The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition (GOG) on GNU/LinuxSo, another game. This time, one of my favorites: The Witcher 2. If you liked the first Witcher, you should really really play Witcher 2. I'm not gonna talk so much about the contents of the game, there are a lot of sites for this. I'm gonna talk about how you install this on GNU/Linux.The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition (GOG) on GNU/Linux in Personal More Like This
First of all, I use the version from GOG http://www.gog.com/, i.e. enhanced edition with patch 2.1. Now, this version is pretty difficult to install, so I try to be as informative as possible.
(1) Create a new WINEPREFIX. I create a fresh new WINEPREFIX for each game I install, hence avoiding to mix several games with one WINEPREFIX which may arise a lot of problems. Create a new fresh WINEPREFIX through terminal:
env winetricks prefix=Witcher_2 vcrun2010 d3dx10
This will install a new WINEPREFIX followed with vcrun2010 and d3dx10. Keep in mind to NOT change the order of vcrun2010 and d3dx10 cause otherwise it will fail.
(2) Install the game:
env WINEDEBUG="-all" WINEPREFIX="$HOME/.local/share/wineprefi
Diablo 3 on GNU/LinuxI will start to post journals on how to run different kind of games on GNU/Linux. I hear a lot of times people claiming that you cannot play games on GNU/Linux, well, let me show you all the opposite by starting with Diablo 3!Diablo 3 on GNU/Linux in Personal More Like This
Diablo 3 is really easy to install, by just using PlayOnLinux and the most recent Wine version. The installation process is pretty much straightforward and automatic.
After the installation, you just launch the launcher and press the big Play-button. Easy, right?
Pictures of Diablo 3 in action:
The average FPS in game is between 30 - 40, however that is basically because of using a laptop with poor graphic card, an NVIDIA 4200M with 512 MB RAM, but still enjoyable!
KupferFor years, the usual way to start applications was to open a menu and click ones way through submenus, or to click on starters on the desktop or on the panel.Kupfer in Personal More Like This
Gradually, some desktop environments added alternatives for users relying on the keyboard. Gnome Shell allows users to type the applications name, as does Unity.
Xfce users are not provided with anything like that by standard, but it is easy to add without having to drag a whole new desktop environment on the system.
kupfer is (not only) a launcher that makes starting programs a matter of a mere instant. Activate the launcher, type the program's name (or even only a part of it; to start Chromium I simply press c) and hit enter - that's it. Simple and quick.
Several plugins even allow you to search stuff at Wikipedia, control Audacious, open files, write Emails, switch between windows and workspaces ... it would take to much time and space to list all.
I implicitly recommend this softw
Devious Journal EntryUPDATE: Alright, I should hopefully have the pack out the door Saturday or Sunday (8/25 or 8/26), but my mom took away all my electronics for today so we'll see what happens (I'm supposed to be writing an essay right now, that's the only reason I could update this.), that's gonna set me back a bit. Ah, the problems of a teenager.Devious Journal Entry in Personal More Like This
I'm really sorry to everyone that's been waiting for my Prime HD icons. I have them all finished (Around 100 in the pack, and I will be taking requests upon release. In fact, I'll list the ones I have here and anyone can comment with requests and I'll make them to put in the pack for release).
The reason it's taking so long is because I've been trying to make packs for popular launchers (LP/ADW, Nova, Apex, Go) to release on the market, in addition to zips on XDA, but have not gotten a single icon pack apk to compile. If anyone out there wants to give me some help with this, it would quicken the release a lot! I will also be releasing a MTZ for M
