Just give me a chance alright, I'll explain
To me, you're the girl that I notice everything about.
The way you laugh, the way you smile;
We got along great back then, even if we don't now.
And to be honest, I miss that...
You had the most lovely silky smooth hair
You'd give me the cutest anime girl smile
I wish I'd talked to you more about Manga,
Hell you got me started on the whole thing.
You were fantastic at drawing too
Man I was always jealous of that talent,
And I loved your drawings, like I once loved you.
I wish that you could have been a professional.
I would have bought your book every month y'know...
You encouraged me to write.
Back when my stories were shit,
Back when my poems were still baby's rhymes.
You taught me not to give in and I was grateful.
Now just let me finish alright?
I know that you won't speak to me.

ShinobiA lone blade decides the fate of a nation... (1剣は国の運命を決定する)Shinobi in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This
That is the principle that we have always lived by. I do not pretend to understand the greater workings of the world, for that is not my intended purpose. I was born and forged as a blade. One that will never see the light of day.
Tonight I was called from across a distant land, to travel to a forgotten castle. Here, away from all things mundane, sits a lord who views himself as a mortal god. He does not speak to his people; he does not show his face. Instead he allows his chosen 'angels' to rule the nation in his stead.
This has led to severe unrest in some provinces and for the sake of maintaining the greater peace, the shadow of fire (火災影) has decided that we will strike him down. If one man's blood can save the lives of many, then he should be glad to have it spille

He smiles at you, as you enter the office;
Wearing eyeliner made of contempt and disdain.
His cheap cologne invades your nostrils immediately
And you quickly suppress a cough.
"Yes, yes, indeed we have to review this...er, many things are involved."
His face is powdered with a layer of self-importance;
Lips reddened by the polite harshness he spews.
His forked tongue flickers as he prattles on
And you're really getting quite tired.
"Oh I'm sorry! Of course, of course I understand; but my way is much better!"
You're getting really bored now, so you take a look around the room.
The expectation is to see it bedecked with acolades;
Yet bare walls, cold and empty, are all that greets you.
"Are you listening to me, I'm telling you why this isn't good enough. LISTEN TO ME!"
You take a look at the cup of coffee you were offered,
Cheap and lukewarm; you narrow your eyes.
"Is there a problem? I'm being honest, this is for YOUR OWN GOOD!"

Yes sir, he is clinging to insanity.
He remembers all the things he said, profanity.
Bare the shame on his naked old humanity.
He is the doll claiming love for his vanity-
When he woke up, desire!
He made a move like fire.
His whispers; a liar,
His heart snaps, like wire!
But what are you thinking of this man as I make him out?
Is it an image or a type that you seem to tout.
was it all his fault with no one else to blame,
Or were there cracks in the story that they both will claim-
Spit that and live that,
Hate when you love that!
You rip that and tear that,
Scream like you know that!
Stop for a moment and just listen to this silent cry,
Time has stopped now for both of us to say goodbye.
Both turning on these clocks, living lies that have stopped;
And when the love turns to ash, let the gloves be dropped...

The kind of promise that you made with the devil inside
You try to take away my soul, but I take it in stride
I ain't a doll that is crushed by the weight of his pride
I am the real and the raw of the things you denied!
You're playing snake games, selling oil, pass it off strong
You're just a pot head, weed dead, smoking your bong.

But I'm the kind of bad boy you don't put to the test!

Where once she carried the weight of the world
now her strength is but the tiniest whisper
A single spark, left to crackle amongst the shades
until all is lost in the endless folds of time
It's getting colder
though she still continues to stand by the gates
She is getting older
and thus her memories must fade...
Angels gather to watch her in these final moments
and they bow their heads as a sign of respect
For even now, as the life leaves her body
Still she continues to wait...

Outside I hear them screaming for blood
I know that they mean to kill me soon
Yet somehow my spirit remains resolved and calm

Each and every man in the audience, waits for this moment
They know that something is about to change!

And I can feel it wrapping around my beating heart
It makes me feel like breaking the conventions:
The ones that I've torn apart...

This is the moment where things will change!

(LoZ) Fear No EvilFrom her perch atop the northernmost tower of the castle, Hylia watched as a small gathering of soldiers drove a flock of enraged keese away from the gates. Her grip firm on the stone wall, she frowned; she knew such hapless creatures would be no match for the realm's warriors and their blades, but the mere fact that the monsters in the area had increased almost exponentially since her arrival was a most worrisome sign. She was well aware that evil energies begat evil creatures, and she knew that there was only one evil that could have generated this much energy in such a short amount of time.(LoZ) Fear No Evil in Romance More Like This
She lifted her gaze to the horizon, and there she saw her fears confirmed. A dark cloud had crept its way just past the mountains, threatening to cover Eldin Province with its shadow and, eventually, the whole of the realm. There was no mistaking it - Demise and his army of demons were approaching, and it would only be a matter of days before they arrived. Though she had planned to call upon
(LoZ) PlaymatesLink furrowed his brow in concentration as he crawled along the ground on all fours, messing his hands and clothes with dirt. Though the boy had just passed his third birthday, he already considered himself something of a bug catching master - he knew all of best places to find them, from the blades of tall grass near the ranch to the colorful forest flowers by the spring. He scanned the ground for a moment longer; then, he saw a small rock nearby, and with a proud little grin he crawled over and lifted it. His face lit up in delight when he found the biggest, shiniest beetle he'd ever seen, and he grabbed it, holding it loosely in his tiny hands as he rose to his feet and ran back towards his playmate.(LoZ) Playmates in General Fiction More Like This
"I gots it!" he cried, "I gots a beetle!"
The old man in the shiny metal suit lifted his gaze from his seat on a nearby stump, chuckling quietly as the boy approached him. "Did you now?" he said with a small, amused smile.

Zelink Family - Midnight SnackThey say that parents quickly learn to attend to the cries of their children. This would explain why Link, who was known for his heavy sleeping and who was quite a challenge to wake up in the mornings, instantly shot open his eyes when he heard little Daphnes' familiar wail. Of course, Zelda had heard it, too, but they had established that, barring circumstances, they would alternate taking care of the little boy when he cried in the night, and she had been the one to do it the night before.Zelink Family - Midnight Snack in General Fiction More Like This
After sitting up and rubbing the sleep away from his eyes, Link gave his wife a look signifying that he had the situation under control (or so he hoped). Then, he pulled himself out of bed and walked over to the other side of the house, where the baby lay in a tearful heap in his crib. The hero-turned-father smiled sadly as he picked him up.
"What's the matter?" he asked in a quiet voice, holding his son to his shoulder and patting his back. "I
LoZ - Warm Hearths, Warmer HeartsIt was a sight the young queen was more than familiar with; children gathering just outside the castle gates to play in the aftermath of Hyrule's first snow of the year. From the frosted window of her chambers, Zelda smiled as she watched distant images of young boys and girls prancing about in the white stuff, tossing snowballs at one another, and doubtlessly irritating the guards who were keeping watch that day. It made her heart glad to see those children enjoying themselves in ways she herself had not often gotten the chance to experience; it was improper for young princesses to frolic about in the filthy slush, after all.LoZ - Warm Hearths, Warmer Hearts in General Fiction More Like This
She sighed quietly and returned to her book, its pages illuminated by the crackling flames of a nearby hearth. When she had her own children, she thought, she would never fill their heads with such silly notions of royal propriety.
A knock on her door interrupted her a moment later, however, and with a frown Zelda stood to answer it, setting her
Zelink Family - Cookies for DinnerThe moment Link returned home from his firewood gathering trip, he knew something was up. A sweet, delicious smell filled the air, and he took a moment to pause and appreciate it before turning his head towards the kitchen area. There, in front of the oven, he saw his lovely wife bent over, carefully removing a slab covered with a dozen scrumptious-looking chocolate chip cookies. He grinned at the sight.Zelink Family - Cookies for Dinner in General Fiction More Like This
"You didn't tell me you were making cookies, Zelda!" He let his eyes wonder until he saw a large tray piled with at least three dozen cookies sitting on the table. He gaped in surprise. "Whoa!"
Zelda turned around, giggling nervously at his reaction. "Eheheh... well, I got the idea just after you left, so I didn't get the chance to tell you. Sorry!"
"That's fine," he replied, pointing to the mountain of cookies, "but three dozen? You'll never eat that many!"

Link nodded. "That's right, Daphnes. We'll keep it at the house for now, but when you're all grown up, it'll be yours."
"Wow!" young Daphnes turned to Link, his eyes sparkling in a way that reminded the hero of the boy's mother. "Thanks, Daddy! ...But, what is it?"
"It's a harp," Link replied with a chuckle. "You play music on it by plucking the strings." He reached over and demonstrated, lightly strumming a few of the strings. "See?"

Mia stared intently at her target, her front legs perched on top of Link’s thigh. Then, hesitantly, she reached for it, only to quickly draw her paw back before touching it. She repeated this process a few more times, as if trying to build her courage; then, finally, she touched the end of Link’s scarf, catching her claws in the fibers as she did so.
Meanwhile, Link, who had been watching the scene unfold from his seat on the couch, couldn’t help but laugh as the little grey cat played with the end of his scarf, scratching at it and batting it to and fro. “Oh, I see how it is,” he said, giving Mia a tender pat on the head, “you just like my scarf, don’t you?”
“As opposed to what?” asked Zelda, poking her head out from the kitchen, a sheet of freshly baked sugar cookies in her mitted hands and a small grin on her face at the sight of Link and Mia.

Zelda turned, placing the cup of sugar she was about to pour into the mixing bowl back on the countertop. "What is it, Daphnes?"
"I've got a question." The six-year-old furrowed his brow in deep thought. "If grown-ups come from kids, and kids come from babies..." he returned his gaze to his mother. "...then where do the babies come from?"
Nearly dropping her wooden spoon in shock, Zelda froze. Goddesses, she knew this question would be asked one day - she just hadn't thought it'd be asked so soon! Turning her head to hide her surprise, she mulled over what she and her husband had discussed; though there were some secrets Daphnes must never know for his own safety, they had wanted to be as honest as possible with him. But how was she going to answer his question in a way he'd understand?

Little Daphnes weakly opened his mouth out of instinct, his eyes drooping shut as he fought the urge to sleep. When he latched on just barely, Zelda sighed a little, smiling in relief. He suckled slowly for a moment, then let go, causing his mother's smile to fall once again.
"Daphnes, please," she said desperately, trying one last time to get him to latch on, "you need to eat..."
However, Daphnes' weariness won out; without the strength to keep feeding, he fell asleep, his head lolling against her bosom. Zelda brushed the baby's bright, blond hair with her fingers as tears threatened to leave her eyes. Then, with a sniffle, she pulled his blanket over his tiny arms and held him close.
Child-rearing was supposed to be a wonderful, joyous thing, she thought... If that were the case, then why was it breaking her
Zelink Family - Father's SwordDaphnes always knew that his father was the greatest swordsman in the whole wide world. Something the boy had always noticed, however, was that knights of Skyloft would usually take great pride in their swords, often displaying them and keeping them well-maintained. His father kept his own sword usable, but he never seemed to pay it very much attention otherwise. It was kept sheathed in a cupboard, not displayed on their wall, and it was full of knicks and scratches the other knights usually tried to polish over. I prayed as much as I needed
Even when I was beyond drowning
I knew a kind soul would pay heed

The source of all my bitter tears.
I see a light, an anchor, a hope;
I limp faster, relieved by the sight.
I found a gentle, downward slope
Like a rescue from a blight.
I lean on you, no longer afraid;
Finally I have found relief.
Tears dry, memories fade,
Like wind carries a wilted leaf.
But in the end, it wasn't true
You held my heart yet let it die.
My anchor became my noose;
My trust was blinded to your lie.
How could I be so ignorant?
You pledged to never leave my side.
There's none to blame but myself
"She believed when he lied."
The Beggar~The Beggar~The Beggar in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
The beggar on London square;
She is old and frail and has grey hair;
She hobbles to her lair
On London square.
Her eyes hold a wise twinkle;
Her face is full of wrinkles;
She still survives there
On London square.
In her hand, she holds a hat;
When a coin drops, she's happy like that.
Age is meaningless there
On London square.
With some joy as she ends her day,
She buys her bread with the coin that lay
In the hat she holds there
On London square.
With bread in hand, she sits and sings
Of how sweet grace gave her the things
That she was given there
On London square.
MemoryMemory is like the tide,Memory in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
It swells and ebbs;
It's free and wide,
Yet ridden with dregs.
At times it's calm
Soothing and sweet;
Like a tender balm,
A gentle beat.
It's violent, too
Coarse and bitter;
Like a vicious coup,
A cruel winter.
In it, I do bask,
Adrift in my mind;
I need only ask
To be lost in time.
What's Not Being SaidI heard you sighWhat's Not Being Said in Free Verse More Like This
but at the time
I didn't say a word;
I saw you cry
but didn't know
your voice was so unheard.
I felt you break
but truly thought
I shouldn't be around;
For my own sake
I should have fought
to keep your feelings sound.
Please, listen to what's not being said.
SurviveWhispers in my earSurvive in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
Compel me to surrender.
But I will not hear;
I defy my contender.
Defeat is not an option;
There is no other way:
Survive against all odds
To die another day.
'Tis the oldest battlecry;
The only ultimatum.
Fight until you die
Rather plain verbatim.
To be classified as "alive,"
Survive, survive, survive.
I'm Here for YouWhat do you expect me to sayI'm Here for You in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
When you keep pushing me away?
RememberI can't read your mind,
And time cannot rewind.
Regret will only make it worse
Like a bad omen from a curse.
This will surely make you stronger;
Please just hold on longer.
I'll be here, right by your side;
You don't have to run and hide.
Just try to find the silver lining
The sun will keep on shining.
Never forget that this is true:
I am here for you.
Wish for PrivacyI live behind a locked door,Wish for Privacy in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
And no one has the key.
It has been years, maybe more
Since someone talked to me.
The solitude was nice at first,
The quiet let me think.
But soon it took a turn for worse
Now all I do is blink.
So be careful, my dear friends,
When you wish for privacy.
Count to 5 when patience bends
Or you'll end up just like me.
