Untrusted Statue by his sides. Statue was holding what looked like a spear.
“Fuck you!” Stephano yelled.
“I’m afraid we can’t let you sacrifice the rose,” Barrel
said. He nodded at the Bro, and in a puff of smoke, several copies of Bro
filled the hallway behind them. Then they all charged.
“Shit!” I ran into the alter room, having no way to defend
myself. A blur of events happened that I was never able to process, and
suddenly I found myself facing the Barrel while the others fought Statue and
the Bro copies.
“Hand-on-hand combat?” he asked casually, “I know you’re
worthless at anything else.”
Rage boiled in my chest and I ran to him when he wasn’t expecting

The ventilation system, coming close to dysfunctional after all he ages without maintenance, could do no more than sound constant ruckus. The thumps were low and distant, but every one of them sent waves through the tiles and it felt like the earth was being shaken from where I cradled myself on the floor. How many seconds were in between every wave, I didn't know. My seconds transmogrified into the time with every throb, my sense of time completely out there without foothold. It was as if the thick, impenetrable walls of the hospital shrouded us in a sense of confusion, it's walls holding us in the dim lights and grimy air and drugging us to what was real or not. The lights constantly flickered, dancing above like the faintest, glimmering spirits, shining bright enough so that we could see our hands at one moment and then leaving us in darkness in the next. I didn't know how many days had passed, nor did it
