This brings back dark memories, I was abducted a few years back. They didnít really do anything weird to me, actually we had a pretty great time. We had some beers, they showed me how to operate the abduction ray, let me probe some red-necks. But then they dropped me back on to this stupid planet!
AWESOME ADVENTURES, by Chris Roberson and Thomas N. Perkins IV
Here we have a preview of the upcoming comic project by Chris Roberson and myself, AWESOME ADVENTURES. I greatly look forward to announcing it's release with all due speed, but in the meantime, if you enjoy reading comics on your various digital devices, why not drop by Monkeybrain comics and give their fine titles a try! HERE HAVE IT IT'S... not great. I don't like coloring digitally, it's not as easy for me to make expressionate markings or whatever. I think it's because the whole loss of texture and such. It also takes me much longer. Don't know why that happens... I'm just weird that way I suppose. I dunno. Do you like it? And to those waiting for requests- sorry 'bout taking forever and stuff. But I'm working on it. So. Don't fret.
Uhhh yeah this was supposed to be the next page of the Orange comic teaser. Haha yeah as we all know I suck at anything digital, including coloring, so I took a lazy route and colored it black and white.
Now I actually have a comic going, but it doesn't involve Half-Life. At least, I don't think so. You can never take what I say for granted, because tomorrow I just may come up with a crazy new idea.
HEY GUYSSSS I have a challenge for you! As you can see it is unfinished without the text/speech balloons. Personally, I myself can't help but wonder what they are saying. (Okay, I have it written in the description, but the second panel just makes me think Gordon is simply saying, "Crowbar.") SO If any of you are up to the challenge, visit that worthless page of comic and write your own dialogue. Yes. It can be about anything. Crowbars, coffee, sheep- though keep it clean. If enough people do this I might even give out some prizes!! Oh, and even if you know nothing about Half-Life 2, Portal, or Team Fortress 2, that's a-okay. Here are the characters so you can correctly tell me who's talking: Guy with glasses is Gordon. The girl is Chell. Guy with the hat is Scout.
Anyway, here's what the text was supposed to say: Panel 1: Gordon: "Sorry if I broke your jaw, Scout." Chell: "Are you okay?" Scout: "GODDAMMIT! Decapitate me while you're at it!" Gordon: "Dang. Didn't break your jaw..." Panel 2 Gordon: "Ah well. Better decapitated than a zombie. Be a shame to loose you like that." Panel 3 Chell: "Zombie?" Gordon: "Unfortunately, that little creature right there can reanimate the dead. And living." PAnel 4 Scout: "I already hate 'em..." Gordon: "You should."
Ta da. Numerous (like two) people wanted to see it, so here.
I LOOOOVE love graphic design, and at the time I did this I was SUPER influenced by 'motion graphic' studios like Shinola and MK12.. this is the 'unfolded' design for the PH4 Sketchbook (and last one we did) in 2005 with Lee Bermejo, Ale Garza, Rich Friend and yours truly... I hope we do a new one again, just for old time's sake..... anyway, my idea with this cover was to simply have a design that was flexible and could accommodate the four different individual illustrations we would use for the cover (each artist had their own individual illustration ), and this one is My finished version!
This piece isn't really meant to been seen as a whole, but the left half is the backcover, and the right side the front.
