New SystemSo, I decided to put my tax refund to good use and build myself a decent desktop gaming/designing computer. I had a budget of $830 dollars, but I did end up going a little above that in the long run. However, I think every penny spent was extremely worth it.New System in Personal More Like This
I ordered the parts from Newegg on Monday and surprisingly they shipped from a warehouse just an hour away from my house, so they arrived first thing Tuesday morning. I was so excited, like a kid on Christmas, to open up everything and put it together. The first box I opened was the case, and I bought a case that was supposed to include a power supply (that was a mistake) and they shipped me the case without the power supply. So now I had all these parts and no way to give them power.
I spent an hour chatting with Newegg customer service, trying to avoid having to send the case back to them just so they could send me the new one with the power supply. I didn't feel t

I kind of disappeared 6 months ago. A lot has happened since then. The house I was renting a room in was shut down for violations and the landlord, being the kind-hearted, nice person he is, waited until the very last minute to tell us of this, giving us a whole 7 days to find a new place to live. I was forced to move into a halfway house in Brooklyn and it was an absolute nightmare. I wound up having to stay there for 3 months while I looked for work and dealt with the stress of having a drug addicted, unstable landlord. Two shitty landlords in a row, how lucky am I?
Anyway, I finally found a job. A pretty sweet one at that. I'm working for a company that does sound and video installation for celebrities and other big name clients. It's a very small company, with only less than 15 people on our floor at all times, but I love it. I'm starting at the bottom, working in the shipping side of the office and prepping

After various problems in KDE-Look and OpenDesktop in general (problems with servers, files and the user account), I decided move all Caledonia components to SourceForge. Now the service is much better, exist more space to the packages, and much, much more benefits for me and for you.
If you are a Caledonia user, a fan, or a packager for any Linux distro or BSD, please, attention to this space!!

Creating Panel Switchers
A lot of awesome foobar2000 skins here in DA will let you switch between multiple panels. It means you can put many panels in the same place, on top of each other, and then assign a set of buttons to trigger which panel should be shown, whilst the rest of it remains hidden.
Lux by Markkoenig and my Jam would be a perfect examples. As you can see on the screenshot below, Lux and Jam use set of buttons to show the selected p
GTK theme preferences - Customize GTK themesCustomizing a GTK theme can be frustrating, especially with both GTK2 and GTK3 themes lying there. And why go through all the hassle when you want to change just few things. You no more have to! Art in Contemplation of Its Own BecomingDuchamp finds a discarded urinal. He alters it (by signing a name to it not even his own, but obviously “the artist’s”) and names it “The Fountain”. The most mundane, even off-putting, of objects is transformed by Duchamp into art. He submits it for exhibition and it is rejected. You might say the judges “pissed on” his idea. But the idea was born and persisted. Duchamp insisted the object was art because he as an artist presented it as such. “Conceptual Art” was born.Art in Contemplation of Its Own Becoming in Personal More Like This

"Jupiter, the first elementary OS release, is no longer available for download.
The elementary OS developers have said farewell to Jupiter today, taking the download page and Answers system offline temporarily. The reason behind this decision is the fact that being based on Ubuntu 10.10, Jupiter no longer receives security updates and is running outdated software:
"Today, we're announcing that we are officially bidding farewell to Jupiter to make room for Luna. Along with the download page, our current Answers system will be taken offline temporarily; it is designed to be a community-driven support system for the current release and will be brought back online for the release of Luna."
But there's some good news too! According to a comment posted by Sam Tate on G+, there are les

DeviantART announced a month ago that through a new organization, Dadotart we applied to manage a new Top Level Domain (TLD) called “.ART.” We are committed to having the .ART TLD — the Internet addresses that could end in .ART — organized and distributed with the full participation of the global art community.
We need your help!
We need your help to show public support for the Dadotart application. The application process to manage a TLD is long, arduous, and intricate. Help us gather as a true art-centric community.
