Manly Guys great weekly entryI'm a big fan of Manly Guys Doing Manly Things, but this week's comic is so great it deserves special attention: http://thepunchlineismachismo.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/2013-04-15.jpgManly Guys great weekly entry in Personal More Like This
Now, really look at this cartoon. It does somethign that ALL the reference comics fail at.
Every single thing about it is a reference. You need to know about a certain famous sci-fi book, Pokemon, and recognize at least a few of the five different robots.
The fact that the joke is something you need to use your brain to find funny makes it not only clever, but a riddle that demands audience participation.
Bravo!
Jeff Smith Documentary and Passion WorkJust finished watching "The Cartoonist: Jeff Smith, Bone, and the Changing Face of Comics." -http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1540991/Jeff Smith Documentary and Passion Work in Personal More Like This
I highly recommend it.
I competed the lines on the next Leelu page and made a page template for Serious Engineering (the long format is great for online but I really want this published).
Every time I listen to a "how it was made" story on some epic piece of fictional wonder (I watched/listened to a two hour one on the original Star Wars movies yesterday), it inspired me to work harder and have confidence in what I'm doing with Serious Engineering.
I've wanted to make a life-changing epic since toddlerhood (my first attempt being when I was about four - The Battle of Gaggle and Mean Cat). I believe that SE can be something great, maybe just as Great as Bone or maybe even Watchmen. I know that sounds arrogant but I mean it.
It's my dream, my passion, and what makes me wake up in the morning. And I love it.
A Word on ColoringI'm not good at coloring. I'm okay with building pallets (not the best, far from it) and I have a basic understanding of color placement, but I don't trust myself with coloring my own work. I instead ask my boyfriend to do my coloring, which is great because he's way better than me.A Word on Coloring in Personal More Like This
I bring this up because I recently saw a few pages of Mobius's The Incal recolored for a re-releace. I know that the "old" way of coloring is quite different than they do it today, but.. good god, look at this. They did a horrible job.

The new is painful to look at. All that grey and brown, it's depressing.
The Incal does not take place on earth. Everything is supposed to be odd and unreal. We don't need an inner city here to look like it does on earth.
Also, notice how the original has the ground floor a solid white, and the buildings get lighter and lighter the farther they go down. It pul
Change of plansWell, it seems that Canada might be a bust. The recent 2012 immigration process changes have made entering the country nearly impossible (you need a job to get a permit to get a job). I just don't have enough money to survive here while employers shrink in fear and the idea of filling out paperwork to sponsor me.Change of plans in Personal More Like This
It looks like I'll be going back to Czech Republic to teach English. I'm currently searching for jobs there and Ryan has happily opened the door for me to say with him.
I just don't have the money to live here any more, and it doesn't look like any will be coming in.
Busy, slow to add stuffI'm currently hard at work on several things right now, mainly volunteer work, commissions for a massage therapy group, and applying for writing contests for extra money.Busy, slow to add stuff in Personal More Like This
I won't be adding much for the time being. That means Leelu and SE are on temporary hold until I have more free time.
I'll add Ugly Book Cover every other day or so because they're fun and fast.
In the meantime, enjoy this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Rot9uaVO8s

I just made it!
When I get a job I'll update it to a bigger one.
I still don't have a site for SE yes but I want more to add to it first.
Weekend ProjectThis weekend I'm going to make children's book-style publications of "How to Live with Introverts" and "Explaining the Transgender Experience 2". They should be relatively easy to do given the simplistic style.Weekend Project in Personal More Like This
Ryan is coming in June. He'll be after his surgery and he'll need time to rest and get used to Saskatchewan (farms and flat. not much to get used to). I need to make some money and, thanks to my permit situation, I can't be employed in the traditional sense of the word.
I remembered seeing storybook style books in an LGBT bookstore in Toronto trying to explain transgendered feelings and thinking "You really are missing the point".
So, thinking about the need to explain complex behaviors in an easy-to-understand format?
Why not Schroeder?
