June started on a positive note with Isabelle's twentieth birthday celebration on the first of the month. The shindig the Fusiliers threw for her wasn't a surprise, but it was very significant because it was the only birthday party she'd ever had in her life. Having been raised very poor with only her mother, and then losing her mother at the age of twelve, well, there simply hadn't been a lot a special times in Isabelle Pearl's life.
All that changed with the birthday party. Alexandra pulled out all the stops, spared no expense. Isabelle was treated like royalty right from the start with Marie serving her breakfast in bed. She was taken on a whirlwind shopping tour of Innsbruck, instructed to pick whatever she wanted: clothes, jewellery, electronics, sim chips, holoplayers; anything and everything (among her choices Isabelle stocked up on hologames and got a new SeraVideo game player to

The Altstadt Palace was the most spectacular building on Kolovraty and the official residence of Duke Josef Sheridan. First built in 2673 when the system was part of the Rim Worlds Republic, the building was a close copy of the Hofburg Palace found in Vienna, Austria on Old Earth. The ruler of Kolovraty at the time had wanted something beautiful and grand, and had looked to the distant past for inspiration. It had been badly damaged during the Amaris Civil War, but when the Lyran Commonwealth annexed the system after the war, Duke Sheridan's ancestor restored it to its former glory.
In the heart of the palace complex were a series of magnificent halls that could serve a variety of functions, and one of the most impressive was the Ceremonial Hall. It was here that Duke Sheridan was hosting the royal ball in honour of the Fusiliers. In attendance were assorted members of Kolovraty's nobi

There was no denying that after a few days aboard Distant Memory, the presence of Wasp and Stinger had given the crew's morale a big boost. They were incredibly cute, as all kittens are, and many of the crew (notably the women) had dropped by Garadun's cabin when off duty to visit and watch them play or even just sleep.
The sight of them romping along the grav deck's main hallway was something that brought on many adoring smiles. Garadun didn't take them out of his quarters often, but when he did they always drew admirers. They were Sian-Xiaos, a small Capellan breed which was primarily descended from the Munchkin. It had been mixed with the Ragamuffin for a calm, friendly personality and longevity; kittens took almost three standard years to fully mature. It had then been further bred with the Siamese for colouration, with lovely blue eyes and medium-length fur. However, the k

After three days aboard Shearling the biggest problem Cera had to deal with was boredom. The initial shock of take-off had long since vanished. There was nothing for her to do, not really. The running of the DropShip and its maintenance was in the hands of its capable crew. She didn't try to help them with their duties, knowing she'd only get underfoot. If someone asked her to lend a hand, then fine. Otherwise she tried to keep out of their way and not be a problem.
Watching 'Mech battles on the vid could only kill so much time before it got boring. It was an advantage for any ship in the Solaris system, getting to pick up broadcasts (often live) of the Games. But Cera was a mercenary now, not an arena fighter. Watching what was going on, keeping an eye on the competition, keeping up-to-date on the race for the Championship, knowing what the bookies were sayin

The Kin Shan was a Union class DropShip converted to hauling cargo, although its bays could still be rigged to store BattleMechs if it was required. The Europa was a Mule class and completely dominated the tarmac at the Robert Marsden Spaceport. At 158 meters across it was almost twice the diameter of the Kin Shan. It massed three times as much and could hold more than eight thousand tons of cargo in its bays.
The arrival of both DropShips had made news on the local networks and was cause for celebration among the people of Kolovraty. Located as the world was on the edge of the Periphery, they didn't get nearly as many cargo ships each standard year as they'd like. Two ships loaded with merchandise at the same time was definitely something to be glad about. In addition to all sorts of regular supplies they also carried a lot of mail; the bulk of which was things people had o

After five weeks aboard Distant Memory, as she made her way across Steiner space, things had become fairly routine for everyone. The crew would jump the ship to the zenith or nadir point of a star system, the area would be scanned for any other vessels and potential threats (the latter unlikely this deep in Lyran territory, but it never hurt to be cautious) and then when it was clear they would jump again an hour or so later to give people time to recover from the first jump. The new system would be scanned, and after it was declared safe they would unfurl the jump sail and begin the process of recharging. When the batteries were completely charged, they'd furl the sail and jump, starting the whole process all over again.
Days had a tendency to blur one into the other, but a few happy events broke up the monotony. The first was Alexandra keeping a promise she'd made

Erik and Isabelle were welcomed into the ranks of the Fighting Fusiliers with enthusiasm by their new comrades, and the two MechWarriors were a little overwhelmed, especially Isabelle. With her quasi-pirate background she had expected a lot of suspicion, but the Fusiliers were more curious than anything else. There were endless stories and rumours about the assorted Bandit Kingdoms, yet little solid fact. Marie in particular liked her straight away, and the two of them quickly became good friends.
As for Erik, well, the ladies certainly had no complaints. Marie and Laura had been very friendly from the start, and were even more delighted when they found out that he and Isabelle weren't an item. Isabelle said they were friends and nothing more. Ian was a bit wary of the "big blonde Norse god" at first (as Cera kept calling him) because Erik was taller than he was and really cut an

It turned out that Leutnant Herman Stoltz wasn't quite the prig Garadun had taken him for. He was a bit formal in his manner and bearing, but once you sat down with him and talked over a beer, he was a fairly decent guy. He was at least big enough to admit when he was wrong and was willing to learn from his mistakes. He stayed on Kolovraty for over a week while the Kin Shan took on a new load of cargo (mainly lumber) and then was on his way back to his posting with the 15th Lyran Regulars.
Christmas came and went. Most Fusiliers didn't celebrate the ancient festival, and for those who did it really wasn't more than a secular holiday. This included Garadun, Marie and Alexandra; as well as Cera who'd adopted Christmas from her best friend because it meant giving and getting presents, which was always fun. Alexandra spoiled the girls with jewellery and Garadun got an antique book

Jimmy had made the comment that the Fusiliers should simply have an assigned parking space at the Robert Marsden Spaceport and be done with it, considering how much time they spent on the tarmac waiting for DropShips to land. Both the APC and Alexandra's aircar were parked one in front of the other, with the Fusiliers lounging in the vehicles, chatting, or pacing while they waited for Shearling to land.
In one of life's weird moments and completely against all expectation, the would-be assassin had been found. Well, presumed would-be assassin if you wanted to get all technical about it, because the suspect was dead and couldn't be questioned. A massive, non-stop investigation had turned up the presence of someone in the city whose records were suspicious. Sir Henry Albern was frankly amazed at the speed which things progressed. Lady Alexandra contacted him that Saturday morning and told him she accepted the contract, provided a few articles were adjusted. He met with her later in the morning in her suite and agreed to increases in compensation. This meant one hundred percent for straight support costs instead of sixty, and fifty percent for battle loss compensation instead of twenty. He'd had instructions not to haggle much with any mercenary unit unless their demands were ridiculous.
From her suite they made their way to Galatean City's Hiring Hall where the updated garrison contract was readjusted and then signed by both parties. It was ratified and witnessed by ComStar's Mercenary Review Board, making it fully legal and binding. Every member of the Fighting Fusiliers was tremendously excited. Look you in the eyes and tell you how much I really want you too.
It shouldn't be that hard to say a short "I love you",
But falling in love has even taken me to a place far from complete.
Regret?Everyone writes about broken dreams, whether love is worth the pain, the crushed dreams of yesterday and chipped hearts incomplete. Everyone writes out of insecurities of the beautiful that brings us anguish of a heartful. I believe that the more negative things we spread in this world, the darker this world will become. I long for you even when you are silly or frustrating,
But especially when you are sweet and loving.

Even when we are together, the aching of my heart longing for more.

If you could do being without me.
Whether you'll still laugh as beautifully,
With that small smile lingering all day long unconsciously.
I really don't think I can do all that without you.
And even if I could come to love again.
It would never again feel as easy as breathing,
Like having a heart just a little smaller than being complete.
Maybe I'm just wondering how important I am to you,
How true your beautiful words are,
How I know with such a certainty,
That you are the reason for all my lingering smiles.

Not for a very long time.
You've got lives to lead,
But mothers will be mothers!
And heroes will be heroes.
I'm sorry I left it to you.
All to you to fight him.
The menace once Anakin Skywalker,
My noble husband your loving father...
Replaced by evil Darth Vader.
You fight the phantom menace,
Determined to stop his carnage.
I hadn't the strength to stop him
And Obi-Wan couldn't kill him.
We failed so it's down to you now.
I'm proud of you,
As I watch from beyond the force.
Leia, you're just like me!
Luke, you're just like Ani.
But you've both got my height.
I'm here for you if you cry.
I'm that comforting voice
At the back of your minds.
Always with you no matter what.
That's what mothers are, forget you nots.

Saving worlds from impending danger.
His mind twisted and weakened by love.
He killed her.
It's the reason I arose.
I am stronger with my red lightsaber.
My lust for destruction,

The saga starts out like this,
Sweet kid who looks barely six.
He's a slave like his mom.
Then his life went off like a bomb.
He's sold to Watto then,
Working hard time and again.
He built Threepio,
His talents started to show.
A ship from Naboo,
Landed with a queen in its crew.
With Jedi and guards,
The hyperdrive blasted to shards.
Ani and Padmé meet,
Ani talks really sweet.
She goes on her way,
But that's not the last say.
Ani races his pod,
Others end with a plod.
He wins the race and he's glad.
Watto's bets were real bad
Ani says goodbye to his mom,
A Jedi he will become.
The parts have been gained,
But a Sith shows some disdain
To the capital they go,
Where the queen tries to show,
Her planet in need,
But she don't succeed.
Anakin and Qui-Gon,
With Padawan Obi-Wan.
Face the council who say,
No training for Ani no way.
Off to Naboo,
Say to Qui-Gon adieu.
He dies while Obi survives
Will train Ani who cries.
Now a padawan,
Something Yoda agrees on.

I can't do anything alive,
I just want to escape.

But for now he will be evil.
I'm setting up his termination...
Until then I'll be dead.

If you climb the mountain,
You reach the very top,
And the only thing,
Is back down again.
Maybe I should've warned you.
Tried to convince you.
That dreams don't become reality,
Unless you let them be.
But you needed more than me.
I'm not everything to you that matters,
The whole galaxy could shatter,
You wanted to fight the Sith,
And bring us peace.
But every mountain falls.
And you're no different.
You turned the page,
You climbed the rock,
Now you're on the way down.
To find your whole life has changed.
And as you fall down,
Burning as rocks break your fall,
You realise that you've lost
More than you could afford.
That life's been unkind.
And my story goes just like this.
You're not everything to me that matters,
A whole world need not shatter.
From the force I see,
Our children grow.
No Ani you won't see.
That by climbing the rock at all,
You deliver fate.
As you were always going to fall.
There's a bigger mountain to climb.

Is now crushed along with my peace.
My muse, my love, my soul,
Taken away from me so suddenly.
I am snapping under the weight
Of the broken, shattered remains.
A Dead LoveYou don't love meA Dead Love in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
As much as you say you do.
You don't care for me
Like I care for you.
When all of these miles between us
Whisper their sweet tidings,
You flee teasingly from my fingers
And go deep into hiding.
My heart searches for you,
But you are nowhere to be found.
Lost away in my ever after
Where there is a broken sound.
Silence fills my once treasured dreams of you and I.
They tease me quite rudely at the back of my mind.
I fight them most desperately
Like the sailor fights the tide.
Your memory suffocates me,
For I am drowning in the emptiness of your shell.
You are no longer with me
In this life that is a hell.
I Dreamt of YouI dreamt of youI Dreamt of You in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
The night before,
But this one wasn't
Like any before.
You held me close
To your chest,
And there my cheek
Stayed at rest.
Your lips were soft,
Your touches, sweet,
Your perfection was obvious,
From your head to your feet.
Your kisses came
And never went,
And this was much
To my content.
Your hands explored
My slender waist,
As your tongue went
To see how I taste.
Your eyes were bright,
As were mine,
And our lungs breathed
In perfect time.
My heart gave way
Towards the end
When my stubborn mind
Began to bend.
Your kisses convinced
My battered heart
That our precious love
Would make it hard to part.
Our kisses turned to hugs,
And you held me close,
And I smiled because it was
What I wanted the most.
And then you slipped
That ring on my finger
And bliss overwhelmed me
As your hands began to linger.
And I laughed and smiled
As I kissed your lips
And you placed your
Hands on my hips.
And then I awoke that
Morning to find you there
With your fingers still
Tangled in my hair.

And I am merely the second.
You are the whole picture,
And I am only part of it.
Your grace and your precision
Are followed by my feeble ticks.
You are the king in his fine, dark castle.
I float upon the River Styx.
My desire for you
Put your power and glory to shame;
I fight most desperately for your affection,
But it is in vain.
I am nothing to you
But some weak girl.
You just can't see
That you are my whole world.
I would climb every mountain.
I would swim the seven seas.
I would do almost anything
To get you to love me,
But I am only the secondhand,
While you are the minute.
My heart is small and fragile,
And you're the only one it.

He is not.
At long last
The pieces are coming together
To form this monstrous conclusion.
Either she cries, or she dies. The
Right choice being none.
Either way she is in pieces,
Dead on the floor.
