12/21/86! One of my first train pics when I was just 21! I had been meaning to re-do "Entering BRC" [link] with a negative scan and PS cleanup! Hope you like the improvement of one of my favorite all time shots!

12/24/11: At Narraganset Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. A BNSF manifest led by a pair of SD60Ms (including rare tri-clops 8100) makes its way out of the west end of Clearing Yard to 55th Street Crossing and then head north to Cicero Yard and the famous "racetrack".
After receiving information from Norfolk Southern on October 6th, 2012. Information was told that EMD motors would be running a ordinance with Caterpillar on a special run between a special painted SD70ACe locomotive (CAT colors) and CAT tractors. The information also stated that the event will take place on the 25th of this month.
NS 055 (CAT parts from Decatur, IL to Savannah, GA) is seen running through New Baden, Illinois on 10/25/2012 in perfect perspective light with the Caterpillar painted locomotive #1201 which will be delivered to Savannah for export with the tractors.
When Norfolk Southern unveiled the heritage fleet, specifically the Conrail heritage unit, I imagined this shot in my head. I didnt think I would get this shot so soon. Ive been reluctant to share this as I dont think the NS higher ups know the fuel tank still says Conrail.
My first photo submission for the New Year is from my last photo outing of 2012.

Union Pacific SD70M 2001 glides into the UP's South Saint Paul yard along with SD70M 4262 heading for the fuel and servicing area after making a transfer run to the BNSF. UP 2001 along with sister unit 2002 wear special paint scheme's to commemorate the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Photographers note: A special "Thank you" to my best friend Kevin (EternalFlame1891) that gave me the heads up on this locomotive and was talking to me on my cell phone to get this shot! This was our third organized attempt to catch this unit with no success until this day! As they say "Third times a charm"!
Two EMD GP38-2's howl out of CP's Pigs Eye Yard in Saint Paul, MN pulling a mixed freight train heading north. The lead locomotive once had red and white paint with Soo Line lettering, but now wears a fresh coat of CP red while her sister and class locomotive still wears her original livery....for now.

Photo taken 7/21/11 at the 2011 Train Festival in Rock Island, IL. This is 2 of the Heritage units Amtrak owns. The night photo session was cancelled do to strong storms coming through. Some of the guys putting lights up got shots like this 1.
The Illinois zephyr posed for a couple photo run by's including one with the team of Santa Fe FP45 92 and Wisconsin Central SD45 7525. Engineer Ray Weart gives a tug of the classic Leslie RS3l for the group of railfans gathered for the photo shoot.
EMD's SD89MAC, SD60MAC, and a SD59, hang out in Lagrange. This is the place where locomotives were built that took steam down in the 1930s and 40s. All of these locomotive test beds have different wide cabs, which I didnt notice until now.
Other locomotives here but not pictured were a SD70Ace, F40ph, SW1500, and lots of stored SD40s.
BNSF AC4400CW 5672 sits on the ground at Gerber, Montana July 21, 2011. The two lead units (a pair of Dash 9s) were in good enough shape to rerail and pull into Great Falls, but this one was going to be loaded onto a flat car for transport. The derailement happened at 8:30 PM 7/19/11.

Thanks to a Heads-Up from , I was able to get into position for this shot. This is the first train to travel a new route for coast-to-coast container traffic in an effort to shorten distance and save time.
