RtRuin: Shenzi II - OriginalShenzi and Banzi had spent several years living with Ed as pack of three, and it was getting tiresome. Oh, Shenzi still loved Ed -- in her way -- and she could tolerate Banzai, but the excitement and adventure of defying her mother had long since worn off. More and more, Shenzi found herself lying around and stewing in her frustration and resentment. Her beloved had made no improvements, and that bothered her greatly. Not only that, it stoked more and more the fires of her rage, and kindled deep within her the need for vengeance. She wanted Ahadi to pay, to hurt as she hurt he had had no reason to attack her or any of her people. Uru hRtRuin: Shenzi II - Original in Scraps More Like This

RtR: Tufani - OriginalTufani watched the sun setting, turning the sky into a fiery wash of reds and oranges. He sighed deeply, knowing this was perhaps the last time he'd see the end of the day in the Pridelands. He had seen the way Ahadi watched him now -- now that his mane was nearly in and knew the older lion saw a threat in the young lion. Tufani had no designs on the throne, but he knew that tradition demanded he leave his homeland now that he was an adult, now that he could fend for himself. Yet, it was hard to trade his home and safety for the perils of rogue life, and so Tufani hesitated.RtR: Tufani - Original in Scraps More Like This

RtR: Sarafina -- OriginalEver since her return to the Pridelands, Sarafina had been in a foul mood. Mufasa kept following her about, trying to start conversations with her. She hated him him and his selfish, vindictive attitude towards his brother. She wished she was Queen sometimes, if only so she could slap the smirk off of his face without repercussions. But that was the only reason. Otherwise, she avoided him.RtR: Sarafina -- Original in Scraps More Like This
Ahadi was almost as bad. He made snide comments whenever she passed, insults about herself, the cubs she carried, and their sire. She ignored him, but that only seemed to make him more persistent. When he got very bad, she went and slept near Sarabi

The Why of It: ManipulationI've had a few people (not a lot, no) tell me that it's not very believable for Taka/Scar to have been able to be manipulated by anyone, let alone the hyenas. I suppose it's logical to think that, especially in light of how the interactions between Scar and the trio of hyenas went in the movie. However, I based this idea on the dialogue and interplay between Taka and those same hyenas found in "Tale of Two Brothers". There, Taka is not yet Scar, and he is not yet homicidal nor obsessed with becoming King in short, his TLK-nature is not fully developed. So let's look at the places in the story where my idea that Taka was manipulated byThe Why of It: Manipulation in Settings More Like This

RtR: Shenzi I - OriginalShenzi was born the daughter of Moto, the leader of the Shadowlands hyena pack. As soon as she was strong enough, she had killed her littermates, and established herself as the only one worthy of succeeding her mother. As she grew larger, Moto took to introducing Shenzi to the others her age, and the pup defeated and cowed every one of them, until she was undisputed leader of all hyenas her age or younger. Then she set her sights on the older pups.RtR: Shenzi I - Original in Scraps More Like This
By the time Shenzi was a teen, none of the pack dared question her right to her mother's place. Moto was very proud, and gladly accepted her daughter as the next leader. She took Shenzi aside and
