You were having a bad day to say the least. Scratch that you hadn't felt this bad since you'd caught the flu last winter. Not that you were sick or anything, in fact, physically you were absolutely fine. It was just this piece.
No matter what you did, how you played it, it always sounded wrong. And the most frustrating thing? It was so much easier and simpler than almost all the other things you'd ever played.
Sighing, you lay your cello down on the dirty tiles and inspected the little hut sort of thing you were playing in. The house you were staying in was a small chateau, deep in the woods. Aww, it looked like it had a cape! That settles it! You clung onto the stuffed animal as if your life depended on it for the rest of the time. You didn't find anything else though so you bounced over to the counter and paid for it.
You hugged it as you walked towards the exit when a guy stopped in front of you. He was doubled over and out of breath, so you wondered if he was okay. "Hey are you alright?" You touched his shoulder lightly.

I nodded once, slowly.
"Now, you're a medical man, so I'm sure you'll understand you will have to be as careful and as quiet as you can don't knock the bed, or touch the equipment and he's not currently awake, but if you want to, you can see him anyway-"
"Wait what?" I asked, turning my head sharply to look at him. "See him? I can see him?"
A sympathetic smile crossed the surgeon's tired face as he continued, "Yes, you can. Mr Sherlock Holmes is alive, and we expect him to wake up any minute now."

Wed been locked inside the small room for that long. I couldnt remember the last time I slept. I couldnt sleep anymore. Not when the zombie apocalypse was a real thing, instead of something that only happened in my dreams.
There had been a few scares - dull moans of rotting vocal chords, rough scrapes of flesh against cement, and the incessant banging of dead tissue against steel that happened the night before. Or was it the night before that? There was a physical sense of time, with the old mans watch still ticking away, but no mental sense of time. Minutes were hours, days were seconds. And who knew how long that watch would keep ticking?
Of course, all those scares had been solved with a quick opening of the door and a few blasts from a shotgun. How many shells were left? I stopped counting.
I sat in front of the door, next to the young man that had helped us all to safety. The door was barricaded of course, but how long could a rusty me

There are so many places to go,
but today Ill hide in a song.
Let the lyrics be blood
rushing through each vein,
ringing true in both my head
and my heart.
Let the beat slide neatly into

Ill move to the melody,
animate my lifeless corpse,
nerves twitching with delight.
My soul knows that
I may not be able to breathe
deep in harmonies and chords.
But today I hide here.
I pretend that life is as simple
as a solitary song.

I'm writing this one for you.
Imagine the process:
Letters forming syllabic devotion,
words stringing sentences along.
Walls surround every thought,
and with each passing line break,
I try not to crumble.
These are the words you'll never see.
We are an anomaly
beset by drunken forgiveness.
In the wake of our passing
my only concern is
that I was enough for you.
A breath, and hesitation answers.
I'm tired of dwelling on
what is, what could have been.
Our pain lurks in the shadows
that our bodies leave behind.
Evidence of a relationship
Someday we'll look back and laugh.

The day I met you,
I stood at the end.
But I didn't find another line.
Instead, I did the unthinkable.
My legs ache,
my soles have worn down,
but look at me now.
Just one more person ahead -
it's almost my time.
My turn to be the one.
Who knew so many people
would cut in front of me?
It's been years now.
I lie on the ground,
watch exhausted as I'm stepped over,
and stepped on.
I've learned my place.
I know where I stand.
I'll always be waiting for you.
And you will glance behind every time,
to see me wave and smile.

A bullet hit Andrew in his lower right rib, but not deep enough to puncture his lungs. Rabeka screamed covering her mouth as Andrew buckled over in pain, but he stood his ground.
Mel lowered his gun, watching with pleasure as Andrew showed pain; grunting and breathing heavily.
Ouch, Andrew finally muttered, as he sucked in his gut, and stood up again, as if the pain didn't bother him anymore. He still felt pain, his eyes flaring bright yellow only for a moment as he tried to ignore it. Rabeka's hands lowered as she stared in shock. Luckily she could not see what was happening.
Blood soaked Andrew's shirt, trickling down his stomach and leg.
How? Mel managed to whisper, as he watched Andrew stand before him, unphased by the bullet.
Andrew felt his eyebrow rise as he grinned, showing a fang distend.
It's on, he whispered, letting out a low growl as he advanced towards Mel, who had already begun to back away. Mel's colleagues backe

As time went on, Rabeka started to remind Andrew more of himself. She would avoiding talking to people, stay very quiet, and was anxious to leave for lunch and home at the end of the day. It was beginning to annoy him because he never got the chance to talk to her. No wonder people are annoyed by me, he laughed.
Rabeka picked up her job very quickly. Other than a simple training, Andrew hardly ever had contact with her. She didn't use the phone as much as the other employees. She was either too shy or self-conscience of her own voice; she didn't communicate well. And even when she did talk, most calls were straight forward and to the point which gained her a lot of success; she unfortunately ended up bearing the brunt of several nasty costumers to start out her work experience. It stressed her out a lot.
Today was the worst so far. Rabeka had her hands on her face. Andrew could hear the angry costumer on the other line, getting more and more agitated as time

"Well, what else did he say?" Another man in the back asked, walking towards the poker table.
Les turned to face him.
"I don't know nothin', Destri. I'm just sayin' what Mel was sayin'," Carl said, rolling his eyes. Destri shrugged and sat down next to him, picking up his cards.
"Well you talked to him for a while, he had to say somethin'," Destri added.
Annoyed, Carl looked away from his cards. "Just that he had some problems."
"How could there possibly be a problem with Rabeka?" Carl laughed, lighting his cigarette. "She's a weak little thing. I can't imagine her putting up a fight."
"Eh, somethin' about a problem with her boyfriend," Carl mumbled.
"Boyfriend? Didn't know she had a hitter," Les laughed, examining his hand.

The faster Alex ran, the more Andrew pushed harder, with long strides on all fours. His long powerful claws effortlessly digging into the tile and wood floors. His muscles working overtime, pushing past the pain of his sudden and rather abnormal recovery from being poisoned.
Keeping up was easy. Alex may have appeared to be bigger and stronger looking, but running was Andrew's specialty. He had no problem keeping up with Alex. In fact, he was catching up, growing closer and attempting to snap at his hind legs frequently. However, despite being only inches behind, Alex seemed to have a solid knowledge of the area, switching paths on a dime and a settling deeper and deeper into the maze-like facility. This gave Alex the advantage, making it more difficult for Andrew to successfully catch him, despite his speed.
Both wolves panted and snarled loudly with each stride. Thankfully there were no other humans to witness the chaseyet. Andrew was sure Alex didn't

The loud booming music rang in Andrew's ears. It was loud even for being outside, but especially for a wolves' ears, which are very sensitive. Even dog whistles drive him nuts.
Andrew attempted to seem optimistic as they approached the doors, which were hidden behind two large bouncers. Andrew glared at one of them and they moved aside, allowing them in; both giving them dirty looks up and down. I could easily tear them apart, Andrew thought, smiling as he passed them. Even though they were twice his size, even in his current form he had more strength than they did. However he was grateful he wouldn't have to deal with them tonight.
Andrew's ears only continued to hurt as they walked through a hallway and into a massive round room. He peered over the dance floor, seeing nothing but a sea of sweaty bodies in movement. The sight reminded him of the dirty grease in his frying pan.
The music was provocative and erotic, only irritating him more the closer they approached the

Andrew nodded once, and began to clap softly.
She nodded for a few seconds, before letting out a small chuckle.
What? Andrew asked, a little confused.
That's interesting. Rabeka sat back, staring off into space again trying to put the pieces together.
Do you believe me? Andrew asked, eager to know what her real reaction to it was. It was no longer a game.
She breathed in slowly, I think I do.
Andrew was relieved. I can't believe it. She actually believes me. She trusts me, and she knows my secret! His fears were long past him now. She obviously didn't care what he was, as long as she knew, and now she did.
Andrew smiled and sat back, satisfied with the way things had gone. It was much easier than he thought it would be.

Rabeka lay motionless in the cell. She had been banging on the door and crying for what seemed like a whole hour. Obviously at this point, there was no use in trying.
Andrew was now gone, and she was unsure if it was the last time she would ever see him. She went over in her head the things she wanted to tell him, things she didn't have the courage to say before, and the things she was glad to tell him before he was ripped from the cell. She was at least glad she at least had the chance to thank him for doing his best to protect her, but ultimately, the blame fell on her.
"I'm such an idiot," she whispered to herself, tears puddling up in her eyes. She hadn't the strength to lift her arm and wipe them away as they dripped down onto the cold, hard cement floor. She was fully prepared to die now, right then and there. She honestly hoped it would come quick, as it seemed there was no

Andrew slipped on sweatpants and found himself a clean sleeveless t-shirt in the laundry pile. It reminded him again of the pile of chores he needed to catch up on after work.
After brushing his teeth, he went to the stairs and slid the down the rail. It was early, a little after four A.M. He didn't mind getting up early. This was his usual routine: get up, work out, eat breakfast, and go to work.
Andrew needed a good workout every morning to help him get through the day. Werewolves burn a lot of energy, and to keep themselves from getting antsy or jittery, it took a hardy work out each day to control this. A few push-ups and a quick round the park run did the trick.
One would think exercise for a powerful werewolf would be pointless, but in fact, its was essential for their overall health and well-being. A werewolf's metabolism is lightning fast, coupled with a high internal body temperature, he would need to eat a huge amount of carbohydrates every hour to ke

The next several mornings Rabeka and Andrew continued to spend time together before work. By this time they had become very comfortable with one another. Eventually, it was a planned event to meet for breakfast and walk and talk work. It was something he looked forward to each day. Their topics were very broad, and fast paced, since they had very limited time during the day to talk. Only in the mornings and sometimes during breaks could they sit down and share a conversation. Only so many minutes to use up. But each day, they never ran out of things to talk about. Andrew almost lost his voice the first week, he had never talked so much. Rabeka mostly remained shy and reserved, but she did open up a lot more than he expected. Their were unlimited surprises in this human. There were days however that she almost never talked, almost like something was bothering her. He never dared to ask what the issue was.
Today just like any other day, it was break hour during work. And

Andrew pulled up to the office building. It was already very busy with traffic going every which way on the corner street. Large crowds of people lined up at each corner to cross. "Do you want to come in with me?" Andrew asked leaning over to Rabeka, who was just waking up from a light nap.
"No, I'm going to stay here and sleep," she said, in between a few yawns.
"You're OK with being by yourself?" he asked, surprised.
"There's too many people around for them to notice me. The mob isn't that stupid. I have my phone on me though."
"OK, have it ready to dial me if there's something wrong."
"I will," she said, leaning her seat all the way back and throwing her jacking over her face.
Andrew ran his hand down her hair. She'll be OK, he reassured himself.
He cut the engine and hopped out of his Mazda. The air was thick with traffic smoke, rather difficult to pick up on any smells, but he doubted anyone from the mob would be in such a crowded place, however, if they kne
