Inspired by Super Mario RPG, Star Ocean: The Second Story, and many more of my fondest memories playing role-playing games as a kid. These are the kinds of characters I would design if I was making a mecha-themed fantasy RPG. My goals were to be funny, draw inventive designs with a lot of personality, and be a bit bolder and more unusual with color usage. Thanks goes to Paul Segal for suggesting the "Gems of Castelaria" name.

This new series of submissions has a few new characters added to the roster, as well as reworkings of previous designs. (Yes, I know there wouldn't be staples visible in ALL of these spreads, but I like the staples.)

Which ones are your favorite?

:bulletgreen:BIOMETAL SNIPER JOE
While not all of the features of the Protoman Biometal could be mass-produced, this so-called inferior model proved to be just as much a successful weapon for WASP as it also possesses the Absolute Defense ability. Interestingly enough all of the Biometal Sniper Joe users are in fact female.

:bulletyellow:BIOMETAL PICKET JOE
A disguised varient of the Sniper Joe designed to infiltrate zones where military units are not allowed such as construction sites or mining areas, the idea being immediate response to threats in areas not typically under secure conditions. However because of their covert status they cannot use firearms and are reduced to only utilizing a boomerang pick ax. All users of this Biometal also happen to be female.

:bulletgreen:BIOMETAL HAMMER JOE
A more heavy artillery class unit that unfortunately cannot utilize the Absolute Defense shield due to budget restrictions, instead spinning their mighty hammers to duplicate the effect with the cords. Turns out all users of this Biometal are male.

:bulletyellow:METALL
A small armored drone used for security in several areas and facilities. While very weak their helmets are indestructable.

:bulletred:SHIELD ATTACKER
An armored drone used for instant deployment in combat scenarios, able to fly at incredible speedramming into targets with their indestructable shells.

:bulletblack:BATTON
A camera drone that is meant only for recon, however faulty programming will often result in them relentlessly chasing down targets. Their design is more organic compared to most robots so that they can better blend in with natural settings.

:bulletgreen:CRAZY RAZY
A humanoid attack drone that has the unique ability to seperate into two halves if heavily damaged, the top half has advanced hovering ability allowing it to pursue targets more effectively.

:bulletred:BUNBY TANK
More or less the Crazy Razy robot with a different body, its hovering ability in its split form is not as advanced but the trade off is that it actually has firepower with its dual napalm guns.

The good thing about the Zelda universe is that it's technically possible to create alternate stories with relative ease..and that led me to think...what if the hero and villain roles were reversed?!

Link has been raised his whole life with the knowledge that he is the chosen hero.. a fact that has given rise to a massive ego. His naturally cunning mind has developed into a manipulative, scheming mechanism bent on getting exactly what he wants.

This one actually came to Mii in a dream; I saw a BIG EYED Lakitu throwing an INCREDIBLLY Spiny Spiny at a sluggish koopa... don't ask.

I decided to post it today for :iconnintendrawer: 's DA anniversary; even more of a coincidence is that this is my 85th Video Game Drawing, and today is 8/5/10

85 is the 64 of today XD

Whatever happened to him? His show was BRILLIANT! For those of you who've never heard of him, he was the star a short-lived Cartoon Network show literally called "Whatever Happened to Robot Jones?". This show had such great potential, with it's 80's School House Rock setting and hilarious variety of characters, if it weren't for CN's annoying nitpicks, it might've lasted longer. Cmon, he seduced the SCANTRON MACHINE and fell in love with a girl with a prosthetic leg! That's gold, Robot Jones, I miss you, and I wanna know what happened to ya...

Edit: Photshop, lazily

What if video game characters were dinosaurs? With this series you can find it out. On today's episode: Super Mario Bros.

Plumbasaurus malleo: (Mario Plumber Lizard)
----------------------------
A stocky pachycephalosaur that lived during the very end of the Cretaceous period. Its' diet consisted mainly of red and green mushrooms, and the youngsters of the species ate many of these mushrooms each day to double their size until reaching adulthood. They also ate the feces of larger herbivores, and would often travel to the places where giant dinos buried their waste - the sewers of the Cretaceous - thus earning them the title of "plumber lizards". The remains of P. malleo were discovered both in the Mushroom Kingdom and in Brooklyn, New York, suggesting that these two places were once part of the same landmass.

Plumbasaurus weege: (Luigi Plumber Lizard)
----------------------------
A species closely related to P. malleo, but taller and lankier like most pachycephalosaurs. It shared the same habitats, and probably the same habits, as P. malleo, but was far more abundant. This find led the charismatic Septimus, the mysterious leader of the notorious Cult of Weegee, to declare the P. weegee a sacred animal and an incarnation of the god Weegee. Furthermore, Septimus claimed that the reason P. weegee was more common than P. malleo is that this animal, like the god himself, could turn other dinosaurs into weegees by staring into their eyes, thus expanding its' population exponentially. But of course, such a feat is biologically impossible... Right?

Innoxiotyrannus flagellolingua: (Whip-tongued Innocent Tyrant)
----------------------------
An unsung relative of Tyrannosaurus rex, I. flagellolingua was much smaller than its' famous cousin - about the size of a horse at most - and was an omnivore, using its lashing tongue to catch fruit and small animals and deliver them into its' waiting jaws. Its' favorite prey are tortoises, which ironically are the Plumbasaurs' greatest enemies due to competing on the same food resources. It has been speculated that the Plumbasaur populations centered around the the Innoxiotyrannus' territories, and perhaps even tamed the beasts.

Koopasaurus testudineus: (Tortoise-shelled Koopa Lizard)
----------------------------
Named after the Kappa, a turtle-like creature from Japanese mythology, this giant ankylosaur had a spiky armor, like a snapping turtle's shell. Its' remains were discovered in regions which were low on Plumbasaurus fossils and high on tortoise fossils, leading several biologists to speculate that the Koopasaurs' bad temper had driven the Plumbasaurs away, and that it may have had a symbiotic relationship with the tortoises, though of which nature is yet unclear. Unlike other ankylosaurs, its' belly was not unprotected but rather covered in bony armor, making this herbivore nearly invincible.

Rhincodonorisaurus purpureus: (Purple Whale Shark-mouthed Lizard)
---------------------------------------
This theropod, unlike any other known land animal, had a gaping, filtered mouth that resembled that of a whale shark. As such a mouth was extremely inefficient for hunting, the animal may have used it to filter insects, birds and small pterosaurs from the air, or fish, krill and shrimp out of the water. Strangely enough, this animal also had no cloaca, leaving the mouth as the sole orifice for eating, egg-laying, storage of reproductive organs, and excreting of waste - an evolutionary inconvenience which may have led to its' demise.

Back on late 2004 -right before its demise- ex-Transformers publisher Dreamwave Prod. started an Energon profile books project:
"Energon: more than meets the eye" (MTMTE)

I was commissioned to do many interior artworks for single characters, as well as the 3 book's covers, which were meant to be each 1/3 of a bigger picture, a sort of all-characters poster (just like the Armada MTMTE covers, penciled by Joe NG)... above the 3 covers combined!

Medium: no.2/HB pencils, markers on 3 11x17 artboards.
