ZADR Orange Chapter 036
Giggling at Dib's teasing, Zim merely nudged Dib lightly. "Awww, come on. It can't be that bad." he urged Dib to tell him the rest of his dream.
Giggling himself at the small nudge, Dib finally sighed out lightly. "Alright... Well, to tell the truth, I don't remember exactly what you were doing to me in my dream, but whatever it was, you seemed to be enjoying yourself...a LOT...I figure you were finally having your way with me. Heh...But I could be wrong....Because...You promised you'd wait until I was ready, and I have a hard time imagining that you would go against your word...Even if only in a dream..." he smiled to himself, a small blush gracing his cheeks as he told Zim all this.
Sighing to himself, Zim looked away at that answer. "Yeah...I wouldn't want to lose your trust..." his voice came out in a whisper as he was slowly beginning to w

A couple of hours passed, one right after the other, until finally Dib started to show the first signs of waking back up, though this time for good.
"Mmm...Zim?" he murmured before blinking his eyes open to look around the room.
To his surprise, said Irken was nowhere to be found. He had gone upstairs while Dib was sleeping but hadn't made it back before he woke up.
So, sitting up in bed slowly when he realized Zim wasn't in the bed with him, Dib looked about the room confusedly. "Zim?" he said again, unsure whether he should get up and look for the other or stay put. Squeezing his legs together somewhat uncomfortably, he squirmed about in the covers a bit as the urge to pee hit him all over again, reminding him that he had needed to go the last time he had woken up.

Zim hardly responded to Dib's barging in as he remained laying on the couch with his back to the door. Merely balling up in his spot even more, he rather squeezed his eyes tightly shut, as though expecting the other to start throwing threats at him now rather than over the phone. "Wh-What are you doing here?" he asked, his voice scratchy from how long he had cried.
Still in a panic, Dib merely continued to look around the room with wide, unblinking eyes. "I-Is this some kind of trick?! She said she was coming to kill you! She told me! I...I..." his words trailed off as his eyes continued to dart from one end of the room to the other.
Finally sitting up a little, Zim turned slightly to look back at the other, the blanket slipping down to his waist. "What are you talking about?" he now looked at the hybrid as though the other were insane.

As Zim continued to sleep on for a while longer, the sweet smell of heated waffles slowly wafted into the living room. "Mmm..." he smiled, licking his lips before then rolling over and crashing onto the floor with a loud thud.
Jumping at the sound of Zim falling onto the floor followed by a pained groan from the other, Dib rushed back over to the entrance to the living room to peek out on the other again. "Zim!" he exclaimed before making his way over to the fallen Irken, kneeling down on the ground next to him to help him back up. "Are you okay?" he asked, sending him a concerned look.
"Mmm..." Zim merely grumbled, snuggling back up to Dib. "Zim is too tired to wake up..." he yawned before hearing his stomach growl loudly, causing his eyes to snap open. "Th-Then again..."he said before offering one of his hands to Dib.
Carefully helping Zim back to his feet, Dib seated him on the couch where he w

Helping to steady Zim, Dib reached for the blanket he had wrapped Zim in earlier and his trench coat to pull back on. Then, draping the blanket around Zim, he merely scooped him up into his arms. "You shouldn't be walking yet. I'll carry you to the base. Besides, you'll be needing what little energy you do have right now for when we get back to your base. I'm not so sure your computer is going to let me in again." he sighed, dropping his gaze to the ground.
Nodding his head, Zim nuzzled himself into Dib's chest. "Mmm...He'll let us in...You just gotta know how to talk to him. He doesn't take you as an authority figure is all. I bet Gaz could get to him, what with all her gaming knowledge." he said, doing his best to stay awake as he was carried up the stairs to where he saw Gaz waiting for them.

Gaz couldn't take it anymore. She was sick and tired of having to listen to her father complain about every imperfection he found in Dib. So dropping her video game, she couldn't help but send Professor Membrane an icy glare. "Dad, SHUT UP! We ARE lumped together! I'm gay too!" she voiced out before stomping her way over to the stairs to the lab. "If you were home more, you would have known this about us!" she turned to scream back at him before storming down the stairs, just mad enough at Membrane to help Dib save Zim.
Jumping at the sound of his sister stomping down the stairs, Dib quickly turned his head to look back at her. "G-Gaz?" he couldn't believe his eyes as he watched her come up next to him so she could kneel down and take up her own towel to help him dry Zim off.

"O-Of course! I-I wouldn't leave you..." Dib said quickly, kneeling down near the Irken again and leaning in to press another kiss to his forehead before resting his head on Zim's chest comfortably.
Smiling at this, Zim brought his arms up to wrap around Dib. "Thank you..." he thanked the other before closing his eyes tiredly.

To say the very least, Gaz wasn't surprised to hear somebody knocking on the door again that day as she went to open it, thinking that perhaps it was just Zim again. "What now- Dib?" she stopped short of her sentence, looking a little surprised to see her brother standing there and the condition he was in. "What happened to you?" she covered up her surprise quickly, as if she didn't already know.
Unable to even bring his gaze up to meet Gaz's, tears still streaming down his cheeks as he sniffled wetly, Dib merely continued to stare down at the ground in somewhat of a daze. "I-I don't want to talk about it...Can I spend the night here...? Please? I don't know where else to go..." his antennae drooped as he knew he couldn't go back to Zim's base.

Watching as Zim left with Purple, Dib suddenly felt rather uncomfortable being left alone with only Red, unsure whether he should leave or stay.
Closing the door behind them, Purple then turned to face Zim once they were alone, circling him a few times before slinking up behind him to place two hands with long, slender fingers on his shoulders. "So...Tell me, Zim...You 'like' this Dib-human that Red has been talking about this entire time?" he questioned the other, almost suspiciously.
Zim blushed at having Purple so close. There had been a reason why he preferred to speak with HIM over Red after all, the same reason Red always wanted him gone. "Yes...I like him." he answered back confidently, eyes fixed on anywhere but Purple.

Zim assumed he was just having trouble adjusting to digesting his old favorite foods with his new digestive track, so he was only mildly surprised the first few times he ended up throwing it up. He was always there to hold Dib tight afterwards though. So for the first few times, he thought nothing much of it, but as time went on and it continued, they both began to become worried. It had only been a bit over two months since the 'incident' when Zim started to notice that Dib was a little pudgier than usual.
"Dib?" Zim asked one morning, stroking his hair lightly. "You feeling any better today?" he asked, taking a seat on the bed and leaning over him.

"If it wasn't intentional then why didn't you just tell me?! How could you expect that I would be mad about something you did unintentionally?!" Dib screamed at the other before falling silent again after a moment, making Zim think he wouldn't open the door.
After a few moments, however, he opened it, just a crack, to peek out at the disguised alien, tears running down his cheeks. "Why couldn't you just tell me...? If you did something that I for some reason don't remember, then why couldn't you just fill me in on exactly what happe

The school bell rang in an annoying manor, and teens swung their backpacks over their shoulders to leave the doomed room they were force to wait and listen in. It was English class. The English teacher, a round woman of the name Mrs. Maloy walked past Zim, giving him a hateful look before finding her place back in her own teacher's desk.
Zim scurried out of the room to quickly lose himself in the crowd of much taller humans. Even with the growth hormones he was still incredibly short, but that would soon change. He smirked as he made his way out of the school and ran all the way home, having just barely enough time to get to work after quickly changing and giving his SIR unit a few chores to do while he was gone.
Dib glared at the alien coming into his room much like he had the day before and the day before that, but now for a totally different reason.

He stared at his alien nurse with wide eyes. All of the color his face might have possessed was suddenly washed away in his tensed, fearful state.
"What was that?" Zim asked, trying to look behind the boy's back.
Dib shook his head quickly to show that it was nothing, and lightly with his fingers pushed the lolli-pop stick under his pillow without moving his arm too much. He gave Zim a reassuring smile and shrug and he grabbed his book and began looking through it once more as if this never happened, despite what his heart said about this.

Dib rolled his eyes and sighed before a smirk played their way against his lips. He let go of his momentary anger at the other to sit up more comfortably and ask in sign to the other, "What?"
Zim walked over to the bed and pulled a bag of color-coated, bite-sized pieces of chocolate from behind his back to show Dib proudly.

Dib read his sign language book joyously, and looked up at the clock after every sentence explaining the motions one was suppose to do. He was happy. "Hey," Came the breathless voice of the alien nurse from the door way only a few minutes later, book bag stuffed full of home work he had to do but was going to ignore so he could teach Dib to sign.
Dib smiled calmly at his nurse, a smile that was meant to hide the greater smile begging to be shown. He gave a small wave of his hand before settling it back on his lap. He looked down at the book and back at the alien.

It was the dreaded day; the dreaded day for Dib.
Dib paced back and forth in the room. His fingers were tangled in his mess of black hair. He was being released today! His father would come for him, and he'd be taken home. That was one step closer to school the very next day. The day he'd be forced to go to school.

Dib happily sat in his bed, his fingers twiddling together. He stared at his door eagerly, knowing today was the day he could eat real food.
But, today, he wasnt just going to have any food, either. Today he was going to get taco's from Zim. Dib looked back at the candy still on his desk. He had picked through them all night as he sat alone, but today was different. He'd be able to eat just like Zim.
For him to eat real food is to say Dib was fully healed and back to normal exactly aside from the fact he could no longer speak. Still, however, it felt overwhelming and great for him to take a step up- and for Zim to present that step for him with a taco.
Zim ran up the stairs to the fourth floor where Dib was, not wanting to wait for the slow elevator, hoping to make up for the time he took getting tacos on the way to the way to work.

The rest turned into garbled nonsense, but he paused, as if he were waiting for an answer now.

Dib’s hurried pace soon slowed to a steady walk as he got closer to Zim’s base. He delayed getting there as he was both afraid and nervous of what he may find here. He drew in a deep breath, whispering unsure words of encouragement before starting closer towards it.
Zim's base looked pretty similar on the outside, except for where his gnomes keeping his house protected had been destroyed. Though, it did seem to have an eerie aura around it which was something that hadn’t been present in the past.

After several minutes of just staring at the computer in complete terror, Dib turned to the platform and headed towards it. Now he had an answer as to what happened and why Zim was behaving like he was. The better question was, would he regret seeing that though; seeing the complete self-destruction of his now former worst enemy and now current worst nightmare?
The thing that made seeing that video so traumatizing was that he had actually grown to some what care about Zim. After several more minutes of watching everything around him, he had finally convinced himself that he was alone now, which actually relaxed him and made him realize how tired he actually was. It was too late to try and sleep now though since he had to get ready for another dreadful day of school.

However, it was enough to make the boy groan in both agony and nausea, but the smell didn’t seem to stop him from hobbling to his bed and allowing himself to collapse upon it.

People went from being distasteful and scowling at him, to almost frightened and concerned for the boy. He'd been progressing so quickly to lunacy lately that some people believed it was time he saw someone about it.
This thought of going to see someone though seemed to be out of the question in Dib’s mind. His house had proven to be just as dangerous a place to be now, and after seeing how easily and quickly Zim could infiltrate it, he realized he would never feel at peace inside of it. I honestly didn’t care much. I wanted to see if it would work. I wondered for a second on why he didn’t just steal a human if that’s all he needed. He hated asking for someone’s help so why not take someone against their will?
Just as all these question jumbled through my spinning head I glanced over at Zim. He was so pinned up in the tube. His shoulders were tightly pressed near his head in a clinch, almost as

Through the damned tangles of the cottony-earthly torturous clothing, I could hear the door open. I tugged off the hooded cloth swiftly to see the Dib human staring idiotically at the door, pizza and chocolate in hand. I knew as soon as I saw him I shouldn’t have left the field offline. He babbled about getting the food and sorry for one thing or another, but everything he said seemed to spill out of his mouth more than actually speak about anything. I could feel his eyes on my chest and it was starting to make me panic from his lack of attention. Grabbing a hold of his large broad shoulders and gave him a few strong shakes, bringing him back to the filthy planet from wherever his mind had hid away. My toe talons were at the very tip as I reached to clasp ahold of him. He had gotten so much taller, the bastard.
When he woke up and began to be a little more normal I instructed him to sit down on the couch unit and took my clothes with me to a close

That's how long it had been since that faithful day he'd stepped into our seventh grade classroom. Black hair, green skin, not to mention no ears or a nose. I knew almost instantly he wasn't human, I mean, really, it wasn't that hard to see. Or so I thought. Apparently the rest of my classmates thought the opposite. A 'skin condition' he'd claimed to have and they lapped it up like a dog sucking pitifully up to its master for a bone. Gullible and naiveté. That was all our society was. And that was all it would ever be.
Of course, they thought nothing more of me than the 'crazy' kid, so in a way I wasn't surprised when they'd turned on me and my opinions. It wasn't like they mattered. Who listens to the insane kid that's obsessed with the paranormal and seeing ghosts and aliens?
First they ignore you, then laugh at you and hate you. Then they fight you, then you win.

Gripping my bookbag tight, I turned to leave the classroom. The morning sex-ed lesson had seemed to go on forever and it didn't help that Sowourz had insisted we pair up to work on some of the questions. I hadn't been paired with Zim (thank god, I can only imagine how that would have went) but that didn't stop the obnoxious green alien from demanding answers from other students. Half the morning he had spent twisting around in his chair and slamming his fists onto desks, yelling loud enough for the students on the opposite end of the school to hear, about how 'hyooman's' were lax and 'stoopid' that they actually needed to learn about this 'stuff.'
I had smirked again at that, asking him if he'd ever learned about sex-ed on Irk, to which he yelled 'I AM FROM EARTH! I AM NORMAL!' in an attempt to bypass the question.
Now I headed towards my locker. Zim's was right across from mine on the opposite side of the corridor, strangely enough. We didn't share homeroom, but

Dib could feel the other's fake eyes following him, watching his every move as he packed up the last of the gym volley balls into there bags, and he couldn't help but wonder why. Why was it that fate was so cruel towards him? Ever since he'd first entered high-school, it seemed every teacher he came into contact with was drawn towards pairing him up with his worst enemy, as he currently was right now. Not that it really mattered when the green menace just sat back and watched.
"You know, you COULD help me with some of this, you jerk." he said, picking up the first bag of volley balls to move them over towards the equipment room.
After an intense gym period in the close to freezing-cold basketball court, their gym teacher had assigned THEM to pack up all the equipment and move it back before heading home. A few weeks shy of the winter break, Dib just wanted to get out of the school's required gym clo

Zim tried not to feel anxious as he continued to wash himself.
"Oh, shut up, Zim! You know very well I asked you to keep a shower running for me before you left the gym! How was I supposed to know you were still using it?! Besides, I thought you hated water! So why haven't you gone home yet?!" Dib snapped right back at the other, peeking out from behind the curtain of his shower to have a look around, contemplating ducking behind various shower curtains until he could reach the towels on the other end of the room.
Chancing a quick glance over at the shower Zim was still standing behind, he took a deep breath before darting out to make a quick dash for the shower curtain closest to his own. He then did the same with the next one and then the next one, drawing ever closer to his prize. When he was about two showers away from where he could see the folded up towels however, he felt his foot slipping against the wet tile floor as he made another mad dash for one of the curtains.

Dib rolled his eyes. Of course Zim would be going off again. This time was no different to the last, except instead of rambling on about the cafeteria food giving him blisters, he was directly addressing the cafeteria drone herself. She ignored him of course, barely casting an eye towards the green 'child' directly in front of her, let alone every other student in the cafeteria for that matter.
How could they not see? Even after a two years of the same nonsense. Dib had at least expected something to change. But no. He was still picked on. Still known as the crazy kid with no friends. The paranormal freak.
Putting his hand to his chin, Dib slowly ate his cafeteria food, trying to blot out the noise of Zim's raspy voice, but it was no good. He could still hear it ringing throughout his head. He almost envied how the other students could block Zim out so easily. He just wouldn't shut up.

I woke up early the next morning. My alarm wasn't set to go off for another twenty minutes. I tried closing my eyes to get some more shut eye before school, but I was too awake to go back to sleep. Yawning, I kicked back the covers and pulled myself out of bed. Reaching for my glasses beside me, I slipped them on and my blurry vision soon focused.
I let out a sigh.
Today I would have to work on the project with Zim. I wondered if he'd done any of the research I suggested and stifled back a laugh as I could just imagine the reaction he would have had on his face after finding out what 'sex' involved.
"You're up early." came a voice. I turned towards my door to see Gaz standing there. She was already dressed for the day in her usual attire of a black dress and striped purple and black tights. She glared at me and I could see her new GameSlave in her hand.
"Why was Zim here yesterday anyway? I passed him on the way back from the mall. He looked kinda spaced out."

I kicked at a stone, or so the hyoomans had called it, with my foot as I made my way back to the base. I was perturbed yet also intrigued by the Dib-hyooman's odd behaviour towards me today. First he stares at me, and then he tries to touch my hair covery thing as well. What was his problem? Maybe he thought I was making the whole project thing up.
Truth is, I wasn't. That old hyooman by the name of Sowourz really had approached my superior form and requested this 'project' be completed. I hadn't told the Dib what date she wanted it by yet, but heh, he could figure that out for himself in that huge head of his. I'm sure there was some form of brain within it.
As I approached the base I found GIR sitting on a pile of dirt, a little flag on top bearing the Irken Command logo. Of course, as soon as he saw me, he leaped up and flew at me, knocking me to the ground.

Those are some of the words an Irken smeet learns as soon as its PAK become functional. I remember when I first heard these words, I had always wondered what they meant. Other Irken's seemed to understand them right away, but not me. Nope, not Zim.
Whenever I had asked my Tallests about these words they had acted weird towards me. Not in the usual weird way they act because of my superiority but because of something else I could never figure out in my amazing head. Other Irken's called me hurty words and laughed at me. Apparently these words were important to all Irken's and the whole Empire. But I had always wondered why. Quite often I had heard the word the Dib-shit had just called me, mostly mentioned when I was near my Tallests, or high-ranking Irken's, but I had never realized it may have been directed towards me. He knows I've been going out with someone. And he thinks you're a very nice, smart person. He's my father; he's going to accept me no matter what."
"Well, okay but if something bad happens, I'm blaming you," Zim said, finally walking on his own. He pulled his arm out of Dib's grip and folded them across his chest.
"And we're going to tell him the whole truth," Dib went on as he opened the door.

Everything is on fire. The skool, the buildings, my house . The world .
I'm standing in the street watching the chaos. A half-dead man crawls towards me. He looks up and reaches to me. "Help me!" he pleads. I would, but he is already dead at my feet. I back away.
I tried, I really did. But I guess it wasn't enough. This is all Zim's fault! He did this! I tried to stop him, I always have, but the world thought I was crazy! They called me insane! Now they believe me and the world is ruled by Zim and the Irken race.
I fall to my knees and cry out in pain. The blood seeps down my back, from the wound Zim created.
"You should have left, Dib. Now you are dead!" Zim cackles. "Mwah hahahahahahahahahaha!"
Dib wakes up scared and sweat staining the bed. He searches in the dark to find his glasses. When he does he checks the time. 6 o'clock. He should be getting up now anyways, so he goes downstairs to get some cereal.
He shuffles down the stairs and goes into the kitchen. Gaz is alread

It has been two weeks since the friendship was made official. And every night Dib would dream off all the good things that would happen to Zim but never the bad.
He dreamt of the good times they had together, and what Zim eats and all the silent hugs Zim has with Gir. He dreams of the times when Zim goes out to steal those Chaco Tacos for Gir. He dreams of the times when Zim only fells good inside and he feels these good, warm, fuzzy feelings to.
Zim often talks to Gir, about past times and things that have happened before Gir and Zim met and Dib dreamt about these conversations. Almost all of them He is still oblivious to Zim leaving, or the mission, or the girls in which Zim has to save.
Dib does, in fact, know of Zim's Brother Dax, dead sister Zeema, his Parent-units, family-unit, the Tallest and many other things of his life. But anything to do with the mission or the girls is, for some reason, blocked.
Dib now knew Zim better, he knew of the mistakes he has made, the w

Dib walked straight to his room when he got home, to cover up all the cameras, hand cuffs and Alien hurting devices he had stored there. He didn't want to scare Zim away. Why? He still didn't know, he just figured Zim would leave if he saw the lasers, choking devices, many hand cuffs, plans to stop Zim's plans and spying equipment.
When he was done throwing the junk in his closet, under his bad, in his drawers and anywhere else the stuff could fit, he went down stairs to make him and Gaz afternoon snacks; he didn't want Zim to see him eat, considering Zim doesn't eat.
Zim entered his base, only to be crashed down by a flying Gir.
"MASTER!!! I MISSSSED YOU!!! Did you miss MEEE?!?!"
"Get off Gir!" Zim pushed the robot off. Gir just bounced off happily to the kitchen.
Zim walked over to the couched and sat, down. "Gir! Did My Tallest call while I was at skool today?"
"YES! Wait a minute . NO!" the robot bounded in with a block of cheese and sat down by Zim. He pulled a cheese grader

Through the first week Dib and Gaz came to see Gir routinely. After the first week was over, they took him home with them. Ever since Zim left, Dib blamed himself, and went into a small depression. He didn't talk to anyone but himself, Gaz and Gir; but mostly himself. Dib stopped chasing after other paranormal, because it reminded him of the fun he had with Zim. Gir regularly checked up on the house, and no intruders ever came.
Dib would look through his very special telescope, and try to find Zim ever night. He sent echo waves through space, from one of his dad's machines, asking for forgiveness and pleading for Zim to come home. He never got an answer.
By the fifth week of summer he started getting desperate, and started writing letters. Short ones and tied them to balloons and let them free. After about a week of sending hundreds of letters, he stopped sending them, but kept writing. Every week he would go with Gir to Zims house, and leave the letters in Zim's house. Dib never gave

Zim thought about what he read. He re-read it over and over again in his mind. 'Maybe this is why I shouldn't have friends But Gaz never hurt me I guess it's not all bad.' Zim thinks to himself. Zim did, in fact, hear the 'Wait!' Dib shouted, but he ignored him. Zim was on the couch and Gir was asleep in his lap. It has been an hour since he left and Dib has called him repeatedly since he left. Zim had also got word that skool was to end on Tuesday, not Friday; so Zim only had two days until he leaves for his mission.
'I guess I'm going to skip skool tomorrow. I really don't want to see Dib.' Zim decided. He then went to sleep, and went through dreams; not to wake until Tuesday morning...
Dib was at home and attempting to call Zim again. "Hello! This is the MIGHTY ZIM! I'm not home right now, filthy meat bag! So leave a message and maybe I won't totally ignore you!" Beeep!!!

Zim couldn't wait to go to this sleepover. Exciting! He had told Gir he was coming, and Gir jumped with glee.
Dib had given a note to Zim listing everything that he needed to bring to the sleepover, after skool.
1. Sleeping bag.
3. Night goggles
6. Silver bullet
7. Small sleeping bag for Gir
Zim had looked up before what a sleeping bag was and he now knew what it is used for. He had called the computer and told it to make two sleeping bags during skool.
Now, at home, he packed what was needed. He put the bullet, goggles, stake, and radio in his PAK. He put the Garlic in a bag and put it in his PAK. Then asked the computer where the sleeping bags were.
The computer dropped the two perfectly made sleeping bags. One was blue like Gir's eyes, with a black Irken symbol on the front and the other, the one for Zim, was red and had the Irken symbol on the front. Zim grabbed the bags and went to the elevator. He went down to his room and hurried and got a pair

Zim walked outside with the rest of the class. Outside, Zim breathed deeply in the air. Skool would be ending right after recess and Zim didn't want to waste his time. He walked to the fence and watched the humans play around him. He waited for Dib, watching the door constantly. While doing this, he suddenly knew he was being watched, and not just at a distance. He froze, but didn't let his eyes waver from the door.
"Aren't you leaving today?" A harsh, female voice said beside him.
Zim didn't look away from the door. He leaned on the fence and crossed his arms. "Yaeh. Why do you care?"
"I don't. I just had to know if you were leaving. It hasn't left Dib's mind. That you're going on 'vacation', I mean. You know what? You sicken me." Gretchen stared at Zim.
Zim still stared at the door. "I don't care. You sicken me as well. I don't know what your problem is, but don't mess with me. You don't know what you're messing with."

Dib walked into school by himself on Monday morning. No sister; no best friend. Dib felt alone and sad. He felt as if everyone was looking at him; he felt as if every whisper was about him; that every laugh was turned to him. He felt that everyone knew what happened and was blaming him for it.
Dib walked into his classroom five minutes before the bell and sat in his seat. A girl with purple hair and braces, known as Gretchen, came up to him. "What's wrong, Dib?"
Dib looked into her eyes. He looked away as he spoke, "I did something horrible and I think I severed my friendship with Zim. He probably hates me now and I can't do anything about it!" Dib could take back the words that left his mouth; though he wished he could. He looked down at his desk as the tears came back; he tried hard to keep them from falling.
Gretchen then got suddenly angry. She looked at Dib and glared at Zim's seat.

Dib was reluctant to go to skool on Tuesday morning, he was sure Zim wouldn't be there. It was the last day of skool though, so maybe he should go. He also wanted to sneak a peek at Gretchen; to see if she acts suspicious.
He still couldn't believe that Gretchen might know Zim's an alien. He decided to go ahead to skool.
Zim was at skool five minutes before the bell. Dib was nowhere in sight, so Zim just sat down in his seat. He felt a cold glare at his back. He began to get restless and nervous. The icy stare from an unknown watcher blistered his back. He was frozen upright; like he couldn't move at all. Finally he got control of himself and he turned around to see who was watching him.
Once he looked into the soulless eyes of a young girl, obviously angry with him, he became scared in the least bit. He quickly turned back and stared at the board, a tense and scared expression upon his face. The bell was two minutes away, and Zim was close to the point where he would click the 'Self d

"An SOS? Like a boat?"
Dib frowned, as he finally noticed the pink specks of Zim's blood on his jacket. Not to mention that stickiness of his own and Julio's blood. Gold eyes shot up to the driver and he swallowed.
"No. I-It's not a traditional SOS. It's in Irken." Pale violet lids fluttered shut as he fought to pronounce it correctly. "Silvit Ore Sonhule." The words rolled off his tongue effortlessly. The language was a beautiful one.

A shaky hand ran itself through tangled dark locks. Contacting powerful leaders and looking like road kill was about as humiliating as it got. But, still he knew it didn't matter.
"For Zim." Dib whispered, frowning down at the screen, as it splashed bleaching blue color on his already pale skin. The loading bar reached 100 and with a final ominous beep he was shown the Tallest's control room where the two leaders sat, chins lifted, dressed in heavy armor as if awaiting an attack at any second. Perhaps part of the problem was fear, for what the Tallest would say upon seeing a worthless human contacting them. But, more than anything it was the fact that while in the car, spilling his guts out to a stranger that Dib finally noticed something that had been in essence building for most of his life.
Everything made so much more sense now that he'd said it out loud. Every syllable had sunk into his brain as he'd sat in that backseat, repeating over and over. The pain relived.
Having only Zim as an enemy and perhaps it had formed into more of a convoluted companionship. Nothing had changed when they'd married. Not that he'd had much time to get used to it, but it felt normal as always.

"So, you went up to his room?" Sounded like a stupid question to him, but something obviously needed to be said as encouragement to keep the boy going. It worked, because Dib nodded, albeit reluctantly and cleared his throat, as if it pained him.
"Well, we went up, Zim flirting with Julio the entire time, or at least the best version that someone like Zim could do, Kind of cheesy and moronic. Still it was pretty convincing." Shifty eyes glanced out the dewed window. The sun was beginning to rise he noted. The sky was kind of a pretty, maroon color. And that had him thinking all over again of Zim's eyes. Bill kept looking in the rearview mirror at his passenger, eyebrows furrowed in a silent question. This particular boy looked so familiar. The golden eyes and long eyelashes. Pale skin and not so subtle scars. Tall, gawky and too thin body.
Quite suddenly, a big flash of memory hit him like a car crash. That night so long ago it felt. The night where his life as a boring old cabbie had been irrevocably altered to revolve around a distraught teenager and his friend.

"W-Why uh why were we in bed together?" Dib squeaked. Zim shrugged and slid out much more gracefully.

It was cut open, blood dripping into a contained container around the table. A clean white sheet, all but soaked. One of the scientists said something behind his mask and they all laughed. Dib couldn’t remove his eyes from the glistening organs, the limp limbs that poked from the sheet.
That had haunted him in his dreams ever since and today was the same. Except for the fact that Dib was 19 now and the subject wasn’t under a sheet with scientists laughing around his dead body. Yet. Instead it was locked in a giant clear cube. It had a bed and a toilet but little else.
And the subject wasn’t human. That was clear right away. Dib felt his eyes widen and his curiosity pique immediately. He was following his father who was talking to another fellow scientist. He

When Dib finally calmed down, aside from a few stray chuckles, he kneeled and whistled.

A whole day had passed and Dib was going to relapse. Not from any drug or drink but, from being around Zim. He'd become so used to yelling at his idiotic antics and actually smiling, laughing. Dib had tried to drink hot chocolate but it left him feeling lonely.
Then he listened to sappy music, but that only made him feel whiney and stupid.
The hours had passed, and eventually the sun set normally, except it bounced off the newest snow.
It was also different because the teenager was sitting on his roof, arms wrapped around his knees as he stared up at the skies. Normally he was inside and on his laptop or at Zim's. Unbeknownst to Dib a sigh escaped, the fog from his breath fading slowly.
"Dib!" His sister's voice had him shuddering more than the cold. "Dad's burning some of our old Christmas stuff. You better come get anything that you don't want to be completely demolished for warmth."
