Some old folks have the smell of the grave already on them. Every bone in their body cries out in anguish whenever they move. A constant painful reminder of a youth long gone.
When I met her I thought, "This one is racing to the grave."
Her face was aged far, far beyond her twenty-something years. I'd need a damn good make-up artist to hide the deep latticework of wrinkles expanding out from the mean corners of her mouth and down from her scalp across her forehead. Dark circles grew beneath tired eyes with a vacant stare like a weary whore's.
But that cold, dead fish-eyed look hid a voracious and seemingly endless desire for more. Lots more. Lots, lots more. More money, more attention, more photos. She was like a spoiled child seeking constant affirmation through never-ending attention. Life was too s

Said nasty things to Harley here on Deviant Art. Which is fine, she's entitled to her opinion. But when I scoped out her profile I noticed she is rude to a lot of people and actually attacked a girl with cerebral palsy and called her ugly and stuff.
That's pretty awful. Having an opinion or critiquing someone's art is one thing. Being a serious bitch is something else. Yeah, I called you out. You're disgusting and cowardly.
Here's hoping her weekend is ruined and even the weeks to come...

Alice X. Z. - Living Rainbow Taking FlightThe vibrant digital paintings of alicexz are fiery, emotional, and incredibly memorable. The colors of her creations (mostly portraits of popular TV and Film characters) are unusually vibrant, which is remarkable considering how layered they appear to be. It’s sort of like what manga characters might look like if painted by one of the Dutch Masters. And this artist exhibits just the right amount of quirkiness to leave us wanting to know more: she has a penchant for painting redheads. But, then of course, there’s a lot of red and golden fire burning through most her artworks.Alice X. Z. - Living Rainbow Taking Flight in DeviantART Announcements More Like This

The Timeless Code of the Eternal OutsiderWhy Drive will be the movie that is remembered in years to come. Film Noir is a genre of “life in the shadows” movies that became popular in America during the uncertain times of World War II. Westerns have remained a shorthand for the American psyche with their sullen outsiders with a personal code of honor bucking the system. Samurai films mirror the lone avenger protagonist, but set against a longing for a lost society of incorruptible values. Now and again a notable contemporary noir or western or samurai film emerges with little fanfare amidst all the commercial cacophony of the louder, bolder, more spectacular action films that rule today’s box office. One such gem of film blending all three genres flashed out of the shadows briefly in 2011. It’s called “Drive” and I think it is the greatest artistic achievement of the past year. The Timeless Code of the Eternal Outsider in Personal More Like This

Japan Trip... MinamisanrikuA little more on Minamisanriku before I move on. It is impossible to describe what I saw there. Standing in the middle of such mass destruction is overwhelming to the point you just go numb. More than anything, what I felt was confusion. My mind could not comprehend houses in this place, I couldn't hear children playing, smell food cooking, or touch the texture of a building it was all scraped clean down to nothing but concrete slabs.Japan Trip... Minamisanriku in Personal More Like This
We had hired a cab driver to take us around. It felt invasive so we asked the cabbie if it was OK. Not only was he OK with me taking photos, he knew all the best spots because he had shuffled many people from the press to various locations. He told us that his Father in law was in the hospital when the earthquake hit, so the nurses took him up to the third floor where they thought they'd be safe. The tsunami took them all.
As we drove into the center of where the town used to be, I just got out and started walking. My gf couldn't bring herself to ev

There was one building I really wanted to shoot when we went to Minamisanriku. It was the place where Miki Endo worked. She was a lovely vibrant 24 year old newly wed who worked at the Minamisanriku Disaster Response headquarters. It was her responsibility to announce the warning of an approaching tsunami.
"Tsunami warning, get to higher ground", she repeated over and over again. In many of the videos from that fateful day, you can hear her voice echoing through the town as water rushed in and swallowed everything in it's path. She was on the second floor of the building. Thirty people worked there and when the tsunami came they all rushed higher and higher but Miki stayed at her post issuing warnings until the very last second in an effort to save as many lives as possible. Along with others, she hurried to the roof, but the raging tsunami ripped the skin off the building and gutted it, taking everything and everyone inside, and the

Funny thing about bullet trains they don't turn around but rather go to a destination the go backwards over the same tracks. As a result of this, all the seats rotate 180 degrees so passengers can always be facing forward. But it's odd to look for your seat and notice the numbers going up sometimes and down sometimes depending on which way you are headed.Japan Trip... dazed and confused in Personal More Like This
We had a nice breakfast in Sendai. My girlfriend went ahead to our room to pack while I took a few photos. I went to the restroom in the lobby and as I sat there communing with nature and enjoying the wonderfully heated toilet seat, I noticed a narrow door in front of me. Out of curiosity, I opened it. A mop with gloves fell out of it and scared the crap out of me! Curiosity will be the death of me. As I left the restroom, I realized I couldn't remember what room we were in, I didn't have the key, and I most assuredly didn't speak Japanese. Fortunately

Photographing crafts is not as daunting as it seems. For those of you out there with amazing creative streaks in you, it isn't actually that difficult to take it one step further and put the effort into snapping your wonderful creations. It just takes a little planning, a camera and some creativity.
Rule Number One
Never ever ever ever ever Photograph something on your bed. Ever. I mean it! Your bed is for sleeping, and er, other things. But definitely not for placing your well constructed craft item upon, pointing your camera at, and pressing the button.
You might think I'm stating the obvious but seriously, the amount of people who think they'll just pop their item on the bed and take a picture...is..well..I don't have the statistics but there are many of Us!
Rule Number Two
Stay away from your cluttered up shelves and bits and pieces. Put your craft i
On MentoringHello, everyone! On Mentoring in Personal More Like This
I’m so excited for the opportunity to contribute just a bit to Project Educate this week! My topic for tonight is something that is very important to me: Mentorship.
What is “Mentorship,” exactly?
The answer to this question may seem obvious, but let’s break it down for the purposes of discussion. In essence, the “short answer” is that mentorship is the development of a partnership between two individuals in which there is the implicit or explicit understanding that one of those individuals has a skill or bit of knowledge that the other one would like to learn.
People might derive from this definition that the purpose of a mentoring relationship is for one person to teach the other person something. I say, no way! Read on.
As a mentor, my job is NOT to teach you something. Rather, my job is to help guide your learning. If I say “Let me teach you how to . . .” then I am not

Goodbye DA, keep your kittens bunnies and boobsLately i was looking for an alternative website that is interested in ART and not in public relations, facebook-type community activities, and whatever else DA represents the past years, and its going from bad to worse...Goodbye DA, keep your kittens bunnies and boobs in Personal More Like This
im looking the popular pages everyday,,,, and.... WHAT THE FUCK ??? what is this crap???? who the fuck votes for that shit?? where are the people that actually make art, and not commercial shit? why the fuck are everyday a couple of kitten pictures of ZERO quality in the popular pages?? That's right. I'm talking to all you out there. Those of you that go running to see something the minute you see the words, "naked," "pussy," "artistic nude," etc in the same title, line, or image. Yes, that whole large crowd.
I see you.

I've been noticing this steady decline in quality art popping up on dA. And I'm not here to start any dARama, just so you all know, but I am here to state an opinion. You all have all of your opinions, I'm allowed to speak mine. Anyways, yes, decline in quality. And by this, I don't mean that more kids have run to their crayons and their coloring books and are busy posting that online. No. I'm talking about the literal cell phone crap that I am seeing on the MAIN PAGE of deviantArt. Cell phone shots of women with their legs sp
Fair WarningTo friends, family, fans, and fellow professionals,Fair Warning in Personal More Like This
I sincerely regret to post the message that follows, but unfortunately I feel that it has come to the point where I must.
For the past several months, I have been trying to (quietly) deal with & resolve a very unfortunate matter involving an individual who has not only been aggressively continuing her attempts at pursing me, but has gone as far as threatening my life, reputation & career.
To take necessary precautions to prevent the realization of these threats, I have decided that it would be best for me to forewarn those with whom I have valued professional & personal relationships as the said individual is also a mutual friend of many of you. Due to the seriousness of this matter, the proper legal consultants & I have begun the steps to
