Art theft and retracing artHey guys! How are you all?Art theft and retracing art in Personal More Like This
This... is not my usual life-is-perfect journal entry. It's about Art theft, and what is considered as disrespectful if you ever copy/retrace original artworks. To make things as clear as possible:
-you DO NOT submit another artist's artwork in your own dA gallery. Your gallery is for YOUR stuff, your favorites is for the artworks you have specially liked while browsing dA. Submitting someone else's art and saying it's your own, is considered as theft.
Clear? Should be for most, but you never know. Next:
-you DO NOT retrace, copy, color, or edit another artist's artwork without giving them the proper credits. You DO NOT submit this edited artwork and say it's "your own original artwork" without ANY indications to which artwork you're editing/copying from. It WILL NOT help you in any way as an artist to receive compliments about an artwork because the viewers think it's all you. You HAVE to accept your own flaws and need of an original artwork
Adventure Time # 3 and WomanthologyGUYS!!! Look what I got today! Adventure Time #3 with cover B (my cover!) and Womanthology, with my page!Adventure Time # 3 and Womanthology in Personal More Like This
It's days like this that make it feel really worthwhile to be a comic artist. There's nothing like seeing your work in print to make it feel "real." <3
I've gotten reports from other people that Adventure Time # 3 is in stores and they were able to get the version with my cover already! Check your local comic shop if you're interested in snagging one.
"Womanthology" is also worth a look. It's a huge tome dedicated to spotlighting female comic artists. Thanks to a very generous donation by my friend Ted during their Kickstarter, I got one page for myself. (Hence why I crammed stuff about both "Sister Claire" AND "Nightingale" on the same page. XD)
