Journal commission for ~KingsLamb . The theme/keyword i was given was old keys which always bring secret passages and walled gardens to my mind ( probably from my reading the Secret Garden again and again as a child ) so nature it was. I got a little carried away with all the trees and branches but i do like drawing entwined patterns, it has such a calming effect on me. :D

9x14 cm (3.5x5.5") Moleskine journal, graphite & white pencils, acrylic.

I painted my first unicorn:faints: It is not perfect and I tried to keep things very simple this time. Still I managed to add a lot of details:XD:
Anyways, I am very very happy with this one, I've got this idea so long ago , feel great that I managed to put it on paper:D I used no reference this time.
I hope you enjoy it the same much as I do!

YAY! Done for :iconwhispersss: "Masters in Fantasy" contest
[link]

this was SOOOO fun to do! lol. Fantasy rendition of Georges de la Tours' "Magdalen with the Smoking Flame"

After studying the image for quite some time I decided she was staring at an oil burner of sorts, and not a candle (because of the black horizontal line that seems to be a wick holder hovering inside the glass container) and I decided to keep the oil burner and fancy it up a bit.

Done in watercolors (very difficult!) with minor touch ups in photoshop (mainly fixing highlights and enhancing contrast and darkness) cuz frankly, you just cant get that dark with watercolors and the fact that the scanner uses light which reflects on the paper it makes the nice darks i had, lighter. boo. yay for the burn brush. I did a copy of this painting in school and have always loved it, so I jumped at the idea of being able to recreate it as a fantasy painting. Im not sure what kind of animal skull that is... it seems to resemble a big cats skull but I imagine is is some strange beast (that resembles a big cat?)

why? because I cant think of a better title to describe this piece... any better suggestions?
--------
Even though we feel as though we should be able to fly, the burden of reality keeps us tied to the ground. But even so, our dreams fly to us each night, to remind us that our earthly burdens can never completely keep us down.
--------
This painting hurt my brain, and painting thorns is the devil. :/ It sat for a few days as I was stuck on what colors i wanted to use for the background. I finally gave in and just used blue, convincing myself that there *is* an owl in the picture, so it would make sense if it were night-like. I flew with that, and it turned out great!

I was able to get closer to what I wanted with this painting than the last, and it was also a good reminder to me as to why I should, despite what my current state of reasoning suggests, always start with the BACKGROUND and work my way forward >.> you'd make it a lot easier on yourself. really. O.o

and lastly, YAY owls! YAY feathery hair! and Yay for inadvertently making her wings resemble peacock feathers... lol

Inspiration finally hit me a couple days ago, so in return I beat the crap out of it with a paint brush. maybe this is why it doesn't like to visit me so often anymore? Its hard to say really...

Had lots of fun with this one. I don't really know whhhhyyy shes got random bird wings coming out form behind her head. but I didnt question the inspiration and just went with it....

My new watercolor paper SUCKS up water like nobodies business. which makes for easy textures but it is SOOO unforgiving if you make a mistake. LOL

I abused my new tube of Panes Gray in this painting... lol.

What I've been working on for the last couple weeks. you may recognize the girl from an old sketch of mine. She was going to be part of a different painting, but I lost interest in it. Recently I decided to re-visualize her in a different scene. :)
