as you may know
shit take long ;P
and after the first poor and lazy try of a papercraft tutorial
i'm proudly present the second better version, where i'm gonna explain every single step what i do when i'm build a papermodel out of a 3d mesh

after meanwhile three years of papercrafting i still can say, it is one of the best hobbys i've ever had and with this little series i wanna show you
that it is not that hard as it looks :)
but also that there is much more work behind as you may know ;)

About the Tutorial:
This tutorial is ground basic
specially the first part, where i am explaining the first steps in Metasequoia
what means, it counts for beginner and also professional 3d desinger
the only thing what you should have is some knowledge in papercrafting
where you start
what is possible to build
and what not

for this tutorial i'm using Metasequoia, a great freeware 3d editor what you can download "here"
if you are allready using an other programm like 3dsmax, Lightwave or Blender, you can of course use one of these
it doesn't matter because the method is the same

i also use Photoshop but every other image editor should do the same
the only thing what you have to purchase is the "Pepakura Desinger"
because only the Viewer is free

About the 3d models:
there are a lot of model sources out there
google is your best friend here
but i will NOT explain how to receive or where you can download 3d game models
that is not the meaning of this tutorial and here starts also the illegal part
why?
to recieve 3d meshes out of games, you have mostly break or rip them and you can imagine, the most developer don't really pleased by that

but as i said, google is your best friend here ;)

ok then, enough talking
let's start with the first picture where Metasequoia is allready installed

This lowpoly-pixelated landscape : lithium-sound.deviantart.com/a…
Inspired by an artwork from JenZee : jenzee.deviantart.com/art/Gaia…
real time rendered in unity 3D using a lightmap baked in blender for the house.

So, we have :
- a total of 2600 tri for the house (Too much tri...)
- a 128*128 png texture for the house (85 Kb)
- a 2048*2048 png texture for the lightmap (2700 Kb)
- a cool shader allowing you to put two different UVs on the same object (lightmap+diffuse on the house)
- a really awesome reflective/refractive shader for the water
- some post effect on the camera (vignette+color correction+antialiasing)

What else ?
- no skybox yet
- not completly optimized (2600 tri for the house WTF!)
- need ground and trees behind the house
- need character+animation+scripts...

Another simple papercraft.
I recommend sticking the ear on the glue tabs so that you can't see where you stuck the ears on.

I had to make a charmander papercraft! I already made one made by Kira759, this is just my easier charmander.
Remember, when cutting out, cut around the claws on the feet/back legs.

When sticking the yellow leaf things on snivy, I suggest you stick them on the side of it in-front of it's front arms.

Practice practice practice... draw these several times... look at your own hands for physical reference. Hands are always moving so draw them going in any direction.

Hold an object... see what your finger tips does when you apply pressure to the tips.

I drew this lesson because a student has asked for it last Sunday.  I hope this is what she is looking for? Yes?

For most people math is the subject that is the furthest away from art. Its actually not true at all!  The world is full of things to draw that are based on mathematical principles.  Geometry is the closest math there is to art. It is a challenge for most people to draw nice straight lines, circles, ellipses and such but it is very good practice even if your intention is to work in 3D computer graphics.

When I draw something specific(non-abstract) I am measuring the distance of one shape to another.  For example, when I draw a face I look carefully at the person's face with my eyes and I measure the distance between both eyes, how far the bottom of the nose is to the eyes, etc.  If my visual measurements are off, the very specific person I am trying to draw will not look correct to me or anyone else.

The measurements, the perspectives, the angles, the symmetry, the arc, the curves... the science of how things are.  I hear many young people complain about the use of letters in algebra not making any sense. In fact they do when letters are associated with words like Width(X), Height(Y), Depth(Z), (A)rea, (V)olume, (M)ass, (F)orce, (D)istance, (A)cceleration... etc.  Science stuff.

Drawing people can be extremely enjoyable when you know how to do it. There is poetry in the human form and movement. Its really amazing the variety of things people are able to do! Infinite subject matters to draw!

The reason why drawing people is so much harder than drawing animals is the range of activities and the range of motion the human body does. Million combinations of faces, shapes, colors and clothing too! It can be overwhelming to learn for any one!

But if you do want to learn start with the basic triangle system. draw these -->

Then continue with the above step. More here:

Here is my female anatomy template. While this took less time (due to being more familiar with Zbrush), I had far more difficulty sculpting this. The female form has so many nuances that you have to capture so perfectly to get the right feel, however there is so much you can get away with on a male form. I really enjoyed this one and look forward to more sculpts in the future

NOTE: This is for educational purposes, if the presence of nipples deems this as mature please give me a note and I will add the filter. Otherwise I do not feel the need to create a mature filter as of now.

You may use this for muscle reference and character studies, however if you use in your final artwork, please link back to the original or offer some form of credit. Thanks

Update: 11/8/14 12:20am

Updated the model with a new one with more accurate anatomy and a better material. If you still want to see the old version, it is located here: i.imgur.com/ld8Amc2.jpg

Original Post

Here it is finally the Male 3D anatomy template with all views consolidated. This was my first 3D sculpt, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Zbrush really is a great tool as it works just like real sculpting, but far more user friendly.

This was the first muscle template that I used for the Deji outfit design. Was done almost entirely in blue lead on sketch book paper. The feet were drawn with a tablet because I ran out of space in my book so I couldnt fit the feet in. Took about 2 hours since I had to look at reference, but also improvise my own porportions and muscle thickness.

Uploading this for those who need male muscle references and prefer these type of proportions instead of textbook realistic proportions. I know stuff like this helped me tons wen I was figuring it all out.
