Chapter 2: Barricade
The next day, Celestia's sun rose over Equestria. Spike, against his wishes, was slowly walking his way over to Fluttershy's home on the outskirts of town. Both Twilight and Fluttershy insisted that Spike take a day off from his extensive work in the library. The dragon, on the other hoof, wanted to continue with his work, but he saw no real point in trying to argue.
Arriving at the pegasus's cottage, Spike took a deep sigh before he knocked on the door.
The door was opened by a yellow mare with a long, flowing pink mane, "Oh, good morning, Spike." Fluttershy's voice was inviting and warm.
"Hey, Fluttershy. I came by as I promised you and Twilight," Spike's response was slightly bitter. He really wasn't in the mood to 'take a break', as they would put it.
"Please come on in. I have a number of things ready to help you unwind and loosen up," the pegasus stepped aside to allow the small dragon inside.

Chapter 1: Borrowed Time
A lazy Sunday afternoon was settling over Ponyville. Most of the residents of the town were either relaxing at their home or spending time with their friends. One creature, however, was busy as could be in the Ponyville library. The small purple dragon seemed to be pulling more than his fair share of weight, cleaning and organizing all of the shelves in the library. Not even the voice of a purple unicorn could stop him.
"Honestly Spike, you can call it a day. You've been working a lot for the past week as it is," Twilight Sparkle pleaded with her assistant.
"No can do, Twilight. I still got to reorganize the magic section after your last late night study session. Then I still have to clean the shelves in the fiction section after Rainbow Dash stopped by," Spike stood on top of a stool, shelving book after book into their proper locations. He seemed to be very content with his job of returning each book t

Chapter 3: Just Like Honey
In the now vacant cottage, Spike looked at Fluttershy. The yellow pegasus already had one tear roll down her cheek. Her body was still trembling from Spike's shouting. It seemed as if she had something to say, but she was so shaken from the incident that even if she had the words, she would more than likely have more tears fall.
The dragon looked away from the mare, immediately regretting his action. With his scales on end, he spoke, "I-I .I'm sorry, F-Fluttershy ." Spike couldn't bear to look at Fluttershy, even for a moment, "I-I .didn't mean to yell at you ."
The yellow mare took a few deep breaths to calm herself down. After wiping a few tears from here eyes, she finally spoke, "It's okay, Spike."
Spike, still with his head turned, shook his head, "No .it's not .I had no right to burst out like that ." With a few blinks of his eyes, he alright had a couple tears i

Chapter 4: Stop Draggin' My Heart Around
Celestia's sun was just beginning the go down in the east after another day of work at Sweet Apple Acres. Applejack was slightly troubled with her work during the day. This due to her recent revelation. Almost 24 hours beforehoof, the orange mare came to the conclusion that she was fond of Spike the dragon. Despite her persistent mind thinking about the dragon, Applejack continued with her chores, including the barreling in the barn that she was doing when the purple dragon stopped by.
"Hey Applejack! I'm really sorry that I'm late! I had to help Twilight and I totally lost track of time!" Spike rushed through the open doors.
Applejack was a bit caught of guard by his sudden appearance, "Huh?! Oh, howdy there, Spike. No need to fret. Just figured ah'd get started before ya got here."
"Well, seems ya didn't need me all that much," Spike commented, noticing that the pony was close to f

Applejack continued to watch the clouds roll by in the sky. With a heavy sigh, the orange pony's stare into the blue sky was accompanied with thoughts about Spike. She couldn't help but think about him.
'Why am ah so caught up with Spike? He's just a little dragon. Granted, quite cute, but he's jus' a little guy, Applejack closed her eyes before continuing in her thoughts, It's jus' plain weird though. With Spike bein' so chummy and comfortable with me, it felt really nice.'
"Maybe ah'm jus' out of it right now," Applejack spoke aloud to herself, keeping her eyes closed.
"Well, of course you are, Applejack, your frown isn't upside down!" a cheery voice blurted out.
The startled orange mare opened her eyes quickly to see the upside down head of Pinkie Pie a few inches from her own. "Wah! Uh .Pinkie?"

Chapter 1: Rotten Apples
It was a warm and pleasant day at Sweet Apple Acres. On the farm, there was an orange mare working hard amongst the grove of trees. She seemed to not be performing at her peak. It was if something was bothering her, and yet she didn't seem to know what it was. With a sigh, she continued and got lost in her work.
Her attention was turned from her work when a friend of hers trotted by on the nearby path.
"Hello there, Applejack!" a cheerful voice called out.
"Oh, howdy, Twilight. An' same ta ya, Spike," Applejack replied, looking up to the purple unicorn and the purple dragon that was riding on her back, "what brings ya'll to this neck of the woods?"
Twilight answered, "I need to pick a few apples for later."

Chapter 2: Blue Sky
After completing the applebucking, Applejack and Spike were lying down on the grass. The orange mare and purple dragon were close as they looked up to the partly cloudy sky. A gently breeze was slowly pushing the clouds across the blue atmosphere, causing the two to point out the shapes.
"Hey Applejack, that one looks like a top hat!" Spike pointed up to the sky.
"Yer right, it kinda does. That one there looks like some kinda animal, like a rodent or somethin'," Applejack pointed to a different cloud.
Spike had trouble seeing what the pony saw, "I guess it kinda does. Maybe if it's super fat or something like that!" he then laughed at his own comment.
Applejack couldn't help but smile, "There's a few there that look like a bunch of apples."
Spike laughed again, "Of course you'd notice that, Applejack!"

Chapter 5: You
Celestia's sun shined down upon Ponyville. It was a warm and pleasant day for all the ponies that were out and about. One blue pegasus, however, was a bit uneasy as she flew towards the library. Rainbow Dash, who convinced herself the night before to follow her friend's advice about being forward with her feelings, was in a panicky state. She couldn't help but feel nervous. Dash never had to tell anypony how she felt about them, and most of the time she didn't feel a need to. But now, she was given the task to tell Spike how she felt about him.
'Coming on, Rainbow Dash! You can do this. I mean, its just Spike, right? What's the worst that can happen? He's a little shrimp and it's no big deal if he finds it weird, right?' the pegasus repeatedly tried to calm herself, but to no avail. She didn't have enough time to as she arrived at the library's front door. Taking a deep breath, she knocked at the do

"Rainbow Dash? Hello? Anypony home?" Spike called to the pony, waving his claws in the air in hopes of getting her attention.
The blue pegasus was snapped out of her thoughts by the dragon's voice, "Huh, wha?"
"I was saying that I need to go and run some errands and pick some things up before Twilight gets back tomorrow morning. Will you be alright if I leave you here by yourself?" the dragon repeated his question that Dash didn't hear.
"Oh, uh, you know what, why I don't I help ya out? Ya know, so you don't have to carry all of that stuff alone," Rainbow quickly added the second part to give her a reasonable excuse to go with him.
Spike nodded, "Alright, that will be really helpful for me!"
Rainbow Dash hopped off the sofa and walked with Spike out of the library and to the Ponyville marketplace. As they walked, Spike started some small talk between himself and the blue pony.

Chapter 1: Turn The Page
Celestia's sun was shining down on Ponyville, giving a warm afternoon feel for the residents. While most of the ponyfolk were relaxed, there was one light blue pegasus who was racing towards her destination. It was Rainbow Dash, whose multi-colored mane was a blur to anypony who saw her. Finally landing in front of the Ponyville library, she checked the saddlebag on her back, double-checking to make sure it had not fallen off mid-flight, which it had a tendency to do. After her examination, she knocked on the door.
"Just a second!" a muffled voice from inside called out.
"No rush," Rainbow Dash replied to the voice. While she wasn't in a hurry, almost everything in her life was some sort of race or competition. It's how she was.
After what felt like eternity to the blue mare, the door was opened. Expecting to see her purple unicorn friend, Dash saw a small purple and green dragon.

Chapter 4: You May Be Right
The next morning, Rainbow Dash woke up at her home in Cloudsdale. She dragged herself to the window of her room to find that Celestia's sun was high in the sky, meaning it was the afternoon. Scratching her head and unkempt mane with one of her hooves, she trotted to the restroom so she could have a quick shower. Her face was one that lacked apparent emotion. Inside of her head, Dash was still asking herself the question she could not answer the night before. Did she really have a crush on Spike?
She thought about it more as she showered, 'What is with me? I mean, this is Spike, we are talking about. The egghead's little assistant. Sure he's cute in his own weird way, but he's not really that great .is he?' Rainbow was unable to answer her own question. With a frustrated grunt, she turned the water off and stepped out to dry herself off, 'I need something sweet to calm me down'

Apple Bloom held a beaker of orange liquid in her mouth very precariously, ready to drop it over a flask filled with a bubbling purple liquid.
"Easy, easy, and NOW!"
Scrunching her eyes shut, Apple Bloom tilted the beaker and let the liquid fall into the flask. A spark lit up the room for a split second as a faint green cloud arose from the flask, before fading into the air. The liquid, which had now turned a deep red, bubbled furiously for a few seconds before quickly subsiding.
"Coooooool!" exclaimed all of the Cutie Mark Crusaders.
"Your turn now, Sweetie Belle!" said Apple Bloom, nudging Sweetie Belle.
"Okay!" With a wide grin on her face, she grabbed another beaker full of green liquid and poured it in.
"No, wait! Don't" Scootaloo began.

These thoughts all stung in Rarity's head as she leaned over her three-mirror platform, sobbing profusely.
Fighting the tears, she bristled her hoof across the purple flowers on the table, the same flowers that she had gazed upon after an argument she had with Sweetie Belle about not wanting to attend the Sisterhooves Social.
"I should've talked to her as soon as I had the chance," she lamented out loud. "I could've stopped this from happening. If I had just stepped in earlier! Hmm that is most interesting though, that she was in love with Spike all along."
After thinking about it for a moment however, she put her hoof to her forehead. "Oh, listen to yourself, Rarity! Of course she was in love with Spike the whole time! How could I have been so blind? Here, I thought that <i>

Celestia's sun rose once more, beginning what for now seemed like another ordinary day. Everyone was having a peaceful awakening in Ponyville, having experienced good, pleasant dreams in their sleep last night.
All except for one.
"No! No, please! Don't do this to me! I promise I'll be a good sister! I promise!"
The fashion designer tossed and turned violently in her sleep, her legs pushing Opal right off the bed. The cat bitterly hissed at her owner before retreating to the basket bed she so loathed.
"Just stay with me a little longer, we can work this all out! Please, Sweetie Belle! You don't need to go live with mother and father in Fillydelphia! Just listen to me! Don't hate me!"
She sat up in bed, screaming at the top of her lungs. "NOOOOOOOOOO!"

The Cutie Mark Crusaders had gone out to their lockers to bring in their special gift for Cheerilee, whilst Silver Spoon was near the door, tapping her hoof impatiently.

How do you start one of these stories? It's another fine day in Equestria? It's a dark and stormy night in Equestria? No, that's not right. There has to be some other way to start this story without it being a cliche. This particular story deserves an introduction more appropriate. So much occurred that just starting off with a line like "once upon a time" just seems degrading. How do I make it work? Celestia's sun was high in the sky and the citizens of Ponyville partook in their communal duties. Nope. I feel like I've read that line before...many times. Luna's moon produced a radiant glow upon the quiet Ponyville. Nah. That doesn't look right either. Oh, I got it! How about this?
Spike and Rainbow Dash were friends.
Yeah, I like it better now.
Anyway, Spike and Rainbow Dash were friends. Good friends, in fact. Besides the truth that the two were tied to the Elements of Harmony, they also had many common likes and interests. Both had a grand sense of humor, and that fact definitely ai

The brilliant orb of night irradiated the largely unexplored mountains. Surrounded by its countless children of twinkling stars, the lustrous moon rested upon a canvas of infinite expanse. An entire universe lay beyond a cover of black and white, and the mysterious nature of it all entranced a baby dragon and pegasus. On a secluded cliff deep in the foothills of Equestria, Spike and Rainbow Dash sprawled out onto their backs and lied upon a cold surface of rock. Jutting out from a significant height, the precipice enjoyed total isolation from artificial lighting. The lack of such illumination allowed for an unobstructed view of the dazzling firmaments above. And as the two exhausted companions pointed to random constellations, attempting to guess their original titles and etymology, a period of serenity maintained a comfortable stillness. In the air there was only tranquility, and the nurturing effects sat well in Spike and Rainbow Dash's consciousness.
"Okay, look at that one." Spike

How does one continue a story like this? Ponyville's citizens enjoyed yet another day filled with serenity and uninterrupted harmony? Well, that's definitely not true. Sure, everypony desired to remain at peace within the very bounds of their refuge, but today wasn't particularly the day to depend on such expectations. Why? To put it simply: things went down. Big things.
The obvious reason as to why Ponyville would not experience an easygoing pass of the day certainly weighed upon two individuals. A baby dragon and an adult Pegasus, both maturing at equally progressive rates, were the direct cause for the future lack of understood coherence. Because these big things were going to lead to quite a ruckus. Discordance and incoordination would soon overwhelm the days to come, and I must be forthright in confirming the hilarity of it all.
Spike and Rainbow Dash were friends. That's already been agreed upon. Though it was this friendship that rocked Equestria like no other. Forget Nightmare

"I think everypony's watching us." Spike made aware, quickly releasing Rainbow Dash's hoof. "What do we do now?"
Rainbow's Dash's eyes lit up. "What? Because somepony's watching you're going to quit? Why don't you just admit you love me, and we can move on from this?"
"Not a chance, Dash." Spike tittered, pointing to the surrounding trees. "They're harmless. We still have a date to finish here."
"You know they're all here to witness my victory, right?" Rainbow Dash teased, blowing a kiss to Spike. "Now that I think about it, it's pretty obvious."
"We'll see." Spike handed the cup of punch to Rainbow Dash. "Here's your punch, cutie."
"Thank you ever so much, sugar-buns." Rainbow Dash countered swiftly. "Would you like some pie?"
"Sure, sweetie pie." Spike snickered at the pun, noticing Rainbow Dash's eye twitch in disgust

How does one expose the personal sentiments reserved by the subjects of this account? The many characters retained mixed emotions throughout the course of the game, and in the end confrontations broke out? No, that's just too modest of a retelling. Because certain desires had been brought to light. In the time it took to realize these passions, the red string of fate had already been plucked by the cosmic overseers of the universe. Thus, the simple acceptance of these longings initiated behaviors influential to the result of the bet. And when everything finally came together in a clash, a spectacular piece of history was recorded.
Of course, I could just tell you all how this story ended. I could probably do so with a short anecdote. I'd feel satisfied, because as I now recall, describing the copious accounts of frustrations, antagonisms and quixotic ventures embedded in the core of this tale would have my mood swinging vigorously. And in all actuality I'd like to avoid such an emotion
Spike's Rainbow Dash (Chapter Three)Spike's Rainbow Dash (Chapter Three) in Romance More Like This
How does one convey the ambitious nature of this epic? Spike and Rainbow Dash had a bet, and everypony took sides? No, that's just too simple. To make note of the many differentiating opinions, clashing sentiments and widespread involvement serving as the very core of this tale takes effort. Ponies, mules, griffons, unknown creatures and deities had put forth investments so vast the shock factor was near improbable. Profit was on the agenda, and beings across the lands of Equestria desired a piece of that scrumptious pie. Who wouldn't, though? A bandwagon traveled throughout and it was accepting anypony willing to board.
A certain pink pony had been preoccupied with the duty of keeping bets handed in by the gambling participants. In all truth, there was no other perfectly suited for the role of bookkeeper than Pinkie Pie. Her inherent energy and fortitude proved thoroughly beneficial when it came to collecting wages. "You're asking me out?" Rainbow Dash asked, suspicious of Spike's spontaneity.
"Yeah, I am." Spike confirmed with a nod. "I'm thinking a nice little picnic would be nice. How about it?"
"I don't understand." Rainbow Dash shook her head, confused. "Aren't you trying to fight me on this? I mean, don't get me wrong, going on a date would just bring me one step closer to victory, but I don't get why you're asking first."
Spike crossed his arms and snorted. "Who cares why I asked? If you're so set on making me fall for you, then you should just accept right away, right? What, are you scared now?"
Rainbow Dash's eyes thinned conspicuously, staring daggers. "I'm not scared of anything."
Rainbow Dash then put a hoof to her chest and announced assertively. "I accept! You're on, Spike! This is goi

The Grand Galloping Gala! Finally, it was here! The time has come to gather in celebratory fashion, relishing the spectacular luxuries bestowed upon those in attendance. The Royal Princess of the Sun hosted an annual ball for the upper-crust of Canterlot, and each year's event was just as magnificent as the previous one. Grandiose décor, gourmet foods, regal service and the noble melodies of classical performances stood as the most appreciated throughout the entire night. Of course, the Gala oozed exclusivity. Only those with special connections to the imperial family and those of great wealth were sent invitation, and as a result it always became a playground for elitist mingling. To be summoned by the coveted Golden Ticket was an opportunity unlike any other. It was the very treasure residents of Canterlot sought out for the whole of a year. And now it has come! The prodigious social affair has begun!

Spike's Rainbow Dash (Chapter Five)Spike's Rainbow Dash (Chapter Five) in Romance More Like This
How does one emphasize the bizarreness of this event? Spike and Rainbow Dash had a date, and everypony watched from the sidelines? Nope, that seems too artless, if you ask me. To sufficiently describe the oddity that is Spike and Rainbow Dash's date would take an extravagant amount of time. Time I happen to have. The very crux of their date was curious, to say the least. How one could recount the convention itself as a date is actually pushing the envelope pretty far. But, alas, the label remained, and the gambling spectators were forced to prepare themselves for the instigation of the romantic clash.
Although betting contributors by the thousands found themselves huddled together, learning of each other's identities, there were two partakers overseeing the entire challenge in anonymity. These unspecified members of the pool were none other than Equestria's most famous rulers, the Royal Princesses. Only Pinkie Pie knew of their involvemen

How do I recite the words of the chaotic? Many determined gamblers wanted a sure-fire method for success, so they all came up with ideas to interfere? Oh, if only that were the case. But as I remember there was much more to it than just the simple, disorganized offering of thoughts. There were councils, meetings, interventions and concentration circles relating to the bet initiated by Spike and Rainbow Dash. For an extravagant pot of bits sat comfortably at the end a shimmering rainbow, beckoning any willing to take a long, intense glimpse.
As the official bookkeeper, Pinkie Pie offered frequent, changeable odds to potential bettors. In order to efficiently inform the participants of the fluctuating nature of Spike and Rainbow Dash's game, the accountant applied mathematics and intermittent calculation to provide consistency in playing probabilities. It wasn't so difficult, because as an especially faithful overseer to the satisfaction of her customers, Pinkie Pie invested a grand disp

Spike was filled with dread at the thought of what could've been in that scroll. He felt he had done his friend, basically his only family, a terrible wrong. Twilight was still reading her book, not even giving Spike so much as a glance.

My Little Spike Ch.1It's a fairly normal day in Ponyville, as most of its residence goes through the day as any other. Applejack is in the townsquare selling apples, Derpy Hooves was up in the air finishing her rounds for the day, Spike was out running an errand for Twilight, and Twilight herself was at the library reading a book about transformative spells. My Little Spike Ch.1 in General Fiction More Like This
Sure, she had successfully transformed an apple into a carriage and, though temporary, a rock, branch, and a few leaves into a rather high-class outfit and cane; but, her attempt at changing four mice for the night of the Gala showed she still had much to learn. The book she was reading was one that specialized just for that. It was a book from the library at Canterlot, a book that Princess Celestia was a little more hesitant than usual to lend out to Twilight for her studies.
The book covered simple transformation spells that would be considerably simple for any unicorn, especially Twilight, but it also contained more complex maneuvers ones she felt

"Morning Twilight." he stated with a curious look as he gave as he looked over her. If it wasn't the tone of her voice, it would be her appearance that got his attention. While it was clear that Twilight had managed to sleep well enough last night, considering she didn't look at all tired, it seems like she had forgotten to groom her mane and tail before co

On her back, sat Spike, who was temporarily back to his dragon appearance and holding on to dear life.
After Twilight deemed that spell had actually past the certain point that Spike would've changed back to normal, she tried changing Spike back to normal herself, with only temporary results. She ended up draining a good portion of her energy just trying. She tried requesting help from Princess Celestia, but Spike couldn't do his fire breath so he couldn't send it and Owlicious was only for the night.
Now running through the town, Twilight was hoping if anything she'd get to Sweet Apple Acres before the spell on Spike wore off. Just as she was turning the corner to the barn, she bumped right into Applejack, throwing Spike right off her back.
My Little Spike Ch.3For the next couple of days Twilight continued her practice, making some progress here and there, but a permanent transformation only coming up every now and then, and even then she was only working with a random result. Spike had decided to not to pester Twilight whenever she needed a break from transformations, just to keep her content, and let her read other books for her own liking. Spike in the meanwhile had gone around to help their other friends, with mixed results. Helping Rarity, as much as he liked it, incidentally resulted in Rainbow finding a good reason to laugh for at least a few days. Rarity had convinced him, without any kind of difficulty, to modeling some of her newer designs, which only one was actually meant for young colts. Spike was a little un-easy about it, but decided to just shrug it off. In the meantime, he was once again left at Sweet Apple Acres, this time with Applejack. The Cutie Mark Crusaders had met up earlier to walk to school today and talk. Applejack had a guess where they would be after school from what she managed to hear, but it won't be for a little while. In fact, multiple times he's actually had Twilight change him into a pony for several reasons including taking a new perspective during holidays, trying some of the magic that he's seen Twilight perform, and give the Apple family a piece of mind when he's around Applebloom. They always seemed a bit more relaxed when he did, and it's only recently Applejack and Big Macintosh had begun to relax a bit more.

One such conflict was between the various inhabitants: Humans, Winglies, and Unimare. The Humans were the only ones who knew how to cultivate the land, and were greedy with the food they grew. They were clever, and they had to be with the other two races overpowering them. The Winglies are strong athletic warriors that believed they were angels incarnate due to their wings and military might. They were said to be able to control weather, which they used to their advantage. But even their might was rivaled by the magical talents of the Unimare. They were believed to be able to control the time of day, which they also used to their advantage. The entire island was owned by Kevin's rich and eccentric trainer friend, Xam, whom he met while fighting against the trainer N to change the fate of the world years ago.Evee Maids in Profiles More Like This
Samantha sighed as she took in the sights with a dreamy gaze, but then immediately shot a glare back at Kevin. "Why can't we ride around in such luxury all the time?!"
Her trainer groaned and slapped a palm to his face. "It's not like I'm paying for it. Xam invited us to a tournament he was having on this island, and arranged for us to stay at his estate while

Sometime later in the day, she was suddenly awoken by a loud booming noise. She was startled from her nap and wondered what happened for a second. Must've dosed off for longer than ah thought. Looks like the storm woke me up." She noticed that it was raining heavily. "Well, I sure as heck a'int goin' back to the house in this here downpour. "Have a nice day ma'am" Rarity said to the last customer as they left Carousel Boutique. She had a busy day today with making and fixing many dresses, tuxedos, and drawing up some new designs for future projects. She wiped the sweat from her forehead with her hoof. "Wow! This was one of the busiest days I've had in a while! So many customers and so many projects to do with such little time! Well, it will keep me busy for a while!"
She used her horn to take off her styling glasses and started clean up her work area. In a matter of minutes, everything was neatly set in place. Every piece of fabric and string was put back in their place and set nicely together. She heard hoofsteps off in the distance coming down the stairs. "Hi Sis!" Sweetie Belle greeted her older sister.
"Oh, hello Sweetie Belle." Rarity replied to her.
"Looks like you had a busy day today!"
"Yes, I did! It was exhausting! But I'm glad it's over for today. I'm sure it will be

Chapter Six: Comfort
Smokey set a towel wrapped around a chunk of snow upon Fluttershy's forehead to help reduce the fever. Even though the pegasus' shuddering body revolted against having anything cold touch her, she knew it was what she needed to fight the fever. Her painkiller had worn off and the dull throbbing in her hoof added to her misery.
The dragon retrieved another pain pill and a glass of water for her. "Here you are, Miss Fluttershy. Another painkiller for your hoof."
Removing the makeshift ice pack from her forehead, Fluttershy slowly sat upright. She accepted the proffered capsule and swallowed it down with the glass of water. Handing it back to the reptile, she snuggled back under the covers and replaced the cold press on her head.
"I'll go out and get you some medicine right away." Smokey brushed Fluttershy's cheek with the backs of his index and middle fingers. He wasn't too fon

Smokey's attention had been stolen from the still flustered pegasus when the baby griffin launched herself into his lap. He tilted his head downward and laughed as the white bundle slid down his kneeling leg. "Aw, am I not giving you enough attention, sweetie?"
The baby griffin batted an eagle foot at the dragon's descending hand in a playful manner. A chuckle escaped his throat and he gently rolled the tiny creature onto her back, scaly fingers scratching and prodding at the soft belly. The tickling sensations caused by the dragon sent the griffin into a fit of adorable high-pitched giggles. A glowing warmth pressed against the hearts of the dragon and the pony at the display.
She eventually escaped the clutches of the dragon's fingers and bounced several feet away, the playful glint still danced in her eyes. Throwing his dignity to the winds, Smokey dropped down on al

Chenoa squealed as Pinkie Pie swung her tail at the ball, lunging forth at the incoming object… and getting hit in the face. The chick halted briefly, but she laughed and batted back at the ball, unfazed from the gentle impact. Had Smokey seen it, it would’ve provoked his protective instincts. As of now, he was busied crushing the tomatoes and blending the ingredients for the sauce. Fluttershy, however, expressed prominent trepidation.
The equines exhaled on relieved sighs, having expected the baby to burst out crying. Giggling, Pinkie Pie bumped the ball back.
“Excuse me, Fluttershy,” Rarity began, her full attention on the addressed mare. “I had been mulling over something. Ever since I saw that sweet little chick yesterday, I was struck with inspiration! Perhaps developing a small line of clothing for little ones.”

Another dim winter morning fell upon Equestria, its sun taking a slivering peek over the horizon with an almost cheeky deliberation. The interior of the Everfree Forest was as pitch black as the night due to the low quantity of sunlight, but the creatures knew it was time to get up. As the small flock of doves hung back in their open cages, Ross took it upon himself to wake up the dragon sprawled out on the space next to Fluttershy and Chenoa--as he always did. He started by tiptoeing up to his nose, then turned around to tickle it with his cottony tail.
Scrunching up the bridge of his snout with a resounding high-pitched giggle, Smokey pulled his head away and rolled over…
Right off of the mattress.
The feeling of his scaly weight meeting the cold, hard stone floor jostled him out of his slumber. The draconic being couldn’t see much considering the dying cinders crackling in the blackened firewood was the

Chapter Three: Bonding
The dragon returned shortly after putting his medical supplies away, ambling into the kitchenette to wash his hands. As the mixture of warm water and soap coated his hands, splashing away any traces of bodily fluids, he turned his head into the direction of the yellow pegasus, offering her a gregarious grin. The mare half-turned her head away from him shyly. Finding the pony's bashfulness positively adorable, the reptile couldn't help but give a soft chuckle. After drying off his hands, he grabbed a ladle and a bowl from the overhead cabinet--though it wasn't much of an "overhead" cabinet considering the dragon's stature--and proceeded to fill it. After all, the home was built with ponies in mind.
He directed himself towards Fluttershy, taking great care to not spill the chowder as it swished about in the bowl with every movement he made. He slowly knelt in front of her and blew into the bowl just as he had done for the baby griffon.

As the cool evening swept in, Fluttershy stretched and yawned, rolling over… and squeaking lightly as she felt a large source of warmth beside her. Turning her head, she giggled softly. She had felt quite cozy as she slept, but she had thought it was thanks to the blanket. Seeing that Smokey had climbed in with her and Chenoa to further keep them safe and warm caused her to feel an even greater sense of gratitude and affection for him.
Her chest rising with warmth and heart beating a bit harder than usual, she leaned in to give him a light kiss on his cheek.
A wide grin spread itself across the sleeping dragon’s face at the touch of Fluttershy’s lips, a soft purr vibrating in his throat. His free ear frill twitched a couple times before he snuggled in closer with another purr.
Pulled out of her slumber, the baby griffon shifted between them, ro

“No, no, Chenoa. You must keep that on. It’s to keep you from having accidents.” Fluttershy plopped down on her haunches beside the baby and pressed lightly at the material with her good hoof. It was plush and certainly soft enough, but she figured the baby just simply was not used to wearing diapers.
The chick was instantaneously distracted by her adoptive mother, and subsequently pouted for a pair of moments that she wasn’t permitted to take off the white, fluffy thing enveloping the lower half of her body. While she understood the word "no", she had yet to learn her name. After those moments passed, she began to converse with Fluttershy about how much fun she had with the dragon in a series of babbles, coos, and giggles. During halfway, she laughed more frequently as her mind trailed back to the trouble she caused. Of course, her young mind had not classified her actions a

Smokey trudged through the snowy paths of Ponyville, occasionally tossing a friendly toothy grin as a few ponies he passed by. If only he hadn’t shown his gleaming white fangs in his grin, maybe he wouldn’t have been retaliated by such responding looks of fear. Though he was long used to such responses, a hope that had been long dead--a hope that out there were ponies who would accept him despite his draconic appearance--a hope that had been rekindled by Fluttershy.
Of course there existed ponies who would accept Smokey as a friend in a heartbeat. He had misfortune to thank for following him in his early years to the present. Misfortune guided him to the wrong ponies at the wrong times, crushing all hope of acceptance out of the winged reptile. Now, it didn’t matter if any more ponies accepted him. With the largest pot Smokey possessed filled with broth, sliced vegetables, and herbs simmering upon the wood burning stove set on low heat, he prepared meals for his animals. The dragon opened the left cabinet door to the storage space built in under the counter and reached in to retrieve one of two industrial-sized bags. One was filled with bird seed, the other had grass pellets. The clawed hand grasped onto the rolled up top of the seed feed first.
As the crinkling sounds of the bag's material reached the ear holes and registered themselves into the brains of all five doves, they immediately took to the air and gathered at the table, disturbing the rabbit. The leporidae grunted his displeasure at having his nap interrupted--especially since the content of his dream consisted of a massive garden of ripe carrots that exceeded his size multiple t

Squeals of bliss leaped from the child, delighting in the warmth of the water and the reaction the griffon received from it as she wriggled around. Splashing was fun! Her adoptive male guardian seemed to enjoy it, too. Why else would he be smiling and snickering every now and again?
The pink-maned pony settled back on the bed, rolling flat on her back and snuggled under the blanket. Closing her eyes lightly, she listened in as the sounds of the baby washing up drifted in from the adjacent room. The precious sounds emitting from the chick plastered a large smile on the equine throughout the duration of bath time.
Pulling the baby griffin out of the sink, Smokey reached underneath the cabinet underneath to acquire a towel. Wrapping her up in a cocoon of soft fabric, his scaly hands rubbed it into the little

The tiny unicorn squealed with delight as she gazed upon her surprise party. The backyard of the little cottage had been transformed into a veritable filly's wonderland. Several tables were laid out, covered in festive tablecloths and adorned with balloons. A mountain of colorfully wrapped gifts was piled in on one of them, and the rest were laden with large amounts of sweets. There was even a huge custom birthday cake, a real one, professionally prepared at Sugarcube Corner, instead of the muffin topped with a candle Dinky was used to receiving on her birthday.
Many of the fillies and colts from Dinky's class at school stood in the yard as well. Dinky immediately recognized the trio who called themselves the Cutie Mark Crusaders, as well as Pipsqueak, the new colt who had moved from Trottingham a few months earlier. "Nah," Breeze replied. "We've been at it all day," he glanced at the clock. "Literally. It must be a slow day for shipping in Equestria."
"Did anyone get assigned a job at all today?" Cloudcover asked.
"Yeah," said Breeze. "Haven't you noticed that we haven't seen Ditzy in a couple hours?"

"I hate being stuck here alone with Glow," Ditzy whispered back.
"Don't let her get under your skin," Breeze replied quietly. "You know she's usually just full of idle threats and empty insults."
Breeze got up and trotted over to the door. "Anyway, see ya'."

It was strangely quiet in the employee lounge at Equestria Speedy Shipping Services. The only sounds were the ticking of the wall clock, and the low, vibrating hum emitting from Watt, as was normal for him when he was actually sitting still. Glow and Cloudcover had already been sent on assignment, and, more worryingly, Ditzy hadn't shown up yet at all.
Breeze glanced once again at the clock. "Where in Equestria is Ditzy?" he asked absently to Watt. "She's been a little late before, but she should have been here over an hour ago."
"Maybe she's taking the day off," Watt suggested.
Breeze frowned. "Maybe. But I think she would have told me yesterday if she was planning to take vacation today."
Watt squinted, thinking hard. "Maybe she got abducted by spaceponies, then?"

"Hungry today, are we?"
Ditzy snapped out of her muffin trance, and turned to glance at the pony who had addressed her.
"Hi Breeze!" she greeted cheerfully after managing to swallow the large quantity of muffin she had been chewing.
"Hey." Breeze replied, flashing a friendly smile. "So, how'd that first job go yesterday? Did you manage to fulfill your client's request?"
Ditzy nodded enthusiastically and proceeded to tell her co-worker all about the previous day's assignment.

"Okay students, settle down!" Miss Cheerilee sang as she trotted into the classroom. "You all know what today is, right? It's time for another Family Appreciation Day!"
A few of the foals in class perked up upon hearing the announcement. After all, Family Appreciation Day meant a guest speaker was coming, which in turn meant the day's lecture was cancelled.
Cheerilee smiled. "Good, I see I've gotten everypony's attention," she said. "So today, we'll be meeting a family member of one of our newest students, Pipsqueak."
At the back of the class, Pipsqueak flattened his ears shyly against his head. "Um, Miss Cheerilee?" he piped up hesitantly. "I'm sorry, but my uncle's going to be a little bit late. He dropped by this morning as I was on my way to school and told me he had to take an assignment from work, so "

Ponyville was not a town full of early risers. Usually, when the sun had barely poked its upper rim over the horizon, the small town's residents were still fast asleep. But, as usual, one aging white unicorn was already wide awake, and humming contently to himself as he trotted through the front door of the small business he owned.
Dr. Candyfloss, owner and C.E.O. of Equestria Speedy Shipping Services, had always enjoyed the peace that came with the early morning. By nature, Candyfloss was a calm, level-headed type of pony, but in a town like Ponyville, excitement was never far away. At least, not once its residents had awoken.
Candyfloss settled into the large, comfortable chair in his small office and checked the clock. It would still be a short while until his employees arrived, and possibly a lengthy amount of time after that until the first call of the day came in. So, as
