After you got me hauled up in front of the class like that? What do you think?
I said I was sorry. Then again, I didn’t think you would have gotten caught either…
I can’t believe he made me discuss that with him.
I can’t believe he actually gave you extra credit for doing such a good job.
I still blame you. If you would have just waited until that class was over everything would have been fine.
So around sixish then? I’ll leave the door unlocked.
…Yeah… I’ll see ya then.
I stood in front of his door, knowing that I could just walk in whenever I felt like it but for some reason unable to at the moment as I just stared at the wood in front of me, nervously shuffling my feet. I could still count the number of times that I had been here without using my toes, knowing that if I knocked that he would just usher me in like he always did, but I couldn’t help it
Introducing Mason pt. 4I knocked on the door again, louder than any other time I had before as I finally heard him groan from the other side. I’d been standing outside of his door for almost ten minutes now, the time split between nervously standing outside and telling myself what a terrible idea this was and yelling at myself not to be a bitch.Introducing Mason pt. 4 in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
“God, will you fucking stop!? I’m coming!” I heard, feeling a little relieved that he was finally responding. There were footsteps, then the soft rattling of him fiddling with the locks on the other side of the door, muttering to himself the whole time about, “The fuck is so god damn important that they had to wake me up at a time like this?” before the door finally opened.
“What the hell is the prob-” he started, stopping as he saw just who it was that was standing on the other side of his door.
I had definitely woken him, and he was definitely not a morning person by the looks of it. Why else would he be answering his

I looked up, meaning to answer when I felt the little fish shaped treat disappear from my fingers, looking back to see Villain eating the snatched prize before running off.
"I was trying to teach him some tricks, but he seems to be rather reluctant," I said.
"That's because he's a cat, now come here and help me with these," he said, holding a stack of boxes in his arms.
I got up from the floor, abandoning trying to get that cat to listen for the moment to take some of the boxes before he dropped them. Glancing at the shipping address and immediately recognizing it as my paint suppli

It wasn't that it was a boring topic; in fact one of my favorite things about the class was listening to my eccentric teacher preach his words about the magic bullet. I'm almost completely sure he was a hippy in the sixties anyway. What made the class boring today was that even though he was practically jumping up and down in excitement as he argued heatedly with a student was that it was going so slow. The entire day had been dragging in fact and for one reason.
He was in this class. One of the very few times at school that we saw each other was right here in this room. I could even see him from my seat next to the window if I turned my head ever so slightly, his grey eyes heavy and his chin in his palm as he looked down at the sketchbook on the desk in front of him. Sometimes he'd be drawing, or tapping the pen

Nudging the door to his office open with my foot I was greeted with nothing but a soft mechanical glow. His three computer monitors sat empty, casting their glow over his empty chair and perfectly organized desk. The computers each sported a different wallpaper from his favorite video games; Portal on one, Left for Dead on another, and the last showing a creepy picture of Bioshock's Big Daddy.

And maybe you'd like to return to that sleep, but the thunder keeps you awake. Other times you get up to participate in the beautiful storm but you are not lightning. You shy away from loud, extravagant voices, not because you don't like people, just because you're not sure how to respond in a similar way that would really incorporate you. Your answers are often gentle smiles and polite nods; you don't like the attention. When two people look at you expecting an answer, your mind processes and percieves something so different that it feels like you're standing center stage under the luminescent lights and unable to utter a sound. So you stray away from large groups, not because you pity yourself or you hate the people talking; moreso because returning to quiet sleep sometimes feels better than the storm.

Although Jim's sleep hadn't been very fulfilling he had managed to doze off a bit here and there and it was only when the dawn came did he really fall into a deep sleep which was interrupted only a few minutes later by Mr. Snuff's farting tentacles in the bunk above him.
Jim groaned and kicked at the flesh before successfully managing to fall out of bed. He hit the wooden floor with a loud thump and rubbed his face as he sat up and spotted light trickling through the grates in the ceiling. Jim figured they were passing by a distant planet's sun. He pulled off his jacket to allow himself to cool off. His mind immediately wandered to Alice and he instinctively looked at her bunk, as he had done so many other mornings, only to find that it was empty. His face fell but lifted when he thought about the kiss she'd given him the night before. Jim couldn't keep the grin off his face as he reached for his boot just in time to see it hop out of his re

It was a peaceful evening on Crescentia, one of the galaxy's finest spaceports. Citizens bustled about, closing up shops and preparing to spend a nice night wrapped up in their beds. Upon the morrow they'd set off into the galaxy to discover new worlds, or make friends with old ones. Life on Montressor and its spaceport had changed very little during the past five months in space.
The sky was a mixture of Etherium azure and cloudy roseate blanketing the surrounding stars as the Montressians prepared for a warm summer's eve. The peacefulness of the area was only mildly disrupted by a few late ferries or cargo ships taking off along with mantabirds flying about, trying to locate a late night snack.
No one expected such a disturbance so late in the evening, nor did they expect such a cataclysmic show. Those that were still awake and about at the hour thought they were experiencing a pirate raid far off in the distance, but from the emerald flash thi

While Amelia told Delbert how to dock the ship properly, Alice and the others were ordered to continue cleaning up anything that wasn't too heavy.
"Great, we're finally back to Crescentia, and we still have to swab the deck," Jim huffed. Alice laughed, dunking her mop in her bucket.
"Come on, Jim, it would've made Silver proud." Jim smiled, reminiscing on his first job on the ship.
"So long as we don't get into any fights," he shot back.
"Oh, I don't think that's likely."
Once the ship was safely anchored to the spaceport, Amelia called for the authorities to take away the "pirate scum" in her brig while the spaceport robots set to wor

My nights have been so haunted with the recurrence of this dream.
I always hope that I'll wake up and this dream will become true,
But I'm so tired of only dreaming...

“This is who you really are.”
A grittier, angrier version of Solus’ own voice echoed in the darkness. However, Solus was aware that he was asleep. He knew what he was hearing and seeing wasn’t real. He just couldn’t seem to wake up.
“This is just a dream,” He kept repeating to himself, ignoring the images that flashed around him. One depicted Solus at a young age, before the tragedy that killed his family. The next instant, an image of a young Solus on his knees appeared, tears streaming down his face as he looked on at the blaze that engulfed his home.
The disembodied voice suddenly grew angry and spat out the words as though they left a bad taste in its mouth, “Why weren’t you at home when the fire started, Solus?”
“This is just a dream,” He repeated to himself, more desperately and gritting his teeth. The voice had no particular source still, as far as he could tell. Solus looked around. The images had changed.

Atop the crest of a gentle hill he stood, sword plunged deep into the earth. He couldn’t help but admire the slowly descending sun, which so precisely rose up each day with promise of warmth and light. It was a sure thing that one could depend on to be true and to happen consistently. For if the sun were to simply cease to rise, life would then simply cease to exist. He shut his eyes for a bit longer than a standard blink, thoughts encasing his mind in much the same way ordinary rock may conceal a diamond. He ripped up his blade and slung it across his back, making way to depart and set forth on yet another path on the perilous journey he knew lay ahead, beckoning him onward. His struggle for a place in this world left him with no time for long goodbyes. Behind him, the small lights of Underveil disappeared into the night. He walked diligently and silently, accompanied by only the fading light of the sun and the emptiness he carried with him. The sound of waves gently lapping the

It was an ordinary Sunday afternoon (in truth all Sunday afternoons are ordinary - Sundays are boring). The last day of normalcy to ever grace the island of Manhattan. Children played, mothers shopped, teenagers crammed for tests, a boy from Brooklyn made a date with his girlfriend in Manhattan. In fact the entire day was ordinary. It was only when the afternoon's light faded, and night set in, that things became strange.
That was the night the fog came.
No one really remembered when it had arrived. Could tell what moment divided when the fog was from when it was not. No one was awake that night to witness it's arrival - at least, no one who was still alive. The next day was Monday(of course). If Sundays are boring, then Mondays are malicious. This Monday would be no different. And the city slept on, oblivious.
It was the noise that woke Sam. Usually his quiet street in Brooklyn would be silent at this hour. But not that Monday. Blearily he staggered over to hi

Except for one. A young girl dressed as an angel stood by the window. Gazing out at the grounds below as if she meant to bring her white wings to life and fly away. She didn't want to be here. She stared at him, heart pounding, and the first thought that entered her mind was that he was smooth. His face expressionless. But no it was more than that. He was blank.
