"Fluted"

Shot on Day 1 of the video documentary for aFeinberg Galleries. After picking up BROVADO Weddings (Media) we drove up Waimea Canyon to the Kalalau Overlook and descended Kalepa Ridge...an epic hike that takes you to a spit of land that divides Kalalau and Honopu. Needless to say it offers incredible views.

This was shot just before sunset as the sun was preparing to pop out below the cloud line so it wasnt direct light but instead this bright filtered super sexy light. I isolated this ridges on the north side of the valley as they seemed to jump right out at me.

Look for the documentary to drop June 2012!

Thanks all!

"All Hala's Eve"

Ok, so I had fun with that title. :P

Taken on the last day of shooting with Brovado Media for the aFein Docu. The plan was to hike to the first Na Pali overlook about .5miles in...yea, that spot ain't what it used to be. So next move...quickly...sun was fading...scoot down the trail and hopefully find another vantage point to shoot from. Luckily there was. Of course then starts the rain, but just the light kind. The combination of misty air and setting sun made for some pretty epic light and the hike back much more rewarding :)

Thanks!

On day 2 of the film shoot for the documentary for aFeinberg Galleries we hit the trail early and hiked along the south shore of Kauai for sunrise at a spot I had scouted the week earlier. The hope was to get some sweet reflections but alas the wind was not to have any of that. Instead I scampered out to capture the waves as they washed over this neon green moss. Luck would have it the sun would rise just at the edge of the cliffs and grace us with about 5 min of good light and then back in to the clouds.

Much different shooting photographs with cameras pointed at you. ha! Look for the docu dropping June 2012 :)

Thanks!

The last image from my outing on the salt river. This wasn't the last shot I took, that goes to prickly pear margarita. This is just the last I'll share. This is a vertical pano of eight 9 horizontal images. Let's just say that the cliffs in this photo look like ants compared to how they are viewed in person. Amazing what a wide angle lens can do. My camera was also about three inches above the waters surface here. The reeds across the river are probably around 15-20 feet in height. I guess my point is that this image is MUCH more deceiving than it looks.

A double exposure of the night sky pre sunrise and one at twilight for the landscape. I've been getting pretty fortunate lately with night shots, and almost all of them I have been able to capture a shooting star. The base image was shot at ISO 3200 for 35 seconds at f4 for the stars, and the arch was shot at ISO 100 for 20 seconds at f22. This is one place I had fallen in love with immediately and cannot wait to return.

The superstition mountains are arguably one of the most photogenic places in all of the southwest. During the spring, wildflowers cover the hillsides adding an amazing array of color. When summer hits, the monsoon storms bring a heavy load of drama to the landscape. Here, the jagged western face of the mountain rises up abruptly as the infamous flatiron protrudes into the frame like a bow on a ship. There is never a bad time to visit this location, and if you are ever in the area, it is a must see. So many photo opportunities abound here. I shot this while scouting for good wildflower meadows last week and just wanted to get a nice view of the entire mountain. Expect to see these mountains in my images frequently over the next few months.
