DRAGON CASTLE by randis
According to the Chinese zodiac, 2012 has ushered in the year of the dragon upon the world stage.
In addition to occupying an ages old position in our cultural consciousness, legend and folklore surrounding
the dragon mythology has long been firing the kiln of our dreams with fright and menace. When we are speaking of

Collage is one of those art forms that immediately sets off heated debate about our most fundamental ideas and visceral feelings about the very essence of art itself.
Turn of the century troublemakers Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso began enhancing their paintings with glued on bits of cut out fabric and other materials, thus neatly blurring the line between the art categories of painting and sculpture. They shifted the emphasis or “meaning” of their painted images beyond an attempted interpretation of the painted “text” to thinking about the artists’ “process” – something wholly separate from the paintings themselves.
And with that a whole new Rubic’s Cube of basic questio

Artists have always feared that they are unappreciated and that the march of progress comes only from business, science and their machines. 1984 was imagined by an artist projecting these exact fears. The vibrant digital paintings of alicexz are fiery, emotional, and incredibly memorable.
The colors of her creations (mostly portraits of popular TV and Film characters) are unusually vibrant, which is remarkable considering how layered they appear to be. It’s sort of like what manga characters might look like if painted by one of the Dutch Masters. And this artist exhibits just the right amount of quirkiness to leave us wanting to know more: she has a penchant for painting redheads. But, then of course, there’s a lot of red and golden fire burning through most her artworks.

Pseutro 1.1.0 Is Gonna Be AwesomeYesterday I was hard at work on the stable version of Pseutro 1.1.0. I've still got the downloads bug to fix, and the dreaded dev tools (but I may skip that for now). var-test-variable: hsl(0, 50%, 25%);
But Mozilla changed it in Firefox 31.0 (currently in Nightly) to this:

So I went through all of my variables and fixed them up, and I went through the entire theme and replaced most regularly used colours with CSS variables. This was essential for when I make the Pseutro Light version because it makes things so much easier, as I change the value of a variable in one place and it changes it everywhere in the theme, so switching colours from dark to light

Black Hills Camping Trip (photos)Ohhhh goodness... where to begin? Back from a rather crazy camping trip. Crazy in ways both good and bad. Decided to spend a weekend in the Black Hills since Chris (INTOtheRFD) had been through a couple long rough weeks of work and wanted some down time. There were also storm chances every day/night, which were very enticing. And ever since Chris and I visited there for the first time in late 2012, we started thinking about moving there. Since Sarah (JupiterLily) is here now, we figured what better opportunity to show her what could possibly be our future home?Black Hills Camping Trip (photos) in Personal More Like This
Left Friday morning to meet up with Chris, and headed west on I-90 through South Dakota towards Rapid City. Looked like an okay chase day, and stuff was finally starting to fire west of the Black Hills as we reached Kadoka. Headed west and south into the Black Hills, only to watch our storm die before it got to us. This would soon become the theme of the trip Called it a day and shot the sunset at Sylvan Lake.

Species-A-Day Macro Challenge!Alright, so I was out in the garden today and a "challenge" idea came to mind. Here's how it goes:Species-A-Day Macro Challenge! in Personal More Like This
1.) Take insect macros every day, and 2.) Post a different species for each day.
Thinking a month would be a fairly challenging period of time, so I'm going to start mine tomorrow (June 10th) and go until July 10th. So you should end up with an album of 30 or so images, all of a different species of insect. The photo that you post for each day MUST have been taken on that day, so no using multiple photos from any single day.
I want to get my macro skills back. I feel like it's been ages since I took a good insect photo, so this will be good practice for shooting in all kinds of conditions since the weather is likely to change. I want to get back that sense of patience that I used to have when it came to macro photography This will also force me to be more active, posting my images here at the end of every day.
Side note, dead insects DO count, but only
