Another piece painted for the Star Wars LCG by Fantasy Flight Games.
I am told this one had a brief appearance as the titular 'Luke Skywalker' card during the first GenCon playtesting.

Now that the Star Wars LCG core set is out I can at long last share some more pieces.

Here comes Leia, as always resourceful and brave.

I think both of my Lando illustrations were revealed around the same time back when Edge of the Empire came out, so I decided to post this smaller LCG version at a later date.

It's a later date!

This one is from the Edge of Darkness expansion:http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_npm_sec.asp?eidm=184&esem=1&epmi=s

Fantasy Flight's Star Wars card game is out!

On the upside, I can now post what remaining art I have from the core set. On the OTHER upside, there are also quite a few more illustrations to come for the expansions, so look for more in the coming months.

If you're interested, there's more where that came from:

Piece done for Fantasy Flight Games' new "Star Wars: Age of Rebellion" Roleplaying core book! I like to imagine that Luke is protecting Echo Base from a whole army of Wampas. ;)

Here is another painting I did for the Star Wars Essential Reader's Companion.

-------------
This was a very fun job... But quite a challenge as well. I had 2 months to do 39 illustrations for this book.

While speed is a strength that normally lands me a lot of my work, I still want to do as best as I can. It can become quite a challenge. I pushed VERY hard on this assignment to do my absolute best-- even having to work it around my regular freelance work. But I pulled it off... And I am happy with the way it came out.

Most of my artwork I post here is done in 'portrait' style because I'd really like to draw a Star Wars comic cover one day! But I thought I should try to demonstrate that I can also create 'landscape' scenes too - so I've put together a series of three pictures depicting scenes that 'sort of' happened in the original Star Wars trilogy.

There was a scene filmed, but not completed, for Return of the Jedi (apparently as a joke) - showing the Imperial Guard using their force pikes to execute Moff Jerjerrod for slacking with his job of building the second Death Star.  I thought that scene, if it had been used, could have actually been important in demonstrating Darth Vader's wavering devotion to his Emperor. The way I imagine it - the Emperor orders his guards to execute the hapless Moff - but Vader actually protests - and tries to remind the Emperor that this was a loyal soldier who delivered a functional Death Star. I think this would be consistent with Vader's old appreciation, as Anakin, for his troops - and would start to sow the seeds for his eventual redemption at the end of the movie!

This is an original depiction of characters created by George Lucas. It was drawn in Photoshop using a Wacom pad. Disney owns the copyright to Star Wars and its characters and this image is fan art that isn't for sale or reproduction.

I like the design of the Shock Troopers from Revenge of the Sith... so I thought I'd draw some - and this is the result.

When I started this I also drew the Emperor in the background with his arms raised up to the sky shooting force lightning - as I'd imagined this scene taking place after they'd landed on Mustafar (the volcanic planet) - with him commanding the troops to "find Lord Vader". But... it kind of distracted from the Shock Troopers so I left him out. And I think the piece is better for it.

This is a low-res version of my drawing which I sketched on a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and finished on my desktop PC using Photoshop and a Wacom pad. It's an original depiction of George Lucas’s / Disney’s copyright characters – intended solely to show my artistic ability. I’m not a professional – this is fan art – and none of my work is for sale or available for reproduction.

I've already posted other drawings of Darth Vader, but he's a popular character - and I like drawing him - so I thought it was time to do another!

I'd also been wanting to draw some TIE Fighter Pilots and thought up an idea so that I could include them with Vader in the same piece...

If you've seen the original Star Wars movie - you might remember the scene where Vader gets a couple of pilots to follow him into battle against the rebels. I couldn't help think that they took it a little too leisurely as they marched off round the corner like they were heading straight to the fridge for a snack. What they needed was a red flashing emergency light to generate some urgency! So here they are - red light on - and whadya know - they're all running to their ships now!

In reality I just made that up because I wanted to draw the characters in a dynamic pose - and with some red highlights (which always looks good against black). But I hope my little backstory helps sell the idea!

This is an original depiction of George Lucas's characters - drawn in Photoshop using a Wacom pad. I might put up a work-in-progress of this if anyone's interested because I took a couple of screenshots at various stages. You might also find it interesting that I used Google Sketchup to create a 3D model of the background to ensure that the perspective is right (after having sketched it out freehand first). This is a reduced resolution version of the original which is 600dpi.

Hope you like.
