Mortasheen Mutant Generator!http://scythemantis.deviantart.com/art/Mortasheen-MUTANT-GENERATION-TABLE-312694819Mortasheen Mutant Generator! in Personal More Like This
I've created a table you can use to generate a random "mutant" character from the Mortasheen world! If you end up playing the RPG when it comes out (sorry, no set date yet!) you can even use it to make player characters!
This was already a big hit on my tumblr http://bogleech.tumblr.com/ and I've received so much artwork of people's random characters that I'll be making an official gallery of them on Bogleech.com, so if you roll one up and draw it, leave me a link and I'll add it to the collection!
I'm going on a trip from July 10 to August 6 (and I'll be at Otakon! Note me if you want to get in touch or something!) so you won't see a whole lot of updates while I'm away from my scanner, but I'll be doing whatever I can!
The ultimate failure of any skepticTime and again, folks like Kajm will point over and over to how many peer-reviewed papers and "experts" they know of who agree with them that CO2 doesn't affect climate or that human activity hasn't increased greenhouse gases. The same goes for the evolution deniers, the anti-vaxxers, the people who believe different races can be genetically "inferior" or "superior" to others and the people who believe the center of the Earth houses a community of insidious lizard-men.The ultimate failure of any skeptic in Personal More Like This
Simultaneously, these characters completely dismiss and deride any peer-reviewed papers or experts who say otherwise.
They desperately grasp at every straw they can on their shallower side of the pool, even though they're the same type of straws that they consistently claim cannot be trusted.
That's really my biggest question to people like this; how, exactly, do they personally distinguish what they think is a "reliable" and "unreliable" source? What makes them think that there's a dogmatic lie behi
My dirty dirty liesSo, A CERTAIN SOMEBODY (I shouldn't have to keep name-dropping him at this point, and it's not as if there's any good reason for people to look him up) has explained what it is he feels I'm "lying" about:My dirty dirty lies in Personal More Like This
HIM: "You still claim I 'deny' climate change. You claim I have convinced people climate change is a 'hoax.'"
Cute.
Anyone can tell that when I post about climate change, I'm talking strictly about an unprecedented global phenomenon. That doesn't need to be specified. It's clear from the entire context. That's clear in any scientific discussion going on right now where those words are uttered.
You make a point of using "climate change" to refer to the same mundane, common atmospheric behavior the planet routinely endures, which may be technically, linguistically correct, but when we're talking about modern environmental issues, global warming and anthropogenic influence, people take the phrase "climate change" to be short hand for the issue of a rapid, unusual modern trend. You
Hilarity continuesSo :iconstevehno96: , who feels that tolerance of homosexuality "goes too far" and "indoctrinates children," posed numerous questions to me after I defended the LGBT community, but for some inexplicable reason, blocked me before I could even read those questions, let alone respond. So, I guess I'll just address everything here!Hilarity continues in Personal More Like This
-Nothing can "confuse" children into becoming homosexual. You don't just accidentally stumble into a sexual orientation because that orientation is tolerated by society.
-At no point did I compare you to a klansman. I said "is it an ad hominem to call a Klansman a bigot?" because you made bigoted statements and then accused others of "ad hominem" attacks. In no way does this imply that you are exactly like them, although the fact that you "don't condone violence" (allegedly) does not make your sentiments any nobler or more correct than the underlying philosophy of any other hate movement. This is especially nothing at all like your comparison to LGBT's as a form
Kajm Misconceptions about Global WarmingI was name dropped in his recent journal as someone who just doesn't listen to the "facts" that he poses, so I thought I'd demonstrate that yes, actually, I do. In fact, I've read Kajm's journals for a long time now. They're a handy guide to the biased, distorted fairy tales coming out of the skeptic movement and make excellent debate practice.Kajm Misconceptions about Global Warming in Personal More Like This
MYTH 1: The mild warming over the 20th century is well within natural variations recorded in the last millenium. The reported warming trend is up to twice what it should read as due to the uneven distribution of data collection methods concentrated in urban areas.
FACT: Science is well aware of the "urban heat island" effect and already accounts for it. However, further studies into their effects find no significant impact on overall climate data:
Here's a paper from 1990 already identifying it as a potential issue:

Today's Kajmisms!KAJM: "The realities of climate are Constantly being misrepresented. What they claim in public, is often NOT what they will admit in private. We discovered that in the Climategate emails. (personally, the emails I liked best, are the ones in which virtually EVERY other climate scientist involved, TRASHES michael mann's hockey stick temperature reconstruction.)"Today's Kajmisms! in Personal More Like This
Mmmmmm, Climategate. I love this one, because it does a better job than I ever could of destroying any skeptic with the balls to still utter the term.
I already described the problem with people who judge all of science and entire scientific fields by individuals, but in this case, the individuals did nothing wrong either. The entire "controversy" is built on quote mining, deliberate misinterpretation and especially a single e-mail which makes reference to "hiding the decline," a reference not at all to a decline in the climate, but in reference to data on tree rings.

Direct question to Kajm:You've repeatedly told people I'm always "LYING" (always in caps) about what you believe.Direct question to Kajm: in Personal More Like This
You haven't, however, explained what it actually is you think I'm "lying" about. At least not to my knowledge.
I'm sorry to say that I'm not aware of any particular way I've misrepresented what you stand for and any such discrepancy would be accidental.
Could you please list the things I've said about you that aren't true? I'd be happy to correct them in the future, I just can't do that if you haven't even said what they are, you know. I really don't know what you refer to at all.
It's my understanding that you don't believe human civilization contributes in any significant degree to climate change. That's virtually all I really know about you that concerns me in any way. Is that not really accurate?
Why 'reality is liberal'A lot of crazier people in America are thoroughly convinced that there's a "liberal bias" in the media. Because our news and entertainment is filled with cultural diversity, secularism, environmentalism, a growing acceptance of diverse sexual orientations and other things certain people just don't like, the only conclusion that makes sense in their mind is that there's a "bias" going on. That a small number of "liberals" happen to control the media industry and deliberately insert these attitudes to brainwash the public towards their agenda. Why 'reality is liberal' in Personal More Like This
If anything, however, the media falls quite a bit behind the progress of the American public as a whole. Sexism, homophobia, racism and xenophobia are less evident now in our media than they were decades ago, but still a constant underlying presence, especially the way corporate sponsors still control a great deal of content and choose to appeal to the lowest, safest common denominator.

This is what Republicans actually believeI originally posted this to tumblr and it went over nicely, but as more and more developments piss me off I feel the need to expand it and put it someplace more permanent. This is what Republicans actually believe in Personal More Like This
Some of you, even some of my best friends, disagree with most or all of the following list and still identify yourselves as "republicans" or "conservatives." I just have to ask why? Why keep clinging to labels so inexorably entrenched in discrimination, willful ignorance and outrageous displays of villainy straight out of a derivative cartoon? The majority of so-called "right wing" Americans, including virtually all of those with any political or social power, very vocally hold at least one of the following sentiments. I've included links to a few, in case you start to doubt that real people could ever actually say things like these:

What Really Goes On During a Nude Shoot? There's a thieving troll on the loose here at dA. I'm not going to link to or name the twerp, because he's caused enough drama, already. That's not the purpose of this journal entry. He'll be banned soon enough, and that will be the end of it. If you're watching me, it's likely that you're watching some of the photographers and models he's harassing , already. But in his rants, he made accusations of photographers having sex with every model they work with, and vice-versa. This guy may be a nut, but that's an assumption a lot of people make.
Photographers rarely sleep with their models, save for having a normal healthy relationship with them (it doesn't count when the model is the photographer's wife or girlfriend). Those that do are likely to develop reputations as being womanizing assholes, and it's not long before models stop working with them. Believe it or n

So here's the thing. I had a model contact me on ModelMayhem (and I specifically say on my page that I only pay models if I approach them). She asked if I wanted to work with her and her mother. I've actually been wanting to work with two models, so I was interested.
Unfortunately, I'm a broke-ass bastard.
So I informed her that I don't have the funds to pay her, but if she's willing to work for trade, I'm up for it (realizing that traveling models probably have expenses, which I'm willing to cover).
What the hell, right? I know she's looking for money, but but there's a chance she actually wants my work in her portfolio. Can't hurt to ask.
Here's her response: "No I dont do trades, and that won't happen lol.I am in town for 2 days, and there is no way I will do a trade."
"LOL"? Really?
I would have accepted something like, "I'm sorry, I'm a traveling model and I have

"Eh?" returned the boy, with all his might of wonder.
"What's to-day, my fine fellow?" said Scrooge.
"To-day?" replied the boy. "Why, November 7th."

Hue and CryA few words of warning to all those who dare to pursue their dreams: there is no safety net. Ambition is a high risk pursuit and failure is the most common outcome.Hue and Cry in Personal More Like This
Don't listen to the rosy tales of the lucky and the privileged: the promises are a lie. Their advice is well-meaning-useless at best, condescending at worst. The openings found by the lucky few tend to be closed as soon as they come to light.
No matter how skilled you may be, no matter how visionary, how experienced, you will most likely fail, for the simple reason that the industries will reject you for the audacity of your "outsider ambition".
The opportunities go to well-connected insiders (which clearly isn't you is it?) or to the latest batch of (cheap, naive) interns produced by an industry's institutions of choice (and even those tend to be tossed out for the next batch of fresh, free, disposable talent in their turn). And the rest

Visit the blogosphere much? Peruse sites dedicated to your favorite pastimes?
Perhaps you have noticed a growing trend around the internet: blogs and websites trading their unique user access systems for logins via the prime activity data harvesters of Facebook, Google, Twitter, et all.
They will claim this switch is for "user convenience".
"Combine all your logins!"
"Comment from your mobile devices!"
"Notify all your friends of your posts!" etc, etc.

Uh... do you smell something a tad fishy?
It's pure carp. All this is (rather blatantly) to drive advertising at expense of users' experience, exploiting even the content of user comments to trick their friends into clicking ads.

Obsessive AmbitionThere is an interesting thing about any pursuit one really enjoys doing: how much one makes one suffer for it. Whether it is the dogged training of athletes pushing for a slight improvement in performance, or a scholar grappling to gain a firm hold on some convoluted subject, there is that tendency to make things difficult for oneself.Obsessive Ambition in Personal More Like This
Naturally, artists are no exception.
Some will claim it is the challenge that motivates, some the satisfaction of overcoming, and many more seem to not give it any thought at all: just par for the course.
Granted, great callings and ideas have a way of demanding that one pursue them, even if it will be a bumpy ride. But really, these still tend to be elective, and the drive comes from within even the face of certain difficulty and frustration.
Suffice it to say, I see quite a bit of this at work here at DeviantArt: both works-in-progress that push the limits of skill, and the products of success, fai
Star Wars versus J J AbramsIt is not a simple topic.Star Wars versus J J Abrams in Personal More Like This
As I have been asked repeatedly of late for my opinion on the choice of J J Abrams to direct additional Star Wars sequels — and am tired of repeating myself — I provide this summary, outlining the key points as I perceive them.
But to speak of this matter requires me to first reference my issues with his take on Star Trek.
The Abrams reboot is a flashy, thrilling spectacle and quite entertaining in that fashion — but utterly lacks the thoughtfulness or relatively logical realism that Star Trek strives for at its best, driven instead by hackneyed setting cliches, ridiculous narrative contrivances, generic sci-fi tropes, "underage" casting and a technical style that seems 99% visual fluff and flash. As a direction, I fear this tact will lead the franchise to ruin, its distinctive character sacrificed in the name of maximum box-office returns.
In short, it is a fine — even great — space adventure film, but a lousy Star Trek one.

I'm not necessarily known for being an angel. And a lot of people easily judge me for it. To me it's so interesting that people will take their time to put you down on something. Everything I do only comes to harm of myself, no one else. I know what I'm doing and I'm happier than I have ever been yet there's still people who feel the need to express their disgust. And no one is perfect so really, humans in any situation shouldn't be judging so harshly. Just think about it.
