So yeah the next chapter in "All that is Fair Part 1" has been taking some time to complete. I am going to tell you why, it has been taking so frakkin long.
I last updated the story back in December during my last winter break from college. By last I mean that as the last winter break of my undergraduate career. After that I focused on completing my senior thesis. That included completing my experiments and writing up the results, write a grant, and I also prepared three different presentations of my work. This took me to Graduation at the end of May.
I know I should have put my story on Hiatus but I was scared that I would lose some you. I didn't complete drop the story I would work on it here and there. Then I had a little bit of time before my family, friends and fiancee showed up so I reviewed what i had done in those five months. To make it short I didn't like what I had written for

Well it is finals week at my universty in the pacific northwest. The weather is cold but yet no rain or snow has fallen down low. Instead it decided to be bright and the air is kind of gunky looking. It is all rather confusing. But yet I find myself not being able to get into the Christmas spirit at all this year because of the weather.
Plus the heat doesn't seem to be working in the library, so it rather chilly inside. It would not be so bad if I was just studing in the library, but I also work at the library as well. Today I am pulling a double shift.
I would not be so bad if there was snow on the ground, and more of a holiday atmosphere around campus.
Enough ranting back to studying and working.

I have been thinking of changing the name of my person OC (the one trotting at the bottom). Right now he is called Brass Arrow. The name came form a mix of a name generated by a MLP name generator at rum Monkey and the metal I think of when I say steampunk. The original generated name became the main focus of my fan fiction starring Steel Arrow.
If any of your read this what do you think keep it or change with something else? If enough interest is show I post up another journal (because you need a premium account to make a poll) with some of my options.
Luna EclipseWow that Luna episode. Not quite the voice I imagine little to high pitched and not as soft as I imagined. Well at lest one of our theories was correct she does seem like a trickster, and she just trying to fit in but a lot has changed in 1000 and she just trying what she remembers to be the norm. But that leaves one question what has she been doing for over a year? Unless the episode are not in chronological order in the airing time line.Luna Eclipse in Personal More Like This
So this episode could in pony universe time it could have taken place right after she came back so ponies could have been still scared of her. But in the past season there is really no proof to support my theory in full. But it would explain a lot of the trouble she had during the celebration one year after her return.
By no means does this take away from the episode. It will be in my top five favorites. Viva the new lunar republic.

You know, I was on the fence about the new Smash Bros game. Even with Mega Man I didn't really see anything remarkable about the game to peak my interest. But then when Nintendo unveiled the Wii Fit personal trainer as a playable character? F**k Yeah! Bludgeon your opponents to death with YOGA moves? That's the sort of nonsensical whimsy that I think was sorely lacking from this version of franchise. Count me in!
Still not sure how the 3DS and Wii U version are going to interact with each other, if at all. Iwata has said that the 3DS will have different stages, so that suggests that they aren't compatible. But then, if they're not compatible, why put out 2 games at once? Frankly, I like the idea of being able to play against Wii U opponents from the comfort of my 3DS. That would be really cool, but I don't know if that's a thing they're looking to do or not. Hmm..
PS: Maybe it's just me, but I found it rather hilarious how all the characters were practicing Yoga

Over the years I’ve had a pretty straightforward view on gun control. Guns are dangerous and need to be restricted and made more inaccessible to prevent future acts of gun violence. I’ve never genuinely believed in the idea of banning all guns because I do think people DO need to have ways to protect themselves.
However, I’ve recently been thinking more about a different aspect to the gun control debate and it’s broader implications to other troublesome politically charged areas of our (United States) cult
Proving your Geek CreedNerds all share a unified experience of being socially ostracized from the rest of other so-called "normal" societal groups. The reasons may vary (not being good at sports, liking a certain sci-fi/fantasy TV show, etc), but the fact that we all were picked upon and marginalized during our most formable years is a major part of the nerd/geek identity. But in recent years nerd culture stopped being it's own niche thing, and has started to seep into mainstream culture. Making nerd culture more accessible has naturally brought with it a new group of people and fans into our sphere... and not everyone is happy about this development.Proving your Geek Creed in Personal More Like This

One of the things I hate about the internet is that everything must be quantifiable. Without a proper source, no one will believe you, no matter how reliable your original info was when you received it. It doesn't matter if you heard it from a professor giving a lecture in college, if you read it in a book, read a report by a scientist, or saw a documentary that went into elaborate detail... if there isn't an internet equivalent, then you're seen as a compulsive liar.
Case in point, recently someone mentioned that my sketches look better than my finished artwork and I responded by telling them that there was science that helped back up why that phenomenon exists. But since I couldn't remember the source, I got trolled hardcore for saying that. Today, however, I stumbled upon a close enough equivalence. Here's a quote:

Nintendo announced recently that Luigi will be getting quite a bit of due attention this year, declaring 2013 to be "the year of Luigi." First he'll be staring in the Luigi's Mansion sequel for the 3DS, then he will be a big component of the next Mario and Luigi RPG on the 3DS. In the RPG game, Mario will enter Luigi's dreams where Luigi can be as awesome, if not better than, his overshadowing brother. Poking and prodding Luigi's face on the touch screen will also alter the dream world, allowing Mario to proceed through obstacles. And if that wasn't enough, there is a new DLC package planned for New Super Mario Bros U which basically adds an entire game's worth of new levels exclusively to be played by Luigi. After doing a documentary on the history of Cel animation I thought it would be neat to tackle the death of 2-D animation in America, since I know a lot of people don't really understand how or why it all happened. This is a very condensed version of the past 20 years, most facts taken directly from Roy Disney's "Save Disney" website and the "Art of Animation" by Bob Thomas. I did my best to make sure all the facts listed below are as accurate as I can make them. This is a LONG post, but I think it's worth reading. Blog 558: Pacific RimI grew up on the cheesier end of the Shōwa-era Godzilla films (when Godzilla became more of a hero than an unstoppable force of nature), taping them when they appeared at unearthly hours of the night on Channel 4. They gave voice to a love of giant monsters fighting each other that had been present since Star Wars' AT-ATs, but these films haven't appeared on terrestrial TV for ages and I'm starting to pine for them again (not to mention all the ones I have never seen, like the very original).Blog 558: Pacific Rim in Personal More Like This
Hollywood hasn't done particularly well in filling in the gaps. What was the last blockbuster monster movie — Cloverfield? That was a bit of a mess (but I never liked shakycam anyway). 1998′s Godzilla? No, he was a cheap knock-off (Jean Reno notwithstanding).
On the face of it, then, Pacific Rim seems like what I've been waiting for. Not only does it have giant monsters, but it has giant monsters and giant robots. Directed by Guillermo del

21st Century: 2010-2012 Cartoons RetrospectiveSometimes, I wonder what would've happened if I'd been an 80s kid; specifically because I imagine myself being in college back in the 90s, possibly starting to get a foothold in the animation industry. And, why not inflate the dream to extremely unrealistic proportions by imagining being one of those privileged few that got to be taught by Don Bluth? My new policy for this account: I'm open for requests, art trades, and commissions.

The first thing that came to mind was that one-off scene from Invader Zim implying that Dib had done similar...I don't know why this odd similarity amuses me as much as it does. I guess I just really love the idea of these two meeting, geeking out about the paranormal, and sharing theories. While these two have a lot in common, Dib is far more zealous and obsessive than Dipper; while Dipper can get to Dib's level, he has other interests and concerns, as well as stopping points. Dib can't even shelve pursuing Zim for an hour to eat pizza with his family! (Dib has valid reasoning for that, of course, but I digress. "Scars can come in handy. I have one myself above my left knee that is a perfect map of the London Underground."—Prof. Albus Dumbledore
Early life becomes an exploration of invisible parameters, circles beyond circles, as one pushes out to test the boundaries of safety. There is one’s bedroom, one’s home, neighborhood, school and town, state and nation. Early on, maps become important documents – declarations of being and rights and privileges. In the art world, throughout history, maps have been a constant measure of human progress, from the Phoenecians recording their trade routes over 2000 years ago, or pre-Columbian times in which map

The Witchas Multifaceted Icon
Throughout history artists of every discipline have been fascinated, inspired and transfixed at every historical stage of the shifting perceptions of the “Witch” in any given time or society. The seams within every page of every chapter written against or in defense of the witch have been alternatively filled with oppressive sexism, blind eyed religious bigotry, occult doctrine, fevered and forbidden lustful sexuality, misplaced fear, and reams of wide eyed superstition.
Consequently, the colors, and lines within every stroke upon every canvas and visceral depiction, carry all the burdensome weight of the long intricacies of this subject. With respect to this much maligned, religiously and politically repurposed, perpetually misunderstood subject

The chaptered comic strip, has been collected into a 100-page graphic novel – and to the still-uninitiated:
It is not quite like anything you’ve probably ever seen before. The story follows “Zee Captain” and his sidekicks as they amble through a post-apocalyptic landscape. And while that hardly seems new and different, it’s the unusually superlative graphic quality of the comic cells and the Monty Pythonesque dialogues and leaps of logic that can become quite mesmerizing. Zee Captain, his face hidden by a gas mask that gives him a Darth Vaderish look, wears what looks like a Soviet Red Army uniform from WWII, and the strip does have nourish WWII feel. It’s as if the nuclear holocaust on Hiroshima and Nagasaki had never ended and spread to every major city on Earth. But

I believe in deviantART. Which is to more accurately say I believe in the concept and the reality of the deviantART community.
When in contemplation of the eternal wellspring that is the deviantART project and how it has become the engine keeping my heart and mind on a full burn as I strive to be an upstanding member of the community as well as a helpful architect and eager participant in the conversation -- my thoughts inevitably settle upon my attempts to define my concept of Gratitude.

The recently announced changes to the core mythos of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the backlash from fans over the ending to Mass Effect 3 have ignited an incredible discussion about the rapidly evolving “collaborative” relationship between producers and consumers of videogames, movies, and similar “products.” Now it’s exploded beyond the secure borders of top news publications, gamin
Dust and CobwebsGood morning creeps!Dust and Cobwebs in Personal More Like This
I've finally finished moving all of my strange antiques into the new house I'm sharing with Mr. Cain. We've painted, and installed all of our modern conveniences into this lovely circa 1900 house.
I've been waging war on the dust and cobwebs since moving, and the spiders... you would not believe. I found their mother lurking in the most frightening of all places... the hard-to-reach crevice behind the toilet. It was a horrific fight, she being about the size of my entire hand, but I've managed to purge the house.
The house itself is strange. It's not very big, but it's the biggest house I've ever lived in. It has mysterious tiny doors that don't open, a cupboard under the stairs, fireplaces in every room, and tall ceilings (which is good, because Mr. Cain has the proportions of Slender Man). I'm already imagining the kind of hobgoblins who lurk in the walls and the monsters in the attic because something has to be making those noises at night...
I'm looking forward

Brian Kesinger's already made his mark in the animation world while working for Disney, but he's breaking out of that mold with a story of his own, revolving around an unlikely couple, Victoria and her fabulous pet octopus, Otto, following their daily adventures. They're downright adorable. Brian's work has always impressed me, and this project is no exception.
I can't really articulate my love for these characters... they're so charming, and portrayed in Brian's fresh take on a classic style, I don't know what's not to love - and I just can't wait for his book to come out! So if you haven't already, head over to his page and check out more of his work!

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the absolutely amazing, incredible, astounding crew of MLP:FiM for all their hard work and dedication. Im so grateful to have such a talented group of artists give their all for what could have easily been seen from day one as silly, girly fluff unworthy of their time. Together I think we helped prove that for girls does not have to automatically equal lame.
And a gigantic thank you to the fans of the show!!! The kids, the parents and all you bronies!! The array of people this show has touched has completely exceeded my wildest expectations! I cannot believe the response, and, as Im sure youve noticed, I cannot keep up with the messages!!! Thank you all for your words of praise, thanks, curiosity, and even your thoughtful criticisms. Fr
