There were dozens of new things that Garrus Vakarian had learned about humans since walking aboard Normandy for the first time. One of those things was the peculiar habit humans had of referencing popular culture in their figures of speech; Gunnery Chief Williams seemed to be particularly fond of such references. Hed even heard times when she and Shepard had gotten into a vid quote contest to see who could quote the most vids and identify where all those quotes had come from. It was . . . strange, to say the least, that humans could find such entertainment in such curious things.
Another odd thing was that Earth apparently had a myriad of special occasions that they took great pride in celebrating. Most certainly, the turians had their own calendar events, and some of them were even talked about for months in advance, but it just seemed as if Normandy

She forcibly dropped what she was doing and gripped Fang's shoulder and leaned up to hiss in her ear as to not add to the noise being made, "Just stay still for one minute! One minute!"
Lightning's sudden proximity and the pinkette's breath at her eat made Fang go ridged. She became still so quickly, there was a brief moment of bewilderment on Lightning's part. She quickly shook it off to continue to complete Fang's disguise.

"Nothing happens on Cocoon without the Palamecians knowing." Lightning mumbled, finally stopping at a series of storage compartments against one of the walls, "That includes everything that goes on in Sanctum HQ." Fang frowned; though giving it a second thought she supposed she shouldn't have been surprised. Considering the relations between the two arms of the governing powers, why wouldn't one keep tabs on the other?

The crystal clear waters of Lake Oerba remained undisturbed by the flickers of sunlight spreading across it, dancing on it's surface. It was the lone swimmer approaching the edge of the water that marked the first movement of the day. The swimmer exited the cool lake and walked up the steps near a dock, towards a pile of what looked like a towel and clothes. Grabbing the towel and throwing it around their shoulders, the swimmer turned towards the growing source of light on the horizon. A gentle breeze rustled the leaves of the trees along the waterfront, and gently tickled at the damp pink locks of the early riser. With a small yet s

"Hey Commander," Vega solemnly said as Shepard approached him.
"What? No Lola?" she teased with the biggest smile she could muster.
"Huh?…Yeah, sorry," he replied as he looked down at the ground.
"Are you okay?"
"I don't know what I thought I'd feel coming back to Earth," Vega said, "I was ready to fight - ready to die if I had to. But seeing everything like this…"
Shepard swallowed down her own concerns and fears as she braced Vega's arm; knowing that his resolve needed to be strengthened in that moment.
"I know it's hard, but this is only temporary," she said as she locked eyes with him. "We will win this. So stay focused and don't let them shake your resolve."

Two Turians and a KeeperGarrus and Chellick were busy reviewing footage at their desks into the late hours of the evening. They were working on a case together involving suspicious cargo that was being run through the Citadel. All ships docking were legitimate which meant that when they finally pinpointed the ship, either the entire crew was "dirty" or they had an extremely shady crew member that was very good at hiding his illegal activities. In any case, they had to pinpoint what ship, or ships, the cargo was coming from and this was proving to be quite the task. They reviewed hundreds of tapes from the course of a few months, watching every ship dock, watching every crate that exited, checking the docking records to make sure everything matched up. Sera walked through the airlock and glanced at Joker who had his head resting heavily in his hand, looking as miserable as ever. EDI was sitting calmly in the co-pilot’s seat, methodically analyzing the ship’s systems. Shepard rounded the corner and headed towards Liara's office, carefully avoiding the Main Battery. She wasn't in the mood to have that inevitable conversation. She picked up her pace a little bit praying the Battery doors didn't open. They didn't. She breathed an audible sigh of relief as she walked through Liara's door and felt the doors quickly slide shut behind her.
"Shepard you can't avoid him forever you know." Liara said without looking up from her terminal.
Crap. How did she know? Was it that obvious?
"What are you talking about Liara?" she asked, trying to pawn off the best nonchalant voice she could muster.
Liara leaned back in her chair turning around to give her dear friend a knowing look.
"What?" Shepard said again; palms up in feigned innocence.
"Don't give me 'what?' You know very well what I'm talking about."
Shepard sank into a nearby chair and leaned back closing her eyes. Liara was the only one who knew what happened between

On a whim she decided to stop in and see Liara before going to the CIC. She felt that she owed her friend an apology for bolting earlier. Forming the apology in her head as she walked toward the door, she pressed key combination that unlocked it. She opened her mouth to speak as her eyes scanned the room for her friend, growing wide as they locked in on the Turian standing by the window.
The carefully thought out apology left her head blindsided by the sight of her 2 closest friends apparently in the middle of something she definitely didn't want to know anything about. She turned on her heel and walked away unsteadily from the doorway to the nearest table and held onto the edge bracing her body against it. She couldn't breathe, couldn't feel her legs; ragged gasps escaped her lips as she desperately tried to pull herself together.
Ok, Shepard. You got this. Crap! You gotta rein this shit in before it gets out of control. How am I going t

I couldn’t move. I didn’t know what to think or say. The sight I was bearing witness to was far too overwhelming. Yes, the one who murdered my father was killed. Yes, I completed my vow to personally see to the end of Genocider Syo. But, the feeling was bittersweet. It was quite possible that what just transpired… would be considered a murder. If that were the case, my life would be over, literally.
I sighed as I remembered what I told Leon to do before our fight. I had told him to face his death like a man. Well, I might as well practice what I preach… I thought as I boarded the elevator, Leon’s dead body still laying on the floor.
The ride back down to the courtroom was, personally, the longest out of any before. To me, it felt like the ride down lasted

I remember what happened next quite well. Everyone seemed rather on edge. Even the calm, cool, collected Byakuya looked rather spooked. The boys seemed rather angry about being trapped in the school while most of the girls seemed rather scared. However, out of everyone here, the one who by far took this news the worst was definitely Sayaka. She seemed completely distraught. I knew someone had to try and comfort her.
“The hell is going on!? Why the hell would any of us want to be any part of this!?” Mondo shouted angrily to what was supposed to be Monokuma, but it was then the group realized that the bear was gone.
“Well, it’s not like this bear has given us any real choice now, has he?” Leon said, sighing in realization that this is no nightmare, or rather, not one that any of us could wake up from, seeing how

“Like I said, does it really matter anymore? I was exposed, found guilty, and I’m going to be executed. My reasoning for killing him won’t change anything about my verdict and sentence,” Kyoko sneered, the first time I had heard any real emotion coming from her. “He is dead, I’m going to die for killing him, that’s that.”

That painful reminder that we needed to find the guilty party quickly returned to our minds. The fact that our lives were hanging in the balance casually strolled back into our thoughts. I slowly looked to Sayaka as she did with me.
“Do you think we can do this?” She wondered.
“I’m sure we’ll figure it out,” I replied, managing only a small grimace.
“Do we have enough evidence?”
“I’m not sure. It’ll be close, that’s for sure.”
“We’d better head down.”
As the two of us walked through the red door hand in hand, we looked at each other without saying anything more. However, someone decided to callously break the silence.

Shin and Toko cannot possibly be the killer due to post-trauma stress from the deaths of their fathers. Sayaka also cannot be the killer because of her alibi - she was with Shin the entire night. As Sayaka and I opened the door, we noticed that we were the first ones there. We took the opportunity of us being alone to give each other a soft kiss. Just as we finished, some of the others arrived. Since some of the other students were on the fifth floor examining Mondo’s corpse, it made sense that some took a little longer than others to arrive.

The days slowly seemed to roll by. We all did our basic routine and had little change between each day. To me, it seemed as though we were willing to accept the fact that we don’t need to kill each other to escape this place. Everyone seemed to realize that, if given enough time, we would find a way to get out of here. Of course, we did have our little arguments here and there. It’s to be expected, though, when you live with thirteen other people and they are the only thirteen people you ever see in the run of a day.
We all had our own little routines. We had our “assemblies”, run by Ishimaru, during each of our dinners, just so we would be up to speed on how everyone was doing. Byakuya and Celeste handled laundry

After hearing Monokuma’s announcement, I slowly sat up. I still wasn’t feeling my best, but I did not have much of a choice. If anyone were to be missing from the class trial, who knows what would happen to them. As I sat up, I was rather surprised to see Sayaka there, lying next to me on the bed and fast asleep. Garrus VS Valentines DayMass EffectGarrus VS Valentines Day in Romance More Like This
In which Garrus listens to Joker and tries to find the perfect Valentine's Day present for Shepard.
It was one of the stranger sights Garrus Vakarian had seen on the Citadel. Odd enough to make him stop in place and wonder if he should be in amazed, confused, or slightly intimidated. Probably all three at once, he decided at last.
He had never seen so much pink in his life. Well, pink mixed with plenty of reds, whites, and the occasional smattering of purple. This was the third human shop he had seen with those decorations (although this was the gaudiest one to date),and if the crowds around it were any indication, he was going to have to admit that maybe Joker had actually been serious when he insisted that Valentines Day was one of the most important of human holidays.
When the pilot had first mentioned Valentines Day to him, Garrus had been more than a little skeptical. It sounds exactly like the kind of joke the man would

On her first night together with Garrus, Shepard had been mildly concerned about the talons that she knew turians possessed. She trusted Garrus with all of her heart and knew that he never intentionally harm her, but there was that instinctual distrust of sharp claws near her softer human flesh. Of course she had been thinking of entirely different things by the time that evening reached the stage where his gloves came off, and then she didn't' have the luxury to think about minor details until after they had blow the Collector base to bits.
Being under house arrest had given her more than enough time to think, and Garrus was one of the happy memories she had she to stave on the crushing boredom. One of the questions those memories brought up was if turian anatomy charts and Alliance descriptions of turian talons as 'vicious natural weapons' were overly exaggerated or if Garrus had blunted his just for her.

Mini-fic: Lazy Evening
It's a quiet evening at home for Garrus, Shepard, and Aetius. Well, mostly quiet.
Lilliana Shepard, the former captain of the Normandy, liked showers. There was just something soothing about the feeling of the warm water cascading down, caressing her skin, and now that she was (semi) retired, she would indulge in stupidly long ones.
This was especially when Garrus was home to watch Aetius, and she didn’t have to worry about the little turian getting into some sort of trouble. Which he would if you took your eyes off him for even a second. Everyone said that it was just the age he was at, but it didn’t make it less stressful for either of his parents.
With a sigh she hit the control panel to shut off the water flow and grabbed for a towel. As much as she loved Garrus for being willing to indulge her like this, it wasn’t fair to leave him as the sole parental authority when she they were both
