To say the very least, Zim's arm was in pain as he pulled it back to himself to cradle gently and let out a small sob. "Dib..." the others name slipped past his lips as he went back to curl up next to Dib, really hoping he didn't get any worse by morning.
After a few hours of sleep however, Dib began to wake back up once more, the painkiller Zim had given him beginning to wear off. Opening his eyes to find the room he was in completely dark, he was only able to see the shadows being cast across the walls of Zim's lab.
So sitting himself up slowly to have a better look around, he couldn't help but let out a pained yelp and double over in his spot with his arms wrapped around his stomach when he tried to locate the Irken in the room. "Z-Zim?" his voice shook a bit as he called out the others name in the dark.

Helping to steady Zim, Dib reached for the blanket he had wrapped Zim in earlier and his trench coat to pull back on. Then, draping the blanket around Zim, he merely scooped him up into his arms. "You shouldn't be walking yet. I'll carry you to the base. Besides, you'll be needing what little energy you do have right now for when we get back to your base. I'm not so sure your computer is going to let me in again." he sighed, dropping his gaze to the ground.
Nodding his head, Zim nuzzled himself into Dib's chest. "Mmm...He'll let us in...You just gotta know how to talk to him. He doesn't take you as an authority figure is all. I bet Gaz could get to him, what with all her gaming knowledge." he said, doing his best to stay awake as he was carried up the stairs to where he saw Gaz waiting for them.
Holding a few suitcases, Gaz's gaze seemed to be

Leading Dib back to the base, confused as to why it was so quiet but figuring Dib was just being sentimental about something, Zim merely let the others silence slide. "Well, here we are...Uhh...Should I have the computer make you a room? Or would you like to bunk with me?" he asked, looking at Dib questioningly.
Dib finally looked up at Zim at the question. "Ummm...Wh-Whatever you're more comfortable with..." he then looked away to the ground again.
Zim could only look at Dib confused. "Okay...What's wrong now?" he looked worried.
Dib took a few steps back away from the other. "N-Nothing..." he lied.
Zim was really lost now. "Wh-What's wrong?" he asked again, reaching out a little for Dib but pulling back at the last second, sighing and turning towards the house to walk inside, head down. "You can have my room..." he said in a low voice.
Dib took a few more steps away from the door. "M-Maybe I should leave..." he felt uncomfortable now that he was at Zim's base.

Looking up at Dib guiltily, Zim could only drop his eyes away after a moment. "I'm sorry..." he blushed, knowing he had been getting ahead of himself. "But yeah...I could make you a disguise...You'd have to come back to my base though. The computer has the disguise machine...And...If you wanted...You could stay for a while while you try it out..." he offered, blinking back up at him after a moment or two.
"I-It's alright. I-I just don't want to do something I might regret in the future. But I can go with you to your base if you need me to. A-And if you don't mind, I-I guess I could stay for a few days while I try out the disguise, though I know I won't really be able to go out in public with it."
Smiling at Dib's answer, Zim nuzzled him affectionately. "I understand. So...Shall we go then? Oh! But you might want to pack a few things before we leave..

A couple of hours passed, one right after the other, until finally Dib started to show the first signs of waking back up, though this time for good.
"Mmm...Zim?" he murmured before blinking his eyes open to look around the room.
To his surprise, said Irken was nowhere to be found. He had gone upstairs while Dib was sleeping but hadn't made it back before he woke up.
So, sitting up in bed slowly when he realized Zim wasn't in the bed with him, Dib looked about the room confusedly. "Zim?" he said again, unsure whether he should get up and look for the other or stay put. Squeezing his legs together somewhat uncomfortably, he squirmed about in the covers a bit as the urge to pee hit him all over again, reminding him that he had needed to go the last time he had woken up.

Hardly responding to Zim's words, Dib was in too deep of a sleep to know anything other than he wanted Zim to remain still as some kind of pillow for him.
Letting Dib cuddle up to him, Zim sighed out quietly. "Please be okay, Dib..." he just wanted his human hybrid to recover quickly.
Returning to the base about 45 minutes later, Gaz entered Zim's bedroom without even knocking this time, a small bag of various items in hand. "How is he?" she asked, placing the bag on the bed and looking up at Zim.
Looking up from Dib, Zim could only shake his head slowly. "I'm not sure...He's still asleep." he responded, petting back a bit of Dib's hair.

Gaz couldn't take it anymore. She was sick and tired of having to listen to her father complain about every imperfection he found in Dib. So dropping her video game, she couldn't help but send Professor Membrane an icy glare. "Dad, SHUT UP! We ARE lumped together! I'm gay too!" she voiced out before stomping her way over to the stairs to the lab. "If you were home more, you would have known this about us!" she turned to scream back at him before storming down the stairs, just mad enough at Membrane to help Dib save Zim.
Jumping at the sound of his sister stomping down the stairs, Dib quickly turned his head to look back at her. "G-Gaz?" he couldn't believe his eyes as he watched her come up next to him so she could kneel down and take up her own towel to help him dry Zim off.

"O-Of course! I-I wouldn't leave you..." Dib said quickly, kneeling down near the Irken again and leaning in to press another kiss to his forehead before resting his head on Zim's chest comfortably.
Smiling at this, Zim brought his arms up to wrap around Dib. "Thank you..." he thanked the other before closing his eyes tiredly.

"Yeah, but only because you're on it right now, and your leader is so madly in love with you! But if you were to ever leave, how do I know it would still remain as a reserve?! Your leaders could blow it up at any time if they really wanted to!"
"Eh, but you- he- GAH!" Zim tugged at his wig where his antennae were hiding. "WHY CAN'T YOU JUST BELIEVE ME?! I CAN'T LEAVE THIS PLANET! EVER!" he yelled, starting to attract a little attention. Dropping a giant pile of papers on his desk, Miss Bitters then pointed out the door. "Fine! Now get out of here!" she ordered Zim to leave her classroom.
Grabbing all the papers, Zim wasted no time at all making a break for Dib's house. "M-Maybe...Maybe he will forgive me." he said to himself, holding the papers tightly as he made his way to the human's house. Arriving at the house within a matter of minutes, he hesitated before making his way up to the front door. "Well...Here goes nothing..." he whispered to himself before knocking on the door.
Answering the door a few moments later, Gaz could only glare at him when she saw who it was. "What the hell do YOU want?" she demanded, standing in the doorway with her arms crossed, tapping her foot on the ground impatiently, having had to pause her game to answer the door.

Surprised but pleased at finding himself this close to his human, Zim stretched up onto the tips of his toes so he could rest his head against Dib's shoulder, reading the board too. "Hey, look!" He pointed at a bright flyer. "All applicants for homecoming king and queen need to talk to the principal before January 10th!"
"So?" Dib had no clue why Zim would bring that up.
"So we should go for it!"
"Zim we're both males."
"So? We can be homecoming king and king!"
"I don't think they do that."

"It's supposed to. It's an exercise as well as a dance."
"One bottle of water," Zim said to the lady in the concession stand. She fished one out of the ice-filled cooler and set it on the counter.
"One dollar," she said.
Zim dug a dollar bill out of her pocket and gave it to her, then picked up the bottle. The ice-cold water clinging to its outside made him flinch as it burned his skin. He quickly handed it to Gaz and wiped his hand off on his pant leg.
"Thanks." She twisted the lid off and drank deeply. They walked back to where Dib was sitting. "You sure Dib won't get jealous?" she asked.

Dib lowered his binoculars and leaned back against the trunk of the tree he was perched in. It was recess and he was doing his usual spying on Zim. They were in Hi-Skool by now and Zim hadn’t managed to take over Earth yet. Not that anyone really expected him to. He’s shown his incompetency so many times Dib stopped worrying about him long ago. He just liked observing the many odd quirks the alien had.
His curiosity was piqued slightly. What function did the antennae serve? As long as he’s known Zim and he’s never really figured it out. He assumed they were for hearing and expressing emotion, as they often shot straight up when their owner was surprised or laid down flat when he was angry. But was that all they were for?

He shoved his tray of school food aside and took a blueprint out of his PAK, spreading it out and drawing on it, humming loudly, watching Dib out of the corner of his eye.
Dib glanced at him and made a move as if to get up, then changed his mind and relaxed again, looking back at Gretchen. She smiled at him, flashing her perfect teeth; years of heavy-duty dental work had finally paid off. She didn't have braces anymore and her overbite was gone; she was quite beautiful now.

He closed his eyes as he remembered the last time he had seen him.
It was ninth grade, about halfway through the school year. In an attempt to make school more fun and perhaps revive some crushed spirits, a school dance was held. It was nothing formal, and you could come in whatever you wanted as long as it adhered to the dress code, that is. But no one paid attention to that stupid thing anyway.
Zim seemed somewhat interested in going, most likely because he wanted to learn more about Earth culture or maybe play a few pranks on some unsuspecting humans.

And it didn't help matters that they were in Hi-Skool by now and Dib was almost seven feet tall. Insanely tall compared to the short Invader. Zim, of course, hated Dib even more because of that.
By now they had reached some sort of mutual agreement; neither was capable of winning their endless battle. They were just too evenly matched somehow. They had also discovered that if either were to be permanently defeated, the other would most likely end up depressed and lose their drive.
So actual physical battles ceased to be about a year ago. Now they just insulted each other across the classroom or threw stuff at each other. No different than any other Hi-Skool rivalry, really.

"Get off Gir!" Zim pushed the robot off. Gir just bounced off happily to the kitchen.
Zim walked over to the couched and sat, down. "Gir! Did My Tallest call while I was at skool today?"

Through the first week Dib and Gaz came to see Gir routinely. After the first week was over, they took him home with them. Ever since Zim left, Dib blamed himself, and went into a small depression. He didn't talk to anyone but himself, Gaz and Gir; but mostly himself. Dib stopped chasing after other paranormal, because it reminded him of the fun he had with Zim. Gir regularly checked up on the house, and no intruders ever came.
Dib would look through his very special telescope, and try to find Zim ever night. He sent echo waves through space, from one of his dad's machines, asking for forgiveness and pleading for Zim to come home. He never got an answer.
By the fifth week of summer he started getting desperate, and started writing letters. Short ones and tied them to balloons and let them free. After about a week of sending hundreds of letters, he stopped sending them, but kept writing. Every week he would go with Gir to Zims house, and leave the letters in Zim's house. Dib never gave

Zim did, in fact, hear the 'Wait!' Dib shouted, but he ignored him. Zim was on the couch and Gir was asleep in his lap. It has been an hour since he left and Dib has called him repeatedly since he left. Zim had also got word that skool was to end on Tuesday, not Friday; so Zim only had two days until he leaves for his mission.
'I guess I'm going to skip skool tomorrow. I really don't want to see Dib.' Zim decided. He then went to sleep, and went through dreams; not to wake until Tuesday morning...
Dib was at home and attempting to call Zim again. "Hello! This is the MIGHTY ZIM! I'm not home right now, filthy meat bag! So leave a message and maybe I won't totally ignore you!" Beeep!!!

Zim couldn't wait to go to this sleepover. Exciting! He had told Gir he was coming, and Gir jumped with glee.
Dib had given a note to Zim listing everything that he needed to bring to the sleepover, after skool.
1. Sleeping bag.
3. Night goggles
6. Silver bullet
7. Small sleeping bag for Gir
Zim had looked up before what a sleeping bag was and he now knew what it is used for. He had called the computer and told it to make two sleeping bags during skool.
Now, at home, he packed what was needed. He put the bullet, goggles, stake, and radio in his PAK. He put the Garlic in a bag and put it in his PAK. Then asked the computer where the sleeping bags were.
The computer dropped the two perfectly made sleeping bags. One was blue like Gir's eyes, with a black Irken symbol on the front and the other, the one for Zim, was red and had the Irken symbol on the front. Zim grabbed the bags and went to the elevator. Dib walked into his classroom five minutes before the bell and sat in his seat. A girl with purple hair and braces, known as Gretchen, came up to him. "What's wrong, Dib?"
Dib looked into her eyes. He looked away as he spoke, "I did something horrible and I think I severed my friendship with Zim. He probably hates me now and I can't do anything about it!" Dib could take back the words that left his mouth; though he wished he could. He looked down at his desk as the tears came back; he tried hard to keep them from falling.

He still couldn't believe that Gretchen might know Zim's an alien. He decided to go ahead to skool.
Zim was at skool five minutes before the bell. Dib was nowhere in sight, so Zim just sat down in his seat. He felt a cold glare at his back. He began to get restless and nervous. The icy stare from an unknown watcher blistered his back. He was frozen upright; like he couldn't move at all. Finally he got control of himself and he turned around to see who was watching him.
Once he looked into the soulless eyes of a young girl, obviously angry with him, he became scared in the least bit. Gripping my bookbag tight, I turned to leave the classroom. The morning sex-ed lesson had seemed to go on forever and it didn't help that Sowourz had insisted we pair up to work on some of the questions. Half the morning he had spent twisting around in his chair and slamming his fists onto desks, yelling loud enough for the students on the opposite end of the school to hear, about how 'hyooman's' were lax and 'stoopid' that they actually needed to learn about this 'stuff.'
I had smirked again at that, asking him if he'd ever learned about sex-ed on Irk, to which he yelled 'I AM FROM EARTH! I AM NORMAL!' in an attempt to bypass the question.
Now I headed towards my locker. Zim's was right across from mine on the opposite side of the corridor, strangely enough. We didn't share homeroom, but

What did it mean?
I winced. "Yes?"
It was barely a croak, but she heard. "You're zoning out. Pay attention or I'll send you to the underground classroom. For the rats."
"Yes, Mrs. Bitters," I weezed. A few desks to my left, I could here Dib snickering...
It was warming my squeedily spooch.
I moaned and laid my head in my hands. Stupid sensation! Just thinking of that earth-worm made my mind go fuzzy and hazy!
"Oh, and class, you may have failed to notice that one of you pathetic children is not here. They were diagnosed with the flu and it's highly possible you all caught it. So, if you're going to catch it, you'd better not miss class unless you're dying."
A human illness? I swallowed nervously. I hoped I didn't catch it.
"Well, I'm not catchin it

What else is there to do? It's so incredibly lovely out, and it's not as if anyone is gonna drop by, though, on nights like this, I wish somebody would. I really don't want to be alone right now. ~Johnny C.
"Did you hear!?"
"Oh yeah! That!"
"Dude, I can't believe it!"
As multiple kids whispered their juicy rumors in a way that was just loud enough to hear, two kids stood to the side. The taller, a golden eyed male with black hair, turned to his purple haired sister, motioning to the chattering students around them with a thumb. "What are they talking about?"
"Don't know, don't care," the girl muttered darkly, eyes glued on a beeping and flashing hand held gaming device in her hands. Casting an equally gold gaze at her brother, she scowled, glaring daggers at the elder. "Now shut the fuck up so I can play my game."
The voice was dripping with venom and a promise of bodily harm if it was not obeyed. Gulping, the boy nervou

Silence had filled the small, cramped councillor's office for a full half hour since Elliot had brought the two teens in after the little incident in the hall this morning. Since he had started his new job as the skool's councillor, Elliot had come to the conclussion that waiting for the troubled teen to speak to you was better for the teen's self esteem than trying to pry the problem out of them.
Elliot was a rather scrawny man in his late thirties. Standing a little over six feet, he was the perfect example of optomism and, in his opinion, a proffessional teacher. The blonde's choice of attire was a white, long sleeve shirt with a brown sweater vest worn over it, a pair of blue jeans, and tan leather loafers.

"And so, kids, the universe will eventually implode on itself."
I ignored my creepy Earth teacher's lecture of doom. After all, with my superior information gathering skills, this filthy planet would be under Irken control long before this... implosion.
Said creepy teacher sighed, shaking me from my thoughts, "Yes, Dib?"
"Didn't you discuss this before?"
I growled savagely. Stupid Dib-worm! The only sane pig-monkey on this crazy planet was the only thing standing in the way of my plan-
My growl turned into a rather violent coughing fit and I flinched as each cough tore through my throat. By the time it was over, I was gasping for breath.
"Zim, if you're going to cough up your lungs, do it quietly!" Ms. Bitters snapped.
"Yes, Ms. Bitters." I rasped. My throat was surprisingly raw. Strange.
The bell rang and Ms. Bitters hissed darkly. "Enjoy your doomed lives. You'll be back here tomorrow or you'll all fail."
Finally, I could go home and work on my latest evil plan!

It was a well known fact Irkens don't sleep.
It was one of the things that made them the most feared race in the universe. An enemy that never sleeps.
It was NOT a well known fact (in fact, only the Tallest knew and they made sure absolutely NO ONE found out) that once, every thousand years, for one week, the moons of Irk moved into alignmen in front of the sun and affected every Irken PAK...
A Tallest's schedual was quite simple: stuff your face, check briefly on the invaders, eat more food, judge a few Irkens, pig out, check invaders, food, repeat.
All from the comfort of the Massive.
Red and Purple were currently in the 'eat more food' phase. While they snacked, they complained about one particular invader that never seemed to understand the phrase 'Leave us alone, we don't care.'
Invader Zim. The defective Irken who'd brought nothing buy chaos to the well organized Irken empire.

"WHAT IS IT!?"
"WHAT IS IT!?"
"WHAT IS IT!?"
"GIR, will you PLEASE shut up!?"
"I DON'T WANNA! ... OK!"
I groaned and collapsed into my keyboard. It was cool against my burning forhead.
I was in pure, utter agony. Not only was my throat raw and inflamed, but I was uncomfortably hot and my head hurt. A lot.
And GIR wasn't helping.
"Doom de doom doom de doom doom de doom doom doom!"
"GIR, enough with the singing!"
"I'M DANCIN' LIKE A MONKEY!"
"LET'S MAKE BISCUITS!"
"No, GIR, let's be QUIET!"
And, on top of my poor condition, this sensation hadn't left yet. I still felt warm and fuzzy when I thought of Dib-stink.
I shuddered. Disgusting!
GIR made some sort of shreiking sound, piercing my non-existant ears and making my migraine worse. "GIR! My head is KILLING me, please stop!"
"Aw," GIR cooed, leaping into my lap and hugging me. "Someone needs a hug!"
I sighed. Deep down, I had a soft spot for my crazy SIR unit.
None, however, for the Dib.

I was in a bright room. Every Irken I knew, and didn't know, was surrounding me. Watching, waiting.
The massive group parted and the Tallest walked up. Despite the fact I'd gained a foot of height in the past five years, I still had to crane my neck to see them clearly.
Tallest Red cleared his throat. "Zim, we have evaluated your life."
"Evaluated?" I asked, confused.
"Yes, evaluated," Tallest Purple stated. "As in, 'looked over it and judged it'."
"Judged it!?" I yelped, gasping in shock. "Why!?"
"To decide whether you're worth our time."
"To decide whether you're useful!"
"And you're not, Zim," Red replied smugly, grinning in my face. "You're worthless, useless."
"You don't even deserve to live."
"No," I whimpered, backing up. "Please, no-"
"It's for the best, Zim."
"You'll be doing Irk a favor!"
"No, please!" I cried, backing into someone. They grabbed my wrist, holding my in place. "I'll- I'll do better!"

"GIR " I moaned, wincing. "PLEASE shut up "
"I'll get you tacos when I feel better "
"I-" Sniff. "I love you "
"Me too, GIR, now go watch Scary Monkey or something "
"YAYZ!" GIR cried, running off. Flinching, I buried my face in Dib's soaked t-shirt, thanking whoever invented the ingenious idea of paint.
Dib walked to the couch and sat down, still holding me close. "Zim, you're a mess."
I still couldn't think clearly and Dib's scent wasn't helping. He smelt good

Finally I ran out of air and I panted, gripping my desk tightly.
"Zim, do you have something to share with the class?"
I was gonna be sick.
Without even asking, I ran out the door, activating my spider legs for extra speed. I barely made it to the bathroom before I lost it.
When I was done, I collapsed to the cold floor, the acidic taste of vomit thick on my tongue. I was shaking violently, too exhausted to even deactivate my spider legs.
I hoped nobody came to investigate.
Then again, did I really care at this point?
My 'stomach' heaved again and I pulled myself up, throwing up yet again in the porcelain bowl. Afterwards, I flushed the toilet and watched the filthy water swirl.
I realized my wig was gone and I was missing a contact. Had I come to school without them? No, Dib would've pointed it out
I was crying.

Hearing his voice through the phone was like an echo of my dream. I could feel my face getting flustered. I took a deep breath, waiting for him to respond. I gulped.
"Yes, it's Zim. Listen pig-stink, I need you to do something for me." He was talking like he called all the time! I felt myself getting a little irritated. Almost like all the aggression I had from our past fights were beginning to rumble together in my head, like an earthquake that gradually builds up.

I must have zoned out because I didn’t notice he had moved until he was in my face.
"Dib! Are you alright?" his gloveless hands were on my shoulders, shaking me back and forth slightly, probably trying to bring me back to Earth. "Your huge face is so white! What's wrong?" why was he half naked? Why did he take off his hoodie and his gloves in the livingroom?! No, it was my fault I should have knocked. "Dib-worm!" Zim called out once more.

I trusted the scan to work…mostly anyhow. I swallowed as I waited for the light to finish scanning us. Dib seemed more interested and focused on me, instead of his own fate. I was terrified for a moment when I stepped into the tube. Zim could have been easily tricking me to destroy myself, but it’s been so long. Why would he try to kill me now? He tapped some codes into the touch screen thingy. It was all in irken so I had no idea what any of it said. Afterwards, he walked towards the other tube. He looked so worried. With his antenna whimpered to the back of his head, he was the very image of vulnerable. This was crazy. Why did he even want to be able to be human? Maybe it was for a better disguise. I honestly didn’t care much. I wanted to see if it would work. I wondered for a second on why he didn’t just steal a human if that’s all he needed. He hated asking for someone’s help so why not take someone against their will?
Just as all these question jumbled through my spinning head I glanced over at Zim. He was so pinned up in the tube. His shoulders were tightly pressed near his head in a clinch, almost as

"This is all your fault..." he muttered, half to himself and half to the disguised alien staring just as intensely back at him.
Antennae twitching beneath his wig at the silent statement, the Irken scoffed at those words. "ZIM is not the one who brought a water gun to school, worm-baby. If anyone is to blame for landing us in detention, it's YOU!" he jabbed a finger in the human's direction, standing abruptly from his seat.
"Zim! How many times do I have to repeat myself?! No leaving your seat during detention! Now sit back down before I add on another fifteen minutes to your time here!" the teacher in charge scowled and pointed to Zim's seat from his spot at the front of the classroom.
Growling, Zim reluctantly returned to sitting back down at his desk,

He reached for it, stopped himself, and then finally decided he couldn't just leave said package out by the front door where it might be rained on or stolen. So stooping down low to pick it up, he then headed on inside, telling himself he would only stash it in his room until he found the time to mail it back. After all, there was no point in him keeping it. Not when he already had years worth of stashed equipment in his room. Years worth of equipment that had either been broken long ago or didn't work to begin with.
