Invader Zim ZADR: Chains and Bite Marks (Ch. 3)I awoke the next morning, body feeling numb from the previous night. . . I sat up slowly, to find myself on the floor where I had blanked out in blissful exhaustion.
I looked around, to find Zim a few feet away, laying on the floor, asleep. I figured his body must’ve blinked out to. . .
I crawled over to him, anger from the previous day completely gone. I examined him, in his dozing state, and what I observed made me sick to my stomach.
Zim’s wrists were badly bruised, most likely because of how recklessly I grabbed them, how tight I held them into place. He was shivering possibly because he had slept on the cold floor all night long. . .
I carefully lifted his head, careful to not wake him, and placed it on my lap. Why had I done that? I’m no better than him, actually compared, mine was worse. . .
I sighed, “Zim? Wake up. . .”
Zim’s eyes opened slowly, then he sat up, pain filled expression on his slender face, “D-Dib?” He seemed to have

The transmissions screen, in which he used to talk to the tallest on, was broken, and dirty with dust and some sort of mashed potatoes.
The floor was now covered in batter, flour, and other things GIR carried around with him. Zim stood, no longer too much in shock to walk around.
He placed his three fingered hand on the screen and a lone tear began to run down his cheek. He stayed like that for a moment before tearing away his hand. The memories in his mind assaulted him with guilt sadness and regret. He could not believe what he had gone though, for just a petty lie.
"Zim needs no one." He said to himself, "Zim will show them. ZIM will show them that he isn't inferior, isn't insane!" He screamed.

Zim seemed to ignore my question, and instead walked passed me, to a book shelf. He picked out a book, and opened it, apparently scanning the contents.
He began to hum lightly as he looked tough the pages. I rolled my eyes, and sat on the floor, that’s when I noticed the pain. I hissed a bit, and looked down at my torso. It was covered in bite marks, and scratches. .
Dib whimpered, “Z-Zim?”
“What do you want? Stupid big-headed-fool-boy-creature. . .” Zim sighed, as he continued with his reading.
“Where did these bites marks come from?” I asked worriedly, hoping Zim would bother answering.
“From me. . .” Zim said frown on his face, yet never looking up from his book.
“How about the scratches?” I asked, surprised.
“Zim did that to.” Zim answered, still never looking up from his book.

Gaz looked at him and shrugged, "Whatever."
Zim smiled, but his mind was in other places. He was wondering why he loved being so close to her. He couldn't help but sit next to her, and he felt so happy when he did. Zim felt a sort of longing when she was not near him. He did not understand why, but he did not question it.

GIR, who sat beside of him, was laughing and carrying on about The Angry Monkey show, and the other usual things he carry's on about.
Suddenly the room was silent, other than the purr of the TV. GIR stopped his bickering, and turned to Zim. There was a deep frown on his face, which was unusual for the tiny robot.
Finally GIR spoke, "Mastah? Why are yew so sad?" He asked.
Zim opened his eyes, and sat up, "It's nothing GIR. Just continue watching that disgusting show, and leave me ZIM, at peace." He then closed his eyes and rested once more.
GIR knew that he was not telling the truth, but he also knew he did not want to bother his master while he seemed sad, so Gir returned to his watching of the TV.

Dib waited angrily outside of the hi-skool. He passed back and forth, waiting for his sister and for Zim.
Time ticked by, and he felt like crying. Why would Zim steal his only safe heaven? How would he? Why would he? Dib begged his brain for the answers that seemed so obvious.
Finally, it was three and the teens and young adults began to run out of the building.
Dib rang his knuckles, he meant business. Then to his dismay, he saw Zim, walking closely beside of Gaz. Gaz was actually smiling and laughing at something Zim had said. That was the final straw, Dib ran up to them.

Gir then yelled, "I'ma gonna read this up!"
Then he picked up the note, and scurried to the sofa. He sat down excitedly, and laughed for reasons unknown.

Silence seemed to take over Zim and Gaz. Zim did not know how to break the silence, or how to talk to Gaz.
Gaz on the other hand wished for Zim to end said silence. She'd rather him make the mess, that she would not have to help clean up. So she waited.
Zim- who could now sit up on his own, but only in moderation- sat up, and decided it was time to break the silence.
He coughed, "Gaz, I have a question."
Gaz opened one eye, "What is it?"
Zim tugged at the collar of his shirt, "Well I just- ZIM would like to know why we haven't spoken much." Zim clenched his fists waiting for the worse.
"I really don't know Zim. I guess it's because I've been think too much." She replied, allowing Zim to settle.

Gaz could not believe her ears, not an invader. Was lied to! Gaz then could not help but ask, "Why are you telling me this?"
Zim looked at her deep into her eyes, his blue contacts dark and sad, "Because you're the only pig-smelly that I can trust.
Gaz felt the strange urge to smile again, but resisted. They both remained silently staring at each other, now with a new respect.

He hurriedly put on his pajama pants, and took off his shirt. Then he sank into his bed.
Little did Dib know that his sister has not come home? He did not know he was home all alone.
He closed his eyes in an attempt to sleep, but hours pasted and his mind wound not drift off to sleep. The reason was that he could not empty his mind of the single thought that haunted his mind since elementary skool. The image in his mind never changing. It was Tak.
This thought keep him up endless hours of the night, and once he did fall asleep, it haunted his nightmares. Why? He would always wonder why was the only girl who ever listened to him, who never made fun of him, why did she have to be an Irken? Why could he just fall in love with a normal human girl, who was not destroyed in his fight to save the world?
Why was the only girl to hate Zim, have to be an alien?

I ran out of the room, and found Zim, who was still sitting in the chair, reading that stupid book. I grabbed his wrists, and made him stand. The book landed on the floor with a thud, as I shoved him agents the wall.
I held his wrists on the wall, to keep him from retaliating. “What the Hell is on my back?!” I screamed at him.
Zim flinched at my screaming and had a very saddened expression on his, usually smirk face, “Z-Zim doesn’t know w-what your talking about.”
I growled, tightening my grip, “Yes you fucking do!”
“Dib-beast, stop your hurting Zim!” Zim cried.
“I don’t care! What happened? Why can’t I remember?!” I yelled over his pleas.

Everyone in the skool building knew it was a scientific law that when there was Zim, there was always oddities and inevitably, screaming. These screams were usually on resulting in either anger and denial at anything that could have been brought to his attention that he felt were threatening to his position and mission, or from absolutely anything that came out of his arch enemy's, Dib's, mouth. And both these oddities and screams were the very things that defined what Zim was to these humans as much as his PAK defined him as an Irken. He had

Dib found himself completely frozen again as the other approached him slowly. It was almost as if time had just stopped completely as each step created more and more anticipation and fear. He could hardly even bat an eye as his gaze was glued on to Zim with no intention of looking anywhere else.
Zim took agonizingly slow steps to him, the laughing dying down to weak 'e' sounds of an eerie laugh. He stopped when he had reached him, eyes turning wild almost instantly. He leaned forward and continued that grin of insanity, looking like he was a wrong breath away from a total meltdown. "I...want to....." The rest turned into garbled nonsense, but he paused, as if he were waiting for an answer now.
Dib didn't seem to catch on to this though as he was too intently focused on the other's horrifying expression, sending shivers down his spine the longer he stared at it. He considered running, but of course his body wouldn't even allow him to move a finger as he stood perfectly still

Dib’s hurried pace soon slowed to a steady walk as he got closer to Zim’s base. He delayed getting there as he was both afraid and nervous of what he may find here. He actually started to second guess if this was the best thing to do, but he arrived before he knew it. Once it were visible across the road from him, Dib stopped and stared at it for a short time. He drew in a deep breath, whispering unsure words of encouragement before starting closer towards it.
Zim's base looked pretty similar on the outside, except for where his gnomes keeping his house protected had been destroyed. Though, it did seem to have an eerie aura around it which was something that hadn’t been present in the past.
Dib had made it to the front door now, staring upon it as if there were something fairly interesting about it. In reality, he was just preparing himself for what he was sure would be a quite shocking sight. Finally, he pushed the door open and flicked on the lights wi

Soon all of Zim's tremors just seemed to halt. He pulled himself back up onto all fours, extending his head up with his neck still cocked at an awkward angle so he could see Dib's face. He parted his lips into the grin again, beginning to screech out in a single laughter with that eerie 'e' sound again.
The sight of that haunting grin seemed to paralyze the boy as he slowly let himself down to the floor, wrapping himself in a fetal position as he rocked himself very stiffly as if to comfort himself. Violent shivers also shook him as the cackle rung in his ears as they only intensified the dread he was already feeling.
Zim slowly began to drag himself over to him, seeing him as wounded prey now. His limbs still had trouble taking turns, looking even more like a creature in dire need of an exorcism.
Dib's eyes expanded as the other drew closer to him. He didn't blink now since in his mind, blinking only made him made him more vulnerable than he already was, even though he wo

Dib remained in an almost trance-like state for a few moments as he recalled a few memories of Zim. He took another deep breath before speaking again in a quiet tone. “Zim... He was pretty interesting.”
"Yes? What is his personality like?" The doctor questioned, beginning to write again at the others decision to elaborate more on the subject.
Dib slowly looked back to the doctor, shifting in his seat as he considered the question. “Well, he was loud and obnoxious and would often insult the human race whenever he had the chance to. But, he was very proud of his race and his leaders. He made every attempt to take over Earth even if he failed every time. But I liked that about him...” Dib’s voice trailed off some as his gaze lowered. “I admired that about him actually..”

Resolve came in the form of first sunlight beaming through the shattered hole that was at one point a window. It immediately melted away the shadows and extinguished the coolness that the night had brought. Everything was completely visible now and revealed to the paranoid human.
However, even after the sun had come up, Dib took a while to convince himself that there wasn't actually anything there, and that it had all just been a crazy delusion in his head. After several more minutes of watching everything around him, he had finally convinced himself that he was alone now, which actually relaxed him and made him realize how tired he actually was. It was too late to try and sleep now though since he had to get ready for another dreadful day of school.
He didn't try too hard, though, as he decided to stay in the bloodied and torn cloths from the night before and only ran his hands over his hair in an attempt to smooth it out. He was far too tired and stressed to be concerned

Dib stared at Zim wide-eyed in panic as he approached him slowly, backing up a few clumsy steps before bumping into the fence behind him. He looked over his shoulder and eye it, dreading the fact that he had to climb the damned thing if he wanted to avoid the same fate his teacher had met.
After glancing back at Zim another time, seeing that he was getting closer to him quicker than he thought, he turned and faced the fence and backed up a few steps. He drew a shaky breath before running at it and making a leap as he got close to the fence, grunting as he hit it and started his desperate climb.
A screech of obvious rage exploded from the hobbling being that was trailing far behind his escaping form. “IB!!!!” The name practically pierced through the air as wild eyes, even through those contacts, locked onto him frighteningly and his arms outstretched in a dire want to rip the other from the rusty chained fence.

After several minutes of just staring at the computer in complete terror, Dib turned to the platform and headed towards it. He shut off the lights on his way out, the computer’s bright monitor illuminating the room now. His head turned to look back at it, nodding once as if to thank it before stepping onto the plate in front of him. The platform rose again for him to take him back upstairs into the wreckage. Now he had an answer as to what happened and why Zim was behaving like he was. The better question was, would he regret seeing that though; seeing the complete self-destruction of his now former worst enemy and now current worst nightmare?
The thing that made seeing that video so traumatizing was that he had actually grown to some what care about Zim. Yes, they were enemies both out to stop each other at every turn, but before Zim, he didn’t have a reason to get up every day and go to school. Zim was everything he had always wanted; an alien that had found

Upon arriving home on that quiet, eerie night, Dib was relieved to find that no insane Irken had followed him. He was alone now, and he had the feeling he would have a peaceful night in contrast to the others he had experienced.
As Dib had made his way into the house and up to his room, the lingering smell of day old blood hit him. It wasn’t quite as harsh and foul as the pile of junk found in Zim’s closet. However, it was enough to make the boy groan in both agony and nausea, but the smell didn’t seem to stop him from hobbling to his bed and allowing himself to collapse upon it.
At least he was safe for now, and tonight would be one of the only nights open for him to sleep without much worry. Zim was still too weak to come for him, and the computer was keeping him indoors for tonight.
As Dib lay on his bed with his eyes pealed wide open, he felt himself almost grow drowsy as time proceeded. He even fell into a deep and much needed sleep within fifteen

Upon realizing there was no sign of the Irken even making an attempt to get into his house, Dib felt it were safer to be in there now than outside so he rushed towards it in quite a hurry. Once he had burst in the door, he slammed it furiously behind him and turned to lock the door for an extra sense of security. Hopefully Gaz had a key to the house so she wouldn't bother him with her obnoxious banging as she did quite often.
After locking the door, Dib turned his back to it and leaned against it, closing his eyes and taking deep breaths in an attempt to calm himself after all of the stress he had endured that day. Unfortunately, he could only think of Zim as he stood there, images of that haunting grin flashing in his memory.
The boy let out a groan of both agony and frustration as he headed towards the downstairs bathroom, pulling out a first aid kit to bandage his wounds before heading up to his bedroom hoping that some relaxation would help to clear his mind. Of cours

7. Small sleeping bag for Gir
Zim had looked up before what a sleeping bag was and he now knew what it is used for. He had called the computer and told it to make two sleeping bags during skool.
Now, at home, he packed what was needed. He put the bullet, goggles, stake, and radio in his PAK. He put the Garlic in a bag and put it in his PAK. Then asked the computer where the sleeping bags were.

Gaz looked at hers with slight curiosity and took a bite. It was chocolaty, with a nut-creamy texture to it. The waffle shell was tough, but easy to chomp through. She sighed with delight and took another bite.
They ate in silence. When they were finished Gaz went to the tent door and looked back. "Do you want to come?" She asked.
"Yes!" Gir leapt up and ran to her. He hugged her and it almost knocked her down. "Were is we goin'?" he asked.

"Oh! Sounds fun!" They walked together to the smal

"Let's go do something."
Zim clutched onto Dib as he felt those arms bring him in close, grateful that Dib hadn't decided to give up right then. His breath came out shakily as his 'spooch beat so hard that it shook the small frame of the alien.
At this moment, Zim was only aware of the human that held him. It didn't matter that he had his wig on, and his antennae were hindered by the fabric; Zim knew that even without it, he would only be able to sense Dib. Enveloped by his warmth and scent, Zim couldn't think of anyplace he'd rather be.
He frowned a bit when Dib pulled away, but gladly took his hand.
He sighed a bit. "Do what? There's nothing to do around here, really. We'd have better luck finding something to do in sp

And you would fight for Zim out of loyalty?" Zim questioned finally. It was a strange thought; all these years of fighting each other, why would Dib fight for Zim out of loyalty?
Dutifully, Dib scooped out the vanilla cream and plopped it onto the cone before handing it over to the alien menace. "Here, your majesty. I hope you enjoy. I lost a leg while getting it for you but, it was worth it." Once the ice cream was handed off, the teen walked over to the register to pay for their cones, wondering if the old man recognized him. From the dimness in his expression, Dib guessed 'no'. Somehow it was both a relief and a disappointment
Zim rolled his eyes at Dib. He liked the idea of Dib being his faithful knight, but the human's obvious sarcastic tone was ruining the imagery.
Hesitantly the alien tasted the plain white treat, this time not being surprised by the frostiness. This one was a much more subtle sweetness; it was creamy and surprisingly good.

"You say that as if you actually believe I would break before you would."
"Why had that happened? Why now--here, of all places?" His tone was dripping with frustration as he asked the empty room. "For Irk's sake .Dib shouldn't know about my PAK; he could use it against me!" Although he was already aware of all the other ways Dib had some control over him. He ran a hand over his neck, surprised to find a smudge of violet on his hand as he looked it over. "DAMN IT!" He shouted in surprise. "He did it to me again!" He growled.
"I can't believe I gave into him " He scolded himself. He was an invader! What was he thinking letting Dib have so much control of him? Dib should be under ZIM, not the other way around!
He huffed as he tried to take his mind off it. Instead he focused on his PAK, trying to decide how to lie to Dib about it. As far as Dib knew, this could've been normal for the Irken. How much did the human know about his PAK, anyway? Zim began to

"Not my fault your little legs can't keep up." Dib mocked, casually eyeing the trees while his companion gasped as though fatally wounded, standing upright.
"Tiny, puny, pathetic?" The boy mused. "You're all those things."
"How dare you?! I am perfectly sized and far from pathetic, Yanno being a high class irken elite. Unlike you." Sniffing arrogantly, Zim sauntered forward. Dib pulled out a map from his backpack.
"Oh? How am I pathetic?" The Irken growled and stomped around to the front of Dib, trying to get a good look at the map, but the human held it up too high.

He looked back at Dib, his brow furrowing (as much as it could when you didn't have eyebrows, anyway) before he finally asked. "Enemies don't do kissing, do they?" He was a bit embarrassed that needed to ask, but he tried to mask it by slurping at the milkshake.

The next morning when I woke up I could feel other presents besides Dib.
When things finally came into view Purple and Red were in front of me Dib holding me like a scared little child would after he had a bad dream and finding comfort from a stuff animal.
"Just give him to us!" The tall purple eyed Irken leader said.
"No " Dib whined holding me tighter one of Red's spider legs on Dib's neck. A small drip of red came down from the tip.
'This was a sight you want to see when you wake up ' I thought as I pulled away from Dib's grasp kissing him one last time literally and going over to the leaders.
"No. No. No. No. No." Over and over the human cried the word.
Purple looked at Red unsure as to rather take me away from the suffering boy or not.
Dib was bawling as I was hand-cuffed.
I just looked at him as Red took me away from the cabin. Away from Dib. Away from the camp grounds.
Oh it truly did pain me to see the human cry. I had a plan. It would be a great plan if the

Earth was conquered because of me. Everything I worked for now gone. How am I the only human to survive that night? That night I watched as Earth caught of fire. People were running from Irkens that had lasers on them. I was holding Gaz waiting to be killed. She wept on me in my room. Everything was gonna change when one small defective Irken walked in.
I cling to Gaz not trust this one Irken in particular, glaring at him.
"Now, Dib-human, why glare at your savior? Zim had to run all over town looking for you. Do you want to die?" He asked arms crossed. "Cause Zim can kill you right now."
"OF COURSE I DON'T WANT TO DIE!" I cried. "But because of you," I stabbed a finger at the Irken just to show the blame. "I'm gonna have to!"
"Zim is here not to kill the Dib unless he honestly wants Zim too. Zim is here to save you and only you. Now you can die like the rest of the human race or you can come with Zim and he will protect you from this." Zim explained.
I stopped and sta

When I woke up it wasn't on my own willing I heard a guitar playing.
I open my eyes to find Dib strumming the guitar. It was only a light wood color nothing special. He didn't even notice me as he started singing. I only smiled as I watched him play a song I've never heard of. I knew it wasn't his own song. He never did play his own songs only songs of other people have song. It all deepened on his mood on what he sung.
"Best thing about tonight that were not fighting. Could it be we've been this way before. I know you think that I'm not trying, I know your wearing thin down to the core. But hold your breath because tonight is the night that I will fall for you over again don't make me change my mind or I won't live to see another day I swear its true because a girl like you is impossible to find. Your impossible to find " Dib smiled that's when he looked up to see me his face a dark color. "Oh you were met to hear that "
"No keep singing." I whined. "I love it when

"I'm glad to hear that." Dib smiled.
"Dib when we did that I don't get it. Why did we do that?" I asked. "Like I know the basics like a boy and a girl. It was kind of like how Irkens do it but different "
"Well how do Irkens do that?" Dib asked.
"Well its basically the same just I don't know the effects of a Irken and human would be once you do that will a human girl have side affects?" I asked.
"Maybe. If not protected a girl human could get pregnant or get a STD." Dib blushed.
I looked at him for a minute confused.
"Sexually Transmitted Disease." Dib explained.
"Oh " I whispered.
Something slides under the door. I get up and retrieve it.
I take it to Dib and read it out loud.
"Dearest Cabin residents, this here letter is to inform you a camp dance is happening in two days. The girls from the camp not to far from here will come and you will ask one of them if you like. There shall not be any boys just hanging out with other boys. You are all to dance wit

I watch Zim run around his base on Earth searching for something. I sighed in the corner I was in. I was his guardian angel there for I had to protect him. Sadly though, Zim couldn't see me. I stand up and walked through him to go the couch and watch tv.
Zim jumped and rubbed his arms. "GIR! Why did you turn on the ac?!"
I sighed again when the little robot came running down screaming he didn't. Lets have a little fun. I get up and put Zim's hand in mine then kiss his neck.
Zim turned around to see nothing. His eyes widened as he smiled a weak smile. "D-Dib?"
I smirked so he knew it was me. I go over to a piece of paper and panicle that was on a table then start writing on it.
How did you know?
Zim read it then smiled. "Because who else would

"Tak!" Zim yelled in the hallways. I was skipping class and hiding behind a trash can when Tak and Zim ran by.
I get out of my hiding spot and chase after them.
Tak's short purple hair swaying in the wind. Her jeans tight against her legs. Her red shirt floppy in Zim's grasp.
I stop as Zim spun her around.
"Go away!" She cried.
"No." Zim growled.
Zim tripped over my shoe by accident making him pull Tak's shirt off.
"AHHHH!!" She shirked holding her arms around her chest. "Shirt."
"No." Zim growled.
"Jeez Zim! Give her back her shirt." I shouted punching Zim in the stomach and grabbing the clothing handing it to Tak.
Zim attacked me as she got dressed. I punched him in his jaw then got up and walked over to Tak.
She hugged me. "Thank God you were here."
"Its all right." I smiled rubbing her back.
"Dib get me away from him." Tak growled. She turned nice and innocent after being on earth for awhile and we became best friends.
I do. I take her to the lunchroom since it was n

I'm heart broken.
"T-T-Tak!?" I stammered.
Tak pulled away from Gaz as soon as she heard me.
"Dib I can explain." She whispered.
"Ok explain." I growled. "Don't lie to me either."
"I love you both." Tak whispered.
"Well its me or Gaz. You can't have both." I whispered.
"I choose you, Dib. I'm sorry." Tak smiled going over to me and nuzzling my neck.
Zim sighed as he walked away sadly.
I wonder what's going through holly shit Zim loves me. LOVES.
"Are you sure Tak?" I asked now having to have to chose my two people I cared about. Its strange what can change in 7 years. I love Zim but do I love him in that way? Those two kisses they were amazing but Tak.
"Yes." Tak smiled.
I kiss her. Nothing. It was plain and boring no sparks no nothing. What? I love Tak.
We split and Tak sighs.
"Tak you can be with my sister I wouldn't mind getting replaced by her as long as your happy." I smiled.
Her antennas perked up a bit and smiled hugging me.
"Your so sweet Dib. Thanks I

We head outside and into Maki's car.
We go down a street and I get out. "Thanks." I smiled.
"Any time. Oh and did Lilly have a good time at the concert?" Maki asked.
"I think she did." I smiled.
"Good. Well ok go get some rest. Bye." Maki whispered.
"Ok. Bye." I nodded shutting the door and running in my house.
"Dib?" I asked turning on the lights.
"Mmmmm " A whine came from the corner.
I go over to find Dib breaking down still.
I look at him closer to find he was bleeding.
"Dib what happened?" I asked.
"T-T-They " Dib just stopped and clung to me.
"Dib calm down everything will be alright." I whispered.
The boy looked up at me whipping his face and hugged me for moments.
"They came and were looking for you. I told them you weren't here and when they found out I had no idea where you were they beat me up. They said if you evened dared to keep your kids alive they would come and kill us all " Dib cried.
I hold the boy close and whispered.
