Colored sketch commission for

Requested were characters Xue and Lian.

...they "speak" together with a particular language with their hands so, they're quite close everytime.
Idea for them : Angst and wicked scene when Xue is empress or a soft scene when they're in the beginning of their love.
Colors : Cold colors, pale blue, pale purple...


The girl is blind and the boy is mute. Due to their bad destiny, she ended up as Empress against her will and he cannot help her nor reach her anymore, despite being the Strategist of Imperial Chancellor.

I picked the angsty approach on the scene. I think this would be sort of scene where they meet and it is clear to him he cannot "speak" with her as before - he cant touch her. I let her show him her back, as to declining him.
And he is in shock of the realization, he cant speak, but still opens his mouth instinctively, as if to speak, somehow reach her.

The color choice o the customer made me very happy, I love this combination a lot.

My entry for *raka-raka's contest about her characters from "Jade Eyes"

The theme of the contest was "Tea", so I thought 'awesome, gonna make a TEA PAINTING!!!'... how naive of me, thinking that different blends of tea could make substantial colours differences :°°DDDD (not to mention that it took me hours and tons of layering to achieve a visible shading!)
Note to self: just drink the tea next time.

But still, here's my attempt
it was drawn in pencil and painted with green tea, red fruits tea and a "classic blend" tea, which I suppose stands for "let's just put random tea leafs together".
Highlights were added later with white acrylic.

In any case, this is the best smelling painting I ever made *_*
