Left teir: Nishiki rice (underneath) with Immatation crab meat, Scrambled egg, and Soboro beef.
Right Teir: baked asperagus, Baked cherry tomatoes with garlic, basil, olive oil and a sprinkle of salt and pepper; Lemon wedges (yes it is lemon, not lime... I picked them before they yellowed), apple bunny, cheese wedge and dark chocolate piece.
This was actually made soon after the last bento but i just forgot i had this picture. I was on a big Soboro kick which is very tasty! however the immitation crab REALLY put me off from eating everything... i do not like fake crab!? i can't believe it tasted bad! i ended up tossing the rest.
Contains: 2 round salmon filled rice balls (shaped like kitties w/out tails... forgot the tails), 1 boiled egg/halved (yolk was removed and mixed with mayo, a tiny bit of mustard seasoning, parsley and replaced back into the egg. topped with ham hearts) boiled asperagus, Salmon slice (salted), and 2 cherry tomatoes (with homemade flag pick)
OKAY so I happened to be looking at ~RiYuPai's bento here: [link] and read the contents and found out there is a manga about BENTO!!! its called "Hatsukoi no Lunchbox" and i went to look it up and read it. It is such a cute manga and I HIGHLY suggest any bento maker to read this series! It even has how-to recipes at the end of each chapter! It not only tells you a story but shows you how to make certain bento items, tips and tricks, and recipes! It is very inspiring and creative! XD I had to print out all the recipes. I was basically following the bento from the first chapter but instead of baseball i decided i wanted lil kitties! Unfortunately i forgot to make the lil tails but oh well. I made it slightly different so that it wouldn't exactly match the one from the manga! Please check it out and read "Hatsukoi no Lunchbox"! well worth it!
Top (left to right) Home-made Japanese cheese cake, (Cut into little hearts, sprinkled with powdered sugar and decorated with strawberry slices.) Colorful sugar star candies, and bright red large strawberries.
Bottom Three Home-made pink mochi. (mochi is flavored with almond and stuffed with strawberries)
Since I have Veteran's day off tomorrow I wouldn't get to make a bento meal so I decided to compromise and turn the bento snack that I usually make today and make it into more of a bento meal. I've put a few things in that I haven't tried before and some old favorites that I haven't had in a while. This bento contains:
Top Layer: 2 Onigiri: Shisho (left) and Ebi (right) Furikake Leeche Jelly with Little Spoon Bunny Container with Ketchup Bottle with Wasabi Shoyu
Bottom Layer: Apple Bunny 3 Fried Shrimp Pice of Nama Chikuwa (fish cake) Cut in Half and Stuffed With Cucumber Strips Blueberries Sprinkled with Sugar Green Tea Mochi
I bought some Atlantic Salmon this weekend because it was fresh and looked very good. I decided to make a Pineapple marinade for it. Obviously Japanese style. Why would I do anything else? Anyway this bento contains:
Rice with Black Sesame Cherry Tomato Seared Salmon Veggie Sautee Pineapple Piece (for Dessert) *Orange is part of my daily snacks - not this bento*
I hope you enjoy. I'm really happy with how the salmon turned out and it's one of the things my DBF can actually eat now. Hoping to make it for him soon!
