is it practical, though? Getting the jump on humans," Eren argued vehemently. "...is not nearly the same as sneaking up on a Titan. The way we detect other humans is just n

Putting it delicately, Jaeger and I have never experienced the joy of being on the same wavelength with one other. More often than not, our sporadic 'disagreements' tend to end up in bruises and bloodshed, though I'll admit I'm not much better than him at keeping a reign on my temper. I’d also be lying if I said Mikasa didn't have anything to do with it. It's petty and childish, I know. But it irks me to no end the amount of attention she gives him that he neither appreciates nor deserves. The little shitwad.
But more than anything else, it's his incessant rage against the fabled merfolk that's kept me on edge whenever he's around. And goddamn, when that kid gets angry, you'd be downright crazy to stay in his way. Standing in front of a charging bull would be a far safer idea.
Yet here I am, barring his path while he stares me down with an accusing glare. His knuckles are ghost-white upon the wooden baseball bat. It looks

Though it was by complete coincidence that you happened to encounter Commander Dot Pixis at a place like this, you both agreed that now was as good a time as any to begin that discussion. With that, you shooed Jean and Marco back to military headquarters, so that they could attend the tail-end of the graduation banquet before it ended. They obeyed with reluctance, though not without looking towards you with concern.
You reassured them that everything would be alright, then sent them on their way. Better that than to let the boys miss dinner with the rest of the graduates. And right now you needed to have a private word with the well-respected Commander of the Garrison.
The evening was growing more chill by the second. Grateful for Marco's cloak, you wrapped it more tightly around your form, enveloping yourself in warmth as you stood in front of the gravesite with the veteran soldier.
Your Grandfather's ashes lay beneath the shade of a gnarled old tree.

The surviving Cadets settled in to rest up and tend to their wounds. All of them removed their 3D Maneuvering Gear and set it to the side for the time being, yours included among them. It was both a relief and a source of nervousness - taking off the gear left you a little less burdened, but you felt naked and vulnerable without your best advantage against the Titans.
Not that you had to worry about Titans breaking into this part of the castle any time soon. With the Rogue Titan on the warpath outside, that bought some time for you and the others to determine the next course of action.

That said, there was one thing that bothered you whenever you had a free sparring session with Marco. He was always kind and benevolent to everyone around him on a regular basis. But sometimes you wondered if he was behaving a little soft on you. He was protective. Coddling, even. The rain returned, this time as a full-blown torrent that left the forest trails flooded and treacherously muddy. The military outpost itself fared little better beneath the storm that raged overhead. Much to their displeasure, the trainees were set to the brutal work of repairing leaky rooftops, sealing walls, and cleaning up puddles where rainwater had managed to drip inside. Water crashed endlessly upon their heads in bucketfuls, soaking them to the skin, leaving them shivering and miserable.
The sky had turned pitch black, and remained thus even as the following day arrived. ...And the day after. You still had not left the infirmary.
Rumours spread throughout the regiment like wildfire. There was not a single soul who had not heard of the injury you had sustained during the final exam, and the devastating blow it had landed on your military career. Reaction to the news was varied. Most were sympathetic. A handful were l
