The prince of the far, far away land wanted to marry the princess, but she rejected him. As a punishment the princess was sent to a lair of a dragon so that it would kill her. But as soon as the dragon and the princess saw each other they fell madly in love and lived happily ever after. The end!
This is based on a sketch I made about two years ago, and I've just now been feeling that nostalgic tug on my heart that makes me remember all the tea parties and mud pies of my childhood with the neighborhood monsters. They came from under the bed, inside the closet, and the darkest crevices in the woods in the fading twilight of the last night of Summer, before I would abandon them for adulthood. Sometimes I think, or pretend, I can feel them snatch at my ankles as I'm getting out of bed, or watching me from the knots in trees as I walk by them... not altogether forgotten.
I used pencils, watercolors, and Photoshop to complete this piece.
The very romantic and fairytale town located by the Rhein river called Bacharach, Initially I wanted to go to Oberwesel again, but accidentally got off the train at Bacharach, one stop before Oberwesel, wow, what an amazing fairytale place.
I made this drawing in the watch tower of the vineyard on my A4 sketch pad, finished the pen and ink layer in one day and quickly drew colours with pencil on top.
