She blinked, and the world came into focus. Crowds of people walked the street in front of her. Indistinct chatter filled the air. A soft breeze blew through the air. She felt the comfort of Mr. Mew, who was safely in her arms, and hugged him tighter as she stood up. Looking around, she realized she was at the Statue of Hachiko.
Reaching up to tuck some of her hair behind her ear, she realized she was wearing glasses. As she looked down at the clothes she was wearing, it finally hit her.
I'm back. For real this time
Her thoughts were confirmed when a rather frustrated-looking kid looked her way. His face instantly turned to one of ecstasy when he saw her (or rather, her cat) and he immediately ran towards her.
"Shiki!" Neku genuinely smiled as he came to a halt in front of her.
"Neku!" Shiki smiled as well.
"We're really " Neku started excitedly, then stopped, as if he was afraid to believe it was true. "We're really back? This isn't just another Ga

He awoke to the sound of a voice to find he was in his own bed. "Lullaby for You" was still playing on his Ipod. He turned it off and listened for any other sounds, however, the apartment was dead silent.
It was just a dream.
Checking the digital clock on the nightstand beside him, he found the bright red numbers read 6:00. He groggily made his way to the window and opened the curtains, despite the fact he almost always kept them closed to separate his room from the outside world. The sight of the pale sun rising above the horizon snapped him awake.
It's six o' clock in the MORNING!? Jeez, how long did I sleep for?
Accounting his abnormally long time in the dream realm to the fact he had potentially been sleep deprived for the last three weeks, he switched the lamp on his nightstand on and bounced back onto his bed. Propping himself up on his elbows, he took some time to look around his room.
The dark blue walls were plastered wit

Eri expectantly looked at her best friend for an answer. Her large eyes looked so excited, Shiki almost wanted to tell her everything: about actually dying, about the Reaper's Game, about stealing her appearance (well maybe she'd leave that part out), and most importantly, about meeting Neku and the rest of her new friends.
But there was no way Eri would believe her.
So, she figured she would tell Eri the truth. Or, at least, part of it. It wasn't technically lying if she left some er, most of the parts out, right?
"I met him a little while ago at the Statue of Hachiko. His name is Neku. Neku Sakuraba. "
Eri looked at her incredulously.
"THAT'S IT? THAT'S ALL THE YOU'RE GOING TO TELL ME!? GOSH SHIKI I'M YOUR BEST FRIEND!!"
Shiki stared blankly at her friend. What else was there to tell? That was the simple answer to her question. "Uh we're meeting again in a week so you can meet him then?"
She watched as Eri slowly cal

Shiki had made her way up to Eri's room to find it completely empty. It was already dark outside. Where could that girl be? Shiki was dying to tell her best friend everything about her first date. She sighed happily just remembering. Following their first kiss, she and Neku had walked to Ramen Don for dinner. Shortly after, he had taken her to a small ice cream place he knew, where they shared a cone of paopu fruit-flavored ice cream. It was arguably the best thing she had ever tasted.
When five minutes had passed and Eri still hadn't returned, Shiki finally gave up on waiting. Picking up her clothes, she was about to go change out of her dress when Eri finally burst through the door.
Eri's typically perfect tresses were in complete disarray, and her hat was haphazardly poised atop her head. The bright yellow vest she always wore was noticeably wrinkled, as was her short green skirt which, Shiki couldn't help but notice, was
