9: Elias' RevengeElle stumbled forward onto the beach on hands and knees, just as a wave crashed against her. She fell forward onto her stomach, gasping for air as she tried to catch her breath. Her muscles screamed, her shoulders and arms trembling uncontrollably from the excruciating swim. Her legs cramped, needles of pain crawling over her calves when she tried to stretch her legs. But she had made it, she was alive.9: Elias' Revenge in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
She rolled onto her back with a groan, her whole body protesting. Staring up at the starry sky, Elle pushed the damp hair that clung to her cheeks out of her face, bringing herself up onto her elbows. She looked out at the water which shimmered in the moonlight, and in the distance she could make out the silhouette of the Revenge, and she sighed with relief when she realized that it was moving away.
Her relief was quickly replaced by guilt when she thought of Thomas. She had left him behind. She shook her head, unable to believe her own selfishness. She should have fought harder,
5: Elias Finds ElleElle woke with a start. She opened her eyes slowly, unable to make out anything but blackness beyond the flicker of the candle which burned low on the table beside her. She could hear the creaking of floorboards near the window to her left, and she turned onto her side and stared wide eyed into the darkness.5: Elias Finds Elle in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
She tried to scream when she saw a form coming towards her out of the shadows, but only managed a small squeak. She shot up in bed and scooted back until she was pressed against the headboard, bringing her knees to her chest.
When the figure became clearer thanks to the candlelight, Elle let out a shaky breath when she saw that it was only Mias.
"You scared the hell out of me," Elle breathed, pressing her hand against her chest.
Mias tilted his head as he watched her, a sly smile spreading across his lips. His eyes dragged over her face and down her neck to where she had the blanket tugged up over her knees, before his gaze met hers once more.
Elle shivered. He was looking at her a
7: Elle at SeaElias strode down the passageway, eager to see the look on Elle's face when she realized just how dire her situation had become. Something about seeing the look of helplessness on her face excited him, and he knew that it would work in his favor. After all, how could she continue to defy him if she had no choice but to obey him?7: Elle at Sea in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Elias climbed the companionway and stepped into the bright morning sun. The familiar roar of the ocean filled his ears, and he sucked in a lungful of salty sea air. He smoothed the front of his dark shirt, tugging the sleeves at his wrists before adjusting his collar. He was never one to appear on deck unkempt, evident by the gleam of his boots and the seamless press of his black breeches. And he had to admit, he wanted to look presentable for his bride to be, for if he appeared to her in muddy boots and dusty clothes as he had the night before, what would she think of him?
Elias glanced around the deck, and spotted Elle easily. She was leaning against the rail
8: Mias Finds ElleElle rose slowly from the spot where she had been sitting for the past hour. She wasn't usually one to feel sorry for herself, but Elias' spiteful words, rough hands, and unwanted kisses had taken their toll on her. Yet in spite of his constant cruelty, Elle was amazed at how she had handled things thus far, drawing on an inner strength that she didn't know that she possessed.8: Mias Finds Elle in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Drawing on that strength once more, Elle took in her surroundings in the hope that she would find something that could help her escape. After all, if what Elias had said about Mias was true, then she was in fact on her own. As she looked around the surprisingly large space of the cabin, hoping that she would spot something to aid in her escape plan, Elle held on to the hope that Elias had been lying. That seemed highly likely, given his behavior, but she wasn't going to pin her hopes on a possibility. As far as she was concerned, she was going to have to figure a way out of this situation herself.
Elle inched her
4: Mias, Elle, and...Abernos??"Stupid bloody magic!" Elle growled. She slammed the book on the table closed, dust floating up to her nose from the movement. She sneezed several times before leaning forward to rest her forehead against her palms, her frustration building.4: Mias, Elle, and...Abernos?? in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
For the past three days she had tried, to no avail, to find a way to break through the protection spell that was keeping her trapped. On the first day she had sprinted towards the open front door, hoping that she could break through with brute force and determination. Mias had been leaning over the banister, looking down at her with amusement. The instant she made contact with the open doorway she felt the empty space contract outwards as it gave under the force of her weight, before she was launched backwards into the manor where she landed without grace on her backside. Mias had roared with laughter, which she responded to with a finger that she hoped was universally known.
The second day was a day for experimenting. Elle decided to see if she co
2: Elle's EscapeMias stared at Elle's sleeping form beside him. She hadn't moved all nighthe knew because he hadn't moved all night either. He was still lying back against the headboard, watching her steady breathing and enjoying the rise and fall of her breasts beneath her lacy white bra. He had stripped her out of the gown she had been wearing, wanting her to be comfortable as she slept, confused as to why he cared about her comfort at all. His grin widened as her chest rose, deciding that caring about whether or not Elle was comfortable had to be the best damn idea he ever had.2: Elle's Escape in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Sunlight poured through the open window, a slant of light cutting across the bed and Elle's creamy white legs. Mias adjusted himself on the bed, and Elle shifted slightly before going still once more.
She would be awake soon, and Mias was suddenly aware that he had been lying on the bed in his clothes. He tried to smooth the wrinkles in his slacks and shirt, sighing with frustration when he realized not only was he a w

Elle opened her eyes with a groan to find Thomas leaning over her, his little hands on her shoulder as he tried to shake her awake.
"What time is it?" She croaked.
Stretching, she turned onto her side and glanced at the porthole, frowning when she saw that it was still dark.
"It's just after dawn!" Thomas said, sitting beside her on the narrow bed.
Elle sighed, tugging the thin sheet more tightly around her shoulder. She had made it a habit to sleep as late as she could, not because she was depressed, she assured herself, but because it meant less time spent anywhere near Elias, and more time spent devising a plan.
"Why on Earth are you waking me up so early?" Elle asked, just as a deafening BOOM rocked the ship.
Elle shot up in the bed, grabbing Thomas protectively around the shoulders. "What the hell was that?" She shrieked.
Thomas laughed. "It's alright Miss, just a signal shot to let Tearny know we intend to make port."
Elle stood up and stretched
10: Elle's RevengeElle ripped her arm free of the large sailor's grip as he hauled her up from the ladder and onto the deck. She nearly fell to the floor, feeling so detached and disoriented from the horror she had just witnessed that her whole body was numb.10: Elle's Revenge in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Mias is dead.
She felt a sharp twisting in her chest at the very thought, and she wanted nothing more than to crumple to the floor and cry. She looked towards the island, only able to see the outline of the cliffs and the glimmer of waves as they drifted onto the shore. Elle wanted to hurl herself over the side of the ship, to swim back to Mias and hold him in her arms one last time. But she knew there would be no point in it, that all the wishing and crying, all the promises and kisses in the world would never bring him back. All she could do now was hope that Mias knew what she felt for him. That his love for her was matched by her love for him.
She watched as Elias climbed up the last few steps of the ladder with a wide grin on his face,
3: Mias and Elle Share a KissIt took every bit of strength Elle had to keep herself from trembling. Mias still had his strong hands on her shoulders, his eyes furious. She felt so vulnerable, not because of Mias' firm hold on her, but because of the way his eyes looked deeply into hers, unblinking.3: Mias and Elle Share a Kiss in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
The silence seemed to stretch on forever, and Elle wasn't sure how much longer she could stand it.
"Whatever you're planning to do to me, I wish you would get on with it already. This drawn out silence is killing me." She was so proud of herself in that moment, because despite the fear that pooled in her belly her voice didn't show an ounce of what she felt.
Mias' lip twitched as if he was going to smile before his face returned to an unreadable mask.
"Unreadable, but so unbelievably handsome." She couldn't help but think.
"I don't think you fully appreciate the gravity of your situation," he said darkly.
His usually mischievous tone was cold and distant, and she didn't like it at all. It sent an icy chill through her,
6: Elle Held CaptiveMias leaned forward in the saddle, urging his black steed forward with kicks and shouts of encouragement. The crisp night air invigorated his senses, and he pushed his horse faster still. The landscape was a blur around him, farmhouses and cottages coming into view for mere seconds before disappearing once more into the darkness.6: Elle Held Captive in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Mias pulled up on the reins as he came up over a hill, giving him a perfect view of the rolling fields and cottages which dotted the countryside below. He patted his horse approvingly, glancing up at the moon and sucking in a lungful of air. He closed his eyes, allowing the sounds of the night to envelope him, letting the cricket song and the distant howls of wolves calm him. Yet his thoughts kept drifting back to Elle.
She was like no one he had met before in his life. She stood up to him, constantly challenging him and speaking her mind. It was refreshing, having someone so honest in his presence. People rarely looked him in the eye, their fear of
Mias and Elle - Chapter 1He had been watching her for some time, confident that he was well hidden from view to avoid any unexpected surprises for his guest. He blinked several times as she made a soft sound and her eyes slowly opened. She perplexed him. There was nothing extraordinary about her; just an ordinary girl. Yet, when he looked at her, there was something terribly captivating about her. Ordinary, but not of his world, which seemed a perfectly good enough reason for a man of his power to take her. But he had no need to explain himself; he did not need to justify his actions to himself or anyone. He wanted her; it was as simple as that. And he would have her.
Suddenly, the balcony doors flung open and the sunlight came cascading down around her. Her hair fluttered lightly with the breeze that rushed in, and the way that her skin
Mias and Elle - Chapter 6With breakfast set hastily on the end table, Mias' eyes scanned the bedroom and in to the washroom through the open door; both were empty.Mias and Elle - Chapter 6 in General Fiction More Like This
He was quite sure by this time that he would not receive a reply, but it helped to temporarily sooth his temper in a way that he could not understand. Perhaps she was playing a game. It was something in hearing her name; it invoked pleasant thoughts of her face that he could not repress.
"Where are you, my pet?" The amusement was fading quickly, "Elle."
Now stepping across the room slowly, Mias called out to Elle a few more times as he leaned in to give the washroom a more thorough visual inspection. Each step he made with caution, not knowing entirely what to expect. It was hard to contain his amusement when he saw the discarded wet towels on the floor, yet he was also disappointed that he had missed out on a delicious opportunity.
But, there was no sign of Elle anywhere. He could feel his blood starting to boil, his cheeks burning red visi

What fresh hell was this?
As hard she she tried, nothing came to mind of the previous night's ventures. It was all a fog half way through the walk home. She could remember every detail up until passing by the pounding bass and smoke filled air outside of the back doors nightclub on her usual short-cut home from her dead end job. It was dark, but upon thought, darkness was not much of a memory. And the harder she tried, the more scattered the real memories became. It was all very confusing, and since she was not one to indulge in the drink, nothing about the situation felt right.
It sounded paranoid, and quite frankly, like a pathetic excuse for whatever it w
Mias and Elle - Chapter 17The next several days passed by without pause, rushing by with such speed and enthusiasm that Elle felt as though the very sun and moon were under a spell bent on making her peaceful time anything but considering the nights. The nights lingered with such terrible purpose that she yearned for the long absent presence of Mias for comfort and distraction from the haunting experiences once sleep overcame her.Mias and Elle - Chapter 17 in General Fiction More Like This
So many nights filled with the frightening disembodied voice that had tormented her on her first sleeps inside of Mias' walls that she had become completely unaware that she was on her eighth night after a day without seeing hide or hair of her debonair captor. It was all so frightening that Elle had not even paid much heed to the fact that she could now understand the words that formed in the darkness of her dreams.
The voice had been taunting and teasing her with warnings that the worst was yet to come, and that there was nothing that Mias could do to keep her safe
Mias and Elle - Chapter 21Elle rubbed at her eyes, trying to rid herself of the irritating burning caused by the salty tears that they had recently been swimming in. Wobbling gently on her perch upon Abernos' shoulder as he walked as quickly as he could manage without putting her at risk, she tried to clear her head to no avail. She was having a difficult time understanding why it was that she was being so emotional over Mias, a man who she had met was kidnapped by only a few weeks ago. Why was she so sad to leave him, especially when she was going to get to spend time with her new, lovely friend, Abernos? And Abernos was made to be made equally uncomfortable by the thought that she seemed up set to have to leave Mias and spend time with him was he so bad? Eyebrows raised, he enjoyed re-experiencing it all over again in his head. Ah, how delectable her whimpers and moans had been, and he had caused every single one of them. He wanted to hear those wonderful sounds and see her gorgeous face contort into expressions of pleasure.
His laugh echoed through the halls. As far as he was concerned, he had won.
That egomaniacal bastard.
Elle could hear Mias' obnoxious laughter penetrating the walls, and it shook her from her daze. Staring at the lightly formed bruise directly between her eyes in the mirror, she massaged her temple to ease the steady hammering inside. As sore as her head was, she enjoyed the rush
Mias and Elle - Chapter 3With each heavy boot step vases and glassware cracked violently as Mias stormed passed down the hallway with frustrated determination. He had gone through much trouble to get her here, and there was no use giving up simply because wooing her presented itself as a slight challenge. A crystal candelabrum that sat on a table unfortunately close to him shattered into hundreds of pieces, all perfectly identical. He frowned and rolled his eyes at the mess before continuing on to the dining hall. The little guttersnipe, as gorgeous as she was, definitely knew how to grate on his nerves.
Mias pictured her silken blonde mess and enchanting eyes again and felt a twist in his gut. This had been happening rather often in the short time that she had been in his home.
The table was set up for a delightfu
Mias and Elle - Chapter 8Elle kept a careful eye on Mias, nervous and quite fearful of what she had just witnessed him conjure in and around his hand out of thin air. He still had not answered her question, and she had a feeling that she would not get an answer or at least a real one- for some time. It was terrifying and incredibly intriguing to think of all of the possibilities of what that answer may be, but for now she would have to go on assumptions, as those were being carried away by her imagination to horrible places.Mias and Elle - Chapter 8 in General Fiction More Like This
As they exited the stag brothers' home, Elle glanced over her shoulder and found that she really had no idea what it was that she was looking at. To the untrained eye in this case, Elle- there was absolutely nothing there but a rather large tree about the circumference of two average human arm spans. There was no sign of a door, or a home or hut of any kind behind it; it was forest, just like everything else around her, other than a feint hint of a path under the foliage.

"Her, Berenos. I found her a few klicks in, east of the Decivus land."
The larger of the two, Berenos, stumbled over the hearth in alarm, the clatter making Elle's unconscious body shuffle and grunt. He tried repeatedly to assure himself that he had simply misheard his brother, that it was not true that they had become tangled in the affairs of the Decivus family, but a miscommunication was far too rare a thing between them.
"Mathias Decivus? You took her from one of them?!" He softened his voice as the body on the bed shifted again. "Abernos, are you completely mental? She can't stay here; you have to get rid of her!"
"Don't be so cruel, brother! She seemed to need help "
Abernos stroked absently at the girl's hair, brushing his fingertips against her warm forehead as his eyes scanned her face repeatedly, taking it all in. There was something about her that made him smile, and even more so than usual. There was something so uniq
Mias and Elle - Chapter 9Elle lay on her back in an awkward position and uncomfortable silence only broken by her occasional gasps of air. Cheeks burning red, lips swollen and tingling, she stared blankly at the ceiling. She wished that she could get in a calming breath to centre herself, but it was proving difficult what with the painful pounding in her chest. Dragging her bottom lip between her teeth, she rubbed her forehead with the palms of her hands. This was becoming a habit of her body to go into this strange panic whenever Mias got so dangerously close.
Bored, and having nothing better to do, and liking the idea of being washed of the contact of Mias, she ran a bath. With no intention of relaxing, especially considering what had just happened not making her feel very safe letting her guard down, she made it quick. Before lathering herself up,

The veil of blackness lifted as her surrounding came into focus. She looked down to find herself seated on the edge of a king sized mattress complete with a four post bed frame, canopy, and matching curtains. Several large pillows lay in front of the headboard and gladly welcomed Elle's spinning head as she collapsed backward.
To the right side of the bed was a white marble table adorned with a decorative vase filled with fresh roses. She could tell they had only recently been picked from the sweet scent they wafted into the room. It was a welcoming and calming scent that soothed her jumbled mind.
To the left was a large window that let it bright starlight and moonlight alike. The sky itself was a velvety dark blue a

The honey blond lay awake in bed, her eyes staring dully at the canopy. Sleep had come and gone numerous times, teasing her tired mind and body. She felt heavy as she lay listening to the awakening day, her clothes clinging to her form due to perspiration. She longed for a bath and a change of underwear, but did not yet have the strength to get up to seek them. Languidly, she raised a hand up over her eyes and sighed. She realized she was hungry as well.
Knowing she wouldn't be able to sleep on an empty stomach, she forced herself upright and slowly slid her legs off the side of the bed. She pushed herself to her feet and decided to investigate the contents of the wardrobe. Elle opened the door and had her eyes awakened by bright, richly colored dresses in materials of both silk an
Elle and Mias: Chapter 63"It started ten years ago, when the peak of my pubescent defiance toward my father reached its boiling point. He sent me to this private, practically unheard of academy called Thornwood; dreadful lackluster name that suited its lackluster campus, incompetent students, and droll professors. While my father believed my education was important, I think he sent me off to this place to get an experience in hell, because that's what it was. I was still passing whether I worked or not, so I decided t
Elle and Mias: Chapter 3The clear morning transitioned into a cloudy grey afternoon with a chill wind that held a distant promise of rain. Elle sat in a chair looking out the window, her thoughts focused on just how she should make her escape. Instead, she'd wait until it started raining so any tracks she made would be washed away. She'd repel down the side of the building using the bed sheets tied together and then run as fast as she could away from this place. Not an entirely complicated plan, but simplicity often proved to be far more useful. Now all Elle needed was nature's cooperation.
"Elle," she heard from outside her door before it opened and Mias leaned his head in. "Might you be interested in a tour of my lovely abode?"
"Come now, staring out a window for hours on end is hardly entertaining." He strode into the room and approached her side. "Avoi
Elle and Mias: Chapter 8To Elle's surprise, Mias gave up trying to catch her after only a few minutes. She waited behind a discreet broom closet door for nearly fifteen minutes before she squeezed herself out from under the door, shook her furry little body free of dust, and scurried over to the front door. She didn't care what form she escaped in, she simply wanted out. Once again she tried to push herself out under the door, but the front doors fit too well against the frame work to make a crack big enough for even a mouse to slip through.Elle and Mias: Chapter 8 in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Ever the optimist, Elle ran through the entry to the back corridors and into the dining room. She remembered seeing a large balcony off the back wall. Perhaps the doors that opened up to it would be easy to get through.
She felt out of breath running a rather short distance, but managed to reach the doors without stopping to take a break. Again she tried to squeeze herself under the door and this time too, was unsuccessful.
She plopped down on her behind and stared up at
Elle and Mias: Chapter 35Noric: the lonely north land filled with mountains and snow was where Elle found herself when she woke up. "Nn !" She stretched herself out and rubbed the sleep from her eyes. As her vision cleared, she noticed one of the furs was brushing up against her leg like it had a mind of its own.
She threw the covers back to discover a young white furred stag curled up in a ball against her legs. His ears were twitching as he slept and he had the tip of his thumb in his mouth, all very cute of course, but disturbing none the less to Elle when she discovered she had a bed partner.
"EEE!!" She shrieked.
The fawn jumped from his sleep, his gray eyes wide open, and screamed along with Elle.
"Wh-Wh-What are you doing?!" Elle clutched the covers up around her.
