This year was especially important to me personally and was a milestone of sorts on

I have recently come across a most disturbing phenomenon in my studies of the Diabolic Infestation of the Soul. It seems there is a most frightening psychological conundrum when considering the concept of demonic possession even the most remote possibility of reality upon our earthly plane is the notion that just believing it may be true could very likely be the spark needed for the Demon to discover, seek out, and ultimately inhabit its next vessel of evil: You.

I was inspired to create this series by naikki while looking through her gallery of diverse artwork and reading through her journals which are focused on her favorite inspiring writers and thinkers. I felt certain there must be beautiful artwork in the form of portraits and tributes to these writers and their stories. I found most of naikki's choices of quotes to be inclusionary, redeeming and welcoming to any artist on their own path. Instead of just crediting naikki with the inspiration for this new series on depthRADIUS, I also invited her to provide a quote about Herman Hesse of her own to kick off this series.

It’s rare that a “new” iconic monster is born and becomes forever identifiable,—— no matter the variations, by generation after generation. So it was when George Romero created the ultimate “zombie” in his Night of the Living Dead in 1968. Zombie Apocalypse fans today may have never heard of George or seen the original “Night,” but the zombies they so love in fare like The Walking Dead owe their existence to Romero’s original vision.

North Sea cod stocks are on the road to sustainability, according to Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) research.
The council, which certifies whether fish are being caught sustainably, says it is too soon to tell exactly when the North Sea fishery will be sustainable.
But a spokesman said on current trends, it will be ready for certification within years rather than decades.
Stocks would still be in recovery then, James Simpson said, but they would have passed an acceptable level.
MSC certification is determined by the state of the stocks, the environmental impact of the fishery, and if there is a management system in place to maintain sustainability if circumstances change.
The latter two were already in place, Mr Simpson said.
"This is really great news," he said. "We have done an assessment of the entire inshore industry and it's clear that cod is on the way back."
The recovery was thanks to strict catch limits aided b

A new report identifies the world's most dangerous waters for shipping and says accidents in these areas pose a particular danger for some of the most ecologically important oceans.
The research says the South China, Mediterranean and North seas are the worst accident hotspots.
Losses are more likely in the future as the number of ships is expected to double, the authors warn.
The study has been carried out for WWF International.
The number of ships traversing the world's oceans has increased substantially over the past 15 years from around 85,000 vessels to 105,000.
While the overall number of accidents taken place has fallen, the WWF report states that many that do take place happen in areas of significant environmental interest.
Since 1999, there have been 239 shipping accidents in the South China Sea and East Indies, an area sometimes called the Coral Triangle, where three quarters of the world's coral is found.

A species of frog that was recently rediscovered after being declared extinct has been reclassified as a "living fossil".
Israel's Hula painted frog had not been seen for nearly 60 years, but in 2011 one was found lurking in a patch of swampy undergrowth.
Tests have revealed that the frog belongs to a group of amphibians that died out 15,000 years ago.
The study is published in the journal Nature Communications.
Professor Sarig Gafny, from the Ruppin Academic Center, in Israel, told BBC News: "We felt like we had a great finding when we first rediscovered it - this (frog) was like an idol in Israel.
"But then we found it was a living fossil: this was amazing."
Even before it was declared extinct in 1996, the hula painted frog was an elusive creature.
Despite its distinctive black-and-white-spotted belly, only three adults had ever been seen.
When Israel's Hula valley was drained in the 1950s, its swampy home

The destruction of tropical rainforests is having an even greater impact on the environment than was previously thought, a study suggests.
Scientists have found that deforestation in Brazil is causing trees to produce smaller, weaker seeds that are less likely to regenerate.
They believe this has been triggered by the loss of large birds from the forests, which have beaks big enough to feed on and disperse the seeds.
The study is published in Science.
Pedro Jordano, from the Donana Biological Station in Seville, Spain, said: "One of our major surprises was how rapidly deforestation could not only be influencing the disappearance of the fauna, but to observe how deforestation could influence the evolution of the plant traits so rapidly - within a few generations."
Brazil's Atlantic rainforest was once home to a vibrant array of plants and animals.
But with the arrival of sugar and coffee plantations in the earl

The United Nations today urged Governments to ban all forms of tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship to help curb the global health threat which kills some 6 million people a year.
“Tobacco use is one of the top threats to human health, killing half the people who use it,” Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said, marking World No Tobacco Day, observed annually on 31 May.
“When we reduce people’s exposure to tobacco advertising, we reduce the likelihood that they will start to use tobacco,” he said.
Tobacco is a major risk factor for non-communicable diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and chronic respiratory diseases. By 2030, the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that it will kill more than 8 million people every year, with four out of five of these deaths oc

WIP: Nelson's Marshmallow Sofa (Revisioned)*UPDATE: After some careful consideration, I conceded that my first version of this model had some practicality flaws (thanks to kobaltkween for pointing that out), I went ahead and made some changes to the overall dimensions of the cushions, and their surface distance, to ensure the physics would hold up in a realistic scenario. Fortunately, this fundamental change to the design didn't mean I had to start the cushions from scratch. I was able to change them parametrically, and quickly, with some modifiers. I was also lucky these changes didn't affect the UV's much, and I didn't need to re-texture the models. Anyway, here's a quick production render illustrating the changes. As you can see, compared to the wireframes I posted earlier, the seats of the sofa now contain much more practical surface area, and match the original disk cushions almost exactly in this regard. I think this solves the impracticality problem of the model, as it were.WIP: Nelson's Marshmallow Sofa (Revisioned) in Personal More Like This

The word 'Witchhunt' comes from a time were some women got accused for being witches because of their beauty or their way to modern way of living (being a single mother or non-christian in times where that was absolutely outrageous). Those women would get ridiculous tests to proof their humanity from which they ultimately would die (burning on the fire stake or getting drowned in a river.) The fact that they did not survive it would proof that they are human and not a witch. We all know that there are no immortal people.. so no woman had ever survived it.
Now when we talk about Artist Witchhunts it's pretty similar, an artist would get accused of using unorthodox methods or plagiarism. No one likes plagiarism and
