About : This was SUCH a blast to work on!  I love classic cartoons and the Coyote was always one of my favorites as a kid (probably second only to Taz).

Since this was a pretty new style for me, I took a lot of progress photos along the way, overlaying the concept art in Photoshop to make corrections as needed.  I have a pretty cool progress compilation to share later on as a result.

The main structure is largely made of Apoxie Sculpt, for stability.  The hands and head are my Sculpey Firm/Super Sculpey mix.

Materials : Apoxie Sculpt, Sculpey Firm, Super Sculpey, Wire Armature, Wood Base, Cel Vinyl Paints

Dimensions : 6.25" Tall on a 5x7" Base

Here is the latest sculpture I did for the original line of sculptures 'Court of the Dead' from Sideshow collectibles. She stands around 23" tall. Painted by the very talented Kat Sapene. She'll be available for pre-order around May sometime from Sideshow.

New sketch I did after watching a show on the mythology of Zeus where at one point it mentioned these creatures called the hundred handers who helped the Olympian gods overthrow the titans. Gave me inspiration to do this.

You may remember the Sigma 6 scale Fallout 3 Power Suit I did last year. Here's the 6" scale version that fits in with your Marvel Legends. It was made from an Iron Man Movie Titanium Man figure with Cannonball gloves and Apoxie Sculpt sculpted head, chest, and leg sections. Other additions were lots of wire and tubing seamed along the suit and shoulderpads made from fodder parts. The gun came from a Super Patriot arm and the base from from a Dirty Pair figure I believe. You can see how I painted the figure step-by-step in my Guides and Tutorials page too. There's quie a few steps invloved in a paint job like this!

Aiiiiie, it's the flood! This Flood infected UNSC Marine in Combat form is actually a character in the Halo 3 video game. He was created from the 5" New Goblin figure with Fixit Sculpted armor sections and flood form. The large left arm was a combination of a TF Quintesson arm and the wing-claws from some DuelMaster unded lion. The slumped over human head came from a football figure of some sort. Everything else was sculpted, which of course drove me crazy. It took at least 9 hours to sculpt the flood parts, armor sections, and make it all come together layer by layer. You may think it's nifty but I never want to see this thing again, I pretty much shun any custom I had to spend more than an hour sculpting, bleh. Props to the professional sculptors out there who make our action figures, I dunno how you guys do it.

Machine Head's beserk feature added. In total it's made from something of every toy line I had on hand. There's something from Transformers, Batman, GI Joe, Halo, Marvel Legends, Hellboy, Star Wars, the list goes on. This is a prime example of customizing by using existing parts without sculpting from scratch.

This morning I was born in a yurt at the edge of a horse-plain in a land of a planet which no longer exists. Tomorrow I will be born someone else in another place. I have not yet chosen. This morning, though - ahhh, this life! When my eyes had learned to focus, I looked out at sunshine on trampled grass and I saw vigorous people going about the sweet activities of their lives. Where... oh where has all of that vigor gone?

First of two drawings in which the characters are, alternately, Sirius A and Sirius B (Sirius is a binary system)
Sirius B was the more massive but collapsed into a white dwarf after shredding its outer layer.
This captures the moment before the collapse.

One of two custom dice dragons. This one is similar to my gold dice dragon, just different colors. For some reason blue clay becomes super vibrant when glazed. Is it weird that I get excited to glaze blue stuff...?

Thought it's be kinda neat to show you guys how Magmax was built! I meant to take more progression photos but kinda forgot to along the way. I was pretty absorbed in this guy. But you can see the building process a bit at least. He took a LOT of planning. I had to make sure he didn't start out too bulky, or his plating would turn him fat by the end! His armature is probably the strongest I've ever made. Making standing dragons without a base definitely is a lot more work. Gotta get them all balanced, and keep them standing solidly after baking. No one wants a wobbly dragon!

The entire body started out yellow actually, and then I made long thin skinner blends from red to yellow and blended the yellow edge into the existing color. Skinner blends are kind of a pain in the butt, and take a lot of practice to get right, but I think I'm getting the hang of them. I actually messed up several times trying to get these just right, but once I finally did it, it was worth the frustration. :XD:

The plating took hoooours. I think I was plating dragons in my dreams for a solid week while I was making him. The lava rock texture was achieved using an old toothbrush, and then going back and making tiny divets in varying sizes and depths with a couple small ball tools. Very painstaking, but the effect is awesome! I actually experimented with salt at first, as I'd read it could be used to make lava rock beads. It worked pretty well, but was super messy, difficult to place on such small plates, and hard to dissolve afterwards, so I decided making my own divets by hand was better.

It got a bit hard to keep track after while, but I estimate he took around 40+ hours to complete. O_o

Magmax is currently up for auction on Ebay for anyone interested. The auction ends Sunday evening (Oct. 6th)

My sister and I built a snow dragon in my parent's backyard over Christmas vacation. You are never too old to play in the snow :XD:

I would have liked his horns to be longer, but my time was short, so I made due with half size horns. We wanted to put icicles all down his back, but wouldn't you know it, all the houses in the area were ridiculously well insulated so there were practically none! We found just a few and used them for his little ear spike thingies.

My dad had the brilliant idea to use food coloring in a spraybottle for the blue accent. It wasn't the most accurate of application processes (the sprayer kept freezing up lol) but it worked. Kinda gave him a speckle-y look :)

Snow sculpting is fun! If I'd had more time, I could have made him truly magnificent. I guess there is always next year! :D
