there was an unusual amount of mammatus in the skies this afternoon when i shot this .. mammatus around here usually indicate a storm coming or gone.. and always make for a good sun set even after they have dispersed
When you go on a 29-hour road trip, there's not much to do. After the initial excitement of the trip wears off, and you've run out of snacks, and your cell has zero bars, and you've finished your book, and the laptop's battery is dead, and there's *still* nine hour to go...
You spend a lot of time looking out the window. In this particular case, I was on my way home from a funeral-bound trip, a dreary rain shower had just ended, and if I saw one more monotonously identical Kansas field, I was going to scream. So, I looked upwards, to find a single enormous bright white cloud behind a sky-full of dark gray ones.
It's not my best picture, seeing as it was taken on my little non-zoomable no-settings 5-year-old flip phone, but I do like it.
