This is one of ten pieces I did for the new Star Wars Essential Guide to Warfare. I had a blast working on it and I'm excited that I am able to contribute to the Star Wars universe.

I will be posting them in the order of sequence as it appears in the book. Hope you guys enjoy them!

This is one of my favorite pieces from the Galactic Civil War era. This battle, which took place after the destruction of the first Death Star but before the events of Empire Strikes Back, was an elaborate ambush set by Vader and the Empire to destroy the Alliance leadership along with its fleet. Under overwhelming odds the Rebels would've fled to a designated location where they would regroup, but had they done that they would have found another Imperial fleet waiting for them. The fleet instead dispersed and made random jumps to avoid being completely annihilated. The Alliance almost lost the entire fleet from this battle but enough survived to carry on the fight and eventually make a comeback at the Battle of Endor.

This battle is recounted in the Star War comic "Rebellion: My Brother, My Enemy".

The first one is a battle between the Lusankya of the New Republic Forces under the command of Wedge Antilles and the Reaper, commanded by Gilad Pellaeon of the Imperial Remnant. The two SSDs hammer each other while the wreckage of the fleet carrier Endurance goes down in flames.

An aerial panoramic view of the famous Battle of Grassy Plains in Ep 1. It was very tedious to paint hordes of Gungans and Battle Droids plus I had to make sense of the troop formations but it all turned out well in the end.

While the Battle of Cait raged on, the Kzinti sent a small fleet to destroy Starbase J-23, commonly known as The Glaive, the centre of operations of all Western military campaigns. The outrageous attack was brilliantly executed and The Glaive suffered heavy damages. Although Starfleet managed to win the battle, it was another Phyrric victory, further contributing to the major losses of the early stage of the Federation-Kzinti War...

Now that Galaxies is officially defunct, I thought it safe to post some of my favourite illustrations here for posterity sake..!

Working on this franchise for close to 2 years really helped me grow as a creative and allowed me to explore many aspects of the craft-- its not often you get to play the role of illustrator, story-teller and designer within a single commission. It was truly rewarding in hindsight and more often that not, a very humbling experience when you witness the sheer quality and passion of other fellow creatives working on the same project, really inspires you to stretch yourself beyond the usual bounds!

Hard to see where you're going in a firefight with those blinders for a visor... ;) Still love scout troopers all the same.

Battle-worn company of walkers moving quickly through a narrow pass.

I added my usual preference of wargear to the AT-STs, obviously keeping canon in mind and always making sure that whatever I've added have somehow appeared in SW stories at some point. In this image I thought it would be nice to show a different loadout for the different walkers in a company. The light footed scout to the left of the image sporting long range mortars bolted to the upper rear of the turret, communications antenna and 6-pack dumbfire rockets for harrassment. Also small, lightweight reactive armour plates to cover the vulnerable battery packs on the underside of the turret.

The main lead unit just has to have a nonchalant cool-headed gunner who is probably soaking in the sunrise :p, and it also sports 2 rotating grenade launcher mounts on its lower cheeks, plus a winch system under the main chin gun and shielded weapon systems.

Do first contact situation ever go peacefully? Of course they don't because that would be boring.
Anyway what your looking at is a first contact situation between the Humans and the first alien race to go into the game Novus Aeterno the Verunas. I have shown some of their ship designs recently and this is the first full illustration with them in so it was nice to paint something other than Human V Human.

The Verunas aren't very friendly they are the most advanced race in the game and they know it, they are big headed both physically and mentally.

Also this painting will cover a 20ft wall at out booth at PAX in April which will be rather cool to see.

Enjoy

The latest illustration for the MMORTS game Novus Aeterno. Having spent the last month or 2 working on ship concepts and skins it was nice to break loose and paint another huge space battle. Since we have new models for just about everything now it made sense to paint an updated image.
The foreground ships consist of some Dreadnoughts (the tall big things) a few Battleships (Smaller vertical ships with an angled lower section) 2 Basilisk Capitol ships (the 2 giant things in the top left and bottom right corners) and a Laminar Capitol ship (the large ship just above the massive explosion firing off a lot of rounds)

That big explosion was caused by a rather well placed shot by the top left Basilisk right down the barrel of an enemy Basilisk, the resulting explosion was pretty big. The other Capitol ship in the right lower corner was quite lucky compared, a distant Manticore Capitol ship, which is a huge prototype laser cannon with engines, just grazed the ships sides, melting away layers of hull and ripping the shield.

Enjoy :ahoy:

So here it is finally, my Battlefleet Gothic painting done as a birthday present for my brother, Took a long time to get everything how I wanted it but there is always room for improvement but I wont be working on this one any more.

Simple scene depicting a fight against the Imperial fleet and the forces of Chaos, it shows a light frigate class ship on a collision course with the Imperial fleets capitol ship and firing of a load of missiles as it goes, also it under heavy fire from light weapons. The capitol ship can also be seen firing its huge side mounted cannon arrays at something, but what? a ship that size firing that many shots must be very keen of destroying what ever it is, and that frigate is damn keen on keeping the ship from firing. I will leave that to your imagination. Background shows a few skirmishes and a broadside going on..... everyone loves a bit of broadside action.

Enjoy and Happy Birthday Bro this ones for you.

A commission for :iconzachg56: ~Zachg56 of the armor for one of his characters.

Another design based in the StarWars universe, this soldier is part of a planets self run defense forces, though they have ties with the Imperials so some aesthetic and technology is shared.

Commissioned by :iconb8factor: ~b8factor. I was excited to work on a painting of one of my favorite games back when Homeworld2 released. While I haven't played it in years, the game has a huge impact on how I paint space scenes, and influences how I design ships. Few space or RTS games to date have left such a mark on me.

Under the shadow of colossal Progenitor derelicts, a Captain watches as special cargo is transported by frigate to another battlecruiser. Escort frigates and fighters screen the area. For anyone with the privilege of looking out a window the remnants of the galaxies past on a nebulan horizon would be quite the view.

Another fleet painting, this time of an invasion capable Battle Cruiser.

From the same specialized shipworks that created the colossal protectorate flagship, this ship is designed to command and deliver serious firepower deep into enemy space, with or without an accompanying fleet.
Three main forward cannons handle long range engagements, 12 turrets house secondary gun pairs that provide closing range firepower. Various other points give protection against smaller threats. Onboard is carried a compliment of fighters and gunships, along with the capability to carry and launch a strike battalion via dropships.
