Kaltes, your thing is specializing in monster fights and the heavy use of horror movie villains (Gamera vs. Destroyah, Jason vs. Wolfman). Or, you go anthro (Shere Kahn vs. Zera). Sometimes, both (Nightmare Rarity vs. Freddy Krueger). You're our horror movie furry specialist. That's a hell of a niche.
Cyberagent, you work with some pretty out there and obscure combatants, like having Hank J. Wimbleton vs. Flippy from Happy Tree Friends.
Personally, I like including a bit of a contexualizing prologue and making sure all characters are as true to their canon characterization as much as possible.
Haku, you mainly specialize in using fighters from various anime, half of which I've never watched.
Ray is the foundation of the group, the template we've all started our work on. Fighting wise, he likes to use characters that share as many differences as they do similarities (Lizard vs

Joseph is a different animal compared to his grandfather. Sure, on the outset, he's just as physically built. The man is strong enough to box an army of normal vampires while lacking any Ripple whatsoever. However, he lacks the raw Ripple force Jonathan had in spades.
That said, what he lacks in raw power he compensates with sheer, unbridled creativity and mad genius. His application of the Ripple is virtually limited only by his imagination. Where Jonathan would be content to hack or smash, Joseph will set up an intricate series of traps, use your own weapons against you, or otherwise find imaginative ways to ruin your day.
It's this mentality that has led him to defeat all four of the Pillar Men, the ancient progenitors of the vampires. Even Santana, the weakest, was leagues above Dio in power. They made a pre-Stan

This really is turning into one of my all time favourite anime. As for manga... well, I've heard mixed things about all the other arcs following this one. But then, the entire fandom seems to be split into multiple camps over which of the lot was the best, the worst, average, etc.
Granted, the fourth arc apparently served as one of the main inspirations for Persona 4... which, you'll recall, is my favourite game of all time. So, hey, I'll give it a read. Not sure about the one starring Dio's kid, heard it's a solid contender for the most boring and least interesting of the franchise... and the kid is evidently as compelling as whitebread.
But the story arc with the horse race across America? Now that sounds fun.
JoJo, Why You So Fabulous? This show/manga... is easily the most flamboyant, campy, metrosexual and manly anime I have ever seen. It's the only show where its male characters can dress like a neon gay pride parade... and still come off as pinnacles of masculinity. Yes, I have to yet again live with the fact that another beloved relative has Alzheimer's. It's granddad all over again.
I was tempted to not go to work today and spend my day brooding and sulking...
The keyword: was.
This morning, I woke up early from a miserable rest. My disposition sour, with still a few hours before work, I sat down on my couch, had my laptop and PS3 turned on simultaneously, and looked around for what game to play. I didn't have the patience to continue Pokémon Silver, Tales of Symphonia or Final Fantasy X. I wasn't in the mood to lose myself in Minecraft, Skyrim or Fallout 3. I wasn't even particularly inclined for a violent free for all.
I didn't even want to play my beloved Persona 4.
But I was still in a mood for a game. I still wanted to lose myself in some kind of escapism.

About my TMNT rantGot a long journal head of you. I tried to break it up a bit so you can skim parts.About my TMNT rant in Personal More Like This
It appears some people were a little less than happy with the idea that I’m not going to see the new TMNT movie, yet have already formed a negative opinion about it. Some people, who don’t understand what the word means, are calling this “hypocritical” since I often ask that people try to see both sides of an issue, so taking a definitive stance here with (what appears to be to them) incomplete data is wrongheaded of me. So now I gotta write this journal to explain my actions better. Hope you’re happy ‘bout that...
It’s just a movie! Why does it matter?
Because it’s not JUST a movie. Movies do not exist in a vacuum. How well (or bad) a movie does informs YEARS of upcoming movies and careers. Thousands of people’s jobs are dictated on the whim of what the box office rankings are for opening weekend. A now famous example is Guillermo
Not ALL BlankI started seeing the “not all ___” retort when it came to feminism. The response was “not ALL men,” usually as an argument to derail any discussion about how badly women are generally treated by the male gender. Since then, the phrase has started to apply to pretty much ANY sub culture/group. “Not ALL Bronies,” “Not ALL gamers,” “Not ALL comic artists” etc, etc. And most recently I saw it when I stated that I didn’t like 4chan because of how vile and vitriolic the website generally is. “Not ALL 4channers” is the gist of the argument. And I think this nonsense needs to stop. Not ALL Blank in Personal More Like This
OF COURSE we know that “not all ____” is true. I don’t know anyone who actually believes that ALL men, ALL gamers, ALL 4channers, ALL bronies, etc are evil or bad. I should’ve updated my last journal right away when I found out that Aonuma was just trolling with the whole “was that really Link or not?” comment... On one side I’ve been getting inundated with people pointing out how “wrong” I was in the journal (despite the journal clearly coming out BEFORE he clarified his statement), and on the other side maintaining the concept that maybe it wasn’t Link has kept some fans a little TOO hopeful for the idea of a female Link or even that maybe it was him and Zelda’s daughter.
Sorry guys, but that actually WAS Link. I’m pretty disappointed in that, honestly, but I gotta try to be positive and not let this one set back discourage me. On the bright side so many people were “trending” about how much they’d love to see a female Link, that I think Nintendo finally took notice and realized it’s not just a deviant fan fantasy.
Educating OurselvesThis journal contains a lot of potentially buzz-work things that could result in arguments from people who don't take the time to read my message. For example I mention Anita Sarkeesian, but I don't want people to start arguing against her points of view because that's NOT what this journal is about. So please, read carefully before you respond to help avoid knee-jerk reactions since that's exactly what this journal is about trying to AVOID.Educating Ourselves in Personal More Like This
Over the years I’ve had a pretty straightforward view on gun control. Guns are dangerous and need to be restricted and made more inaccessible to prevent future acts of gun violence. I’ve never genuinely believed in the idea of banning all guns because I do think people DO need to have ways to protect themselves.
However, I’ve recently been thinking more about a different aspect to the gun control debate and it’s broader implications to other troublesome politically charged areas of our (United States) cult

After doing a series of comics standing up for women's rights, there's a lot of really negative rumors going on around me right now. Most of which point to the hypocrisy that I use to draw fetish artwork and that recently I made pin-ups that were "sexy" in nature. Because, of course, if you're an artist who stands up for women's rights from that moment on you're not allowed to EVER draw women in a way that might be construed as potentially "sexy," lest you be labeled a hypocrite.
As I've mentioned before in previous journals, I really can't stand this mentality the internet has of polarizing extremes. You've always gotta be in one extreme or you're in the other. There's never the possibility that you could be in the middle like, you know, a normal person would be.
I understand why that is: it's easier to point out fallacies and bitch and whine about people when they fit into nice neat black and white spec
Ideals vs CharactersI am always amazed at what ends up being “controversial” in my artwork. While with some works I KNOW it’s going to be controversial (such as any time I bring up politics or religion), there are often a lot of times where I just make a gag strip and think nothing of it... only to come back the next day and see people writing up ESSAYS on why it’s the worse thing ever.Ideals vs Characters in Personal More Like This
Granted, I have the undesirable position of having a lot of people following me who insist on inserting drama where no drama really exists. So part of that is just the fact that I’m semi-famous on the internet. And still... It just baffles me how quickly people feel the need to see the worse in everything.
Right now, the past couple of NSYAC strips featuring Emily and Jade have gotten some... interesting responses. There seems to be this strange perception that Emily MUST conform to some arbitrary standard of a righteous educational achiever simply for the fact that she’s going to colleg

The Gay Marriage ConversationNot so long ago, I was most certainly anti-gay marriage. However, sometime in 2012, I was beginning to identify more as Libertarian than Republican (long story, boils down to what Reagan said, "I didn't leave my party, my party left me"). With that came the inclusion of the idea that if people do something that doesn't affect anyone else's rights was not really my business to interfere with. That included gay couples. I don't entirely condone that, but neither do I condemn it because I feel that what two consenting adults do in the bedroom is really between three people: the couple and God. It's not of my concern if they agree to it and if they're legal. What happens in the bedroom stays in the bedroom as far as I'm concerned. With that mindset, I decided to take a step back and look at the entire concept that I was involved with. I saw a few things...The Gay Marriage Conversation in Personal More Like This

Because, in the Death Battle community (which I'm affiliated with, albeit loosely), he proved time and time again to be a nuisance to say the least and a whiny, overemotional brat to say the most. Needless to say, his defenses were weak and he resorted to "trolling" and using what I believe to be a sock puppet account to insult people...BADLY (seriously, an entire language of insults and he just drops the F-bomb? I'm disappointed). But, I'd be lying if I said that ripping him to pieces wasn't fun.
To close, I'll just use this like Shakespeare wrote for Macbeth to sum up the quality of his Death Battles:
"Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."

It's pretty much OTD in Depression-era America. Steel forms his own Mafia gang and competes with others for turf, profit, and prestige while trying to keep it secret from his cop brother, Sarge Ray. His gang includes Tony Frankson (a knife-fighter with a killer singing voice), Xem (the alien who happens to be a good engineer), Bindi (a mutant skunk who Steel owes a lot to), Stephano (a hitman with a rap sheet a mile long), Gerald (a porn-writer who's also the group's lawyer), Kuro (a Japanese immigrant who's Steel's right-hand man), and Kyubey (a cat thing who's there because he terrifies Steel). With the help of his group of ragtag associates, Steel forms a bootlegging empire to match Al Capone's.

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent events in Syria and have therefore raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved." Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross." The English have not been "A Bit Cross" since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies nearly ran out. Terrorists have been re-categorized from "Tiresome" to "A Bloody Nuisance." The last time the British issued a "Bloody Nuisance" warning level was in 1588, when threatened by the Spanish Armada.
The Scots have raised their threat level from "Pissed Off" to "Let's get the Bastards." They don't have any other levels. This is the reason they have been used on the front line of the British army for the last 300 years.
The French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from "Run" to "Hide." The only two higher levels in France are "Collaborate" and "Surrender." The rise

The Site of GygesA while back, I was chatting with some of my friends in the DB community in our usual, nonlinear discussions. Lady-n-Gentlemen brought up a story about a man who seemed normal, but was sending messages on 4chan that were rather...well, nasty. When his pregnant wife found out, she divorced as quickly as possible. We then began discussing why people do it with me saying that anonymity can inherently cause people to do wrong, remembering one picture I saw on Facebook that showed the difference between Christians and Atheists in real life vs. Christians and Atheists on the Internet (a split-screen between two scenes from Return of the King: one with Smeagol and Deagol on the boat, happily fishing with each other while the other had the two at each others' throats). However, I've had a change of heart, thanks to this 8-Bit Philosophy (a webshow that combines philosophy with classic gaming). I believe that Minecraft is the future of massive multiplayer games, and I'm surprised that none of the big developers/publishers have cottoned onto it yet.
They look at Minecraft and think its success is down to its business model, or to its blocky, retro charm.
It's down to the fact that you get out of it what you put into it.
With a MMORPG, there are pre-scripted quests. With Minecraft, you set the quests yourself or others.
User created content is the key. All you have to do is provide the players with the tools to build.
There are two types of gamer: wall builders and wall breakers.
Wall builders are the ones that spend an age in an RTS game getting their base just right. They play SimCity and act as Dungeon Master during an RPG.
Wall breakers are the type to follow the mission brief. They get set a quest and they follow it. They're the Call of Duty crowd and they're never more happy than when

Guys are fascinated by them.
Through single-digit ages, they find the very concept of them hilarious, and when puberty kicks in the mere thought of lady-lumps generally causes some movement in the trouser department. These weak-willed creatures will follow them anywhere and they will do almost anything if it means simply being permitted to gaze upon them for a few moments more.
The entertainment industries, from the big movie makers to the lowly art whores (like me) know this, and have played upon it for years in order to separate males from their money. As a result, mass media is awash with the female form in all manner of provocative poses and dress.
Many women are fed up with this, but is the whole thing “sexist”?
Well, it’s impossible and indeed wrong to say a whole industry is one thing or another. Ultimately it’s all one, big, dumb organism that simply moves with the cultural winds. It perpetuates what sustains it. It’s only when you break it
Tracing and EmulationAfter reading through the comments in my previous journal, I feel the need to clarify a couple of things.Tracing and Emulation in Personal More Like This
First: Tracing. Does. Not. Help. You. Improve. Your. Art.
Never has, never will and you’re kidding yourself if you think otherwise.
Second: Emulation is not tracing. People seem to be having trouble telling the difference.
Tracing does not teach you anything because all you’re doing is copying the line work of an existing image. All the real work has already been done. You’re not learning how the image is constructed or discovering for yourself how to use your drawing tools to create the desired effect. You’d be better off just outright copy/pasting the base image and saving yourself the time.
Emulation on the other hand, be it simply trying to recreate an existing image by eye or (even better) going all out and trying to adopt an existing style, does improve your method. By “reverse engineering&

There have been a few news articles to stoke my irritation over the last couple of months. Personally, I think all this crap is side-stepping the issue of diversity rather than addressing it. If the likes of Marvel were really serious about it, they’d invest time and capital creating new heroes who are a different gender/race from the get-go. Building up a new mythology for a female or black character would be so much str

I spent ages getting the linework just right, I was so careful, and when I peeled the page from the static cling of the bulbous, cathode ray tube screen, the character looked exactly right on the page. By the time of the battle's start, Magneto would have gone off of his own, away from the X-Men. And I still hold it on a higher pedestal than other favourites of mine, ranging from Berserk to JoJo's Bizarre Adventure to even my DEFINITIVE childhood anime Yu-Gi-Oh! and Dragon Ball/Z. The silvery moonlight reflected off of his radiant jacket of luminous gold, an eerily relaxed and serene expression on his face, as he suddenly grounded to a halt to stare up.
