Matte Painting/Cyclorama done in school for my short film project.
Done with photoshop with almost no photo reference, apart from the clouds.
It was created in order to be animated with a compositing software

Prototype -

The Resistance of city 3b4a managed to find, using a forgotten inventory from the now defunct ministry of aeronautics, the location of a prototype postal ship that could be used over the solar colonies. Left forgotten since the eruption of civil war on Titan, the resistance colonists set about fixing up this forgotten ship to finally escape the oppressive regime.

Oxspindle is an academic city powered by a huge golem ox, a centre of academic excellence. Itís built on the back of a giant golem kudu, that constantly winds a shaft, powering the city almost endlessly. Itís main exports are education and knowledge.

The airships travel with the belongings slung underneath, pulled up when they are needed, this spares a lot of room once in flight. You can keep your bath and table tennis table out the way, might hit a few pigeons though.

An concept of a s-f city, one from the series of environments I made some time ago (more to come :). Done in Photoshop over a couple of days, using simple matte painting techniques and some custom brushes (mostly for clouds). Hope you like it.

TX-4 mini-series: Docking procedure

The research base looks like a cross between mining facility and oil rig. The mountain it rests upon is riddled with man-made corridors, through which the samples and machinery are moved. Flying drones inspect any suspicious surface activity and check the integrity of the whole structure. Due to the unknown nature of the artifact and the planet's original climate, the staff rarely goes outside. Docking station, among other things, is entirely automatized.

Concept prepared for a new e-zine about sci-fi art. When the first issue is out (next month), I'll provide the link.

Battle mech "Hammerdown" driven by Lich. Not exactly a pleasant combination. Avoid at all costs. In the event of meeting - destroy immediately, for example with 60mm 'Firestorm' machine gun from elevated position. It case of getting noticed... oh, well.

Vue 6 render with some photoshop post work. This was the largest render I have made in Vue. 4000 x 1449. It took a few days to render but I think it came out ok. I am studing latest version of 3ds max 2009. Does anyone know any good sites for tutorials?

This was rendered with Vue 8 and CS4. I took about 8 hrs to make the obejects and textures in Vue. over 89 hours to Render. Then 2 hrs post work in CS4. Hope you enjoy it. Please Fav.

Another design in my "flying vehicles" series.

This one was a bit different in that it is a "plane" instead of some kind of star fighter. I pretty much went to town on this thing.

A few notes:

Overview of Process: 3D rough Sketch>PS Line Drawing> PS Lighting Pass> PS texture and painting> PS post levels and other adjustments/tweaks.

I didn't render out the gun that much because i felt it wasn't that important to the overall design. Its there so you know its there.

I put "stealth" serration edged exhaust ports... because the just look really cool. This is not really a stealth fighter.

The decals were grabbed from an old model kit sheet, they don't have meaning other then what fits in context.

Concept done over 3D rough I did in Maya. Keep in mind when i say "rough" i mean smashing polygons together to get the overall shape and form, everything else was painted in.
