The Aftermath (ZaDr) ~ Chapter 4
How long has it been: Hours, days, weeks, months? With the missing essence of a clock or window, the human had lost his sense of time long ago. He usually had an idea of what time it was when Zim came to visit him, bringing him food and water three times a day, but after that 'incident', Zim stopped coming. Gir came by every so often, bringing some sort of snack or an occasional meal and sometimes when Zim's computer cleansed Dib of his human filth it would strike up an irrelevant conversation, but besides that he was completely alone.
At first he had expected the alien to come back and torture him or even kill him. But as time dragged on and Zim had yet to reappear, Dib began to get worried. Not only for himself, but for his captor. Was Zim just going to leave him there in that cage to slowly starve to death, or was he just avoiding the human because of what happened? Had he really hurt the green teen so much that he refused to see the human? Maybe Zim was thinking of a per

"Ugh! I hate this weather!" Dib complained as he stood outside of Hi Skool, watching the rain fall mercilessly to the ground. He looked over at the Irken that stood to his left. Who, much to his satisfaction, was shorter than him. After four years of being on the planet the Irken had realized that his old attire had been deemed 'weird,' and in his attempt to successfully blend in with the humans he had taken the human with him to purchase clothing that was 'normal', which consisted of very dark colors. On every outfit Zim had stitched a pink insignia of his Irken empire. The invader had also customized a longer wig to hide his growing antenna.
After the shopping trip the two became something more- not enemies, and at the same time, they were not friends. Their relationship had grown into something like an

Okay, so the first half of this chapter is gonna be trough Dib's P.O.V. because it's sooo much easier to explain things through his eyes.
Sixteen years ago was the beginning of my end. On the day of my birth I was taken away from a human nursery on the planet Earth and was raised by an Irken service drone in order to serve my one and only master. The drone told me that Master had bought me legally and therefore I was his forever, but I know I was stolen. Human slaves are illegal in every galaxy, and on every planet. Well, besides Earth, but I never have, and never will admit I know that. I don't need another reason for Master to 'correct' me...
On the day of my second year my master, Blin, assigned me as his personal slave. He told me if I was questioned, I was to 'refer myself as his adopted son.', whatever that was... Master Blin uses many terms that I do not understand, but I've learned to never question him, or it'll lead to more 'correcting'.
For the next five years, there

My master once told me that there was a time when all galaxies were isolated from one another; No one dared venture into the depths of space in fear of being captured or even killed by some unknown alien race. That was until the inhabitants of Irk did what no other species dreamed of...
The Irken leader, Tallest Myuki, ordered her best technicians to build something that could easily cruise around space without a single complication. The process took a gruesome eighty years, but the Irken's did it; They built the first space vessel to ever travel such great distances without any problems or hindrance.
The Viral Tank.
Large in size, the Viral Tank could withstand the journey not only out of Irk's atmosphere, but also that of any other unknown planet's atmosphere. Along with herself, Tallest Myuki chose the most suitable Irken scientists to have total control over the Viral Tank.
And that's when those chosen Irken's found did it.

The Irken hummed to himself, picking up various objects only to set them back down again. After a few minutes, Zim turned away from his observations in favor of the boy.
“This lab is impressive.” He said excitedly. “It’s a fair size, has a good amount of tools,” he then grinned sadistically. “There’s even chemicals in here I could only dream of using!” Letting out a content sigh, he turned away from Dib and stared into his lab. “With these materials, I could create a whole new era of weaponry for the Armada.” Dib watched silently as the black stalks upon the other’s head wilted slightly. “Or myself.” Nodding his head, the Irken set out to do just that.

Finally growing tired of the sound, Red yelled at Purple."Pur, it's been three HOURS. Put down the disgusting earth food that idiot Zim sent and do something productive!"
Tallest Purples' eyes widened comically. He looked down at the sugary treats in his hands and then back at Red. "Bu- but Reeeeed~. They're soooooooo good!" He gave the other tallest puppy dog eyes, his lip pouting adorably. "Earth sweets are soooooo much better than Irks!"

The drone worked fast and efficiently and once everything was once again right, she wasted no time in kicking the rude Irken out of the room.

It was a hideous duet of brain-rotting boredom that filled Mrs. Bitters' classroom, the song of another day of learning and drudgery. The sound of the clock moving its hands and of the teacher droning from her desk had enveloped the room for a good hour without interruption, and it appeared that it would continue that way.
No resistance was met to the typical, expected display, accompanied by the same dull eyes staring ahead at the blackboard, the same scraping of pencil lead against flat sheets of plant matter shavings, the same empty heads and hollow gazes and vain attempts at absorbing useless information -- all save for two people sitting in the front row, the only live ones among the pitiful lot.

It happened once every year.
It wasn't really a big deal; Zim was used to it by now, ever since he went through the change from the equinox he had to take a week off school and just confine himself to his house.
Sure, it made him irritated and more hostile than normal, but it was just him in his lab for that week so there was no threat of him trying to leave and do something about his discomfort and irritation.
This dreaded event was called, 'Heat' and Zim suffered from it once every year for an entire week before those disgusting needs died down.
He knew the basics; ever since he felt the stirrings within his body, felt his skin grow hot and his mouth dry with this unusual yearning he had done some research on the subject. At first he thought he had contracted some Earth illness; but now he knew better, after all, he had suffered through four of these cycles thus far.

It had been about ten hours.
Ten hours and Zim hadn't moved from his seat in front of the computer console.
Anger had come and gone; at first he wanted to rant and rave, yell at the ceiling, run after Dib and rip him to pieces. But after the first few hours passed, anger turned to boredom and boredom turned to restlessness and restlessness turned to an almost loneliness.
"Zim needs no one!" Zim scoffed, his voice vibrating off the walls. He reclined back in his chair, arms crossed over his chest as his large red eyes roamed the darkness of the wires tangled throughout the ceiling.
Where was the Dib-beast anyway?
Hopefully hidden well.
Though, his previous want to dismember the dirt-child had ebbed to a nagging something. A feeling he was familiar yet unfamiliar with, an almost pulling on his skin, a type of hunger that was beginning to consume his thoughts.
Zim gasped and sat ram-rod straight in his chair, his eyes staring blankly across the room.

Zim was already in the main elevator shoot, heading toward the ground level of the base. The quiet hum of the machinery as it transported him downward was hardly a welcome reprieve, giving his mind room to fill the silence with memories of the sounds Dib made only moments prior.
The hungry groans, feral and commanding; they had the essence of noises Zim made when he was angry or had the upper hand-when he was in control. He was used to hearing them from his own lips, because he was always the dominating figure. No one save his Tallests could be allowed to show any greatness above Zim's.
But the Dib had.
Zim scowled, eyes burning a hole into the wall with their intensity. He had assumed the dirt child would use the knowledge of his antennae eventually for his own purposes, but certainly not so soon, or for THAT particular reason.
He really should have speculated as much, seeing as how the Dib-smell DID have mating urges in his sleep involving him; he

He leaned up against the wall, looking out the glass tube, relaxing slightly as the elevator hummed to life. Dib's eyes flicked to Zim's form, he wanted to ask what was going on in his head, if anything was wrong, but he didn't.
He knew what was wrong, that he was definitely having trouble with the whole Keef incident. He didn't know how to address it or even if he should, thinking that maybe if they sort of ignored what happened more or less the wound would heal faster.
They were in silence for a while, Zim staring at the glass and Dib glancing at him. His mind was elsewhere, wondering what he should do, if he should do anything. Hmph, well of course he had to do something, there was no way on Irk he would simply sit there and remain defenseless! But in the end there wasn't much he could do, until the repairs were made. Waiting was the only option.
Zim didn't have patience to speak of, not when his intentions were in opposition to it.

Getting lost in his head he didn't even realize they'd made it to the base until he was crossing the threshold to his yard, the gnomes staring blankly at him from their various positions along the lawn while he approached the front door and opened it. A wary glance inside revealed the ground floor to be the same as they had left it, with GIR on the couch watching another mindless program. Mildly assured, Zim ushered Dib into the house, closing the door behind him. "Computer!" He shouted. "Is the main database fully functional yet?"
"The request repairs have been completed over two Earth minutes and thirteen seconds ago." The base AI announced dully.
Zim straightened, eagerly ripping off his itchy disguise. "Excellent." He looked at Dib, "Set your things up quickly, Dib-pig. We're going back down to the lab."

He'd wasted no time, marching through the lab with wary eyes until he reached the small cleansing facility, slipping inside and turning the faucet. Normally, though, a cleanse only took Zim about five minutes, not the almost half-hour he spent inside the room.
What held him there so long was the scrubbing. Even if his skin looked clean, it didn't feel clean. So he'd scrub again. And again. All down his abdomen. Around his thighs. He avoided touching his antennae, aware that scrubbing them might cause more problems than help but Irk, how he wanted to clean those off. He cleaned and cleaned and yet still, it wasn't enough. It didn't feel like enough. Eventually Zim decided to give it up, his skin a dark, dark bruise color in the places where he'd cleaned so fervently. The patches burned a little, but n

They could afford to skip class just this once.
Dib ran down the empty hall towards the double doors that led to the front of the school, inhaling fresh air as he burst through the doors and spotted Zim walking down the street. "Zim!" New words come into play. "Zim, are you getting any of this?"
The room wasn't so much tense as it was just awkward. Zim didn't seem to notice it but, Dib was trying his best to ignore it. All the times he had been in this room he had been struggling and fighting to escape, but now he was willingly here. Working on a stupid school project, with his alien enemy.
'Not weird at all.' He thought to himself.
He found the button he was looking for. With all the random doodads he had stolen from Zim he'd managed to slowly learn his language.
He continued typing.
"Error! Subject unknown." The computer beaped.
"What? I'm sure I spelled it right."
Dib scowled. He furrowed his brow and typed it in again to double check.
"Error! Subject still unknown." The computer repeated.
"What is... this 'Content'?" Zim interrupted.
"It's-" Dib stopped as the monitor flashed through images found on Google tagged with the said word.
"Contentment; gratification. Peace. Pleasure.

Projects make Dib hungry. Oh! Look! A butterfly!
Dib sat on the nearest chair as Gir handed him an ice pack in which he put over his newest forehead bruise.
"We didn't get anything done." He finally said with a bit of anger.
"Then you will have to do better tomorrow." Zim replied standing tall with his arms crossed.
"What?! Don't expect me to do all of this by myself. We're down two partners as it is."
"Fine. Let's continue." Zim rested one elbow in his hand as the other reached to hold his green head.
"It's 1 a.m. Can't we pick it up in the morning?"
"FINE!" Fed up with Dib's complaining he walked over to a circle in the floor that quickly removed him to another underground space.
Dib laid on his back. One arm above his head and the other with his hand resting on his chest. His eyes were heavy and his breathing slow.
'Why did he blush?' He thought to himself.

Zim woke up the next morning seeing nothing but empty sheets beside him. He sad up quickly and worried until his lover walked into the room.
"Mornin' hun." He said jumping onto the bed. "What do you want to do today?"
Zim thought for a sec.
"DESTROY!" he replied clenching his fists and smiling evily.
"Hah. OR! We can...... uh.... I have jello!"
Dib tossed his shirt and some boxers for Zim to wear, and they rushed down stairs.
Gaz was sitting at the table enjoying a bowl of vampy-o's. She glanced at Zim and began to choke, falling to the floor.
"Uhm.. Gaz? Are you doing ok there?" Dib was unsure if his kindness would go unpunished. He kept his guard up incase the bowl were to come flying at him.
She stood up and pointed at Dib, then paused, grabbed her cereal, and relocated.

"I hate you," Zim says sitting opposite of him.
"Yes, Zim. The feelings mutual. Now let's get this over with. We've already finished how depression and stress can affect the body."
Zim stared blankly.
Dib sighed heavily, trying to keep himself from becoming frustrated.
Keef runs back in with a plate of cookies.
"I'll go over it with you later."
Keef puts the plate down beside Zim.

Zim crossed him arms, looking pleased. "Go on."

It was a typical day in the small city of (insert city name here), every human had a life to life and they were living it the way they did.
"ZIM! It's YOUR turn to work the cash register! Get over here!" called Zim's boss. Zim groaned as he was bowling fries into hot grease; it splatting at his fine skin, making him wince every time a bubble popped.
"C-coming!" Zim shouted, dropping the fries as someone else took over the bubbly grease job. Zim was now about 20 years old and working at Mcmeaty's. He was tall and looked more like a 16 year old geek teen than a man. He was hunched over, lanky, out of place and most of all...working at a fast food place, which he hated.

I was having that day a week ago. I was sitting on an old wood bench perched on a small hill outside the school during lunch. I was eating a sandwich, alone of course, until I heard someone coming from behind. I ignored them in fear of making eye contact with a face I didn't want to see at the moment.
Then I saw the person go around me and sit on the bench across from me.
It was Zim.
He too had a lunch and he dropped the brown paper bag onto the table and sat down.
I had the biggest urge to cry but I supressed it. What I didn't do was shut my mouth.
"I'm so alone." I said to the wood table.
Zim nodded. "Zim is too." he said. Zim sounded far less depressed than I did.
"No one loves me " I choked.
I saw Zim look up at my down casted face. I didn't know what was going on inside my head or Zim's.

"How has life been for you since you've moved away? Still in touch with your sister and parent unit?" Zim asked, wanting to get caught up with Dib.
The question threw the human off a bit, he didn't know Zim would really care about that but the black haired boy tried to answer as best as he could.

Zim had left work around 5. He didn't take the alleyways; not wanting to get in a fight, killed, or raped, because now he had something to look forward to in life.
Once Zim got to his apartment, he walked in, unsure of what to do next. Once he walked into his house, he smelled...Hamburgers? Once Zim had smelled himself, he realized it was him. He smelled of work.
Zim didn't want to smell like work when he went out with Dib. But why should it matter? They are friends, just hanging out normally...no reason to get fancy. However, Zim had the need to look his best; but why? It bugged the alien a bit.
Zim shook it off and took a quick shower. Because it was a human shower and it used water, he had to cover his body in paste before going in. His soap also had paste in it. Surprisingly, it left Zim's very clean and soft after.
Zim got dressed in a tight dark purple V-neck shirt and black skinny jeans with red converse. This was Zim's normal wear, but at least he looked well enough for Dib. Ho

"Hope you didn't mind me laying all over you...it's just me trying to get in your pants. I wasn't scared." Zim joked with his goofy and overly joyful smile.
Dib blushed madly, shifting his weight nervously. He knew it was a joke but for him, it was something he kind of wanted, despite his fear of intimacy. It was different with Zim yet it was so foreign wanting someone so bad.
Zim saw Dib get a bit nervous, shifting on his feet and blushing. The alien sighed and dropped his arms. "Ya know Dib, if my flirting makes you feel uncomfortable, Zim can stop." Zim said, reassuringly.

On nice days, we would go out to eat at fast food places and I would gorge on whatever I bought while Zim just watched in pure disgust. Dib nodded his head at the idea and stretched his body around to find corners. The human relized that the giant cluster of humans was caused by the mini bar up ahead, at the edn to this hall.

Where it all started
Rubbing at his tired eyes, Dib took a moment to collect himself. It was late, way into the early morning hours, but this needed to be done before the chemical reaction was over. He pushed his large glasses back up his forehead and leant over the glaringly pink microscope again. What he saw made his heart beat faster in excitement. The light yellow nanomachines beneath the thin glass worked fast, removing the faulty bases from the sample's DNA while leaving the natural structures intact. A small smile formed on his lips after a few minutes, the sample almost completely sanitized and the tiny nanomachines still working wonderfully.
But it didn't last. As soon as the faulty DNA had been perfectly removed, the leftover structures began to disintegrate, being taken apart by those wretched, little machines.
Jerking back with a frustrated yell, the boy barely had enough self-restraint to not throw his glasses, and with them a few pieces of lab equipment, to the ground in

"Zim?" he called quietly, not wanting to come too close when the smaller male was still upset.
For a long moment, Dib was only met with silence.
Zim stayed where he was, unmoving, keeping his stare glued to the lazily blinking screen.
Just when the boy came to the conclusion that Zim didn't want to talk to him, after all, and that leaving him alone was a good idea, the alien gave a little huff and turned to face him.
“What is it?”
Zim was still tense, Dib could tell, seemingly willing to listen but still bothered by all of this. It glared from the dissatisfied expression in those smooth, green features, a frown pulling at his lips. Dib hesitated, unable to find the right words to say, no matter how much he tried.
“I... about this... I wanted...” He cleared his throat, struggling with the returning embarrassment that quickly colored his pale cheeks. “I didn't mean to upset you. Really, I didn't. If I went too far, I apologize.” Not that Dib really...

Just as Zim had dreaded, Dib's fit lasted well over two hours, which the boy spent curled into a tight little ball on the floor, clutching at his head and occasionally giving a few muffled sobs.
And the entire time, the alien sat with him, watching that he kept breathing and that he wouldn't end up having spasms and injuring himself. It rarely happened, but Zim knew it was probably best to be on the safe side.
At least, Dib wouldn't remember any of this. Once he woke, he would be tired, confused and sometimes, understandably, frightened. That, however, could usually be fixed with a good night's sleep and some distraction.
Of his attacks or whatever happened during them, Dib never had any memories.
And it probably was best that way.
At long last, the boy stirred, a muffled whimper on his lips as he uncurled and rolled over onto his back. Unsteady hands rubbed at his eyes as Dib blinked and tried to get his eyes to focus.
“Finally awake, Dib-thing?”
Zim's voice was low

Setting up the lab was done very quickly and after barely a few hours, it was good to go and able to accommodate two or more 'guests'.
They had modified one of the already existing cells – or was 'cage' a more appropriate name for it? - to be secure even from an Irken's abilities. Despite Zim's claims that Skoodge was a rather useless specimen of his species, they figured it was better to be safe than sorry.
There was no need to bother much with higher security or strengthening the restrains for a human. No human being would be able to break out of the highly advanced Irken technology. Leave some damage? Maybe. But not enough to bother with.
An Irken invader, however, no matter how incompetent, would have the equipment to break out of a simple cell. So in order to prevent that, there were some upgrades needed. Dib had his doubts that the minor alterations Zim made to the cell's programming and the odd little device he had placed just outside of it would suffice, but the seriousne
