The couple sat together on the chesterfield while Mindy and the Changeling sat on chairs facing them and Quebec Star floated around the room. “Please tell us everything you can remember,” Mindy asked. “We need to know as much as possible about your ordeal.”

Shadow the Hedgehog had been wandering the world for some time with only scattered memories of being trained to speak by a young girl while he was in prison. The reason for his imprisonment he's unsure of, but he does know someone the girl (he's forgotten her name) saved him from a terrible fate and taught he fairness, kindness, and the value of beauty through her artwork. This seems in direct contrast to his natural inclination and skill at using firearms and fighting, something his body is conditioned and trained to do.
His final most vivid memory is the name she gave him. Shadow.
Interested in recovering his past but also hesitant to do for fear of what dark secrets lurk in the fog of amnesia he has been traveling quietly and stealthily across the country, pursued by mysterious red robots as well as the forces of a militant private military called The Guardian Unit of Nations (G.U.N) who sees him as a threat. Akihiko Togakure was born with life's knee firmly on his neck.
The seventh son of a poor family in Japan he was abducted by pirates at ten and rescued by ninjas at fifteen, after five years spent in thankless servitude. Those five years however had toughened his skin and his resolve. Sensing much potential in the lad, the master ninja of the hidden clan began training him in the deadly arts and when he became a man he assumed the coveted mantle of Shadow Warrior: the elite tier of the elite.
But Akihiko wasn't fond of being told what to do. Disciplined, yes. Cowed. No.
After escaping from the mountain fortress he traveled to Tokyo after several adventures in the countryside, acquiring an ancient but powerful sword in the process. Unlike the clan his interests were less shadowy anarchistic manipulation of Japanese politics, and more immediate acquirement of food, drink, and pleasurable company.
To that end he took on the occupation his skills allowed him to ex

If there was one thing MegaKat city hated more then the criminal element, it was vigilantes.
Not that they hadn't had their fair share of effective citizen heroes, the most famous now infamous example being Dark Kat who served the people as a silent, thankless defender from the shadows for years. Then for reasons still unknown to the day he turned villainous, leading a wave of terrorism and violence unparalleled in the city's checkered history. After the fall of Dark Kat it was a nigh capital offense for regular civilians to carry firearms, operate military grade vehicles, or engage in any unsanctioned heroic activities whatsoever.
That would be the job of the government owned and operated Enforcers.
And it was this lone opportunity to serve their populace (as well as legally gain access to high-grade explosives, gunships and well guns) that appealed to childhood friends Chance Furlong and Jake Clawson, the former being a Brutal Ba

The first of Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes forays was a welcome revelation. From the trailers it appeared to an action heavy brain dead film for people who had no idea what Sherlock Homes was, perhaps written by those who didn't either. There was none of the subtlety, none of the charm, and none of the cerebral investigations that permeate the works of Arthur Conan Doyle.
But this all turned out to be the fault of a poor trailer, not a poor film. Ironically the previews highlighted all the not-so-good scenes leaving out the truly clever and entertaining ones for the most part. In the actual movie there's a great camaraderie and rivalry between Watson and Holmes that really makes each step of the production enjoyable. The villain too is almost as brilliant as Holmes in his schemes making him a formidable opponent.
Then there was the shadowy menace of Professor James Moriarty, intriguingly only shown in the shadow

Zach Synder is rapidly gaining a reputation as a visionary director even since his powerful debut with Dawn of the Dead. He reinvigorated comic movies with the success of 300 and confirmed his credit as a comic movie director with the highly faithful Watchmen. His reputation revolves around his devotion to classic geek culture, the archetypes of science fiction and fantasy brought to vivid larger the life reality by the latest computer generated effects. He's also infamous for having scantily clad and promiscuous female characters in compromising situations, overblown combat set pieces, and incredible amounts of slow motion photography.
All of these things blend into his latest production: SuckerPunch.
Apparently a long time vanity project with roots in his early childhood artwork, SuckerPunch was initially marketed as 'Alice in Wonderland with machine guns' when it was first announced. The title alone suggests something powerful, blunt force, shock

Her world changed the moment the alarms started, then an explosion which left a cloud of smoke, debris and sparks from damaged equipment, the next moment she felt herself carried away and tossed in a closet by a man...her father perhaps?
The next moment the sound of a pained scream and a flash of light and heat that sliced through the storage closet door and walls, collapsing it as more screams and destruction were heard despite the little girl being buried
Then quiet outside of her pained breathing and sobs accompanied by the shrieks and the feel of pounding someone calling her name as smoke began to filter in.
She felt warm, and then light headed, then nothing.
Alruna's eyes opened with a start and a strangled scream that threw out a flurry of air bubbles in the stasis tube that served as h
Angel Falls - Fragments - Part 3Three months, at least that's how long she'd been alone in the steel and stone forest that was Angel Falls, she'd managed to keep to herself, keep a low profile from normal people and metahumans alike, the later more out of fear and training than worry over being discovered.Angel Falls - Fragments - Part 3 in Short Stories More Like This
Survival and understanding the world weren't alien things to her, since her first moments in that cramped pod she'd been fed information at an astonishing rate, everything from mathematics, to geographic knowledge to even classical literature to basic combat.
But despite having text book knowledge of the world, she still lacked....hands on experience. She watched as a couple walked by her position, unnoticed from her hiding spot huddled against an alleyway dumpster as they held hands and cooed and giggled.

Angel Falls - A Bit of ForshadowingThe regal figure carried himself with a grace that showed wealth, power and a grand upbringing as he walked down a sidewalk in the super hero saturated city known as Angel Falls.Angel Falls - A Bit of Forshadowing in Short Stories More Like This
The light bronze complexioned man stood perhaps close to six-foot four inches and looked like he regularly worked out, not to the level some of the city's heroes and villains did, but he seemed no slouch in the appearance department. His black hair was slicked back and ended in a shoulder length, braided ponytail which draped over the right shoulder of the white dress shirt.
He paused in his walk to flick an errant bit of lint from his pressed, grey khakis before he went to a nearby vendor.
"Good afternoon Mr. Singh, the usual," an elderly man asked from behind a weathered, silver cart said while polishing the reflective top.
"Of course Mr. Watson, you know me far too well, now no skimping on the mustard this time" the gentleman replied with a short laugh as the old vendor set about placing a beef hot do
