Hearing his voice through the phone was like an echo of my dream. I could feel my face getting flustered. I took a deep breath, waiting for him to respond. I gulped.
"Yes, it's Zim. Listen pig-stink, I need you to do something for me." He was talking like he called all the time! I felt myself getting a little irritated. Almost like all the aggression I had from our past fights were beginning to rumble together in my head, like an earthquake that gradually builds up.
"Hold on a damn second, Zim!" I felt myself getting a little loud so I looked around real quick around my cubicle. Not only had no one seemed to have heard me, it looked like almost everyone had left for lunch. "Just what the hell are you calling me for? And what gives you the right to give me that tone? What the hell's going-" I was cut off by the robot screaming somewhere off into the background. Zim sighed into the phone agitatedly. I could picture him in my head squeezing two of his fingers on the brid

Through the damned tangles of the cottony-earthly torturous clothing, I could hear the door open. I tugged off the hooded cloth swiftly to see the Dib human staring idiotically at the door, pizza and chocolate in hand. I knew as soon as I saw him I shouldn’t have left the field offline. He babbled about getting the food and sorry for one thing or another, but everything he said seemed to spill out of his mouth more than actually speak about anything. I could feel his eyes on my chest and it was starting to make me panic from his lack of attention. Grabbing a hold of his large broad shoulders and gave him a few strong shakes, bringing him back to the filthy planet from wherever his mind had hid away. My toe talons were at the very tip as I reached to clasp ahold of him. He had gotten so much taller, the bastard.
When he woke up and began to be a little more normal I instructed him to sit down on the couch unit and took my clothes with me to a close

"I.....brought the pizza." was all I could get out. Zim’s alarm system was off, but I don’t know why I just walked inside. Why didn’t I knock? Why didn’t I knock?! Now I was stuck in what felt like time, worse than when Zim actually got me stuck in that time vortex. The skin I couldn’t stop thinking of was in front of me, bare. I couldn’t stop staring. I must have zoned out because I didn’t notice he had moved until he was in my face.
"Dib! Are you alright?" his gloveless hands were on my shoulders, shaking me back and forth slightly, probably trying to bring me back to Earth. "Your huge face is so white! What's wrong?" why was he half naked? Why did he take off his hoodie and his gloves in the livingroom?! No, it was my fault I should have knocked. "Dib-worm!" Zim called out once more.
"I couldn’t find chocolate pizza so I bought chocolate bars too." It was the only thing I could think of saying. It’s what I had

I was terrified for a moment when I stepped into the tube. Zim could have been easily tricking me to destroy myself, but it’s been so long. Why would he try to kill me now? He tapped some codes into the touch screen thingy. It was all in irken so I had no idea what any of it said. Afterwards, he walked towards the other tube. He looked so worried. With his antenna whimpered to the back of his head, he was the very image of vulnerable. This was crazy. Why did he even want to be able to be human? Maybe it was for a better disguise. I honestly didn’t care much. I wanted to see if it would work. I wondered for a second on why he didn’t just steal a human if that’s all he needed. He hated asking for someone’s help so why not take someone against their will?
Just as all these question jumbled through my spinning head I glanced over at Zim. He was so pinned up in the tube. His shoulders were tightly pressed near his head in a clinch, almost as

I trusted the scan to work…mostly anyhow. I swallowed as I waited for the light to finish scanning us. Dib seemed more interested and focused on me, instead of his own fate. I mean I DID tell him that nothing would happen to him…which it shouldn't, but still he held no hesitation to just sit there and watch me. Then I felt the morph begin. The sting of the light that blinded my vision was strangely invigorating. I felt that my eyes were being rinsed of all there color then suddenly grew back but a smaller tunnel of vision like my lenses. All the while, my skin was burning. Not like the cooking burn of rain water, but like my skin was melting inside out. I felt my lekkus split at the end and unravel into threads that felt like they were growing all over my head. When I inquired to look at Dib’s body he became unresponsive for a moment but then his jaw seemed to unhinge. “What’s wrong with your face?” I asked, an eyebrow raised.
“N-nothing. I uh…no I don’t think that’s necessary.” Dib stated with large eyes and a cracked voice. Had I asked something strange of him? Irkens had no issue of nudity. It couldn’t be a modesty thing. All the information Gir had researched for me through the TV promptly showed that almost every age of human was open to being nearly naked. All the young and older, female or male; all dressed half naked on the screen of public TV so it couldn’t be a sacred thing. Why was this such an issue for the Dib thing? Unless he was hiding something!! That has to be it! Maybe he DID get hurt somehow in the scanner and said nothing due the excitement of my own breathing issue.
Zim shook his head and leaned closer into Dib’s space. “No,

‘W….what the hell did he just call me…?’ I asked myself as Zim drug me out the house by my sleeve. The sky had gotten a little purplish as the night worked its way around. I hadn’t realized how long I had been at Zim’s house. I had to walk with Zim for a little since I parked kind of far. Zim didn’t have a drive way, so I parallel parked a little passed it. He walked slightly behind me, but held onto my sleeve still. He eyed my car and I blushed at my embarrassing ride. It was a bucket, I knew that, but I had forgotten about how Zim had high expectations for mechanics. His own ship had engines that surpassed all on Earth so there was no way I could have impressed him, but I wished it at least wasn’t a beaten up old ass Camaro. Don’t get me wrong, I love my car. I just felt inferior to Zim’s technological experience and tastes.

To say the very least, Gaz wasn't surprised to hear somebody knocking on the door again that day as she went to open it, thinking that perhaps it was just Zim again. "What now- Dib?" she stopped short of her sentence, looking a little surprised to see her brother standing there and the condition he was in. "What happened to you?" she covered up her surprise quickly, as if she didn't already know.
Unable to even bring his gaze up to meet Gaz's, tears still streaming down his cheeks as he sniffled wetly, Dib merely continued to stare down at the ground in somewhat of a daze. Smiling back at him, Dib went ahead and returned to his own food after a moment or two. "It's the least I can do considering everything you've done for me." he said, taking another bite of his food, chewing on it, and then swallowing before washing it down with his drink. "And besides...I think I'll be feeling better tomorrow. This sandwich doesn't seem to be upsetting my system nearly as much as all that junk food you were feeding me." he shuddered a bit.

Okay, so the first half of this chapter is gonna be trough Dib's P.O.V. because it's sooo much easier to explain things through his eyes.
Sixteen years ago was the beginning of my end. On the day of my birth I was taken away from a human nursery on the planet Earth and was raised by an Irken service drone in order to serve my one and only master. The drone told me that Master had bought me legally and therefore I was his forever, but I know I was stolen. Human slaves are illegal in every galaxy, and on every planet. Well, besides Earth, but I never have, and never will admit I know that. I don't need another reason for Master to 'correct' me...
On the day of my second year my master, Blin, assigned me as his personal slave. He told me if I was questioned, I was to 'refer myself as his adopted son.', whatever that was... Master Blin uses many terms that I do not understand, but I've learned to never question him, or it'll lead to more 'correcting'.

Where it all started
Rubbing at his tired eyes, Dib took a moment to collect himself. It was late, way into the early morning hours, but this needed to be done before the chemical reaction was over. He pushed his large glasses back up his forehead and leant over the glaringly pink microscope again. What he saw made his heart beat faster in excitement. The light yellow nanomachines beneath the thin glass worked fast, removing the faulty bases from the sample's DNA while leaving the natural structures intact. A small smile formed on his lips after a few minutes, the sample almost completely sanitized and the tiny nanomachines still working wonderfully.
But it didn't last. As soon as the faulty DNA had been perfectly removed, the leftover structures began to disintegrate, being taken apart by those wretched, little machines.
Jerking back with a frustrated yell, the boy barely had enough self-restraint to not throw his glasses, and with them a few pieces of lab equipment, to the ground in

Dib did try.
Slowly, ever so slowly, the boy worked on getting back on his feet. His alien companion watched the progress with keen eyes, even though Zim left him by himself most of the time. Dib was both glad and unhappy about that.
After all, the alien was the only being that he could talk to and somewhat trust anymore. In his own, weird way, Dib knew Zim cared for him and he was grateful for it. The ability to actually talk to someone, train his voice and not be entirely alone with his thoughts was like balm for his addled mind.

No matter how often he told himself that Gir was harmless and just wanted to play or get some attention, the moment those glowing eyes and grabby, mechanical hands came too close, Dib lost it.

Amazingly enough, the base DID just look like it had before. Even his bed, untidied, rumpled sheets, was in the same spot, his almost empty last soda can just where he had left it. Several hundreds of miles away.
Shaking his head in wonder and no small amount of trying not to think about the impossibility of it all, the human moved over to his bed and let himself fall down onto the soft surface, sighing quietly. What a day it had been.
Strangely enough, the first thing that came to mind was: a successful one.
The day had been a success.
They had followed through with their plan and it had worked out just perfectly so far. Now the only thing they had to hope for was, that the people would find the body. Find it and identify it as Dib Membrane. Then there would be no more people looking for him. No more police, no more news about him.
They could just return to finding their cure, purify their DNA and blood and then...
Then... they could do whatever they wanted to, Dib supposed.

It wasn't smooth like a nice and proper medical injection needle he knew from hospitals. Not that his memories of those were any more comforting, but at least the sting of them was negligible.
THIS thing, however, looked like a freaky version of a metal fang tooth, and to make matters worse, it thickened in the middle, assuring that it would stay in place. AND it was barbed to boot. To 'prevent him from simply ripping the device right out and off in a fit of madness', Zim had said. And he was right, in a way, to think even of that.
But it made putting that awful thing in place that much less endearing a prospect. Dib flinched the moment the smaller male picked the thing up, way before it even came close to him.

Time had to be the worst value a person could experience.
Dib would watch the digits change on the computer screen clock and yet it didn't make any difference if one didn't know what time they were waiting for.
Time simply went by, mocking Dib with its uncaring passage while the human sat and dreaded every passing minute. And yet, even though he kept track of how many minutes, hours, days and weeks went by, he lost every sense for the value of time itself.
It didn't really matter how time felt to him, or how much of it passed. All that mattered was that at the end of a certain amount of minutes, days, weeks and months, Zim would be back. And they would return to how things were before.
At least... that's what Dib hoped would happen.
In the meantime, however, he was alone. Technically at least. Dib didn't know what deity to thank for his luck, but by some sort of miracle, Gir left him alone most of the time. The deranged thing kept to itself, playing hide and seek on its own or

Idly, Dib made rhythmic, clunking noises with a spoon and his empty soup can. Zim had been very clear about not wanting to be disturbed while he made... whatever call he needed to make. Something was off with that. Something was going on and the human was missing it.
Not that he was up to date with anything anymore, but, even if the moment had been short, Zim had been in a strange mood and it made him thoughtful. A sigh bubbled from his lips. It felt wrong to spend one of his rare, longer moments of being in a coherent state of mind by waiting in his room. But Dib didn't want to intrude in whatever was on Zim's mind too much, either.
Maybe it was something that had to do with Zim's "mission". Stopping the rhythmic clunking, Dib paused. Zim was still on a mission.
It was so easy to forget about that. Ever since this whole dilemma had begun, the little alien had stopped making big and boisterous plans to take over the earth or destroy humankind or other such shenanigans. At least, none t

Just as Zim had dreaded, Dib's fit lasted well over two hours, which the boy spent curled into a tight little ball on the floor, clutching at his head and occasionally giving a few muffled sobs.
And the entire time, the alien sat with him, watching that he kept breathing and that he wouldn't end up having spasms and injuring himself. It rarely happened, but Zim knew it was probably best to be on the safe side.
At least, Dib wouldn't remember any of this. Once he woke, he would be tired, confused and sometimes, understandably, frightened. That, however, could usually be fixed with a good night's sleep and some distraction.
Of his attacks or whatever happened during them, Dib never had any memories.
And it probably was best that way.
At long last, the boy stirred, a muffled whimper on his lips as he uncurled and rolled over onto his back. Unsteady hands rubbed at his eyes as Dib blinked and tried to get his eyes to focus.
“Finally awake, Dib-thing?”
Zim's voice was low

„Come back here, filthy human! How DARE you take what's ZIM'S!“ Dib laughed triumphantly, holding his loot to his chest while he ran down the corridors of Zim's lab, in hopes of escaping his pursuer.
„It's mine now, Zim! Deal with it!“ He cried, skidding around a corner and running towards the large storage rooms. Maybe he could hide in between the boxes and shelves long enough to make good use of the stolen package in his arms. Zim was close on his heels though, easily matching his speed.
The alien caught up with him just when he ran through the open storage room doors. With a roar, Zim leaped forward, knocking Dib over with the impact of his smaller body. They tumbled to the floor, not even stopping for a second before starting to roll across the ground, both fighting for the upper hand. „Give it back to Zim!“
„Never, spaceboy! It's mine now! You took all the others!“
As usual, it was an earnest, but somewhat

For the umpteenth time, Zim found himself sighing as he tried to concentrate on the checkups he wanted to do, on the station's operating system. Concentration was hard to hold on to, however, when he found his eyes drifting over to where Dib lay, on one of the padded, pink benches to sleep off the stress. The boy had cried for nearly an hour straight, only stopping when exhaustion got the better of him and the alien had to help move him to a spot where he could rest.
Shaking his head, Zim tried to go back to running system checks while the human slept. There was nothing else to do for the alien.
He managed a full five minutes more before he threw up his arms with a frustrated huff, simply switching the station's main computer on to run a standard diagnosis instead of making a more thorough, manual checkup. Slowly and stealthily, as not to rouse the resting human, Zim drew closer, taking a seat just next to Dib to watch him instead of the screens.
Even in sleep, the boy's face was drawn

The weekend was here and it began with a normal Saturday morning, birds chirping through the boys window and the deadly light of the sun beaming on the mirror, lighting up the whole room with such a warm essence. It was not on a school day so he didn't have to worry about waking up early in the morning. But he would still like to get up early, do his necessary needs like showers and breakfast. Gaz would still be sleeping from staying up all night waiting for her Pig Fright Night marathon. Eventually his father, Professor Membrane asked Dib to bring her up to her room. Let's just say that he almost didn't make it out of there alive.
Up bright and early, Dib stretched his arms upwards and slid his glasses on. The scars on his pale torso grimaced and it only made Dib do the same. Sighing heavily, Dib kicked his feet off the bed placed on his pants, staying out of his shirt to go downstairs to make breakfast. The scythe locked hair boy has his mind once again clouded with thoughts. If he h

What does that human think he's planning? Needing this... talk... Zim's thoughts buzzed around like an annoying bee, something he couldn't seem to get out of his head. He sat in his seat and leans back against the chair, letting his books lay on the desk. He stares boringly at the white board, seeing that the teacher wasn't here yet. She's always late since she's one of the clumsy people.
Soon however, Dib entered the classroom. He felt pairs of eyes look at him as he moved towards his seat. He knew it was the boy with the green skin condition. Zim always do this whenever Dib comes into a room as if he was observing him. Once the boy sat down, he glared his deep hazel eyes at the Irken but he sees that his eyes were looking forward to the front of the class. He blinks, confused and looks behind him to see people were chatting among themselves. Am I just over thinking things? He scratches the back of his head and looks forward once more, waiting for their English teacher t

Dib sat in his usual seat in Ms. Bitters class doodling in his blue notebook. He was drawing ghosts, vampires, the paranormal as much to be specific. He sighed and glanced up to see Ms. Bitters still echoing words of doom in the world and how it will implode on itself.
Dib however, knowing how much he knew about science, that the world wasn't going to end in some explosion, moon crashing into the ocean, or even a big earthquake. It was going to end by something even worse.
The paranormal freak turned his big head towards the right side of class to see the strange green boy. His chin was leaning on the top of his desk, as his frail arms falling over the desk in front of him. The bored look on his face was tinted with sadness and disappointment as the clock on the wall ticked louder.

It's been about a few months now where all the leaves were gone and were replaced with the covering of white frost. It was around that time where from children to adults will be wearing heavy coats to keep their bodies warm, sitting next to a warm open fire to roast chestnuts and drink hot chocolate. Not only that, but there would be a green tree, from real to fake or to tall to small, it would be decorated with shining red, blue, green and yellow lights, - unless you prefer the traditional yellow lights streamers and ornaments of your choice. On the top would be the shining angel or even a golden star, shining brightly to watch over the house and the presents underneath the tree with shiny red wrapping paper and bows.
Every family celebrates this tradition called Christmas. But that's not the case for the Membrane family. As the father, Professor Membrane, has never celebrated Christmas with his kids and Gaz was still waiting for the dog to give Gaz's Bitey the Vampires' head b

Upon realizing there was no sign of the Irken even making an attempt to get into his house, Dib felt it were safer to be in there now than outside so he rushed towards it in quite a hurry. Once he had burst in the door, he slammed it furiously behind him and turned to lock the door for an extra sense of security. Hopefully Gaz had a key to the house so she wouldn't bother him with her obnoxious banging as she did quite often.
After locking the door, Dib turned his back to it and leaned against it, closing his eyes and taking deep breaths in an attempt to calm himself after all of the stress he had endured that day. Unfortunately, he could only think of Zim as he stood there, images of that haunting grin flashing in his memory.
The boy let out a groan of both agony and frustration as he headed towards the downstairs bathroom, pulling out a first aid kit to bandage his wounds before heading up to his bedroom hoping that some relaxation would help to clear his mind. Of cours

Soon all of Zim's tremors just seemed to halt. He pulled himself back up onto all fours, extending his head up with his neck still cocked at an awkward angle so he could see Dib's face. He parted his lips into the grin again, beginning to screech out in a single laughter with that eerie 'e' sound again.
The sight of that haunting grin seemed to paralyze the boy as he slowly let himself down to the floor, wrapping himself in a fetal position as he rocked himself very stiffly as if to comfort himself. Violent shivers also shook him as the cackle rung in his ears as they only intensified the dread he was already feeling.
Zim slowly began to drag himself over to him, seeing him as wounded prey now. His limbs still had trouble taking turns, looking even more like a creature in dire need of an exorcism.
Dib's eyes expanded as the other drew closer to him. He didn't blink now since in his mind, blinking only made him made him more vulnerable than he already was, even though he wo

Dib stared at Zim wide-eyed in panic as he approached him slowly, backing up a few clumsy steps before bumping into the fence behind him. He looked over his shoulder and eye it, dreading the fact that he had to climb the damned thing if he wanted to avoid the same fate his teacher had met.
After glancing back at Zim another time, seeing that he was getting closer to him quicker than he thought, he turned and faced the fence and backed up a few steps. He drew a shaky breath before running at it and making a leap as he got close to the fence, grunting as he hit it and started his desperate climb.
A screech of obvious rage exploded from the hobbling being that was trailing far behind his escaping form. “IB!!!!” The name practically pierced through the air as wild eyes, even through those contacts, locked onto him frighteningly and his arms outstretched in a dire want to rip the other from the rusty chained fence.
The screech shook the boy, causing his grip to sli

After several minutes of just staring at the computer in complete terror, Dib turned to the platform and headed towards it. He shut off the lights on his way out, the computer’s bright monitor illuminating the room now. His head turned to look back at it, nodding once as if to thank it before stepping onto the plate in front of him. The platform rose again for him to take him back upstairs into the wreckage. Now he had an answer as to what happened and why Zim was behaving like he was. The better question was, would he regret seeing that though; seeing the complete self-destruction of his now former worst enemy and now current worst nightmare?
The thing that made seeing that video so traumatizing was that he had actually grown to some what care about Zim. Yes, they were enemies both out to stop each other at every turn, but before Zim, he didn’t have a reason to get up every day and go to school. Zim was everything he had always wanted; an alien that had found

Dib walked down the sidewalk appearing more disturbed than he had since this had started. The lingering taste of Zim’s blood seemed to keep him in an almost trance like state as he walked almost unnaturally down the sideswalk. Of course, the boy’s unsettling demeanor attracted more stares from the people around him.
People went from being distasteful and scowling at him, to almost frightened and concerned for the boy. He'd been progressing so quickly to lunacy lately that some people believed it was time he saw someone about it.
This thought of going to see someone though seemed to be out of the question in Dib’s mind. He knew a doctor would only blame it on schizophrenia or just plain insanity and not even try to believe that something was actually going on. He would only be prescribed some drug to try and rid him of ‘the images in his head’.
Perhaps that's what he needed to stay sane though; receive some counseling and a bit of medicin

Upon arriving home on that quiet, eerie night, Dib was relieved to find that no insane Irken had followed him. He was alone now, and he had the feeling he would have a peaceful night in contrast to the others he had experienced.
As Dib had made his way into the house and up to his room, the lingering smell of day old blood hit him. It wasn’t quite as harsh and foul as the pile of junk found in Zim’s closet. However, it was enough to make the boy groan in both agony and nausea, but the smell didn’t seem to stop him from hobbling to his bed and allowing himself to collapse upon it.
At least he was safe for now, and tonight would be one of the only nights open for him to sleep without much worry. Zim was still too weak to come for him, and the computer was keeping him indoors for tonight.
As Dib lay on his bed with his eyes pealed wide open, he felt himself almost grow drowsy as time proceeded. He even fell into a deep and much needed sleep within fifteen

Dib remained in an almost trance-like state for a few moments as he recalled a few memories of Zim. He took another deep breath before speaking again in a quiet tone. “Zim... He was pretty interesting.”
"Yes? What is his personality like?" The doctor questioned, beginning to write again at the others decision to elaborate more on the subject.
Dib slowly looked back to the doctor, shifting in his seat as he considered the question. “Well, he was loud and obnoxious and would often insult the human race whenever he had the chance to. But, he was very proud of his race and his leaders. He made every attempt to take over Earth even if he failed every time. But I liked that about him...” Dib’s voice trailed off some as his gaze lowered. “I admired that about him actually..”
Dr.Gaul hummed and nodded his head a bit. "Well, I can only chalk this up as more schizophrenia from how you say this. You seem very fond of this little delusion as

Resolve came in the form of first sunlight beaming through the shattered hole that was at one point a window. It immediately melted away the shadows and extinguished the coolness that the night had brought. Everything was completely visible now and revealed to the paranoid human.
However, even after the sun had come up, Dib took a while to convince himself that there wasn't actually anything there, and that it had all just been a crazy delusion in his head. After several more minutes of watching everything around him, he had finally convinced himself that he was alone now, which actually relaxed him and made him realize how tired he actually was. It was too late to try and sleep now though since he had to get ready for another dreadful day of school.
He didn't try too hard, though, as he decided to stay in the bloodied and torn cloths from the night before and only ran his hands over his hair in an attempt to smooth it out. He was far too tired and stressed to be concerned

Dib found himself completely frozen again as the other approached him slowly. It was almost as if time had just stopped completely as each step created more and more anticipation and fear. He could hardly even bat an eye as his gaze was glued on to Zim with no intention of looking anywhere else.
Zim took agonizingly slow steps to him, the laughing dying down to weak 'e' sounds of an eerie laugh. He stopped when he had reached him, eyes turning wild almost instantly. He leaned forward and continued that grin of insanity, looking like he was a wrong breath away from a total meltdown. "I...want to....." The rest turned into garbled nonsense, but he paused, as if he were waiting for an answer now.
Dib didn't seem to catch on to this though as he was too intently focused on the other's horrifying expression, sending shivers down his spine the longer he stared at it. He considered running, but of course his body wouldn't even allow him to move a finger as he stood perfectly still

As Dib stood outside of his home, he couldn't help the overwhelming loneliness that washed over him. After the neighbours reaction, he highly doubted anyone would take him seriously. Not like they had taken him seriously before anyway.
On top of the extreme aloneness, the boy was feeling a massive amount of paranoia. His house had proven to be just as dangerous a place to be now, and after seeing how easily and quickly Zim could infiltrate it, he realized he would never feel at peace inside of it. He would always be looking around himself, checking to make sure he was truly alone.
Dib took only small, slow steps towards the house now, his eyes flicking everywhere as he scanned for any threats. He was quite jumpy now though, so when a small leaf flew by him he jumped backwards a step and let out a high pitched scream. He began to breathe rapidly until realizing it was just a leaf before taking a deep breath and staring forward again, his eyes continuing to scan his environm
