Finally done with it, here you go ladies and gents.
While I want to call this piece a study, I can't deny I just like drawing my stuff too :D

Another commission for :iconmihoshik: *MihoshiK, had a great time working on it. If you're interested in commissioning me check out my journal [link]

Here I did a redesign of Hammer's Slammers mercenary hover tanks. The tank runs on a fusion generator, which powers their lift fans and plasma weaponry.
The main gun will melt enemy armored units to slag, while the tri-barrel plasma gun on top handles point defense against infantry, aircraft, and incoming projectiles. A final defensive measure is an array of ball shot mines surrounding the tank, which can kill incoming infantry and missiles.

I tried out some matte painting for the landscape, otherwise it's all hand painted. Made in PS CS4 with a Wacom Intuos3.

Infantry disembark from m81a3 Leopard Light Combat Tanks. These anti-gravity tanks operate with the mobility of a blackhawk helicopter along with the firepower and protection of an IFV.

Long time no post!

Finally, some work that I can actually show that isn't under NDA.

Done for Space Vagabonds [ [link] ] © Gregor Theado 2009

Once in a while you get those crazy passionate clients that actually have vision and know what they want. Gregor is certainly one of them and it was a blast doing these characters and mechanicals for his RPG universe.

This here is the Combat Officer from the Colonial Defence Squadron. They are basically zero G trained rapid response/SWAT teams. Inspiration for this was a combat swimmer's wetsuit and gear and some cult sci fi elements thrown in to mix it all up.

Hi all! It's been so long since I've been able to post work that I've done!

These concept artworks were done in late 2008 for the game Front Mission Evolved. Front Mission is a cult-classic mecha franchise by Square Enix that inspired my love for robots when I was a youngster. It was an insane privilege for IFS and myself to have been able to contribute to it.

Regarding the title-- Yes, I am a huge fan of the Syndicate series (its a classic Bullfrog game). :p I really can't wait to see what EA and Starbreeze will come up with for the next installment.

Anyways, this was a quick one to illustrate an orbital elevator falling through the atmosphere as the terrorist force (from the previous images) brings the fight into the heart of the city. Shown here are brown local military Frost-model Wanzers deployed alongside infantry to defend a city block, blissfully unaware of the... gravity of the situation.

-Skan Srisuwan for his wonderful Wanzer redesigns.

-Verawat Verasunthorn who translated Skan's designs into 3D models, over which a number were used as 'bases' for me to paint over in these artworks to maintain accuracy and as a time saver.

-With Skan's permission, I'd taken design liberties with some of his designs, throwing in my own ideas and flavour to the mix; hopefully providing an extra layer of 'grounded-ness' or grittiness that I felt resonated with the spirit of Front Mission. ;)

This one depicts an assault on a jungle base. A second Wanzer detachment prepares to flank a distracted line of defenders. This image uses some 3D as a base (images of models that I re-cut-and-pasted and then painted over). It also contains my favourite personal 'design additions' thrown in at the painting stage, such as the ERA-tiles on the green approaching Wanzer arms, as well as the dual pile bunkers on the Frost with its back against the rock.

Well... I was thinking in a possible movie cover. As you can see in my gallery I love the cience fiction and create mecha robot. In this illustration maybe you can see robotech style, or any famous video game, not was my intention. I didn´t use reference, only my imagination. I hope you like it.

Thank you for all your comments!

I did this in my game art workshop in Buenos Aires, this was an example that I did for my students as a final piece. The idea was create a Mech and pilot sci fi to understand the light and shadows and geometric forms. It was very fun!

I´m working in the second workshop, I hope that I can do more !!
Argentina have great artists and creative people, I´m very proud to be part of this beautifull country

I hope you like it!

(UPDATE: Fixed a perspective issue with the tail and middle wings)

Issue 2 of Telikos Protocol is on it's way soon and it shows a lot more of the military hardware developed by E.D.G.E. This is the Hammerhead VTOL Gunship, a very nasty and very well armed piece of kit, it has many variants each one becoming progressively more nuts regarding it's load out.
The craft itself is rather large and is able to carry not just masses of weaponry but also masses of troops and other hardware. The large wings are fixed but have large slats running along them halfway down, these are vector thrust vents that allow fast moving air to be shot out of them which is produced by that massive dorsal jet engine which also produces it's forward thrust, basically it's very similar to how the Harrier Jump Jet works, only much fatter.

Catch up on the project on the Facebook page here: [link]

Do first contact situation ever go peacefully? Of course they don't because that would be boring.
Anyway what your looking at is a first contact situation between the Humans and the first alien race to go into the game Novus Aeterno the Verunas. I have shown some of their ship designs recently and this is the first full illustration with them in so it was nice to paint something other than Human V Human.

The Verunas aren't very friendly they are the most advanced race in the game and they know it, they are big headed both physically and mentally.

Also this painting will cover a 20ft wall at out booth at PAX in April which will be rather cool to see.

Enjoy

BAM! And here it is after much deliberation about how the cover should look with Peter Cooper (the writer) we finally decided on an epic, heroic, last stand style image. I had great fun on issue 3 and learnt a lot, the artwork is by the best so far by miles and you will all be very happy... I hope :ahoy:

For info on when you can get your hands on issue 3 and to see the finished titled cover for issue 3 head over to the Facebook page NOW: www.facebook.com/telikosprotoc…

More SC2 stories still coming out - Terran getting a look-in now!

Lost Vikings
Erik Snabb did his time in the corps, but he got smart and traded in his wings while he still could. Going from being a fighter ace to being a loving husband and father took some getting used to, but Erik is handling it well… until the zerg threaten his home and his family once again.

Really enjoyed this one; it's a shame it always seems like such a bad idea to land Vikings on the ground! Hehe.
A higher res wallpaper version can be found here as usual.

Back to the whole mecha-inspired-by-birds thing again, been wanting to do a paradise tanager for ages now! I think I might try again though and see if I can get a different feel, maybe something lighter and more agile?
Anyway had fun with this, and while the pose is a bit uninspired I'm happier with it looking at it again this morning.

Process will be up later,
Process is here -

Enjoy!

Another one! This time a bit tighter, I guess; a little bit messy compositionally but hey.

Points to those who can guess the ducks, no points for comments about Armored Core or Metal Gear.
Enjoy!

I'll try to get a process thingo up this evening as well.
Process is up!
