Since the DA carving contest said I could enter as many times as I want, I figure I can drop my good ones in and see how I fare!
It's Kirby! I like Kirby. Sadly, the only Kirby games I've actually played are Kirby's Adventure and Kirby 64. So I can't say I'm a Kirby fanatic. But Epic Yarn came out recently, and someone suggested I carve Kirby awhile ago, so Kirby it is! This one's for you, ~LugiaLuver1!
So I wasn't actually planning on carving this one this weekend, since I've got midterms up the wazoo next week. But, as circumstances happen, one of my pumpkins from home had a rotting spot! So it was carve or die, and I never say die! Kirby was actually quite perfect for this one, since it's really on the small side. It's also carved upside-down, since it's a very strangely shaped pumpkin and that was the only way to make it work.
Design wise, this one was a cinch. Because of the odd shape of the pumpkin, I couldn't make the best use of my transfer paper, so I mostly freehanded the entire thing. Yet another benefit of using Kirby for this one! I decided on a star shape for the cut out since Kirby's round. I think it turned out neat, which is why I'm confident to enter it in the contest.
Blah de blah, I talk to much on these descriptions. If Kirby ate a pumpkin, would he turn into a pumpkin? Someone needs to draw this! Also, hi everyone from Smosh and Gamesradar!
This is the pumpkin that sucked away all my carving time on Saturday and Sunday. That's right, I spent two days on this thing. I was marathoning the movies while I carved, and this one took up half of 3, and all of 4, 5, and 6. It's crazy man. Be sure to check out the full view for epicness.
So this is actually my 100th carved pumpkin in the 10 years I've been at this. I knew I wanted to go big, so I carved the full crest of Hogwarts, complete with both banners! This one was all me, and all about the shading. It took forever. This thing is so gigantic and detailed, the pictures don't do it justice. I'm really happy with how it turned out, but I regret how long it took. I could have easily carved the other 4 patterns I wanted in the time it took this beast. But it wouldn't be Halloween if I didn't show off just a little
And finally, to finish off my Halloween weekend, I present the reason I've been a sleepless zombie all day! The Gen V Ghost Trio of Hitomoshi, Ranpuraa, and Shandera Litwick, Lampent and Chandelure!
I always try and top myself every year. I knew I had to do something really awesome to top Link from last year. I came up with the idea for this one after posting the original ghost trio and watching it take off. I'm not the first to have carved these guys (~ShinigamiRemu did a pretty awesome version) but I wanted to throw my take on them out there as my last of the weekend.
I still haven't played any of Black or White, but this line really sticks out to me. I'm definitely having a Shandera on my team. They don't quite beat Dusknoir as my favorite ghost pokemon, but they have a bit of a jack-o-lantern feel to them. They're perfect for pumpkins.
This was by far the hardest pumpkin of the weekend. I think it turned out awesome, so I'm throwing it in as my last entry into the DA contest. Wish me luck!
This is my entry for the Good vs. Evil; Bring Your Vision to Life contest.
Seems as though good doesn't always win, but the game's not over yet.
I know there are already a lot of angel/devil and chess themed images that have been submitted but I wanted to do this as I thought it would be good practice to try and colour more realistically than I usually do. Plus they are playing draughts (checkers), not chess. The angel's hair was an experiment on my part seeing as I usually suck at hair. I think it turned out well.
If I had a subscription, this is one piece I would be asking for critique on. Let me here your thoughts please.

Hi friends This is a job for the Dodge Dart Inspired Contest.
Programs: Photoshop, Corel Painter XI, Sai Digital art.
The idea: all start somewhere. The mysterious future. What do we know about the technologies and innovations of the future generation. Sometimes we dream the impossible. The future for us in 2013 - can be a year of upheaval consciousness of humanity. The beginning of this revolution put Dodge Dart. The most perfect form - the horse, within which the ingenious technology of the future is transformed into a car - Dodge Dart. This is evolution.
This is a picture for the contest Tomb Raider Reborn. For me this is really a legendary game. I admire Lara Croft from childhood. The new game has opened for all of us a new girl, not just the beautiful and courageous heroine, it is now vulnerable, humane, we see in the game scene as Lara fights his fear, finds a new side character. I painted a scene of falling. When fighting enemies, she falls into the abyss, and fade in the air for a moment, she sees a beautiful bird and understands how it's a great time, she even forgot that it can break, it felt like a bird reborn in this moment. Software: Photoshop CS5, Corel Painter XI Thanks for the comments and favs dear friends
My first, of what will be hopefully 4 entries to the The ultimate fandom contest so before I start with my long-ass description, I'll give the rundown as requested by contest rules:
-Ultimate fandom contest3: video games (already gave a link up top) -Gaming franchise: Sonic the Hedgehog (can fit many of the games, but more likely Sonic Adventure) -Environment or character: Character (I will do an environment next) -My description: read below...
At first, I wanted to avoid the temptation to draw an already popular game character, but really, nearly all the games I am a fan of are either Sonic or mario-related lol. So if I forced myself to draw a game I didn't care about simply because less will do it, well it would defeat the purpose of fanart now wouldn't it? Plus, I just realised I havn't made any Sonic-related fanart in a year and a half! oh the time goes faster than Sonic himself In recent years, Sonic has gotten bad press from half of his fanbase, who think that the newer 3D games are butchering the franchise and many former fans just think Sonic would be better off rolling over and dying. Well, I agree that the old ones are definetily more "fun" and have more replay value. But I don't think the new ones are all that bad, But still - I'm hanging on for the day when Sonic explodes in popularity when Sega finally brings out what we all want...a 3D rendition of some of the best older games
And now for the technical details. Both Sonic and Dr Eggmam had their poses based off found images, I got the idea for Sonic's pose from a screenshot of Sonic Adventure, and Eggman's is from the "Sonic-X" anime show that seemed to go out as quickly as it came in (mind you, Eggman was really holding a control stick to one of his machines, but I thought the Emerald would be more appropriate) However, the lighting and colour scheme on the characters, along with the background was all purely my idea, I wanted the action-packed movie-poster sort of thing going on here
Sonic and Dr Eggman are copyrighted characters of Sega. This fan-art is made and copyrighted by me, please do not steal and use this artwork
My fourth and final entry to the Ultimate Fandom contest, and I think I saved my best idea for last First - the mandatory rundown.
-Ultimate Fandom Contest 3: Video Games [link] -Gaming Franchise: Super Mario Bros -Environment or Character: Environment -My Description: below as usual
Bowser, or "King of Koopa" as he was formerly called, has been present ever since Mario's first adventure, and every evil villain needs his fortress of doom right? so His castle has always been a final stage in each game. For a couple of months now, I've been wanting to do something like this, and this contest was my motivation to actually do it, since it seemed like a daunting task to try out. Bowser's castle does seem to vary in appearance from game to game, probably because Mario keeps laying waste to all of his expensive castles lol. I was on the verge of drawing the type you see in the latest Mario Kart game, but found a screenshot from a different game (I think Mario Party for the DS) which is where I based this from, and the design on that version looked the coolest of all the Bowser Castle's I've seen
Art details: This one is 100% pure illustrated in Photoshop (with a mouse still lol), something I hardly do now that I have 3D and access to stock textures or photo's. I figured it would look better and more dramatic that way, considering my other entry to the environment slot was almost fully 3D. And to also remind everyone that I can do pretty good stuff without the need for 3D too Everything here was done from scratch in the most traditional way that digital art can get
