The Aftermath (ZaDr) ~ Chapter 6
An hour hadn't even passed when the Tallest contacted Zim, giving him the 'okay' to board the Massive whenever he was ready. Zim quickly saluted his leaders and ended the transmission, his squeedily-spooch churning with excitement. He'd finally be able to go home.
After the invader hung up on his leaders, he hastily made his way to Dib's room. His lips tugged into a small smile as he noted the empty food tray next to the cot. His eyes wandered to the sleeping human, a sharp pang of- something, erupting throughout his body. It had been the first time in months that the prisoner had allowed himself such leisure and relaxation, and because of Zim, he'd soon be deprived of it.
Zim shook his head. No. He had warned the stink-beast that he should have eaten and slept long before he contacted the Massive. It was not his fault the human ignored his advice. He'd pay the price for his own mistakes.
Sighing heavily, Zim walked up to the cage's door and unlocked it. He strode over to

"Ugh! I hate this weather!" Dib complained as he stood outside of Hi Skool, watching the rain fall mercilessly to the ground. He looked over at the Irken that stood to his left. Who, much to his satisfaction, was shorter than him. After four years of being on the planet the Irken had realized that his old attire had been deemed 'weird,' and in his attempt to successfully blend in with the humans he had taken the human with him to purchase clothing that was 'normal', which consisted of very dark colors. On every outfit Zim had stitched a pink insignia of his Irken empire. The invader had also customized a longer wig to hide his growing antenna.
After the shopping trip the two became something more- not enemies, and at the same time, they were not friends. Their relationship had grown into something like an

Okay, so the first half of this chapter is gonna be trough Dib's P.O.V. because it's sooo much easier to explain things through his eyes.
Sixteen years ago was the beginning of my end. On the day of my birth I was taken away from a human nursery on the planet Earth and was raised by an Irken service drone in order to serve my one and only master. The drone told me that Master had bought me legally and therefore I was his forever, but I know I was stolen. Human slaves are illegal in every galaxy, and on every planet. Well, besides Earth, but I never have, and never will admit I know that. I don't need another reason for Master to 'correct' me...
On the day of my second year my master, Blin, assigned me as his personal slave. He told me if I was questioned, I was to 'refer myself as his adopted son.', whatever that was... Master Blin uses many terms that I do not understand, but I've learned to never question him, or it'll lead to more 'correcting'.
For the next five years, there

Red sat with a bored expression as he watched Purple stuff his face with doughnuts. His eye began to twitch as he listened to the disgusting sound of the other Tallest's lips smacking together. Finally growing tired of the sound, Red yelled at Purple."Pur, it's been three HOURS. Put down the disgusting earth food that idiot Zim sent and do something productive!"
Tallest Purples' eyes widened comically. He looked down at the sugary treats in his hands and then back at Red. "Bu- but Reeeeed~. They're soooooooo good!" He gave the other tallest puppy dog eyes, his lip pouting adorably. "Earth sweets are soooooo much better than Irks!"
Red sighed and rolled his eyes. "I've known you since we were smeets Pur. That look lost its effect a LONG time ago."
Purple looked close to tears as he reluctantly put the doughnuts down on the ship's control panel. The box of Earth goodies in the corner hit a lever which, consequently, blew up a casino pl

Looking forward at the crescent shaped chair in which his new master was seated in, a confused teen watched from his spot on the round bed as the ex-Elite examined his new lab that had been hidden by a hologram of a wall. The Irken hummed to himself, picking up various objects only to set them back down again. After a few minutes, Zim turned away from his observations in favor of the boy.
“This lab is impressive.” He said excitedly. “It’s a fair size, has a good amount of tools,” he then grinned sadistically. “There’s even chemicals in here I could only dream of using!” Letting out a content sigh, he turned away from Dib and stared into his lab. “With these materials, I could create a whole new era of weaponry for the Armada.” Dib watched silently as the black stalks upon the other’s head wilted slightly. “Or myself.” Nodding his head, the Irken set out to do just that.

I hate the look on your face: Lost, scared, tired. I hate how we let ourselves become this weak, shuddering from pain but so transfixed in the silence that surrounds us. Ever so gently, I reach out my worn out palm and caress your singed flesh that was once so perfectly smooth. Your maroon orbs scan across my features, searching for something but what that something is is anyone's guess.
Then you smile.
It wasn't one of your egotistical, cocky, "I'M BETTER THAN YOU FILTHY BAGS OF FLESH FOR I AM ZIM!" smiles. No. It was something- wonderful. So wonderful that it was painful. With a shaky tri-fingered hand, you lightly smack my cheek. "That l'k... d'snt f't you... hyooman."

The drone worked fast and efficiently and once everything was once again right, she wasted no time in kicking the rude Irken out of the room.

The process took a gruesome eighty years, but the Irken's did it; They built the first space vessel to ever travel such great distances without any problems or hindrance.

How long has it been: Hours, days, weeks, months? With the missing essence of a clock or window, the human had lost his sense of time long ago. He usually had an idea of what time it was when Zim came to visit him, bringing him food and water three times a day, but after that 'incident', Zim stopped coming. Gir came by every so often, bringing some sort of snack or an occasional meal and sometimes when Zim's computer cleansed Dib of his human filth it would strike up an irrelevant conversation, but besides that he was completely alone.
At first he had expected the alien to come back and torture him or even kill him. But as time dragged on and Zim had yet to reappear, Dib began to get worried. Not only for himself, but for his captor. Was Zim just going to leave him there in that cage to slowly starve to death, or was he just avoiding the human because of what happened? It was a hideous duet of brain-rotting boredom that filled Mrs. Bitters' classroom, the song of another day of learning and drudgery. The sound of the clock moving its hands and of the teacher droning from her desk had enveloped the room for a good hour without interruption, and it appeared that it would continue that way.
No resistance was met to the typical, expected display, accompanied by the same dull eyes staring ahead at the blackboard, the same scraping of pencil lead against flat sheets of plant matter shavings, the same empty heads and hollow gazes and vain attempts at absorbing useless information -- all save for two people sitting in the front row, the only live ones among the pitiful lot.

It happened once every year.
It wasn't really a big deal; Zim was used to it by now, ever since he went through the change from the equinox he had to take a week off school and just confine himself to his house.
Sure, it made him irritated and more hostile than normal, but it was just him in his lab for that week so there was no threat of him trying to leave and do something about his discomfort and irritation.
This dreaded event was called, 'Heat' and Zim suffered from it once every year for an entire week before those disgusting needs died down.
He knew the basics; ever since he felt the stirrings within his body, felt his skin grow hot and his mouth dry with this unusual yearning he had done some research on the subject. At first he thought he had contracted some Earth illness; but now he knew better, after all, he had suffered through four of these cycles thus far.

It had been about ten hours.
Ten hours and Zim hadn't moved from his seat in front of the computer console.
Anger had come and gone; at first he wanted to rant and rave, yell at the ceiling, run after Dib and rip him to pieces. But after the first few hours passed, anger turned to boredom and boredom turned to restlessness and restlessness turned to an almost loneliness.
"Zim needs no one!" Zim scoffed, his voice vibrating off the walls. He reclined back in his chair, arms crossed over his chest as his large red eyes roamed the darkness of the wires tangled throughout the ceiling.
Where was the Dib-beast anyway?
Hopefully hidden well.
Though, his previous want to dismember the dirt-child had ebbed to a nagging something. A feeling he was familiar yet unfamiliar with, an almost pulling on his skin, a type of hunger that was beginning to consume his thoughts.
Zim gasped and sat ram-rod straight in his chair, his eyes staring blankly across the room.

He knew what was wrong, that he was definitely having trouble with the whole Keef incident. He didn't know how to address it or even if he should, thinking that maybe if they sort of ignored what happened more or less the wound would heal faster.
They were in silence for a while, Zim staring at the glass and Dib glancing at him. His mind was elsewhere, wondering what he should do, if he should do anything. Hmph, well of course he had to do something, there was no way on Irk he would simply sit there and remain defenseless! But in the end there wasn't much he could do, until the repairs were made. Zim was already in the main elevator shoot, heading toward the ground level of the base. The quiet hum of the machinery as it transported him downward was hardly a welcome reprieve, giving his mind room to fill the silence with memories of the sounds Dib made only moments prior.

He was used to hearing them from his own lips, because he was always the dominating figure. No one save his Tallests could be allowed to show any greatness above Zim's.
But the Dib had.
Zim scowled, eyes burning a hole into the wall with their intensity. He had assumed the dirt child would use the knowledge of his antennae eventually for his own purposes, but certainly not so soon, or for THAT particular reason.

Mildly assured, Zim ushered Dib into the house, closing the door behind him. "Computer!" He shouted. "Is the main database fully functional yet?"

Normally, though, a cleanse only took Zim about five minutes, not the almost half-hour he spent inside the room.
What held him there so long was the scrubbing. Even if his skin looked clean, it didn't feel clean. So he'd scrub again. And again. All down his abdomen. Around his thighs. He avoided touching his antennae, aware that scrubbing them might cause more problems than help but Irk, how he wanted to clean those off. He cleaned and cleaned and yet still, it wasn't enough. Not only had no one seemed to have heard me, it looked like almost everyone had left for lunch. "Just what the hell are you calling me for? And what gives you the right to give me that tone? What the hell's going-" I was cut off by the robot screaming somewhere off into the background. Zim sighed into the phone agitatedly. Day 1827 since Zim arrived.
It's average. Normal now.
Running about my quiet neighborhood, trecking through this stupid, nameless town with my nemesis.
We throw punches and laugh.
Kick and scream insults. Afterwards we walk around, hands in pockets just talking.
Nothing important mind you, but just stuff we both feel.
Sometimes he'll speak of Irk. It sounds beautiful.
I'll tell him about my mom. He didn't laugh when I cried. Not saying he comforted me either. But it's something new.
We'll debate about religion, the afterlife, politics, and of course it always comes back to the fate of Earth.
By no means are we friends.
So many problems still exist. But maybe one day
I can look at him and not feel like I'm looking at a bomb just waiting to explode.
Maybe one day I won't feel him watching me with suspicion in those mauve eyes.
Or maybe not.

'How dare him' Zim thought. 'How dare he ignore Zim!' Rage boiled up inside the tiny invader as he stormed after his nemesis. He felt a sense of déjà vu, as he recalled Dib refusing to fight with him beforebut he had at least WARNED Zim!
It was hot outside. One of those days that made the threat of Global warming that much more plausible. The sky was a disheartening burgundy color, the sun beaming down with pinpoint precision on anyone who was unlucky enough to be outside at the current moment.
Fortunately, for nearly everyone else in the crappy little town, they were indoors, watching television and drinking cold beverages. Not so fortunately, Dib was the person the sun was beaming down on.
It didn't do much to increase his good mood. Not that there had been much of a good one in the first place. He irritatedly whipped away a droplet of sweat that was rolling its way down his forehead. Why was his house so far away? Why was it so freaking
StrengthNeither of them thought it would happen. Zim never in his wildest dreams, if that’s what you could call them and Dib well, he had dreamt about it back in his teen years where everything had seemed like too much and most of his time was dedicated to thinking but, never considered it a real possibility.Strength in General Fiction More Like This
But, now he was 23 and the alien was giving up. Not that he wanted to or even admitted to it outright, still shielding himself behind empty plans. But, there was something in his eyes. Those maroon orbs usually so violently flickering back and forth, narrowing with greed were dull.
So, Dib knew. And he watched the Irken, his greatest enemy and possibly his only friend walk away down their neighborhood, head bent to the sidewalk. The setting sun painted his green skin a light orange. He knew what Zim was walking away from, what the irken was denying. The same he’d always denied. The fear, the fault, the responsibilities, the truth. Poor little alien so far from home, so b
The Forest"So, tell me again why you're here." Dib inquired, panting slightly, thumbs hooked into his backpack. Around him the forest rustled, wind through the leaves, innocent and seemingly barren. Zim trailed behind him, practically crawling except for the forest was filled with germs and stuff and he didn't want to touch that so he was doing an awkward kind of jig.The Forest in General Fiction More Like This
"You. Walk too. Fast." He panted.
"Not my fault your little legs can't keep up." Dib mocked, casually eyeing the trees while his companion gasped as though fatally wounded, standing upright.
"Tiny, puny, pathetic?" The boy mused. "You're all those things."
"How dare you?! I am perfectly sized and far from pathetic, Yanno being a high class irken elite. Unlike you." Sniffing arrogantly, Zim sauntered forward. Dib pulled out a map from his backpack.
"Oh? How am I pathetic?" The Irken growled and stomped around to the front of Dib, trying to get a good look at the map, but the human held it up too high.

Several stars glittered, flying across the inky blackness. Being here felt like a dream. Floating in nothingness and yet the most of anything ever, flying like no human ever had before holding onto the most important person in his life.
"Let's go do something."
Zim clutched onto Dib as he felt those arms bring him in close, grateful that Dib hadn't decided to give up right then. His breath came out shakily as his 'spooch beat so hard that it shook the small frame of the alien.
At this moment, Zim was only aware of the human that held him. It didn't matter that he had his wig on, and his antennae were hindered by the fabric; Zim knew that even without it, he would only be able to sense Dib. Enveloped by his warmth and scent, Zim couldn't think of anyplace he'd rather be.
He frowned a bit when Dib pulled away, but gladly took his hand.
He sighed a bit. "Do what? There's nothing to do around here, really. We'd have better luck finding something to do in sp

All I Want For X-Mas
CHAPTER 1 Part 1
It was the night before Christmas and all through the Membrane household not a creature was stirring well unless you count a skinny, pale, large headed boy at about the age of 8 as a creature.
Dib's glasses, which were much too large for his face began slipping down as the boy peered around the corner and into the living room where their scrawny tree stood, with its bare branches. Well, bare except for a few tiny bulbs in the shapes of various mythical creatures; bigfoot, moth men, werewolves, monsters of the unusual sorts and of course UFOs.
Dib loved UFOs. Well, he loved the paranormal in general. But, to be as specific as possible, Dib loved Aliens. He adored what they stood for. Life outside of this tiny, crude planet. How they had so many possibilities. So much amazing technology. And of course those funny limbs and eyes.
The little(well not so little anymore) boy skidded out from behind his cover, now that he was satisfied

And you would fight for Zim out of loyalty?" Zim questioned finally. It was a strange thought; all these years of fighting each other, why would Dib fight for Zim out of loyalty?
Dutifully, Dib scooped out the vanilla cream and plopped it onto the cone before handing it over to the alien menace. "Here, your majesty. I hope you enjoy. I lost a leg while getting it for you but, it was worth it." Once the ice cream was handed off, the teen walked over to the register to pay for their cones, wondering if the old man recognized him. From the dimness in his expression, Dib guessed 'no'. Somehow it was both a relief and a disappointment
Zim rolled his eyes at Dib. He liked the idea of Dib being his faithful knight, but the human's obvious sarcastic tone was ruining the imagery.
Hesitantly the alien tasted the plain white treat, this time not being surprised by the frostiness. This one was a much more subtle sweetness; it was creamy and surprisingly good.

Dib was almost content sitting in the heated afternoon or at least that what he resolutely told himself. With his girl friend leaning on his chest, hands around her waist and sipping on poop cola, he was feeling almost complete. Almost like he could lose himself in the normalcy of it all and forget for a little bit that his life was all but falling apart at the seams now.
Key word; almost. Because even as Gretchen blabbered about something meaningless and normal, he felt it. The shivery sensation of being watched. Of big, false eyes that probed the edges of this monotone dream that was too good to be true.
They were following his every move, silently moc

That's 240 days.
Day 77 of my Lab Investigation.
With the help Of Gir, whom I found huddling under a table WAY back in the rescesses of Zim's lab, and my ability to hack into Irken technology, I've recovered a recording that Zim did, exactly a month before his death.
After listening to the last few, I have to say I was a bit nervous to watch.
However, even if this one isn't as bad as the one before it still makes me ache.
I've transferred it into English script.
I don't know why I bother when I already speak Irken. I guess it's to have it in my native language, to be able to read them even when I'm drowsy from lack of sleep. A way of holding onto him, maybe?

Dib sat on the nearest chair as Gir handed him an ice pack in which he put over his newest forehead bruise.
"We didn't get anything done." He finally said with a bit of anger.
"Then you will have to do better tomorrow." Zim replied standing tall with his arms crossed.
"What?! Don't expect me to do all of this by myself. We're down two partners as it is."
"Fine. Let's continue." Zim rested one elbow in his hand as the other reached to hold his green head.
"It's 1 a.m. Can't we pick it up in the morning?"
"FINE!" Fed up with Dib's complaining he walked over to a circle in the floor that quickly removed him to another underground space.

The room wasn't so much tense as it was just awkward. Zim didn't seem to notice it but, Dib was trying his best to ignore it. Dib scowled. He furrowed his brow and typed it in again to double check.

"What is... this 'Content'?" Zim interrupted.

I was having that day a week ago. I was sitting on an old wood bench perched on a small hill outside the school during lunch. "ZIM! It's YOUR turn to work the cash register! Get over here!" called Zim's boss. Zim groaned as he was bowling fries into hot grease; it splatting at his fine skin, making him wince every time a bubble popped.
