Another fight. Nothing specific about her opponent, only that it was apparently a guy. Plus, the location would yet again be the rocky plains outside Omashu. She had three days to rest before the match at noon.
Well, she was nice and well rested, and couldn't have been a more excited for another chance to prove she was the best! So pumped, she even arrived ten minutes early. Toph regretted this almost immediately.

This race had only advanced to the point of bows and arrows and aqueducts, what could they possibly do to harm AT-AT Walkers?

It involved hijacking a prototype interdimensional gateway developed by S.T.A.R. Labs to infiltrate an alternate universe… so he could literally kill himself. Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, as we settle into the eighth generation of gaming, let's look back on the last decade and raise a toast to the games that made their mark on gaming history, culture and the industry. This countdown will combine both games I argue are of utmost cultural relevance... and games that I subjectively had God knows how much fun with.
And the kicker? They're not mutually exclusive, either. Most of the time, if you keep an open and critical mind, they can both. There’s always that stigma that “art” or anything of cultural value or importance can’t be “fun.” Well, I say “Nuts to that preconception.”
Enjoy, my friends.

One could be forgiven for coming to the conclusion the Internet is something of a hotbed of negativity.
Nerds, geeks and fanboys (or fangirls, let's not discriminate) of disdainful predisposition - revelling in the lack of self-restraint provided by the safety of anonymity - have moulded forum threads and message boards, or even the comments section of any given review or critique into hostile landscapes where reason, respect and basic human decency suffocate under the thick smog of vitriol. This then spills over into damn near everything else, where the surly and miserable take out their cynicism and bitterness on the simplest and inoffensive of opinions (i.e. "This movie/game/anime/book I just saw/played/read was a lot of fun!")
To put it simply, you can't just like anything on the Internet, not unless - and isn't this wonderful logic - you're willing to endure a Sisyphean level of harassment, abuse and bullying. It's absurd. They have no right to attack you as a person if you

Some things were expected of Presidents. Some things were equally expected when birthdays came around. One would picture luscious parties where visiting dignitaries from all around the world, celebrities and even rival political opponents would come together at the White House for a formal affair.
So a President throwing a birthday party at a sleazy, gimmicky strip club where all the strippers and dancers were dressed as hyper-sexualized Marilyn Monroe’s – regardless of ethnicity – from every single one of her films would not exactly have been the sort of shindig the average person would have considered for the Head of State to shamelessly indulge. But America learned to shift their expectations when they elected the Boss.

5) Spec Ops: The Line
War films like to show war is hell. Which is fine. Film, after all, isn’t an interactive medium, all it can do is show. That’s its function. Sometimes, it can be quite effective that way. It provides a safe distance between viewer and the world of the film. They can observe just close enough to empathize with the plight of the main characters onscreen and get the point hammered home.
But Spec Ops: The Line illustrates the power of the interactive medium we call gaming… by forcing the player into active participation.
And unlike, say, most average military shooters; the player doesn’t have the context that frames their actions under the lenses of patriotism or heroism. It strips that context away to reveal the ugly innards of the military shooter genre underneath. It reveals just how truly awful this vein of escapist fantasy truly is.
As I said before, we must allow games the right to have their own aims and goal

For most of his acting career, Henry Fonda had a penchant for playing impossibly noble men; men so heroic, selfless and honourable of heart, soul and temperament they make Ned Stark look like a damn scoundrel.
Whether of his own volition, studio mandate or public demand (well, alright, it was more of a combination of all three), Fonda was always typecast as a rational, collected, logical yet passionate and moralistic soul on an endless crusade against injustice. Frankly, how could he not have been typecast into that sort of role? Look at the man in his prime: square jaw, nice hair, handsome mug and startlingly bright blue eyes? By God, this would be the sort of face you would want on politicians, officers, lawyers, or even your next door neighbour, so whenever you were in trouble you'd only have to turn to Saint Fonda for help. A while ago I managed to find a copy of Stephenie Meyer's Breaking Dawn(BD) in the public library. Since there was no third book of the series, Eclipse in sight; I had to make do and borrow Breaking Dawn first even though I still haven't read the third book.
Frankly, I had only watched the Twilight movie last year, then recently I had read New Moon from beginning to the end, and now I'm reading Breaking Dawn, the order of it doesn't sound quite right since I jump the third book, still I had read a few reviews on Eclipse so I'm confident that I know what the plotline was about so I had no worry following the plot of BD. Plus, since I'm not going to waste my money to even order a copy of Eclipse or Twilight from the library (you got to pay a small fee for your order when using the library's service), I would have to wait to finish all of the four books

I'm not going to repeat the arguments which I had already expressed in Part 1.
But before I start, allow me to tell you a few reasons why I was still reading The Host despite all the boredom and stupidity I had already recognized when I was half way through:
1. i don't criticize books that i haven't finished reading.

3. there're a great deal of LOL materials within that so-called SF

Even I myself can't believe it, but I'm going to rant about The Host again after reading the translation of the book.
You might wonder why on earth I was re-reading this book again. here're a few reasons: (1) I found the translated version of the book in library so I decided to take full advantage on public resource, (2) I can read faster when the book had been translated into my first language, (3) since I skipped parts and sometime chapters to make it through the English version, I decided to give The Host the benefit of doubt.
So, after reading The Host from page to page till the end, here's my opinion.
1. The translator, whoever he or she is, had done a fine job to transform the originally dry and dully English writing by Stephenie Meyer into some pretty descent writing. Yes I had done the comparison, so good job Translator! Even though it is not the best translation ever but I still appreciate the effort.

First of all, the story is a Twilight rip-off, there's no other gentler way to put it.

In the fictional universe of The Hunger Games, America had long been ruled by a totalitarian government. Said government divided its subjects into two classes, citizens from the privileged Capital, where people enjoyed wealth and power. The 12 Districts, where most citizens were forced into hard labors and starvation. Since the 12 Districts, along with the destroyed 13th District had once allied together and tired to rebel against the Capital, once the rebellion was suppressed, the Capital brought up The Hunger Games as a punishment for the failed Districts. Premise from Goodreads.com: "The Story of the Stone" (c. 1760) is one of the greatest novels of Chinese literature. The first part of the story, The Golden Days, begins the tale of Bao-yu, a gentle young boy who prefers girls to Confucian studies, and his two cousins: Bao-chai, his parents' choice of a wife for him, and the ethereal beauty Dai-yu. Through the changing fortunes of the Jia family, this rich, magical work sets worldly events - love affairs, sibling rivalries, political intrigues, even murder - within the context of the Buddhist understanding that earthly existence is an illusion and karma determines the shape of our lives.
The Story of the Stone, also known as Dreams In the Red Chamber, is probably one of the greatest, if not the greatest, Chinese classical novels of all time.
The best way to describe the book is probably to address it as a 'family saga'. As the story progresses, we can follow the mai

Premise from Goodreads.com: Everybody has a Cordova story. Cult horror director Stanislas Cordova hasn't been seen in public since 1977. To his fans he is an engima. To journalist Scott McGrath he is the enemy. To Ashley he was a father.
On a damp October night the body of young, beautiful Ashley Cordova is found in an abandoned warehouse in lower Manhattan. Her suicide appears to be the latest tragedy to hit a severely cursed dynasty.
For McGrath, another death connected to the legendary director seems more than a coincidence. Driven by revenge, curiosity and a need for the truth, he finds himself pulled into a hypnotic, disorientating world, where almost everyone seems afraid.
The last time McGrath got close to exposing Cordova, he lost his marriage and his career. This time he could lost his grip on reality.

'The more I read, the stupider I feel' is what I got from reading the later books of the SVM series.
Although I know Miss Harris can write chilling, entertaining paranormal mysteries (e.g. the Harper Connelly series), but the later books of SVM series just don't cut it. As more books came out, I found I like the heroine Sookie Stackhouse less and less, and it's getting more difficult to recognize many of the key characters in the latter books, plus the plot is getting increasingly tiring, lifeless.
The first four books of the SVM series are in fact, nice. We got realistic (huh, as realistic as a paranormal series can get, that's it) world building, vivid human drama, satiric reflection on various social issues (race, sexuality, gender, power struggle, etc) and good sense of humor; all of these good elements

To make them feel proud.
They want others' attention on them,
Whenever they move around.
Beneath these desires, one passion still waits
To be satisfied.
Whether someone will satisfy it or not,

What is the passion I speak about?
When a man satisfies it, she weeps tears of joy;
When he refuses her, she weeps from sorrow.
But my lover satisfies me every time,
And great ecstasy will always follow.
So I cry to Heaven above

He froze upon hearing Sophie's distanced voice. Rather stiffly, he turned to face her. Sophie watched him, unsure what he was thinking or feeling in that moment. The fading twilight danced upon her greying brunette locks and shaded the remorse upon her gentle face.
"I'm...I'm sorry. For what I said back there." She whispered.
Garrett's stiffened lips did not part, nor did his facial features shift in any way that would display the surprise such an apology had warranted. Sophie had always been firm in both her beliefs and intentions. She was not the sort to ask forgiveness, nor go back on her words.

A crushing prison now mocked her, deprived her, encased her in cold, unforgiving ice. Broken hope came with her every waking breath, and a soft translucent fog exited her dark lips. The balance had shifted, and she alone could feel the world's response to it. Hair as black as raven's feathers, and soft as a rabbits pelt tapered down to her thin ankles. Clawed feet dug deeper into the screaming earth, granting it a mercy's kill.
She did not feel as the tears began to leave her empty eyes. Her world was unraveling, the trees cried for her to stop their suffering, their wounds deep from the metal-wielding humans and their twisted lifeless creations.
Betrayers...she couldn't help but think. For their bodies, though hollow and dead, had been composed of mineral; although the touch of fire and the scourge of hammer had distorted them into something unrecognizable.
Something beyond wicked.

Although she had accepted her new life with this strange man, like any young child, she was still nervous around him, and disheartened in general.
She had no toys to speak of. The few she had stolen from Lord Bafford's kids had been left behind when the demonic stone guardians had ravished the servants quarters of the Bafford Manor. In fact, ALL of her belongings had been left there. The young girl didn't even have adequate clothing to speak of, and she still was far to nervous to bathe in the home of a man she knew so little about.
He hadn't done anything to her, and she sincerely doubted he wished her any ill will. But still...

CHAOSChaos.CHAOS in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
Qui s'infiltre en mon cur comme un puissant cordial ;

L'intellectuelRêvant toujours autant de conquête et de fiefL'intellectuel in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
De femme, de pouvoir, d’honneur, de privilège ;
LA DAME DES NEIGESBlottie dans la brume des hivers,LA DAME DES NEIGES in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This

Time and AgeTime, it goes so fast,Time and Age in Free Verse More Like This
Last thing I knew I was a little girl,
but now I'm much grown up.
People often say how much I've grown,
but I never see these changes.
I've turned my childish winges,
into poems and perspective.
I've turned screams and whines,
into hugs and tears.
I've grown up, a child to fifteen,
imaginative games, to writing a scene.
Witch game to Shakhlin academy,
from life to death with a broken heart.
Advice please :heart:Mum and Dad,Advice please  in Letters More Like This
I have something important to tell you about myself. I have been meaning to tell you for the past year or so, but I've never had the courage. This is in letter form so that my words can be thought through as well as possible, and so that I don't leave out anything important. I can't explain how I discovered this about myself, but I know that telling you this is the biggest thing I've had to do.
Please don't judge me for this truth, I have been like this all my life and realised when I was twelve.
I am bisexual.
Please remember that I am still the same person I always was, you just know more about me. I am here to answer any questions you may have for me, but it may take a while for me to be comfortable in discussing it fully.
I'll tell you some things I really want to make clear to you, but please don't judge me.
I have found myself attracted to other girls, I have kissed them on the cheek, but I haven't done anything more. I haven't dated a girl, but I have considered mak
Count With MeOne beat, one breath, you keep me alive.Count With Me in Free Verse More Like This
One beat, one breath, with you I'll survive.
One kiss, one hug, your lips are so sweet.
One kiss, one hug, your embrace soothes me.
Two hearts, two minds, racing as one.
Two hearts, two minds, thoughts combined.
Two people, two places, they're near and far.
Two people, two places, and a door left ajar.
Three days, three hours, together or apart.
Three days, three hours, the beat of our hearts.
Three minutes, three seconds, a kiss from you.
Three minutes, three seconds, an "I love you."
Four eyes, four ears, to listen and hear.
Four eyes, four ears, to soothe my fear.
Four arms, four legs, our souls entwined.
Four arms, four legs, I'm yours and you're mine.
Five fingers, five toes, your hand in mine.
Five fingers, five toes, our fingers lock tight.
Five senses, five feelings, I see, hear and touch.
Five senses, five feelings, I smell and I taste.
Three YearsThree years it has been,Three Years in Free Verse More Like This
since I fell in love with you.
Three years it has been,
And still this is true.
My love is infinite,
Forever I'll love you.
And I now believe that,
We are stronger as two.
I am yours,
We shall not part,
You are mine,
Forever in my heart.
You make me laugh,
And cry tears of glee.
You make me smile,
When you say you love me.
I only wish one thing,
to be with you where you are.
I miss you so much when we're apart,
Just one metre away is a metre too far.
Without hearing your voice,
I begin to lose my mind.
I dread the days that I can't call,
I feel empty, you cloud the light.
But I love you nevertheless,
I become cheerful, filled with joy.
You have a strange vibe,
It makes me feel complete.

The lyrics whisper reassuring words.
The lyrics breathe the words "you're not alone,"
The lyrics tell me it'll all be ok.

The composer's aided me in expressing myself.
I can hear I'm not alone,

I can hear wisdom in these words,
I can hear hope through my headphones.
DeathThe days we have left,Death in Free Verse More Like This
count down on the clock.
we all will die eventually,
and eventually we'll be free.
death comes to all our lives,
before It comes to us.
we know the end will come,
but we've no idea when.
sometimes we just have to accept the facts,
and admitt that death is inevitable.
we all will die as our hearts lay still,
we lay in the ground as that hole be filled.
in that hole we get lain down to rest,
and that is the end of our lives.
well that's all that we know to be,
we have no proof of life after death.
but many believe and some claim to have seen,
the spirits of the ones that passed.
GrandmaGrandma in Free Verse More Like This
As I was learning to take my first steps,
you were there to guide me.
As I began to read and write,
You were there beside me.
Through love and loss,
Through pain and tears,
No matter what happened,
Grandma was always there.
Each hug, each kiss,
From her is a treasure.
you've taught me so much.
The days when I slept over,
We'd stay up until nine,
We'd talk, we'd play,
You told me stories over and over.
Board games, dolls,
Drawing and colouring.
Things we'd do together,
Just us, Grandma and me.
You'd hold my hand,
and walk me around the garden.
Looking at flowers,
playing on the swing.
These are the days I'll never forget,
The days you were here.
The days where you were healthy,
The days you had no fear.
In my mind you were immortal,
I never thought you'd go.
And as we see now, I was wrong,
But you're forever in my heart.
IncompleteI gaze up at the starsIncomplete in Free Verse More Like This
As they shine through my bedroom window,
I feel as though someone should be here
someone I could share this beautiful moment with.
it feels like it should be romantic
but without you there's no romance,
I need you here to feel complete
I need to have you here with me.
We could lie on the soft grass in the garden
as we gaze upon the glorious sight,
our hands will meet and stay entwined
and our lips shall lock together tight.
sadly I'm alone in my bed
staring out at the stars that shine overhead,
without you here, without you near
tonight is incomplete.
