Duckyworth's Edits: How to Make 1D Villains WorkHello my friends! Here’s another instalment in Duckyworth’s Edits – a little variation on my usual film reviews where I either talk about a mistake or a changing opinion from one of my film reviews, or talk about my thoughts on a certain aspect of film that I want to share my opinions on.Duckyworth's Edits: How to Make 1D Villains Work in Personal More Like This
In today’s Duckyworth’s Edits, I’ll be talking about one of my favourite aspects of film – villains. Yep, in most cases, you can’t have a brilliant protagonist without an equally brilliant antagonist to go up against, and in most cases, the villains can end up becoming even more popular and cherished than the actual hero of the film. Now, there are many types of villain in films - comedic villains, tragic villains, terrifying villains – but the type of villains I will be talking about today are one-dimensional villains.
Now, some people criticise villains that are ‘one-dimensional’ – those that
55 Facts About MeHello, my friends!55 Facts About Me in Personal More Like This
Well, I mentioned in my last journal that I was writing a '50 Facts About Me' journal - and here it is for you. I've extended it to 55. Hopefully, this will paint a better picture of me. So, here we go.
My full name is Callum Patrick Duckworth – on signatures, I tend to write C.P.Duckworth, and when I write my name, I write Callum P. Duckworth. I don’t know why, but I’ve always had a habit of signing my middle name… even though it’s not essential. My DA name is an anagram of my nickname ‘Ducky’ and my surname.
My star sign is Pisces, and my birthday is February 22nd. I was actually born quite a few months early...
I’m generally a cheery person, but the few times that I become depressed, I become REALLY depressed. Probably why I thought so badly of the Spongebob episode Are You Happy Now, as it put me in a depression for two days after watching it.
My favourite number is
MY DA StoryYeeh, it is late but I got so touched all the mentions and started feeling nostalgic so I wanted to do this. Again, thank you ALL who mentioned me in their stories! I am so honored I've been part in so many peoples lives.MY DA Story in Personal More Like This
But let's get this started!
It all started 7 years ago
I vaguely remember surfing this website when I was young. I was a bit internet shy so I never ever thought about submitting my own art! (and how happy I am about that because oh boy if you guys had to see my 13-14 stuff! HOHOH) No, I settled for browsing through other people's art and just showing my art and comics to my little cousin.
Eventually I started to feel that I might wanted to get more active in the internets. My first real internet account was my youtube account. At the time, I was a huge The Nightmare before christmas fan. I spent a lot of time looking for videos of it. And I can't exactly remember how I we met, but I met Sony-Shock through youtube. Ah! It was so amazing to find
Dear Departed Is DoneOn September 2nd 2010, I posted the first page of Random Doom's fourth chapter, called Dear Departed. Four years later, I finally posted the last page.Dear Departed Is Done in Personal More Like This
WHY THE HECK IT TOOK ME SO LONG?!
Well, this four years have been really important in my life. When I started DD, I was close to finishing my studies and graduating. This was, of course, quite big deal. I had my final thesis to write and I had to find a job. Thankfully I got them all done and I now have a great job as a graphic designer.
That was one thing that affected my comic making time... But of course, there was that one reason that took my interest and eventually lead to another delay. RP groups.
I am not gonna lie, those groups took my interest completely and DD and Random Doom in general was no longer my main interest. But I do not regret it. These RP groups affected my story making skills and eventually it lead to that other delay I mentioned earlier, complete rewriting of RD casts' bios.
I did receive a comment about how this

Friendship is magicAn important lesson I learned is to differentiate the people who legitimately care about me and the people who just tell me what I want to hear. Being in a relationship with a blunt person and having many honest friends has helped me in discovering some of my weaknesses. Sometimes I get too anxious, too clingy, and too overly conscious. But then I remembered to breathe and expect the best in people that have shown that they love me for who I am and who have been nothing but selfless towards me.Friendship is magic in Personal More Like This
Sure, because I try my hardest to look at the best in people, I sometimes make friends with toxic individuals. I cut ties with many people for the past months, and some of these people did nothing but either assume the worst in me or take advantage of my compassionate (yet naive) nature. However, I’ve become more aware of this as time goes on and now I don’t feel fear in standing up to myself or thinking that I deserve the bullshit thrown at my direction. It’s been quite
Nuzlockes - a niche within a nicheHey everyone!Nuzlockes - a niche within a niche in Personal More Like This
While Nuzlocke comics and stories may be popular, I've noticed a recurring pattern involving the authors within the community. Some authors do it for fun and use nuzlockes as part of a mindless hobby and others dedicate their LIVES to it and take it utterly seriously to the point of asking...what is the point?
Being in a community with these individuals who act as pseudo intellectuals and try really hard to engage you with their flowery vocabulary and pretentious standards, is getting pretty tiring to me. Don't get me wrong, I've met amazing people in this community and it's a blast talking to them. Some of my friends are one of the most popular Nuzlocke artists out there and not once did I think that their popularity was blinding them.
Then I met people who take their popularity so seriously that they make it out of their way to make guides about storytelling and tutorials about making Nuzlocke comics. There have even been GROUPS dedicated in judging Nuzlockes, which is.

Judgement - MarigoldHey everyone! So I’ve been getting an interesting response to Marigold’s new attire. Some people get the impression that I’m making Marigold ‘prettier’ , which is very interesting to me since I feel like I’ve been drawing Marigold the same as always. However there is one thing that’s intentional and that is that Marigold’s appearance will change slightly over time.Judgement - Marigold in Personal More Like This
Marigold is initially supposed to represent the ‘ugly duckling’ stage (She’s 14 years old, BARELY a teen). This is when a child goes through puberty and their body is going through changes. Some of these changes look really awkward since it’s a mix of childish body parts mixed with adult ones.
On top of that, Marigold’s old outfit wasn’t even her’s. It belonged to her mother. Because of the Whitney incident, Marigold realized how important it is to be your own person therefore she made the decision (with Whitney’s help
Judgement is my therapy~So I’ve been asked a lot of how and why I update my comic so quickly, and I wanted to write down the answer because I believe it’s important to let you guys know WHY I do this. This is the only comic I update regularly and it’s one that I do without any profit. Not only that but it’s 50% based on Pokemon and 50% based on my original ideas so why should I continue doing something that isn’t profitable or not completely ‘mine’?Judgement is my therapy~ in Personal More Like This
I do it because it gives me an insane amount of happiness. So much so that it reduces my clinical anxiety/Post traumatic stress disorder.
I believe it’s because the subject of the comic is tied to Pokemon. When I was a kid, Pokemon was the franchise I was most interested in but after the fad went away and I started to go through puberty I was bullied a lot for it. So much so that I had to hide at recess so I could play Pokemon peacefully where the bullies didn’t pick on me.
