Happy Easter everyone! I hope that you all have a very good supper, easter egg hunt, or whatever it is you do! This year I'll be going out with my uncle while my parents are in Las Vegas. Anyway here is my little chickie bento! This bento contains:

Face Layer: Rice, Nori Grass/Flowers, Wasabi/Garlic Sesame, Cheese Chickie with Carrot Beak and Nori Eyes
What you see here is slightly smoked and fried salmon on a bed of fresh field salad, accompanied by cherry tomatoes, steamed carrots and fried tofu. And what I also see, is that my pear looks suspiciously white in this picture.
I got the fried tofu recipe from the lovely Thanks again! ^^ 14.03.2012
onigiri (rice balls) covered in shiso (dried leaf seasoning, also called beefsteak plant- turns stuff purple!) omelet carrot flowers tomato mexican wedding cakes/russian teacakes (cookies made from butter, powdered sugar, ground pecans)
from Betty Crocker's cookbook: RUSSIAN TEACAKES (or Mexican wedding cakes) makes about 4 dozen cookies
ingredients: 1 cup butter, softened 0.5 cups confectioners' sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla 2.25 cups all-purpose flour 0.25 teaspoons salt 0.25 cups finely chopped nuts (I use pecans)
steps: Heat oven to 400˚F. Mix thoroughly butter, sugar, and vanilla. Work in flour, salt, and nuts until dough holds together. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until set but not brown. While warm, roll in confectioners' sugar. Cool. Roll in sugar again.
Whew, it's been a while, eh? Work/House/Life just refuses to leave me alone so I can cook lately
TOP: rice, grilled burger, fried mochi with red bean, Panama golden frog (THANKS GOOGLE!) made of carved sweet potato and nori and brushed with a little water right before the picture for that lovely amphibian glow
