These brushes have been tested and are ready for you to use.
If you're not sure if you want to become a Citizen Member, You can download this complete brush pack for $5!
First are the basic brushes, which are your “go-to” brushes. In my opinion, these are the ones you should be working with most, especially when laying down your foundations of a piece. Most tutorials/livestreams I try to use the basic Hard Edge or the Chalk Brush to showcase how you don’t need fancy brushes, but they can be very effective at saving time and created detailed patterns/textures that would take much longer with just a basic brush. Hope you enjoy them!
The Complete Brushes (Citizen Only) Download includes the Skin, Hair, Chain, Stitch, Nature, Creature, Chaoes, Metal, Texture, and Extra Brushes! These are brushes that are meant to add texture, be more efficient with time, and give a piece something to work over/with. If you have any brushes you think would be a good addition, let us know! Below is an example chart of what each brush is and what they create! This guide can be used to see what brush would work best for you on a specific area. Lastly, try out the Braid Brush, it’s my favorite brush that I’ve ever created =]

While this exercise may sound sweet and simple, it’s actually quite the underlying challenge. We are looking at how to re-create 6 different types of candies and look at look at them analytically. So what distinguishes a jelly bear gummie from a candy cane? Just from looking at them both you can tell, They treat lighting differently and the surface material is vastly different. It is our job as digital artists to be able to analyze a material and be able to know how to capture and re-create the same look and feel on a canvas. So don’t be fooled by the simplicity of the allure of candy, for this exercise is bittersweet!
What are the 6 confectionery treats we will be taking a closer look at? Go through each below with some tips
This is sweet way to strengthen your artist eye and be able to capture different lighting information on different subject matters. Take what you learn from this and apply it to any texture and material!
Download your handout and submit it by next Friday to be one of the top submissions entered for this exercise!
